The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow is a marine conservation, research and education charity that focuses on the unique commercial species, the European Lobster. They offer tours of their nursery, educational activities and even provide opportunities to adopt a hatchling. The center serves as a center of excellence for lobster science where visitors can learn about the impact these marine animals have on our planet and how human activity affects them. Additionally, guests can discover fascinating facts about lobsters while enjoying their luxurious meals.
A must-see attraction if you’re passing through Padstow. I adopted some lobsters as a Christmas gift for my wife a couple of years ago so have wanted to visit for quite a while, and I must say that I was worried that it wasn’t going to be worth the journey. We weren’t disappointed. I didn’t realise the work that the hatchery does is making sure that lobsters can be farmed sustainably and the links they make with local fisherman to make sure that resources don’t expire, but also to give the lobsters a fighting chance at survival. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and your ticket is valid for a whole year.

I went with my family, my son loved it. I was worried that it wasn’t going to be worth the journey. We weren’t disappointed. An interesting place to visit and teach children about sustainability. You can adopt a lobster from £5 or a whole family for £13 which you can name and track online. Good fun, they do some great work to increase lobster stocks and you can see newly hatched though ready for release and pregnant lobsters 🦞 The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and your ticket is valid for a whole year.

Fascinating visit. A great example of scientific research in collaboration with fishermen and restaurants in helping develop sustainable food supplies. Well worth a visit

Great little experience. Took our 2 year old. A good mix of activities and information for both adults and children. It's also dog friendly which was helpful for us. The lady on reception was super welcoming and friendly. She gave us a good rundown of what we can see and do in there. There was also a gentleman who offered to talk more about the lifespan, the capture and breeding of the lobsters and the work that the hatchery does. Really interesting. Tickets are valid for a whole year from purchase so if you're visiting regularly it's very well worth the money.

Our 3yo had a blast here and didn't want to leave. It's compact but has loads of information and we got to see plenty of lobsters and crabs including a 2 day old 'batch' of baby lobsters! Really worth an hour or two of your time.

Great place to visit whilst in Padstow especially if you are eating seafood. To be able to appreciate how they are making a difference for welfare and sustainability of seafood is a must in my opinion. Really enjoyed chatting to staff who were passionate and knowledgeable. Worth a visit and the ticket price (which I believe also allows to you return free within the year).

It's possibly the best bacon and egg roll I've ever had! We sat on the terrace, and the view was amazing! Could have happily stayed till lunchtime!
Tracy Bushell — Google review
Great place to see how lobsters 🦞 are being helped in not being over fished in the Southwest area by giving younglings a good start in life and then re-released into the sea. Small but intresting area, where you can sponsor a lobster, a couple or a family of four, name them all and if you sponsor more then one they are released together. Helpful friendly staff and dogs are welcome. The downside is (nothing to do with the Hatchery) the car park, dreadful to get a parking space, so arrive very early to get one. So I wouldn't pre-book any tickets to the Hatchery online just in case you can't get parking, which happened to me during the school holidays . Going back again soon to take my friend as paying once gives you all year entry to the Hatchery. We'll done to everyone involved in The National Lobster Hatchery.

A cool place to visit with the kids. There are some live lobsters in the tanks for them to see and some interactive dislays to play with. It's quite small but it is well worth paying for as it helps the local industry in a big way. The little baby lobster in the tank were great too see.

Brilliantly designed attraction. Every bit of space is used to interest and educate. There are a lot of hands on bits: magnet fishing, flaps to open, colouring and puzzle sheets upstairs. It's really interesting to see lobsters of various ages. Very encouraging to see the work being done to support these fascinating creatures. We very much enjoyed the chocolate lobsters from the gift shop, too!

Visited the hatchery on the 18th October 23 - it's an interesting place, I learnt alot ontop of what I already know as a 36 year old during my visit. I adopted a lobster (Doug), can't wait to see him released into the ocean.

Super informative and interesting! It's small, so it won't take much time, but everything that's written is food for thought and the merch is super cute 🦞If you have the chance to take part in a lobster release, do that. It's something you'll never forget.
Ettore Lignelli — Google review
Not a big place and you pay £7 for an annual ticket. There is no choice of a one-off payment. There is not much to see at all and you complete the tour in a couple of minutes due to the venue being so small.

A nice informative visit for a rainy day in Padstow. Quite a few tanks to see and information to look at. Nice views of the river.

What a fantastic educational place! We walked in half an hour before closing but the lovely man working there was kind enough to educate us on the process and we found it absolutely fascinating! Highly recommend to see with kids 🦞

Prideaux Place is a stunning 16th-century manor located in the picturesque hamlet of Prideaux. The house, built by Sir Nicholas Prideaux, showcases exquisite Elizabethan plasterwork and an extensive collection of fine art. Surrounded by lush grounds and a deer park, the manor offers guided tours that allow visitors to admire its period furnishings, crenellated ramparts, and panoramic views of Bodmin Moor.
Stumbled upon this by chance on a walk in Padstow, a few mins walk from the harbour. The house wasn’t opened when we visited (opens from Easter Sunday onwards 2022) but we were able to look round the gardens which were lovely and was given a discount for arriving close to closing time.

