Art Museums
The Jean Cocteau Museum - Severin Wunderman Collection is a contemporary art museum constructed in 2011, which showcases the diverse works of Jean Cocteau across various media formats. The collection comprises approximately 1500 pieces donated by art collector Severin Wunderman to Menton, under the condition to build a designated Cocteau museum. The unique low-rise structure displays an assortment of drawings, ceramics, paintings and cinematographic work with annual rotation of exhibits.
Amazing art in a wonderful city. Entry is free the first Sunday of every month.

The museum was flooded and closed so the exhibition was moved to the Bastion. The architectural space is interesting and at the open square we had a sunny brunch.

Stunning piece of architecture. great exhibions and good coffee. A place to cool down after a long and sunny walk on the promenade.

Basilica
Church
The Basilica of Saint Michael Archangel is a Roman Catholic church that was constructed in 1653 with a Baroque style. It houses several artifacts and a 17th-century organ. This beautiful basilica is located at the heart of Menton and can be reached within two minutes by foot from the beach. Its unique microclimate ensures sunny weather all year round. Although some visitors may not like the artificial sand on the beach, they can still enjoy swimming in the warm turquoise sea.
Definitely an extraordinary experience into the holly french-style historical places of this town. Huge golden crown hanging over the alter is different, and places of worship differs some from the Italian icons across the border. Remembrances of historic wars, strides and efforts on the sea are displayed. The climb up here is definitely and effort, but the views reward you from the little square, once you are there. NB: Did you know that 007 drove down these stairs in one of his films?
Morten Kristensen — Google review
A short climb up the stairs will lead you to this Cathedral. While climbing up the stairs, this presents opportunities for you to capture the beach and the sea line of Menton. The orange architecture and the orange walls are also rather scenic and worth a picture. Quite a number of tourists at this scenic point.
CR Foo — Google review
Beautiful church with a fantastic facade from up close and afar. Highly recommend walking out to one of the rock points for the view.
Mackenzie Johnson — Google review
Wonderful place, full of peace and amazing interior. Good bless you.
Jean-Michelle Voyageur — Google review
A beautiful spot with its own Micro Climate - sun every day. Right in the heart of Menton and a 2 minute walk from the beach. I wasn't a fan if the fake sand, more gravel if you ask me, but the warm turquoise sea made up for any disappointment. Old Town Menton is a must see...yes, even for the faint hearted. Small winding streets whose brightly coloured yellow and orange walls protected you from the blistering sun. The reward for climbing to the top...A magnificent view of the bay in its entirety and the village cascading down the hillside. The people of Menton were super friendly appreciating those that appreciated their hard work in making thus a fabulous tourist spot.
Susan Gill — Google review
The Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel was built according to the wishes of Prince Honoré II of Monaco. He wanted a "big and beautiful church to Menton" and made this wish by the Genoese architect Laurent Lavagna. Construction began May 27, 1619, but the real work only began in 1639. In 1653 the monument was officially over and under the cult of Saint Michael the Archangel. It is May 8, 1675
Harry Yanakiev — Google review
The way leads to the Basilique is narrow and unique. And when you arrived, you will see a breathtaking view of the ocean. It's a very nice complex and peaceful too. Nice place to visit

So beautiful! Unfortunately it was closed when we visited, but the outside architecture and the views of the bay are absolutely stunning!

Garden
Nature & Parks
Serre de la Madone is a picturesque botanical garden that dates back to the early 20th century. The garden boasts an impressive assortment of subtropical flora surrounding a tranquil pool. Visitors can expect to see a diverse array of rare plants, making it an ideal destination for botany enthusiasts. The garden's shaded areas offer respite from the sun and create a peaceful atmosphere conducive to relaxation and reflection. Friendly staff are available to answer any questions visitors may have about the plant species on display.
I think this place was magical, visited April 2022 and I was touched by its calmness and beauty.
Angelika Simonfalvi — Google review
A beautiful ancient garden. So charming and quiet. Recommended.
Håkan Widar — Google review
Total waste of time and money. It seems that the garden has not been taken care of for decades, which is really sad because at some point of time it must have been beautiful. The hostess was plain rude to us and hardly spoke English, and 10 euro per ticket is ridiculously overpriced. Even if it was free of charge, I don't think it's something worth spending your time on.
Pavel Shudnev — Google review
Interesting collection plants. Probably best to visit early summer. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice and shady.

