The Lion Salt Works is an educational museum that delves into the past of salt production at a restored open-pan salt-making site. Despite starting their business in the midst of a global pandemic, Sharon and Gary Newton successfully established Newtons Nosh Catering, which earned them the coveted title of best burger. On a rainy day during February half term, a family visited this museum with their 12 and 14-year-old daughters.
A fabulous museum with a lot of stuff for the kids to do as well. Extremely interesting and informative. I learnt quite a lot about salt production. There's quite a nice little cafe area with good coffee, but the food selection was a little limited when I was there.

It's ok. Fun enough for a day out. It's very quiet! We were the only family visiting. It's fun to explore and see, we learned lots about how they make salt! Great kids park to play outside. Staff friendly and helpful. They had a kids activity sheet as a little extra for them.
Tim Bull — Google review
Great Museum to go to kill an hour or so, plenty of mapped areas and interactive things to do for children and adults, but also shows good history of the place.
Robert Jones — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We knew nothing at all about the history ofsalt production in Cheshire so came away informed. Lots of interactive stuff. Children's play area and access to the Trent and Mersey Canal for a pleasant walk. Very nice cake in the cafe served by a lovely helpful member of staff.
Jan Hodkinson — Google review
A great place to visit. It was well set out and presented it fantastically. You don't realise how much history there is to the salt process, we'll worth a visit.
Andrew Davis — Google review
An excellent spot to stop and see the salt history of Cheshire. We loved it and the buildings are nicely restored.

Went on a wet day in Feb half term with my daughters age 12 and 14. They objected to having only one bar of signal but I really enjoyed this museum. I had been curious before and was not disappointed. The whole salt industry in this area is fascinating and a great mix of science, geography, and history to learn. I especially enjoyed the recorded explanations with seats (I struggle to stand for long). My favourite was actually the one about the nature coming back to the flashes post industry.
Alison Statham — Google review
I've never thought that there's a museum of salt in the UK. It's a very interesting place to visit. Very interactive. However, few interactive tools/machines are broken. Hopefully they can fix it soon.
Dianita Hapsari — Google review
A lovely museum. The exhibitions are well thought through and detailed. Unfortunately there were a couple that were not working but this did not detract from the experience. Would highly recommended for a lovely morning out.

We had a great visit to the salt works. Mike took us round on a very comprehensive tour. He has a clear understanding of the business, history, industry, site and the renovations. This was clear as he didn’t have a script and tailored his commentary to our interests and knowledge. The displays are very well presented and there’s loads to entertain the kids. Thank you.
Steven White — Google review
Well presented history of salt production in Cheshire without being too "synthetic". Exhibits and buildings have not been overly restored (or not restored at all) but give a good insight into how salt production used to be. A good way to pass a couple of hours.
Viv Holder — Google review
Very well and sympathetically restored salt works. There was copious information and interactive buttons and screens. Excellent volunteer guide who was very knowledgeable and interesting. I now know everything I need to know about salt! Would recommend for anybody, there was an adequate play area and wheelchair accessibility. Great place to visit for a couple of hours and has a cafe. Very pleasant and friendly staff as well.

Amazing venue to watch the fantastic Martyn Joseph. Lovely staff, easy car parking, reasonable bar, very comfy. It's a really great location.

Absolute gem of a place. Lived in cheshire for 30 years and never heard of this place but decided to try it on a recent visit to northwich. The exhibition is great and really brings the salt works to life and the importance of salt to the area. Highly recommend.
Matthew Bain — Google review
Really interesting place to visit. Very informative staff and a small cafe selling drinks and snacks. There is also a great play area for children.
Alison Cheshire — Google review
We LOVED our day out here! Me and my partner are both in our 20s and came alone, so we were able to take our time reading the exhibit information and listening to the audio histories provided by local people. I feel we learnt so much about an industry we really didn't know existed, and had a wonderful time being able to look around. The exhibits do a great job of bringing the buildings alive as well as showing you the different jobs and processes involved. I cannot recommend a day out more and especially at such a reasonable price! Would be good for a rainy day too as almost entirely based indoors!