Great place to visit. The family has lived there since 1592. So much history and still a family home. We had a tour and fortunately for us there we were the only 2 people on it at that time, noon. The guide Hazel was fantastic and extremely informative, friendly, and funny. We were so lucky to have a personal tour. The cafe was lovely and the food was good and tasty. Staff were helpful and friendly. The fallow deer they have were being fed at the time and my good lady got the chance to hand feed one of them. Definitely recommend visiting.

Shame house was closed, but beautiful gardens, great tea room. Wonderful deer. Recommend a visit whilst in Padstow, will return to visit the house.

First visit to this really lovely house. Did the tour around the house with a guide and looked round the grounds. Well worth a visit
Amanda Wildgoose — Google review
Lovely house and gardens. Not the biggest to look around, but if you're in the Padstow area and have half a day to spare, it's well worth a visit. The tour around the house is very good. Our guide (Carol in think?) was very informative and explained all about the various rooms, paintings and other artifacts. The walk around the garden is pleasant and not to challenging.
James Minty — Google review
Great day walking around the beautiful grounds with the smell of wild garlic while walking. Stopped for coffee and cake.

What a gem, a most beautiful and interesting house. But I went with two friends and we all agreed that our guide on the day was extremely rude! Not just with us, she was unbelievably rude and belittling to a lady who dared to ask a straightforward question. On a brighter note the staff in the tearoom were excellent as was the food, generous portions and very good quality.
Erica Simpson — Google review
I attended Prideaux Place with my husband and 5 year old daughter after winning a gift voucher for a guided tour and cream tea experience. My whole family had a wonderful time, we were greeted by both the house manager and a lovely lady in the tea room and we recieved such a friendly warm welcome on arrival. The tour itself was interesting, the house is beautiful and the tour guide was very informative, personable and charismatic. My husband came away hoping to go on more guided tours in the future - so the bar has been set high! The grounds are really lovely and have a really peaceful feel to them. My daughter loved exploring in the gardens. The cream tea was delicious and all the more enjoyable when overlooking the enclosed herd of deer. I would absolutely recommend to anybody considering visiting this beautiful place.

Very historic place and a must for Rosamunde Pilcher fans. The coffee shop serves great food in a quiet surrounding. Very lovely staff. Parking is great next to the house. The lady who showed us around was nice just a little confused and could have done the tour a bit more exiting.
Wulf Flos — Google review
I had a tour of the house today with Henrietta (her first time as tour guide). I heard many present say what an outstandingly interesting speaker she was (in some cases, the best they'd ever heard). She is a relative of the family and therefore has personal knowledge and experience of growing up at Prideaux Place. The visit was so enjoyable and her enthusiasm infectious. I suspect she will be a great asset to the guide team. Thank you.

Pleasant enough grounds, didn't visit house. Very long wait for coffee and cake but good when it arrived.

Would definitely recommend. Lovely to get away from the hustle and bustle of Padstow Harbour! A very beautiful house with a very interesting history having managed to stay in the same family all these years. Amazing that the current owners still live there and seem to be happy to coexist with the tourists. It gives such a personal and interesting insight. Slightly odd tour guide but maybe that's some of the charm! Had cake and coffee in the café which was very nice. Gardens are relatively small which means they are easy to get round. Whole tour of house, gardens and cake took about 2 1/2 hours but you could spend much longer if you wanted. Cost £10 per adult for house and gardens including tour.
Emma Garner — Google review
Nice traditional residence/stately home/manor house with a huge garden & park behind. A guided tour inside the building is very interesting & awesome. You should book it, even it is not for free. Unfortunately, it's not allowed to take pictures inside the house, as it is private and some family members are still living in it. You are travelling back in time to a forgotten period of history. A really different world.

Padstow Harbour is a charming coastal destination that offers a delightful blend of maritime history, culinary delights, and scenic beauty. The harbor is bustling with both working fishing boats and pleasure craft, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the cobbled streets, admiring the colorful boats and soaking in the timeless charm of the area.
Padstow is a lovely place to go at any time of year. I went in December when it was a lot quieter bit still plenty going on. There is plenty of parking in the town & also more on the outskirts which is a fair bit cheaper. Not all of the shops were open but still some nice ones if you want a good look around. Plenty of good pubs & restaurants if you want something to eat, probably no need to book at this time of year. I went for a walk along the coast path to the beach & had it virtually to myself, the scenery around the area is fantastic. I would highly recommend a visit to Padstow at any time of year.

Loved it! Staff in shops are friendly and helpful. Great place for shopping if that's your thing. Beautiful harbour. RNLI volunteers were kind. It is steep and the streets are narrow so be prepared to walk and be mindful of the traffic. Highly recommend a visit.

Lovely visit to Padstow. Full of nooks and alleys filled with independent shops and businesses. Lovely place to visit with the famous Rock Stein Fish & Chips shop and deli. Really beautiful small harbour with lots to see and explore.

Got the ferry over from Rock , which was easy and hassle free. At 10am Padstow was lovely and relatively quiet. By lunchtime it was heaving. Lovely shopping, but expensive. Very cute winding streeto explore if you want to avoid the crowds.