Very peaceful place with beautiful views of Menton and the sea. Definitely recommend visiting.
Tatyana Saleski — Google review
Excellent cemetery, up on a hill right in the old town. Easy walk up the old stairs, old style path. Well signed. Drinking water (tap) up top, not much else. Great views of sea, harbor, mountains, on both sides. Even a few benches to enjoy the solitude and the views, along with the permanent guests. Very interesting monument work, some recent, some as old as 1885 (maybe older), some clean and polished, some falling apart, some obviously expensive, some humble. All tell a short small story of loss, that somebody at some time, cared.
Steven Webb — Google review
Lovely old cemetery with stunning views.William Webb Ellis is buried here.Well worth the hike up the hill.
Mike Giles — Google review
Good historic cemetery. Easy to get to from the seaside. Go up the Orange staircases and when you get to the church, make a sharp right up more stairs. These stairs take you to the cemetery through very quaint alleys and houses. Very well worth the steps to get to the cemetery.
AW M — Google review
We discovered this place by accident - driving along the Boulevard de Garavan - a dazzling drive, scented by Cedar trees looking down to the aquamarine Mediterranean below but reaching it by car is treacherous. If you have to reverse to allow oncoming traffic to pass - the drop down to the sea is a long way. Very narrow road. But once find your way here - the views are incredable - along the coast to Italy on your left and to Cap Martin on your right. Inside this very ancient Cemetry on a outcrop overlooking the red tiled rooftops below - the final resting places of familys are more like little houses, forever gazing out to sea. When we descended to Menton below and sitting in a cafe next to the sea and told someone where we had been - they gave us a look and said 'most people walk to visit it'.

Why I am a tombstone tourist at times? It is architecture, with art stones from different eras, the finely carved sculptures, they were meant to be seen and appreciated. I will always find something interesting about history as well. I am curious about the stories of the people whose lives are represented on the tombs. This peaceful abode's permanent residents include a Russian prince, the tomb of William Webb Ellis, legendary inventor of the sport. Aubrey Vincent Beardsley an English illustrator and author. Plus this lovely Kingdom of eternal rest has one of the most beautiful viewpoints of Menton. Look out over beautiful carved angels to the dazzling blue of the Mediterranean Sea💙.
Angelina De Castro — Google review
Menton has been attracting European vacationers and retirees for 150 years and many of them ended their days here. And it would be hard to find a more scenic spot for a last farewell. There are residents here from the USA to Russia and most points in between. Many of the graves teeter on the brink of a precipice with no safeguarding for grieving relatives or inquisitive visitors but it is wildly beautiful. The British section is on a lower level accessed by a gate to the right of the main entrance where you will find escapees from Stalybridge and Wimbledon resting in the Mediterranean sunshine. Joining them for a few moments quiet reflection is rewarding.
herm dig — Google review
About 10-15mins straight walk uphill from the basilica cathedral is the cemetery. There is only 1 exit and entrance which is beside a main road. Entry is free. On a late Thursday afternoon, it was very peaceful and there were only 3-4 other visitors. The cemetery offers a nice view of menton but the place itself is very charming with its medieval theme and random spots w wild roses growing 💕 Definitely worth a visit if you happen to visit the cathedral as well!

To small and the entrancefee (in comparison) too high. You can visit much better museums in the region. Don't put this on your things to do when I am in Menton.