Weaver Hall Museum & Workhouse, formerly known as the Salt Museum, is a captivating destination that showcases the history and industry of West Cheshire. Through films, reconstructions, models, and intriguing artifacts, visitors can explore the stories related to market towns, transport, archaeology, and the renowned Cheshire salt industry.
The Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse - A great old building that celebrates the various industries in Cheshire What is the Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse? The Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse is a museum that is located in Northwich, Cheshire. There is a partial workhouse with a museum that emphasises the different industries that played a key role in the lives of people that lived in Cheshire. This included salt making, coal mining, ship-yards, and the Police. This museum holds a number of temporary and permanent exhibitions that take place throughout the year. On the Ground Floor there is a small cinema for an introductory video, temporary exhibition space and the partial workhouse. On the top floor there is the different exhibitions about some of the important industries that played a significant role to the people of Cheshire. Exhibitions Visited All Our Stories This exhibition is an empowering one that highlights the challenges that people face whom have learning disabilities. This group of people held a play. This small exhibition is playful, interactive and engaging. The props on show were lovely and unique. They helped to tell the story. This consisted of Gruel which is old food that has oats. There was also a bowl and spoon. In addition there was a bell to determine the time. There was a dress up corner with a great variety of clothes and hats that you can wear and try on. The material was lovely but it was heavy at the same time. The Workhouse The introductory video in the cinema was good. It gave you a short insight into the lives of people that lived at the workhouse all those years ago. A partial one is still part of this building. It was great knowing that people were segregated based on sex, age and other factors. Learning about school life was interesting. It was cute seeing the letters of the alphabet and the times tables. It gave it a true school vibe. There was also a desk for the headteacher or teacher to stand behind with a old device for writing as pens and pencils were not used at that time. Permanent Exhibitions These exhibitions were informative and inspiring. They celebrated many industries that were significant to the people that lived in Cheshire. I loved how open plan it was where each small area had enough information that was not too much with great pictures that were eye catching. The range of objects relating to industries such as Salt making, Coal mining and the Police were enticing too. It was also great learning about working conditions and pay of the workers at that time. It was great that these industries were explained in different means including art, objects and videos which made the experience an engaging one. Entry and Admission You are not required to book online however you will be required to pay on arrival in order to enter the museum. For pricing details then check out the museum’s website for further information. Facilities The Weaver Hall and Workhouse has a Tea Room with the library. They serve Tea and Coffee with a selection of biscuits. If that is not your thing then there are some cafes nearby. Toilets are on site. Lighting and Access The lighting at this museum was decent throughout most areas apart from the small cinema room downstairs for the video. This allowed me to use all my senses to have a fulfilling experience which also helped to understand the themes and information discussed with the various objects. In relation to access then there is a small step in order to enter the building. There are stairs or a lift to access the exhibitions on the top floor. Parking The Weaver Hall and Workhouse has its own designated car park that also has disabled bays for those whom have a Blue Badge. If you love learning about the workhouse life and the different industries in an informative, interactive and engaging way then come and visit the Weaver Hall and Workhouse for a great day out.

We were in the area and popped in. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were free to go around and view the exhibits ourselves. There was a temporary exhibit in there so I think there would be new things to see each time. As museums go, it’s a small place so easy to pop in and fill an hour or so if you’re in the area. Lots of interesting things about the history of the area, not just the workhouse itself. There are some interactive areas such as the mock classroom, and a cinema room. Great if you’re a history lover!

Very enjoyable visit. Polite and helpful staff. Coffee ☕️ toilet and lift available.
Glenys Dickson — Google review
Nice museum with lots of local history exhibits and all located in the old Workhouse. Cheap entry and very nice staff working there too. Also has a small cafe on site as well.
Robert Baker — Google review
Absolutely fantastic. I accompanied my sons year 6 class on a trip to Weaver Hall and all of us adults were blown away by how incredible it was. The information given to the children was done in an engaging, age appropriate manner and they were laughing and chatting about it all the way home. There was also a cafe and small shop on site. I highly recommend this place for school trips.
Amelia Perkins — Google review
Good to find part of an original workhouse in use as a museum and library, with Workhouse room sets too. Helpful timeline and a great model illustrating the gradual development of the institution. Helpful staff too.
Phillip C — Google review
A very interesting place to visit, not far from Central Northwich, which provides an informative display of the history of Northwich. Housed in a former Workhouse, you can learn about the hard lives of the former inhabitants, as well as other facts about the town, including its' Salt Mining industry. Apparently, you can get 10% off entry upon presenting a receipt from a recent visit to The Lion Salt Works - in the northern part of Northwich (August 2023).

Very helpful, friendly, staff. Great visit when done in conjunction with the salt works. A trip to one entitles a discount to the other.
Connor Bannon — Google review
Terrible. We took all of the children to the science event in Feb half term, stood there for 30 mins and no one came to us. We had to ask 4 times what the activity was. Then we were told they had no batteries or copper left. Absolutely so badly organised. We came half way through so there should have been materials left. Children utterly disappointed. They shouldn’t put these events on if they can’t be run properly.
Rachel Sudlow — Google review
Very interesting museum with lots more to learn about other than just the workhouse that it used to be. Fills out some of the local history gleaned from other museum visits!