As always Padstow never disappoints. The right number of shops & eating places coupled with a beautiful harbour view is always going to be extremely popular. That’s why we go mid afternoon when there is less people. The harbour car park we used had plenty of space & only a short walk into the town.
Andy Fall — Google review
Lovely pretty harbour side town. It gets very busy and if trying to park in the harbour area you need to get there before 10am or else don't bother and use the car park up the top and walk down and back up to the harbour 10/15min walk. It has been taken over by the Rick Stein franchise but just don't use their shops or eateries - there's plenty of others worthy of a visit. Lobster hatchery which the kids would find interesting. Boat trips bookable on the harbour side. Nice little day out.
Gemma Godwin — Google review
What a great little Harbour, we had a great day there . Lots of places to eat & drink. Plenty of benches to sit on in the nice weather. There are some good boat trips that sail from the harbour. Well worth a visit.

A beautiful natural harbour that has been home to fishing fleets for decades. Now it has a strong tourist offering with multiple Rick Stein establishments. Parking is a pain and it is does get crowded in the summer months. Good ferry to Rock.

Padstow Harbour is a lovely place to visit. It's clean and tidy, but the bins could do with emptying more frequently. Parking is problematic but that's only due to how popular the area is. Many shops, restaurants and pubs. I would highly recommend a visit!

A classic Cornish harbour with a good range of hospitality, shops, and pubs to ensure a great day out. A nice ferry crosses over the estuary to Rock, giving lovely views out to the Doom bar and the Atlantic.
Philip Newcombe — Google review
One of the loveliest fishing ports in Cornwall with plenty of gift shops and more of the trendy fashion boutiques, lots of pubs and restaurants there's something for all. The harbour is great for watching the world go about it's business while having a bite to eat or ice cream but watch out for the seagulls! There are a few steps as many of Cornwall's places of interest are carved out of rocky hills and inclines! The beach is a short distance from the harbour and once negotiated along a gravelly dusty path way, leads down onto a lovely smooth sandy shore line.

In Padstow, savoring a pasty is more than a culinary delight; it's a journey into local flavors and traditions. The town's ambiance, coupled with welcoming locals, creates an unforgettable coastal escape. Stopped off for a quick look about , happened to be the Christmas festival , which we were just a bit too late for . But the harbour was nice , music was playing . Some of the shops were still open. A nice little old fashioned harbour with some good shops around.

Lots of places to eat and drink, and little shops to poke about in. Lovely bakery with lots of choices of pasty fillings ( we had a lamb & mint + steak & brei ) for lunch both very tasty. The Camel Trail, a picturesque foot and cycle path, spans 18 miles along the Camel Estuary from Padstow to Wenfordbridge. This former railway line offers a flat and well-maintained surface, making it perfect for leisurely biking or walking. Along the way, you'll encounter charming towns like Wadebridge and Bodmin, as well as scenic views of the wooded countryside in the upper Camel Valley.
Great place for a Sunday bike ride. Can get a bit busy but everyone seems to be courteous to each other. Some great views and plenty of places to stop for a picnic along the way.

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Rick Stein, a renowned chef, opened his flagship restaurant in Padstow in 1975. Overlooking the Camel estuary, the stylish waterside venue offers modern fish and seafood menus. The restaurant boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and a zinc-topped seafood bar, serving top-quality fresh seafood simply cooked. Additionally, Rick Stein's establishment is known for its international reputation for serving the freshest fish and shellfish.
Stopped off at the Seafood bar next to RS fish & chips in Padstow for lunch and had the best experience. I've just recently discovered Oysters, and thought I would try some for lunch. I was having a chat with the fishmonger / chef behind the counter about my new loved interest in oysters and asked how hard it was to prepare one to eat. (James) the chef said that he would show me how to shuck an oyster that I was going to eat...... What a lovely guy and a credit to Rick Steins company. He did show me even though it was a busy little place, and they were deliciously fresh. Overall a great little lunch and I will definitely be back next year. Special mention to James a top man chef.

Visited Rick Stein's in Padstow for the first time over the summer. The lobster thermidor was an absolute standout - rich, creamy, and decadent. Though it sounds like a cliché, you can definitely taste the difference in quality with the produce being locally caught. The tempura soft shell crabs to start were a delight too - perfectly crispy and goes very well with the soy dipping sauce. My only criticism would be the price, a little expensive for what you get, but with excellent service and ambience, Rick Stein's is a great place for a special meal in Padstow.
Joseph Coupe — Google review
I must say to spend £30 on fish and chips for a family of 3 was extortionate considering the food was no better than a standard fish and chip shop. We were really looking forward to our meal as its meant to be fabulous ( we visited a few years ago and it was great) but the chips were horrible and I've had much better sausages at my local chippy. I feel very let down and ripped off for what we got. They need to seriously improve the food. The service was get you through as fast as possible and staff seemed stressed. I will not be going back. Not worth it, definitely gone downhill since we last visited.
Becca Whitmarsh — Google review
Went to see if we can get fish&chips to takeaway whilst watching sunset on the outside seats. Google closing time was misleading - they actually close at 8.30pm (not 9pm) but the lady selling takeaway was so kind that sold us the last chips sitting in the frying pan just to accommodate us 😊. Waiting staff was very kind and helpful. Car park near the restaurant is pricier than in town.