Small museum with a very friendly staff. It is really small but the views outside made this an amazing visit.
julio silva — Google review
Nicely presented exhibition on an intimate scale. English speaking (Australian) staff very helpful. The collection which was housed in a modernist building nearby was tragically flooded and badly damaged a few years ago so what you see is limited. It was well worth the visit and modest €5 entry.

Gorgeus view of the port and beach!
Dragos Susman — Google review
A bit disappointing because it's so small. The main displays of his work (which is a building close by) is closed for renovation and repair. Still worth the small price of admission. Currently, Sept. 2022, the exhibit is focused on two of his films.
John Fries — Google review
Beautiful space for an exhibition though I would rather more correct lighting since the building lacks of natural light. The welcome was very pleasant from the staff and the little gift shop had interesting works of Cocteau for souvenirs. In contrast of many museums this is small, estimate less than an hour to go around, except if you want to dive into Cocteau world.
left dock — Google review
Nice collection of work by Jean Cocteau, the lighting is a little dark, and the museum was hot.
Francis Mariani — Google review
The Bastion cannot substitute the large Cocteau museum, which is closed now, of course, but it is a very atmospheric place that is worth to visit on its own. A good selection of Cacteau-related items in the shop. Nice welcoming staff.

Haute French restaurant
Renowned hillside eatery with an elegant atmosphere presents an innovative set-menu and ocean vistas. Recently ranked as the fourth top restaurant globally, Mirazur sits atop a picturesque Mediterranean perch in Menton. Its dining area exudes charm and brightness, showcasing breathtaking views of the sea.
Started off the evening with a tour of their aromatic garden. This was a unique sensory experience as you got to smell all of the different herbs and flavors that were growing there. Dinner was a nine course tasting menu. You will feel extremely full by the end. Be ready for some really bold inventive flavors. A few dishes were a bit off the mark for me but overall amazing experience. Some highlights include dishes like the potato garlic cream with caviar and the intro tapas. The dining room had a great view of the Riviera but the interior is a little bit more minimalist and leaves something to be desired. Phenomenal service.
Sarah Hui — Google review
Went here for a birthday treat and it was everything we had hoped for. Lovely setting, cool with nice views over the sea. Me I was interesting and used a lot of locally grown herbs and flowers. An amazing experience.

No words can describe such an amazing sensorial experience. Team was fantastic had one of the best wine pairing so just chapeau not to forget to mention that I had such a good lecture while exploring texture and flavour thank you for purely introducing me to the philosophy of Mirazur. A la prochaine!

I visited Mirazur back in 2019 when it was a claimed "best restaurant in the world" by Michelin. I absolutely loved the atmosphere the food was amazing along with the wine pairing and organically sources and grown in house greens / birds. Although I couldn't finish all of the courses, I found the price point to be fair and the service to be incredible. 🙏 What an amazing experience. I will be back next time I visit Monaco!
Arianna Courte — Google review
Had an amazing 9-course diner with wine pairing ! We were sitting in the kitchen (there is a table sitting up to 8 people right next to the chefs, separate from other guests), adding something very special to the experience. Everyone was extremely friendly, professional, and made an effort to fit our group's mindset. Special thanks to the sommelier who spent an incredible amount of time answering our questions, understanding our expectations in tasting a variety of "less-known" wines, with some incredible discoveries. Everything from start to finish was on point. The menu was designed around roots (turmeric, beetroots, ginger, turnip etc.) to match the season. The idea was to explore the interactions between "heaven and earth". Dishes were full of surprising flavors, with every combination matching perfectly. It lasted around four hours from start to finish, including a tour of the wine cellar, but felt like an hour and an half. Will be hard to beat !

Ridiculous, in a good way. 9 courses based on leaves that was seasonal, colorful, omnivore, insanely delicious, and left me absolutely stuffed. Brilliant staff, great night view of sea and city. Do it if you can -- we did it for my 60th! Can't wait to turn 70 now so I have another excuse.