The Anderton Boat Lift is a remarkable structure designed to raise boats from one river to another, earning the nickname "Cathedral of the Canals." It was voted Visitor Attraction of the Year in 2018. Families can enjoy witnessing the lift in action and take the Top of the World Tour on the canal system. This historical installation allows boats to pass between River Weaver and a canal, offering a visitor center with interactive displays and a cafe.

Some shops change their working times temporarily and don't display it anywhere which is a massive inconvenience. Other than that nice modern place.

Nice oppen space and adequate shopping. Fantastic car park that will always attract my custom.
Roy Morbey — Google review
A white elephant which should never been built in the age of the internet and online buying. There are only a few shops open and I feel sorry for them as most of the other shopping space to rent is all empty plus if you look at what used to be the main shopping centre near the bus stops is now full of empty shops.
Alan Massey — Google review
There could be so much more, too many empty units however the shops that are there are well maintained, great staff who are very helpful. It's great to have a cinema and a good variety of places to eat and drink, it would be so much better when those empty units are full
Jenna crump — Google review
It is a lovely place with lots of shops for clothes, coffee and cinema. There are bars and restaurants. At Christmas, there are lights and decorations everywhere which make it look very nice. They regularly have events around this area which are high-quality and also bring in a lot of people to see them. You can enjoy looking at the river, whilst having a coffee coffee or a beer in summer. It is very nice.

Nice transition to Northwich high street. Has a lot of shops, plenty of parking space, and close by to nice walks. Seeing more people around since restrictions lifted.
Pimonmal Rienmahasarn — Google review
Great place especially when theres an event on. Strange amount of weird drunk kids about though.
Potteries Buddha — Google review
Looked a little empty and sad with so many empty spaces after, I am sure like any other high streets or shopping centres in the UK, COVID pandemic. Locals were trying to keep the place going though. I liked finding Rymans stationers there. Not many high streets have them these days.
Kay S Ford — Google review
Great evening. We went to Dockyard and played shuffleboard, darts and pool. Was with a group of chaps but surprised that it's also ideal for the family and I will definitely be taking the kids soon. Combined with plenty of places to eat, clothes shops and a cinema (and now a gym I hear), its becoming a real credit to the town
Garry Lee — Google review
The car park over Asda is excellent, but because I park there, I naturally use the shops nearby.
Roy Morbey — Google review
Large shopping centre on banks of River Mersey. Personally I quite like it although I understand the locals are not happy with it. Like all shopping centres it's struggling for footfall but it has a large free car park and it's riverside location is a bonus.
Ian Brunt — Google review
Looks lovely and great potential.... but only a couple of shops so far. If and when more arrive, should be a great shopping venue. Wildwood looks amazing. But only 1 vegetarian option and no vegan options. Longer term Northwich residents lament the closure of the older shops and vibrancy of the town centre. Also the new one way system to direct all traffic past the town centre has increased traffic right back to Hartford! They'll have to do a really good job to overturn local opinion. Update as of May 2018...new "major retailer" promised soon. Can't wait😀.
Jane L — Google review
I simply don't understand why they have hundreds of disabled parking spaces but only 5 parent and child.. its a shopping complex obviously people come with kids and the multi story parking caters for the blue badge and not for people bringing their kids to get new clothes etc...if you can't walk from your car to the shops but you can walk just fine around the shops simply doesn't make sense....
Geegee — Google review
Easy parking and easy access to shops fron the car park by stairs, lifts and escalator into Asda. Nice new shops but as with all towns, quite a number of unfilled shop units which is sad to see. Great picture house.

Initial impression: The leisure centre in Northwich Memorial Court has a clean and fresh atmosphere, resembling a new facility. It offers a comprehensive itinerary with various amenities such as a gym, pool, indoor sports areas, swimming facilities, and an array of classes. Additionally, there is an on-site theater for entertainment purposes. The dining options are pleasingly diverse with food and beverage eat-in facilities available. Convenient and reasonably priced car parking is easily accessible.
First impression:- Clean and fresh feel, still like new. Comprehensive itinerary. Gym, pool, indoor sports, swimming and lots of classes. Plenty of variety for everyone. Plus a theatre on site too. Food and beverage eat in facilities available with a varied Menu which looked appealing. Car parking convenient and not too expensive.

Been here for a few comicons and wrestling events and its always spotlessly clean, well kept and has a great couple of bars as well!
Potteries Buddha — Google review
Went for the first time to watch circus of horrors last month. It's a lovely theatre, the staff were friendly and helpful and my view of the stage was great. Service at the bar was surprisingly fast considering how busy they were, and there was plenty of free, well lit parking. I'd definitely go again.