Been here a couple of years ago and more recently for a one day followed by a half day, seafood and shellfish menus. I’ll be back 😀👍

An incredible honeymoon dining experience, the food was fantastic and the staff were both knowledgeable and generous. We struggled booking a taxi back to Watergate Bay so a member of Rick Steins team kindly drove us back at the end of their shift. Could not recommend highly enough.

A VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER ----I have come to Cornwall for the last 11 years with our little Jack Russell Patch. He is now 15 years and when tired loves to go in his Doggy Buggy.I walked past the Restaurant to see a small dog on a Ladies Lap while they were eating a meal. I thought great Dog Friendly 🐕 I popped my head into Reception where a male and female were working.I asked the question "Just checking you are dog friendly???" To be told very quickly and rather ABRUPTLY NO we are not!! I was rather shocked and said there is a small dog in the restaurant in the window to which I was Told "Thats because they are staying at the Hotel" I FIND THIS TOTAL UNACCEPTABLE EITHER YOU ARE DOG FRIENDLY OR NOT.THE RULES SHOULD NOT BE SUB STANDARD . I was quite hurt by this and your staff should have more compassion and customer services skills.!!

We absolutely loved our takeaway fried fish, but considering how expensive everything was, we were overall a little underwhelmed. The whelks didn't taste fresh (dried edges and incredibly chewy), and the chips were very soggy and bland. We're glad we went for the experience, but wouldn't hurry back.

First time to Padstow on cold sunny day and happened to park next to Rick Steins. Having been put off 'local' food offered in many pubs in Cornwall, serving the same old fish and chips you can get anywhere and in rather dated, grimy environments we couldn't resist booking lunch. A 3 course 'charity' lunch they do each year for £26.50. What an amazing experience. Had been lead to believe it could be a glorified fish and chip place but is is a very fine restaurant with exceptional service, food and ambience. This was the best meal we have had for some time. Loved the artwork the Stein family have on the walls...so good not to have 'lobsters' or 'mackerel' but serious paintings. We live near Bath and can't get food as good there. Memorable and will return.

Beautiful views, fish was lovely, service very slow on a quiet day in feb. Curry sauce watery and too runny, phad Thai very watery, deserts felt like fast moving product rather than something prepared for customer on site... disappointing for a rick stein business

Had this cooking lesson booked for me by my partner as a birthday gift. It really was a wonderful experience, the teachers were fantastic in there cooking skills and teaching, they made us feel very welcome. We did the fish cooking day and everything was planned and organised so well. We met lots of lovely people as well, you get to eat what you cooked and they give you plenty to drink!! I was very pleased with my cooking certificate at the end as well and all the recipes. What a wonderful gift and experience it was.

Themed Mediterranean restaurant Caffè Rojano by Paul Ainsworth in Padstow is a great place to enjoy a range of seasonal small plates, sourdough pizzas and fresh pasta dishes. The cafe-like setting with outside tables gives it a relaxed ambiance.
This was my favourite place to eat on my trip to Cornwall. The front of house greeted me with the most warming welcome. The service from then onwards was also perfect. All my dishes was cooked perfectly and had delicious combinations of flavours. The mackerel was amazing and highly recommend it. And definitely save room for dessert!

It's been a few years since our last lucky visit. The aranchini balls were the lasting memory (not forgetting the first class service). Having a couple of days in north Cornwall and needing a treat, we simply booked a table online the day before. We decided to take a trip on the super reliable ferry service from Rock rather than driving, it kind of adds to the experience. Do check the tide times as low tide can mean a walk on the beach. This is both a pleasure in dry weather and suitable foot wear, but a set of heals and new hair in the rain could end in a heated debate.... (I have been known to plan badly🤔😜). After a very pleasurable (COVID safe) trip on the ferry and a fun filled short walk across the beach on both sides we arrived in Padstow. A warren of shops, galleries, restaurants and pubs presents it's self almost chaotically around a tranquil enclosed harbor. After a short stroll around we popped in to rojanos a little early (before anyone got the taste for shopping before lunch). We were greeted with a warm welcome and accepted into the familiar stylish establishment. The staff are attentive passionate and part of the whole experience. The menu is simple but one dish had been chosen pre arrival and did not disappoint. The pizzas are very special but we decided on a few starters and see how it goes. Drinks obviously also a treat in themselves. I had a pint of offshore pilsner (very moorish but not today). Joined by a bellini and a jug of water. Now the choices were perfect and we had a selection of four. Simply put ribs, ragu on baked potato, Crockett's and of course aranchini balls. All followed by a Manhattan (I skipped pudding as I'm on a diet 🤣) and an affogato (reported by the consumer as....., J Clarkson would say 'crisis' inducing). So pizza obviously not required. I still think we could have managed it... I have left the description of the dishes as I think you should go and try them... It's hard to describe such individual little pleasures in a few words. To conclude another lucky visit to a venue that produces both food and service that are constantly outstanding. Thank you for the experience and hope to be back soon.