Great white truffle experience here within this year and for the specific dish I think you have better to try it by yourself, because it can be called such as amazing, yet, the dessert is just fine and normal standard. On the other, the service quality is perfect and impossible to find any problems from this part, moreover, when I went to there the weather was raining and they given one umbrella to me for free. Will be back when the time turns on to the white truffle season next year
Rorschach Bell — Google review
We were there for dinner. Overall it was a big disappointment. This place doesn't deserve its 3 Michelin stars (maybe one) or being anywhere in the top spots of La Liste. I'll start with the positive parts: the view of Menton is superb. Some of the dishes we had were indeed very very good (the amuse-bouche, the Salade Marine with caviar, the Epinard Malabar Gamberoni from San Remo). However there were many issues: - no tablecloths, shocking for the price they charge. The tables are too close to each other. - the service was sub-par (brasserie level). They forgot to pour the wine before bringing the plates, I ordered an extra glass of wine which arrived 30' later, they were clearing the plates and cutlery from the left. Lots of personnel in the dining room but very poorly coordinated. - my main concern, the plates became less and less enjoyable as we advanced through the menu. The aged tuna tartare with capucine could have been excellent, save that its taste was drowned by too much yuzu/ponzu spice on top. The salad with seafood sauce should not be served in any starred restaurant - just by the look of it its place is maybe in a brasserie. The lobster with marjolaine was ok but uninspiring. The hay-cooked fish with porcini could have been excellent - both the fish and the porcini shavings were superb; however, the cooked porcini was completely tasteless. The guinea fowl was bland, and it came with two "satellite dishes" that did not fit at all with the main dish. Finally the red cabbage-based desert was "interesting" but not a great way to close the dinner. - while comprehensive, the wine list has very limited choice between EUR 100-300. Prices are up to 5x store price for the wines.

This is one of the best restaurants we have been to! Don’t forget to do the complementary garden tour :) The location is stunning - dinner while watching the sunset over Menton …. Food was just incredible, we were there for the fruit menu - definitely go for the cheese and wine pairing.

2021 Best Restaurant of the world, 3 Michelin stars. It had some big expectations to fill. We were greeted warmly and offered to freshen up in their bathrooms (the right two are uniquely designed). Then up to our table which had a centerpiece made up from the theme of our visit "roots". They change themes based on the moon position, which really means there are 4 rotating menus. My wife love roots, so this was an opportunity to explore them. Start to finish the food was delicious and we'll prepared. They served us and gave great English descriptions of the food. There are 3 different wine pairings. We went with the history of the vines/wine pairings since it was described as unconventional. It was lovely with wines from all over the world. Food highlights were the chefs grandma's bread, beet that was so tender with cream and caviar, sea bream that was the best fish I've ever had, and an stunning savory carrot pie. Presentation and service was top notch. We ended up being their almost 4 hours. An excellent experience, that we'll remember. I'd keep in mind that if you're picky or don't like roots, you probably shouldn't go during that time, but that should be self explanatory...
Matthew Emerson — Google review
I visit this restaurant every year because there is a conference in Monaco. This was my 4th visit. However, this visit was very disappointing. As it became a Michelin 3-star restaurant, the price became very expensive, and the chef's intention to try something new was evident. But the basic principles of food do not change. I went to eat. Going to relieve hunger was the basic principle. The dessert of this meal was very good, but the main dish was not enough. In the past, we could enjoy various dishes such as pork, fish, squid, lamb, seafood, and oyster dishes, but this time, the food other than a plate of fish was flowers. Even the flowers were beautiful to look at but did not surprise the taste buds. It would be better to use honey from Kyrgyzstan to enhance the fragrance of flowers. Incorporating beauty and the chef's philosophy into food gives us incredible inspiration. But I hope you keep the basic principles of food.Philosophy and story are important, but the most important thing in food is taste.