From what I saw and from what I was told from my niece about the changing areas, everywhere is clean and tidy. There are a few viewing areas of the pool, one next to the cafe and one by the pool. All staff were fantastic when we paid for swimming and when using the cafe

Another successful afternoon filming a show, staff always helpful and good support from the technical staff.
Martyn Chidlow — Google review
We have had excellent nights out watching varied shows, they are always excellent, the only problem when it is tiered seating the heat in the back rows is unbearable as you are up nearer to the ceiling. The aircon is not good enough for the summer months. The staff said it was not working properly so this needs to be addressed for comfort.
Valerie Smith — Google review
I have never been in the building before ,let alone watch a show. The cast put on a fantastic performance of Oliver. I watched this show in the west end some years ago featuring Rowan Atkinson as Fagin and other than the obvious superior costumes and sets this was just as good. The singing was superb and I had to keep reminding myself that all these actors are amateurs!! Has a drink from the bar at the interval and it was priced competitively. Well done Northwich. I will be visiting again soon😁

Charmaine Abbott — Google review
I pay £34 a month for an absolutely appalling service. 1. The music at the gym is way too loud, and even with over-the-head earphones, I am not able to listen to my own thing and am just forced to endure this Boom Boom music as if we were in a Disco. One can listen to this “music” even in the changing room. Taking into consideration that most of the customers are middle age, Brio should really consider putting the volume down and stopping these young so-called “instructors” to inflict us with the noise that they call music. 2. Most of times there won’t be hot water in the shower and not even a notice to let us know. I have the option of going back home smelling and sweating or dying in their freezing showers. 3. I don’t have why to clean/wipe the machines after using them, the same way I don’t have why to clean my table after I go to a Coffee shop because I am the costumer. You should hire people to do that or tell your instructors to do it, as these youngsters are so haughty they would do well in learning some meekness. 3. I have seen several times your young instructors just talking around and flirting among them doing absolutely nothing, maybe they should report the several machines that don’t work or are faulty, and do something good with their time for the money they are being paid. 4. A few days ago I saw a kid crying let down because the swimming pool was full and couldn’t get in. Brio should provide another system, so everyone can enjoy the swimming pool, those families probably travel far just to enjoy for a few hours. At least I have the decency and self-awareness not to use the swimming pool on midterm to let others enjoy it.

We had our 3 year olds birthday party at brio today. We went for the bouncy castle party with food supplied by the brio team. We were advise we could arrive at anytime to set up and when we got there the room had all the tables and chairs set and the bouncy castle and soft play items available. The team were quick to help get the music set up and fans to help keep the room as cool as possible. Food was lovely. Arrived in individual boxes with an activity book and was made of good quality ingredients. At the end of the party the team advised they would do the clean up also. Money well spend and 18 very happy, sweaty toddlers.

I have rung this place 20 times this morning but I get cut off because no one answers the phones. I having been waiting a month for a refund for swimming lessons that were paid for upfront . I would not advise anyone to pay up front for lessons. It is impossible to get your money back!!! We have 3 full memberships for brio but I am not sure that I will be renewing them this year.! I went onto chat and was told to go to the northwich brio. Very disappointed with this company.

I would like to share my experience of 'Oliver' that I attended yesterday. It was really brilliant. All the cast had excellent singing voices and the whole performance was superior to many professional ones I have been involved in and seen. Fagan,Sykes,Nancy, the sellers and Mr Bumble stood out. Thank you so much for a brilliant afternoon where I saw so many children enjoying the spectacle also.

Parking can be busy at times when venues are on but not too bad. The set up for the gym, pool and spa it not that great but I'll get used to it. Overall good place
Cristian Dobric — Google review
Good venue for shows and music, seats need to staggered and they are hard. Drinks are a bit pricey. Will definitely go again to a music gig.
STEPHEN PETER GOUGH — Google review
They want 30 days notice and an extra months payment to CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP... You have to queue a minimum of 20 minutes at reception, just to scan your card to go in the gym. The showers almost never work, and when they do its cold water only. The gym is about as big as my trouser pockets. The pool is always too full. What does my £29 a month go towards? (Baring in mind this was raised from £26 a month with zero days notice, where you require 30 days notice for a cancellation) Honestly, if your thinking about signing up, I highly advise that you seek alternate places. This place is a shambles!
Kris Caldicott — Google review
Pool nice, usually warm and clean. Other facilities such as Gym and spa always seem busy. Reasonably priced activities. Theatre is a nice size. Been to a few shows. Cafe is great when open. Shame really. Imagine it's a staffing issue. Staff on main desk always friendly and helpful.