Lovely restaurant, you'll need to book in advance though even off season. Great welcome, lovely friendly staff. The food is pretty good, and is value for money in this location. Most of the wine is expensive but you don't have to drink wine. The desserts are lovely too. I visit Padstow about once a year as I have relatives who are locals and live there and I always book this restaurant for one of the nights.

We had a lovely meal here on our first night away, first time visitors. The restaurant is beautiful, with wonderfully attentive staff members. Everyone that we dealt with was friendly and polite. The food was delicious, we had a burger and pizza, with the special seaweed chips. All was super tasty and the ice cream is phenomenal. We had a couple of requests, not on the menu, and both were actioned with no problems or complaints at all. We will definitely visit again.

Sit in front conservatory with the dog, nice staff, nice food, lovely and light front dining area, would avoid going upstairs, Padstow great if you stay in town, and 10am the tourist Buses start arriving ! , take your boots, be prepared to walk around the area, and later on you will have the town to yourself again. And don’t forget to go on the Sea Safari or ‘Jaws’ Speed Boat Ride ! “Take the mother in law, if she doesn’t come back, you don’t pay”

Lunch Just had to be done. What do you do in Padstow on a Sunday. There's only one destination for us. We sat out on the terrace as we had our doggies with us. You can't book this area as its walk-ins only. As they don't serve lunch until midday, we had a little drink whilst waiting for the countdown to order. They did give us a menu so we could choose what delights were instore. We went for the small plates Sicilian arancini - £11 Crisp bolognese & Parmesan risotto, truffle mayonnaise Paprika fried squid - £15 Cayenne mayonnaise, parsley, lemon & lime Cornish sea salt & pink pepper gambas - £12 Grilled king prawns, manteca, and garlic sauce Caffe Rojano fries - £6 Seaweed, rosemary, Parmesan, triple mustard mayonnaise Hispi cabbage - £8 Pecorino Romano, truffle mayonnaise, crisp onions Tenderstem broccoli - £7 Cornish sea salt, Picualolive oil.lemon Four small beers - £12 Espresso Martini - £13 Of course, we could have ordered more, but it was only a snack to keep us going for the day. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the service was cheerful.

In the end we did not go for the Winter menu. Arancini and croquetas were delicious. Couple of pizzas and a Spanish red. 50 pounds/head and could easily be more…. Its a special lunch in Padstow with attentive service. Recommend!

Had a lovely meal here sitting outside yesterday. The burger was amazing, although the salami might have been better replaced with bacon, the patty itself was cooked really nice, lovely flavour and the relish all really tasted amazing. Starters wise, we had squid and a cheese and ham flatbread, both really good. Kids had pizzas. Service staff very helpful and friendly. Menu could have offered one or two more options, perhaps locally caught seafood mains and the desserts, perhaps limited choices too. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would recommend this place.

Called in for lunch without a booking. Clearly popular even on a dull and damp February day. Staff welcoming, friendly and efficient. Food was very good, can recommend the squid and the croquettes. Not inexpensive but very enjoyable and it was my daughter's birthday so well worth it.

Really great place with good service, attentive staff with a good sense of humour. They also accommodated us as a walk in, at a busy time of year. The food was OK. My friend had a spicy pizza which he loved. I had hake, which was lovely but rather too much oil for me. The sides were great too, as was the wine, most of which you could buy by the glass which was ideal. I would definitely come back here again.

We went there on our way to Falmouth. It was a fabulous experience- the food was mouth wateringinly delicious and the service was brilliant. We had the camembert for start and that has been a non stop topic of conversation at home. It was out of this world delicious! We had a ox cheek ragu with chimmichurri, it was delicious but the chimmichirri wasn't seasoned enough for my liking but nothing extra pepper can't fix! The primitvio red wine went great with this! We had a burger, which was delicious. Never tasted such a good piece of meat before. The rest of the party had pizza, it was very good. Had great marbling underneath, mozarella was delicious bit thr tomato sauce could have been a bit more richer in flavour.

Fish and seafood restaurant
Prawn on the Lawn is a seafood restaurant in Padstow that offers up freshly caught fish and seafood dishes. The restaurant has a wet fish counter where customers can purchase fresh fish and seafood. The menu changes daily, but features the signature dish of fried prawns on the lawn.
The food on show here is phenomenal, such great produce and fantastic culanary vision. The whole menu is a highlight to me fantastic staff and great atmosphere with a selection of drinks for all tastes, will be going back 100 per cent.

Great seafood tapas in the tiniest of restaurants but super chilled out, lovely people and good music. I would highly recommend compared to the usual Cornish offering!!!!

Service great staff all really friendly and helpful with us. Bloke convinced us to try out first oysters raw and deep fried. Then scallops, tempura cod, crab keema and prawn on the Lawn were absolutely delicious, the sides were excellent too, very expensive but oh well experiences are worth tenfold what money is at the end of the day.