A unique experience, an explosion of flavors, something that you should definitely try at least once in your life. I have been to several Michelin ranked restaurants but I really found this one on a completely different league. It’s the first time that I don’t really know how to describe well what I ate, the flavors were so unique. All their ingredients are locally sourced and the 70% of them come from their own local gardens. Among all the delicious dishes that they served us (it was a surprise menu), I really loved the raw calamari with caviar. Expensive yes but highly recommended. Well done to the Mirazur’ Team🫶🏽 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Le Petit Port is a charming French bistro situated in the picturesque old town near the marina. This family-run establishment offers a daily changing menu that centers around expertly grilled fish and meat dishes. Their meals are prepared in a traditional, homestyle manner using only the finest locally sourced ingredients. Despite its high ratings, venturing to this restaurant without a reservation can be risky; however, if you are fortunate enough to secure a table, it will be an indulgent experience.
You have to come here for the octopus salad, which isn't really a salad but more like an octopus stew, with forest mushrooms and tomatoes. Absolutely delicious, the best dish so far of our trip to the Ivory Coast. I also had the poached pair for dessert, also very good. We tried the Aperol Spritz which was very nice also. We came here based on the reviews and it did not disappoint.
Lilytravels — Google review
Suspect this was once a well-regarded high class local restaurant. Sadly those days are gone. The welcome was oddly dismissive as if we were not worthy. The seafood was poor, possibly frozen, and nowhere near good enough to justify the very high prices. Service was poor and tetchy - not eating the entire dish was taken as an insult, wine we asked for never arrived, nor did the bill when requested. There are many better places to eat in Menton.

Wonderful food and atmosphere. I opted for Rossini Beef Fillet, and my partner the Beef Fillet with porcini mushrooms - both were excellent.

I came to this restaurant without reservation that knowing is good rating was quite risky but I was given a table and it was a feast. Had delicious figues stuffed with truffle sauce and steak for main. Unfortunately after that didn't have space for desert, so if you're not a big eater, consider sharing some meals. Prices are above average but it's worth it. Restaurant is located in quiet place so you can enjoy food without noise of the town. Must go if you're in Menton.

Attention! Might be our worse experience in this city. Food was good there while the price was also high. You can come if you don’t mind being treated indifferently like us. We arrived at 9 with reservation and literally waited for whole hour only having the starter, one dish, at all. We can understand it might be the busy time, however there is no apology or proper excuse for the delay from the owner. At last it also cost almost another 15 minutes for the bill;) I don’t understand this inefficiency and don’t recommend it at all cos u won’t feel respected, since there are so many good options besides. Peace:)

The owners are extremely welcoming and very accomodating! Amazing atmosphere. Food was delicious and most of it recommend by them. FYI the portions are generous, just what you expect from a family ran restaurant and so the Price tag is more than fare. Service was extremely efficient and smooth. Nothing but good things to say. Will recommend to anyone traveling through this part of France.

Unfriendly staff, impolite or better: route restaurant owner, unpleasant atmosphere, overpriced, mediocre food. „Service“ takes far too long- first order for drinks taken 15 minutes after arrival. Why would that even deserve the word service? We were 3 and each of us felt not at all welcomed - quite the opposite. Beautiful location.

If you're seeking a high-end dining experience without the hefty price tag of a Michelin-starred establishment, JR Bistronomie is an ideal choice. This restaurant offers a fusion of traditional and contemporary cuisine, showcasing skillful and unpretentious cooking. To begin your meal, you can indulge in their unique twist on Tarte Tatin featuring tomatoes or opt for the delicious pan-fried calamari with garlic and parsley.
Amazing food, great place overall, friendly and helpful staff. Was very happy to have a meal there. However I found room decor a bit basic, it doesn't have to be expensive but certainly could benefit from a little bit of imagination. And service was a bit bistro-like: based on the high quality of food and above average prices I think it would have been beneficial to add a bit of a formal touch to the style of serving.