The Fishpool Inn is a charming rustic establishment in Delamere, Cheshire. The venue features unique animal-themed paintings and offers delicious pizza cooked in a traditional wood stone oven. Despite its plain white facade, the interior of the inn is beautifully designed with various seating options, including cozy booths and comfortable armchairs on pale floorboards adorned with rugs. With a long bar and a dining area at the rear, guests can enjoy modern British pub classics with local influences.
Had an absolutely fabulous lunch, the food was amazing! We shared a hummus flatbread to start, it was huge and really tasty. Then had the small fish and chips, that really couldn't be called small! A friend had the pie and chips, that was absolutely delicious. The pie was enormous, with lovely thick juicy pieces of steak and gravy. I had a brownie sundae for dessert, it was really yummy and the chocolate brownie was amazing too! There was even a menu for dogs to have a dinner!! Can't wait to go back!

Beautiful food..excellent staff...no complaints at all. During our lunch we had the pleasure of being served by four members of staff who all took the time to speak to us and engage in conversation, whilst diligently doing what waiters do. Seemed genuinely interested in how our experience was panning out. Would be a regulars if we didn't live 2 hours away.

We had a great first time at The Fishpool Inn and will definitely be back. The food was lovely and well presented. All staff were pleasant and accomodating. We brought a birthday cake and the lady we spoke to (we think a manager) was happy to help us with this. They brought it out at a good time complete with a sparkler candle! They even brought over a cake knife and plates! Thank you Fishpool.

Amazing atmosphere and decorations. We sat next to the fireplace and the whole dinning-out was very cosy. The service was very fast and professional. The food was also great. I had a parsnip soup which was a bit small, but very tasty. For main I had a steak burger with blue cheese, made with all fresh ingredients and served very pretty. This place is also dog friendly but there are areas where dogs are not allowed, so it's great for everyone. Will be back for sure.

Popped in by chance after looking at a local wedding venue and we were totally blown away! Doesn't look that impressive from outside but inside is amazing! Lots of quirky decor which is backed up by friendly staff, amazing food and good drinks. Be warned though the menu looks so good you'll want to try it all so you won't just go there the once! We will be back next time driving this way 😁

First impressions were that this looked like a very nice restaurant & pub & having the menu available online was useful to check if we could eat there. However the front of house staff weren't very welcoming when we entered, they didn't acknowledge us & when we spoke to them rather than responding verbally they just showed us to a table. The wait staff definitely made up for this initial poor show though. Knowledgeable staff member, who when she didn't know about one question quickly found out the answer. There is an excellent & varied menu & drinks list. Including good options for those with special dietary needs. The food was delicious & even the kids portions were a good size. We had a main meal each & a drink & the bill came to ~£80 (2 adults, 3 kids).

Absolutely fabulous. We had a block booking of 14 and submitted our food order 3 days before. Upon arrival the Christmas decorations was stunning and made a fantastic backdrop for our photographs which the staff were only too pleased to help with. The Christmas menu was a reasonable price however I did think the price for alcohol was a bit expensive. The food itself was top draw and and was delivered without a hitch because of the pre-order. Top marks to the professionalism of the staf and we will be booking Christmas next year again as well as other occasions throughout the year. Thank you

Dropped in, having never been before, for lunch and to work. The pub was fully booked and busy but the manager kindly found me a table near the bar after originally being told there was no room at the inn. Had a superb pizza and half a pint of Westwood Ales Cheshire Cat Blonde, which was fab. I’d definitely visit again for a meal and book ahead. I really appreciated them letting me work for a couple of hours , as it’s really not that kind of place. It’s a fab foodie destination.

All of us had a Sunday dinner, chicken or beef, which were great. Food service was quick and staff were faultless. Will be definitely be returning for the food. Only reason for 4* was the price of drinks - £6.50 for a pint of watery Guinness and in excess of £4 for a pint of Diet Pepsi.

As always very enjoyable and the food was magnificent. I did find a fly/insect in my desert as it was brought over, however this was taken away and replaced (I believe) with a fresh desert. Nothing more was said on the matter

Excellent service, atmosphere and food. The moment we walked in there were dogs happily playing about, the fireplace and lighting was so cosy and inviting and the roast was hearty and sticky date pudding was devine. I was absolutely full. Would definitely recommend people book online in advance as it fills quick!