We were 4 old friends in Padstow for the day; POTL was recommended for lunch. We were not disappointed! The oysters were so fresh and succulent, and all slipped down with a lovely Spanish Albariño. The “small plates” were delicious, beautifully prepared and presented. A true feast of beautiful fresh seafood. A real must!
David Large — Google review
I saw this place recommended in a few lists I found on Google so decided to try it. They have specials every day and the dishes are small tapas style. We got 5 to share which was just the right amount. All the dishes were flavoured well and the seafood was cooked perfectly. The staff were all friendly and it was a bonus that dogs were welcome.
Catherine Anthony — Google review
What a great place. My girlfriend found POTL and we managed to get a table for 2 people and 2 dogs before 5pm on a Friday. The dishes are changed regularly so they will show you the boards of what is available. There are a number of tapas small plates as well as larger options. We had the seared tuna with mirin dip, scallops in Thai dressing, whole red mullet deep fried and cod. It was all amazing would definitely go back. And the service was great too. Very friendly.

We go to Cornwall every New Year and ALWAYS have a meal at Prawn on the Lawn. Today's was the best yet! Exceptional food. The most warm welcome. Dog friendly. Delicious wine. Can't fault it. Already looking to visiting next New Year!
Susan Payton — Google review
Great food and really friendly service. We loved the small and intimate feel of the place, but with lively/youthful music and vibe that meant it didn't feel at all stuffy. The food was a little slow, not somewhere to come if you're in a hurry.
Simon B — Google review
Absolutely outstanding and definitely worth one visit (if not several!). We worked our way through the tapas style starters and did not try anything that wasn’t utterly delicious. A busy restaurant in Novembers off season meant the only table on a Sunday night that we could get was at 6pm (!) we took this as a good sign and it was a great decision. Not only was the food outstanding but the team couldn’t have been more welcoming. Thanks so much, we will be back!!

Whats not to love about this spectacular space. Positioned perfectly in the harbour town of Padstow, Prawn on the Lawn (POTL) serves a uniquely fresh experience to an already well served area for great food. Servers are so welcoming and engaged in your experience, you'll feel part of the team, which given the small space, is a great help. My wife and I had several well mixed cocktails, and a stunning set of sharing plates. The Tuna, seared and served sashimi with a soy dressing was a favourite alongside scallops, served in the shell with a fragrant Thai sauce which I won't soon forget. Quick shout out to some of the finest potato side dishes ever.

Fantastic, food was sublime and the staff terrific. The bread as a starter was lovely and every dish we'd ordered just kept getting better and better. Brill for a special meal or just for relaxed, amazing food. You won't be disappointed unless you can't get a reservation!
Andy Checkley — Google review
We've been trying to get into PoL for ages, but we finally found a perfectly suited reservation, just in time for a special celebration 🎊. First thing to say, is that the PoL team are all amazing. They're all very very good a their jobs, and take pride in their craft. We appreciate your time and attention, without being overbearing or pushy. PoL is an intimate restaurant nestled in the heart of Padstow. The serve a seasonal menu which rotates with what is fresh, and what can be brought in by the fishermen. This isn't the type of place you should go with an idea of what you want to eat - this is the type of place you go to be inspired. While I could tell you what we had - there might not be much point. The menu will change with what is fresh. More important than a review of individual dishes is a review of technique, as technique should be consistent across all dishes. I can say that all of our fish was cooked to perfection. Flavours were bold where needed, and soft where appropriate (aka the flavour profiles were bomb). Each dish was consistently good. I enjoy the small plates methodology, as I enjoy trying a bit of everything. They do also have some table sharing plates if that's what you prefer. As you may be able to tell, we loved our experience. We look forward to our next visit, and the next menu we'll get to experience.

We had a wonderful family meal here on Wednesday evening. Really loved the decor and vibe inside - staff were friendly and attentive, suggesting adaptations to the main menu for our 2 young children who loved it here. Exceptional value for money given the quality of the food on offer here - stand outs were the hake and the scallops. Would happily spread that seaweed butter on my toast every morning!! Lovely to be able to sample local ales from Padstow Brewing Company across the road. Really special evening, thank you!

We visited Prawn on the Lawn in Padstow over the summer. Firstly, the quality of the food is second-to-none. Everything is incredibly fresh, with an exciting menu that changes frequently. We ordered a few dishes on the occasion we visited: a whole miso brown-butter John Dory, monkfish with a North African marinade and pollock with pine nuts, feta & basil. The only downside was that the counter-tables were quite cramped, so we were often bumping elbows while eating, but this didn't detract from the lovely food. Local wine from Trevibban Mill was also top-notch. It's recommended to book in advance.

This hip, gourmet restaurant in Padstow offers delicious burgers and interesting fish dishes. It's one of the town's most popular spots for those looking for a burger fix, with a new menu in 2022 that includes mussels cooked with local cider. The restaurant is located in the Strand and is linked to plenty of local suppliers.
What a hidden gem! I have been to padstow many times over the years and can’t believe I have never been here! The food was absolutely incredible with flavours out of this world. The octopus stew has to be one of the tastiest meals I have had in a very long time! Thank you for such a wonderful evening to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary and 12 years together. We even had a complementary little pudding to have with our cocktails. Can’t wait to return!