I can not understand why this place is Michelin. Very disappointed. Food was average. Nothing special. Shrimp was plain and steak was blend. Menu choices were things that you can find any restaurants. Very very disappointed. Service was terrible. The women server were like robot and rude. She slammed wine bottle and gave side eyes when we asked for something unusual. She doesn’t know how to communicate and showed attitude. Never had this terrible services. One star service is too much to give. Michelin also requires dedicated services. Better take their honour off. Worst experience from my entire Europe trip dinning.

Nice restaurant, but we had too high expectations due to the michelin recommendation. Meat was overcooked (asked for medium) and fish slightly burned. Still best food we have had in Menton so far and nice relaxed atmosphere.

We had a family dinner and the food was good, fresh and tasty. Big positiv surprise was the option for kids! big plus to see fish and vegetables as kids menu. We sat outside which was nice but a bit noisy with traffic. Service was good but one waitress could have been a bit more attentive. So overall i recommend it.

Great food, both the lamb and the fish. Desserts were good. The design of the resturant is deceiving, it made us doubt how good the food could be, but the food surprised us positively! But yes, the design makes it 4 stars instead of 5, looks like a more low quality resturant and could benefit from better lighting, feels like supermarket-lights, but the food is five star quality. Definitely recommended and would go back!

Very cozy atmosphere, we arrived before 8 and only two tables were occupied. Less then half an hour later it was nearly full. We came to this place because we saw it in the Michelin guide and thought that if we are in Menton we should visit the place. We entered got our table and the waiter gave an English menu to my wife and a French to me without asking him to do this way. It was just natural because he heard us talking in English while I reserved our table in French. The food delicious with ingredients from the region. It had an excellent presentation, I uploaded some photos. In fact photos on Google maps help a lot because the menus in these places do not contain pictures, and usually I'm confused what I will get. I believe we should return to try the other items on the menu.

Restaurant Le Galion in Menton is a lovely place to enjoy delicious seafood. The staff is friendly and the service is excellent, although at times the courses may be served with longer intervals. The fish of the day plate is well-prepared and there's a good selection of wines and desserts. The attention to flavors and textures in the food makes for a delightful dining experience, despite slightly smaller portions. The restaurant also offers specialities suggested by the owner, making it an ideal place for seafood enthusiasts.
This charming restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its excellent cuisine and warm, welcoming staff. The decor is thoughtfully aligned with the restaurant’s theme, creating an inviting atmosphere. A highlight of our visit was the waitress’s suggestion of the day: a carpaccio of coquilles Saint-Jacques. This dish was a standout, featuring thinly sliced scallops that melted in the mouth, perfectly seasoned.

Delicious food and very friendly staff. Loved the ambience. Try the catch of the day when you are there and the Cremé Brulee.

Delicious food, we asked the owner for their suggestions and we were pleasantly surprised by some specialities. Very polite staff and the service was supreme. 10/10 experience.

Really good food with a lot of attention to flavours and textures. Not big portions as others gave said, but some amuses bouches given and the whole package was delightful. Could probably benefit from one more member of staff at peak. Really enjoyed the experience.

Very lovely dinner. Food is delicious, good portions. Staff is very friendly. The only recommendation we would have if you visit, is that you make sure the courses get served a bit closer together. Sometimes we had to wait it a bit long. But all was worth it! Good place to visit when you are looking for a place to have some seafood in Menton.

We had our friends’ small wedding lunch there and it was perfect! Great place for organizing family events. Nice interior and a cool terrace by the port. Very good fish dishes!

Expectation were high due to the chef. The food was indeed very good but the service was flat and less than effective… and apart from the beautiful pizza oven, the decoration and feel was not as expected.

Amazing pizza at the beautiful port. Every part of the pizza was perfection as were the desserts (tiramisu and ice cream) The whole team working was also happy and very helpful. Overall a great experience.

Delicious pizza with nice view on port, quiet place and friendly atmosphere. Average price for pizza is 15€, good selection of drinks and there are few bio beers.

By far the best pizza in Menton! If you are looking for delicious Italian pizza (wood fired), this is the place. It is all topped off with very pleasant and attentive service. Highly recommended!