Visited, based on recommendation from one of its sister pubs (The Bears Paw). Looks very nice from approach and inside and very comfortable seats offered. Menu looked very nice and proved difficult to decide. Starters: I went for the Ox Cheek, which I've had elewhere and usually proves delicious. Unfortunately, although it turned up promptly and looking nicely presented, it proved to be 75% jelatanous fat, which, of course, is very disappointing given the price of starters alone (photo attached). I know 'fats' can add to the taste, but this was not what was expected given previous servings. My wife didn't opt for a starter, but we shared a goats cheese flatbread (also as shown). This was very nice and by no means disappointing. Mains: I went for the 'A la Plancha' Bacon Joint with marmalade glaze and fried egg. Again, it looked nicely presented and tasted very nice indeed. Just (again) disappointed, by the overly thick layer of jelatanous fat. This could have potentially been made into a cracking, but ended up being an inch thick slab of leftovers. Otherwise, the meal was lovely. The dear wife went for the 'Peruvian marinated Chicken Burger', served with hand cut fries and a delicious, if not perplexing, green sauce mayonnaise. (I just wish I ordered what she did). Dessert: I went for the ye olde traditional Banoffe Knickerbocker Glory, and the wife had the Elderflower Creme Brulee. Both were very nice and washed down with pleasing drinks. Bill was, as expected, very expensive. Moreso given the disappointing starter and main for myself. A 'discrete' 7.5% tip is automatically added, so be aware. Yes, the service was great, but if I visit again, I'll definitely reconsider the options. Aimed a bit more towards the 'la dee daa' side of Cheshire 🧐, which I can do, but prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, like its sister pub, as mentioned earlier.

A⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Came here as a party of 5 for my sisters birthday! First time but certainly not the last. The service provided from our waitress Gabby was fantastic, in addition we had Amy waiting on us too! Nothing was too much for trouble for them. Faultless meal, faultless service. Food was amazing. Will be back. Thank you for a fantastic and unforgettable night. Absolutely love my new glass too! Really nice touch.

Very nice steak and sides, with very good service. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The only reason it isn't 5 stars is the price is far higher than I would expect for the portion sizes, I have been to better Steak grills with better food at better prices.

Great place, staff are on Parr with the best, However this restaurant has plenty of alternatives in the food department besides its main theme which is steaks,,,, But this is its down fall, and pub that specialises in one type of food should excel in that food and this case was STEAKS, and they failed, I asked for my steak medium? It came rare, my daughter asked for her steak medium rare? Came medium well, and my wife wanted well done? And it was as she liked it... So I would expect a chef to know how to cook a steak if this is its main selling point of the restaurant, and it wasn't just our table, their was a couple next to us with exactly the sane problem and stated they would never come back, As for me I'm willing to give this restaurant another go and see if it was just a one off, after all they did offer to take our steaks away and cook 2 fresh ones,so on this should be commendable.... By the way the burger is fantastic and the steak Pie is big and well filled, Price for meal for 4 adults with starters, mains, deserts came to £268

Nipped in on a Saturday night. We were politely greeted and seated, even though we hadn’t booked, Our server was polite, informative and attentive. I chose a Tomahawk steak, my better half a fillet, both cooked to our liking and vey tasty. I can’t comment on starters or deserts as I didn’t have them, though what I saw coming out of the kitchen looked nice. The atmosphere was nice, it was fairly busy but not overly loud so you could still hold a conversation, nice bit of background music, slightly dimmed lighting etc. Added point to note, we also tried another steak venue fairly local to this (if you’re in the area you’ll know), as it is just a little closer to home. A 6pm at night, despite being less than half full, we were told it would be a 2 1/2 hour wait, even though there was only 2 of us, no attempt to try and accommodate at all, won’t be going there again.

Amazing, best steak iv ever eaten. Puts miller and carter under the table, cooked to perfection and, truffle and cheese chips are to die for. Chef Dan really knows how to present his dishes and it's been perfect the past times we visited, also a member of the waiting staff named Ross makes a mean long island tea!

Cheshire Grill exceeded our expectations in every way. The festive charm of the Christmas decor transformed the place into a delightful setting. The staff's warmth and attentiveness made the experience truly special. Ross, in particular, went above and beyond, ensuring our meal was nothing short of amazing. From ambiance to service, Cheshire Grill delivered an outstanding dining experience.

Visited here for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Decor is gorgeous and a very varied menu to choose from, including a good cocktail menu 🍸 To start, my partner had the black pudding scotch egg and I had the croquettes, both really yummy! Mains were really good too. Wait for food wasn't long but the restaurant was fairly quiet. Friendly staff too 🙂

Lovely meal after I won a £50 gift card from their Facebook competition. We had Sunday lunch and a couple of cocktails. It was my mums birthday and our dog's birthday and the staff brought us a glass of fizz for my mum and a paw star martini for our dog on the house which was lovely. Thank you! Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and beautiful cocktails!

Chime, a restaurant in Northwich, recently underwent new ownership, which can often lead to apprehension about changes. However, fret not! The food at Chime remains delectable, the staff continues to be delightful, the drinks are still impeccable, and the establishment itself remains an undisputed gem. Its location in Northwich is indeed fortunate. Chime offers outstanding cuisine, excellent beverages, and top-notch service.
Spot on food, spot on drinks and spot on service. We are moving to Hartford later this year and are so glad Chime will be a walk to our new house. Thank you for a brilliant evening tonight.