We had the most amazing experience Friday night. They managed to squeeze us in even though fully booked. My piggy burger was a total taste sensation along with a couple of ginger cocktails. Super overpriced! Missing several things from the menu. The sea bass was tiny and the vegetables were not good. Absolute waste of money. Over £120 for small portions of low quality food and a bottle of wine. Would not recommend. Apparently the prawns are good though 😂 maybe come if there's and offer on and it's much much cheaper definitely not worth the current price.

This is a quality place, they gave my partner and I a complimentary champagne because we had just been married. The food is really tasty done to a high quality and most importantly the food had a decent portion that actually filled you up. It’s set in Padstow a beautiful river open village at the edge of Cornwall, the restaurant is tucked away and really helps you feel quaint, the best part is the friendly welcoming nature of the staff. I recommend the octopus
Anthony Gillham — Google review
Lovely place food was nice but horrifically overpriced for what you get. 5 cokes were £25! 4 burgers and risotto with the cokes and 1 beer £167!! I had the risotto and was still very hungry. It took quite a while for the food to arrive. The food was delicious, albeit a bit over sauced, but for a family for 1 course of burgers however nice they are this seems excessive - if were more reasonable they could be a regular haunt but at those prices true locals can’t be regulars which is a great shame

The only restaurant we found in Padstow that was happy to seat us ( and feed us) after 9. Really nice food (Hake ) and friendly, efficient, speedy service. We've just cycled 80 miles from Landsend so appreciated some wholesome food. Thanks.
Richard Crossley — Google review
Good food and excellent, speedy, service. Somewhat overpriced. Hake and black rice was fresh and perfectly cooked, but overpowered by the accompanying sauce. Chicken wings starter was tasty but over-sized - a smaller and cheaper portion would have been ideal. Good atmosphere but restaurant slightly too hot and stuffy.

Booked ahead but no need as a quiet Wednesday evening. Dog friendly. Really lovely atmosphere, soft music and candles lit, a lovely space to dine in the evening. However, I advised on my dietary restrictions (gluten and dairy intolerant) and was greeted with "oh no, you're one of those". Very disappointed to hear this from what appeared to be a senior member of waiting staff. However, my intolerances were accommodated for and food was very nice. Although a gluten free bun could have been provided, I asked for 'the naked', a salad alternative. I was shocked to be charged £3.90 extra. No bun, less salad as was only given lettuce leaf and onion, no tomato which would have been included in the burger if I had it in a bun. Seemed a bit extortionate. Food and atmosphere was nice so I do recommend, I was just very disappointed by the poor attitude of the waiter.
Chloe Last — Google review
Ordered the squid and prawns to start, and by far the best starters I have had in a while and the prawns probably some of the best. We ordered the piggy burger and a bluecheese burger. Now we never finish a burger, but these were phenomenal. By far one of the best burgers we had ever eaten. Absolutely compliments to the chef, granted burgers can be easy, however many can be done wrong, these were perfect. Overall prices are higher, but I would rather pay more for excellent food. Would of liked to of seen staff a little more attentive and ideally not seeing the waitress yawning at 2pm hence the 4 stars... Overall would recommend, just from a staff POV, don't look tired around your guests.

Having booked a table, it was pointed out to us and we were left to find it. We were told a waitress would be with us soon, but never arrived, so we ordered at the bar. The table wasn't as clean as we would have liked and there were chips on the floor under it. The food was better than we expected after our first impressions, although prices were at Restaurant levels, so we had expected more. I'm sure low staffing levels were one of the issues facing local management but training could be improved.

We were in Padstow last week and we had heard that this was a good place to have a meal. We walked in and was greeted with a smile and were served straight away. We parked ourselves at a table and perused the menu finally deciding on the steak. We booked a table on line for our evening meal… 2 adults and 7 year old and our dog. We were placed at a window seat looking out into the harbour… idyllic and a great spot for me to people watch and watch the world go by. This was the third time eating here over the years but was by far the best. We had 2 courses, main and dessert and honestly the food was stein’s worthy. My husband and I had the trio of fish with buttered potatoes and my daughter had the kids pasta…. The plates could have gone back in the cupboard… not a crumb to be seen. For dessert my husband had the sticky toffee pudding and I had the lemon posset… again both were delicious … the staff were tentative to our needs and our meal here was easily one of our best nights. Thank you all for making our evening a lovely one.

We came here for just a drink but stayed for lunch! It has a family atmosphere here and it was quite busy, but the manager found us a lovely table by the window. I had steak and ale pie and my husband had fish and chips. Both were very good! Would definitely recommend coming here for a bite to eat.

We had dinner here the week before last while on holiday. The staff were all lovely, they were very short staffed but they were still all very helpful and friendly and did an amazing job. We all fancied seafood so had the muscles which were just lovely, they were perfectly cooked and the sauce among one of the best we have had. The starters we had were very good too. Nice location right in the harbour. Would definitely go back.

Ate there for a meal. Steak and Lamb were both good but a really long wait for food on quite a quiet night alongside small things like a split steak sauce just let it down a tad. The quality of the meats etc were fantastic though and staff were friendly. Very dog friendly too!