Had a booking for 8pm on Saturday, arrived at 7:50pm. Got some lovely drinks straight away and asked if we could order food. We were told to wait a minute, unfortunately didn't get seen to until 8:30pm by that point I'm pretty sure the wine had gone straight to my head. Anyway, the food totally made up for it. Will probably book earlier next time. Cheers! 🍷

Visited for a friend's birthday, a group of us. The food took a while to come out, I had to wait 15 mins for my pizza to come out while almost everyone else in the party ate theirs. Slightly disappointed in the wait, I didn't make a fuss as it was a birthday meal. The pizza dough was dry in parts, another member of the party who also had a pizza said the same. However, the salt n pepper chips were amazing. Unfortunately for me, I won't be in a rush to return.

I was really looking forward to trying this 'restaurant' as I had driven past many times and wanted to give it a try. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I chose the Calamari as a starter, as I was told it was fresh. It wasn't it was frozen, chewy and tasteless. Then after a long wait for the main course, which was the pie of the day/ week and it was described as a hand made pie containing tender pieces of lamb with mint in flaky pastry. It didn't live up to its description, the stringy bits of lamb in the undercooked pastry covering was tasteless, with no trace of mint. The pastry wasn't cooked, it was just dough. Unfortunately it didn't end there! The seasonal root vegetables appeared dehydrated, cooked to death and tasteless. I ate what was cooked and left the majority of the meal. When the waitress collected our plates. I explained that I was happy with what I had and she seemed to think I was joking! I asked her to take my plate to the 'chef' and to ask him if he would be prepared to pay for such an dreadful meal? Then nothing, we sat at our table for 10 minutes or more, no one approached us. So we went downstairs abd asked for the bill. My meal cost had been removed but what was annoying was no forn if apology was forthcoming. Then to add insult to injury they had over charged me £2.50 for a bottle of soda water, that I didn't have. One thing for sure is that we won't be visiting again, there are plenty of other restaurants offering better food and service, give this place a wide birth they don't deserve your custom.

I rarely leave feedback but Billy (in particular) and the team at Chime deserve a mention. My hubby and I spent an afternoon there and Billy looked after us - what an amazing person. He made us cocktails to die for and treated us in a way rarely experienced in this day and age. Such a wonderful afternoon and all primarily attributed to Billy. This place is "our special place" and made all the better by the team (I wish I could keep you all to myself). Thanks Chime Tracey and Ian Purvis-Jones

On friends recommendation I took my daughter and son in law for the roast dinner about 3 weeks ago. It was lovely. Consequently I went with a friend to hopefully enjoy another lovely roast dinner last evening. How disappointed I was. When I went with my family the lamb shanks were served with roast potatoes, parsnips, Yorkshire pudding, some greens and carrot. Last night the lamb shank was served with mashed potatoe and about 2O small carrots. Hugely disappointing!! My friend didn't want me to make a fuss but I did have a word with the waitress about it and asked her to pass on to management that I was less than happy! I hope this was done!! Perhaps there had been a flood of lunchtime orders for the roast and therefore the usual ingredients were not available. Had this been explained we would have gladly chosen something else!! I won't be rushing back needless to say!!

Really poor on all fronts. Friday night 6.30pm, we were one of three tables in, loads of staff on. Drinks order was strange, ordered a bottle of red then tried to finish the sentence to ask for some water but the waiter ran away before we could. Wine arrives, bottle dumped on the table with glasses, didn’t pour... didn’t even take off the cap. Should’ve checked the food menu before we ordered the wine as it was so uninspired we decided to just get some starters and head elsewhere. That and the price, 18 pounds for a cheeseburger! Shocking. 15 minutes later we were given opportunity to order these starters by the waiter who said ‘I thought someone else was taking your order’. We had the following. Bread and oil - had to ask for the oil as he forgot, some bread was burnt but placed face down so we wouldn’t see… we left these pieces on the plate, no check to raise this and no query when they cleared the plates. 6 pounds I think? Chilli prawns. Tiny prawns on some bread with balsamic and sliced chillies. 9 quid. Goats cheese croquettes - not bad actually. One was a lot more cooked than the other 2 but fine. Staff were just poor, think the manager was there but more interested in chatting and wandering about. Finished our dinner at Hartford hall where we were staying. Friendly staff and great food. Could’ve saved ourselves the walk!

Gastropub
The gastropub Cock O' Budworth is situated in a delightful position, offering outdoor seating both at the back and on the side. During the summer, it is highly recommended due to its dog-friendly policy. Parking is hassle-free for everyone, and even when I visited, it wasn't overcrowded, so no reservation was necessary. While the menu had a satisfactory range of dishes, it wasn't overly extensive. However, prices were competitive and the quality of food was excellent.
Great pub, really welcoming even though we turned up in shorts and sandals after a long bike ride. They recommended the local IPA, which was great. Food was really good and definitely value for money. The staff couldn't have been nicer.

The public house is in a lovely location with out door seating at the rear and the side. In the summer a must, it is also dog friendly. No troubles parking for any person. Not crowded on the occasion I was there, no need to book. Meal menu was adequate, but not extensive. Prices competitive and the food was very good. Did not really see the beer or ales. Well worth another visit.

Steak Sub Roll The meal was below par, mostly due to the cheap dense seemingly frozen stone cold roll in which the minuscule steak was served. The fries were hot and the waitress was lovely. The place has been closed for months for a refurb, it’s a lovely pub, it didn’t look too different to me and all the staff are new so hopefully things on the plate will improve.

On my first visit to Woodpecker Cookhouse + Pub, I arrived for lunch without a reservation. The car park had plenty of space and I only had to wait briefly before being seated inside the clean and tidy pub. The staff were cheerful, welcoming, and helpful. The menu offered a wide selection of delicious food. The atmosphere was relaxed, which is ideal when dining with children.
First time going today for lunch. Arrived at the pub at 12.45pm didn't book but plenty of space in the car park. Waited 30 seconds to be seated inside. Clean and tidy in the pub itself with cheerful staff. Menu is full of delicious food. Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

The Woodpecker Cookhouse provided food for those staying at the Premier Inn next door. Let's start with breakfast. If, like me and my family, you choose the full English the choice is superb and cooked fresh and not standing in containers on the counter. Then lunch. Again a good selection of good quality " pub grub". A great selection of dishes and well cooked and presented. We had a Sunday roast. The meat, beef for three of us and gammon for the fourth, was beautifully cooked and generous. There was a great vegetable selection. Last but not least evening meals. A great choice and well presented , cooked well and filling. My family and I would recommend. Even if you are passing travellers it is a must.

Stayed here with work. I personally wouldn't opt to stay here. The pub lacks any sort of atmosphere and is way too big. When I stayed, the bar closed at 9pm due to no customers. The food was disappointing, and the starter was inedible as it was deep fried, overcooked, and swimming in grease. The hunters chicken wasn't too bad. The beer was flat, I had carling. I won't be staying here again, with work or otherwise. Needs some TLC and an injection of charisma.

Quite busy when we visited, Christmas lunch very nice but only came with 1 sprout. Some items on menu not available but food and service overall very good. Caramel Apple Betty dessert is always a favourite with one of our group Update We had Christmas Dinner at the Cookhouse, the meal was excellent, Debbie and her team were wonderful and worked really hard to make the meal special. I was in a party of 7, starters were pate, prawn cocktail and beef in Yorkshire pudding all were lovely. Main course we all had turkey, well portioned and very tasty, Christmas pudding for dessert went down well for those that could manage a pudding. We will certainly consider booking for next Christmas day, really good value at £42.99

Good food and service and we liked the relaxed atmosphere which is great when you have kids in tow. There were a few omissions in the menu but I guess that's the way of the world right now and there was enough still to choose from. I liked the clear allergen details given on request - and available on line to look at beforehand.

Arrived to a car park full of parents parking to collect their school kids. Nearly didn't get a disabled parking space. Then school kids were at the top of the ramp in the way. Door situation was difficult to use with a wheelchair, one you push then you pull the next door. We waited 4 minutes for staff to seats us, which caused one on crutches more pain standing. Then we waited 3 minutes for the drinks order and then 4 minutes for the food order to be taken. Baring in mind it was quite empty. Also I found the music a little too loud to enjoy a conversation at the table. And the lights were quite dimmed and difficult to see the menu. Staff was not attentive throughout visit. Had to ask passing staff to order and for the bill. The food was basic unfortunately. Had better food and service in standard pubs. Won't be returning.

Worst place possible. I stayed at the premier inn adjoined to the pub. I had booked a meal deal. As I frequently stay in premier inns and have a meal deal you know what food and standards you get. I was very surprised at this place. If you didn’t want a bottle of j2o soft drink or a glass of wine everything was a supplement. Most main meals came with extra supplements except salad and fish chips. So if u want a steak etc it’s an extra £1.49. My starter was potato with cheese bacon served with sour cream. The picture explains all and it was cold. Main was mixed grill at an extra supplement. See pictures. So after paying your £24.99 for the meal deal which in other hotels is pretty good selection I had to pay an extra £6. I was booked for two nights here. Hence cancelled the second nights meal deal. If staying at premier inn Northwick do not book a meal deal