The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 was because I would have liked to have seen a couple more reasonably priced hot meals for lunch. However, the prawn sandwich I had, and the prawn baguette my daughter had, were the best we had for a long time. Also, the triple cooked chips were wonderful.

Great drinks, the food did take a little while but it was quite busy (even in winter). A good menu. Good toilets as well. The burger was a little small however was surprisingly filling and had great flavour. The mussels are very nice and soft and was a very generous portion. The roast chicken was nice and succulent w/ a great variety of platter. The fish and chips was very tasty. The batter for the fish was insanely good and the portions were great. However the mushy peas were a lil dry and a-bit overpowering.

What an amazing overall experience. The staff are so friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. The place is so charming. Beautiful large rooms. Spotlessly clean and spacious. Gorgeous food in a modern restaurant with plenty to choose from. Vast beverage choices in the busy, vibrant bar and the breakfast was to die for served in the beautiful designated area. There's also a conservatory serving fresh coffees and pastries and a beauty salon. The cherry on the cake has to be its location, right on the harbour, with ample parking just across the road. If you're looking for the perfect place to stay in Padstow this is definitely the place to be. Thankyou to Ellie and her amazing team for making our holiday a memorable one. Jo and Rob. X

I dropped in here for lunch. It was simply wonderful. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had venison sausage and mash with gravy. A dessert of sticky toffee pudding with banana ice cream. Every mouthful of our food was flavoursome and hearty. The local ales were so nice, we had a 'proper job' and a 'Tribute'. Really happy we dropped in. Highly recommended.

We walked in on a Sunday night without any reservation, and what a great decision! Lovely space inside, very friendly staff, great options on the menu and all the food was hot and delicious, we all enjoyed our meals. Must add that the brownie with banana ice cream was divine! One point was lost because when we walked in, one member of staff told us that the kitchen would close at 8 pm (10 minutes to choose!). So we chose quickly only to be informed afterward by another member of staff that the kitchen would only close at 9pm... so much stress for nothing. Also, there was no soap on the bathroom. 😕

Gorgeous scones and breakfast options. I've only ever visited for this so can't comment on the rest of the menu but if it's the same quality, then you won't be disappointed. Dog friendly seating area outside too. You can't book for breakfast and it gets busy but also has a quick turnaround too, so you might have to wait a little for a table depending on the time. The only downside to our visit is that the lift wasn't working and its up a decent flight of stairs. So not overly accessible for those that have difficulties. We had a pram so had to carry that up and down. Credit to the waiter who asked us if we needed help down, which we accepted as negotiating a labrador and baby down stairs is a handful for two people. This hasn't put us off though... we like good food too much.

Service was excellent, very good quality food, but not the best breakfast in town, (to me, Ben's crib box still has that title) a hash brown or potato rosti and a choice of how you would like your egg cooked (not just fried) wouldn't go a miss. Expensive

Amazing lunch with stunning views. It's slightly off the beaten path for Padstow, so it isn't quite as hectic as everywhere else. That doesn't mean there won't be a queue for a table, but it does mean that once you sit, everything is fairly calm and relaxed. Great spot to power up, play some mini golf and then go to lunch. They don't take bookings, so first come first serve.

Lovely location away from the main hustle and bustle of the Harbour with a nice view. Food was good, service could have been a bit friendlier.
Rhoda Schnitzer — Google review
This was a nice experience due to the location, but don't visit when hungry. You are going to pay through the nose for a nice view. I write this disappointed in poor value for money even taking into account "Padstow prices". The restaurant is nice, the staff were friendly and fairly speedy (it's out of season) and the view across the harbour is gorgeous. We even had a friendly robin bob about our table. But we ordered the "full Cornish"... Which wasn't as "full as you'd expect for £13.50..... one tiny sausage, half a pudding tiny sausage, two small shrivelled bacon strips that shattered as overcooked. Two big mushrooms but were watery. A pot of beans holding a tablespoon of beans max. A tomato of average size that was underdone. One egg fried, crispy (not good) and a slice of toast cut in half. There are photos here in reviews that show a full plate, but the coffee cups and plates aren't that big. I couldn't help think it poor value for money- meat's expensive but they could up it to two eggs and ask how you want them cooked. And add another piece of toast, they already give you two pats of butter. This wouldn't cut that far into their profits. Speaking of which, don't bother coming for the golf. I understand it's been remodelled in recent years but it's a poor course. Which didn't make us feel any better after shelling out £33 for two breakfasts and two coffees, we were then charged £8.50 each to use such a poor course. No I am not kidding. Kids are £6.50 each. They keep the putters outside so bring your own ball and grab one and at least then you'd feel you'd got some value back on your breakfast...! Curiosity satisfied, won't be coming back.

This is a great spot to visit on your holidays, and recommend a game of crazy golf beforehand! Menu is varied and a favourite with the kids. Winter opening hours are reduced so be sure and book!

What a meal we had Saturday night absolutely beautiful and very tasty cocktails. The staff were lovely and helped me out with a question that ended up being a big yes. Thank you to the staff. We will definitely be back again soon
