The Grande Roue Saint Jean de Monts offers a unique experience, especially during the quieter winter months when the town is peaceful and serene. While swimming may not be an option in the cold water, some restaurants remain open, and strolling along the promenade or on the pier facing the ocean is delightful. Visitors are advised to make spontaneous plans based on weather conditions when considering a trip to Saint-Jean-de-Monts in winter.
Such a lovely spot. Great beach, lovely bars and the ferris wheel is much higher than you would expect, in a fun way, obviously 😁

Nice vie, but 6€ per person for only 3 rounds… it’s a ripoff !
Clemy Naomy (Clemy) — Google review
This gives you a great view over La Rochelle but has a few issues: it's quite a short ride, you get 3 rotations, although you can see quite well through the perspex it causes reflections which spoil the photos. If they were to put a couple of holes in the perspex for you to take pictures through that would be great. It's not expensive for that kind of thing so worth a go IMHO.

Golf course
Golf de Saint-Jean-de-Monts is a stunning golf course located in a natural site overlooking the ocean, offering year-round play on one of France's top 30 golf courses. The first nine holes wind through a pine and green oak forest, while the following nine holes run alongside the Atlantic Ocean, providing spectacular views of Ile d'Yeu. The course features an astonishing variety of vegetation between dunes and forest.
Excelent course. I was here for 9 holes with 10 years old daugter and cours was very playable in the middle of summer with nice ocean look.
Dušan Libo — Google review
Excellent golf course overlooking the beach with holes ranging from open links to narrow fairways through the pines. A good test of golf, but like most links courses can be very difficult when the wind blows! Friendly club house with decent bar and restaurant.
david platt — Google review
Very nice course with a front 9 in the pines forest and feeling rather like some famed Portuguese courses and the back 9 is a rather neat links. It's generally well kept however the greens tend to be relatively slow and a bit bumpy (the quantity of players on the course in summer probably explains that).
François Desmoulins-Lebeault — Google review
I was paired with a member of the club and had a great day of golf. Course was in great condition, and the staff were very welcoming. I would say the course is challenging, but fair. Certainly helps to know the course.
S Smith — Google review
It's rated as the top golf course in the Vendee and it's true. It offers both parkland and links with the 6 holes by the sea. One needs to be on top of one's game whatever the handicap and please don't forget to have dozens of spare golf balls. A superb golf course!
Jay Hill — Google review
An impromptu booking of the ‘baptême de golf’ led us here while we were holidaying in the area. An inviting club and a knowledgeable and friendly instructor to everyone including children. If I lived nearby I would definitely make this a regular visit
Su Che — Google review
What a golf course! As a ex golf professional I can tell you this is my favourite golf course Ive played! Stunning location but the interesting part about Saint Jean de Monts is the front 9 are some of the tightest tree lined holes I’ve ever played and the back nine open up to a links golf course! What a contrast and test over 2 nines! Can’t wait to play again!

Great activity, really enjoyed it. We had a group of 8 with 4 children ranging in age between 6 and 10. We all did climbing and the little ones did both climbing and the trampoline nets. I felt the climbing was reasonably priced and was done by age, as were the climbing routes (2 x green for 5 to 8, 2 blue for 8 and up, 2 red for 15+ and black for adults only). There's no food so take a picnic but it's a lovely setting for a picnic. You can climb as often as you want throughout the day so be prepared to make a day or of it. Thoroughly recommend it. Really well organised and felt very safe and professional set up.
Debbie Jones — Google review
What a cracking family day out! Top tip: If you're planning a visit, book the day before. The first day we got there at 11am and the treetops area was already sold out. Bad research on my part. We booked online and returned the following day and had a fantastic day, so glad we did this! Have been to several of these in both UK and France and this was by far the best. From start to finish the whole place was top notch. Staff, briefings, security, climbing equipment was all excellent. The courses were awesome... Seemed trickier than comparable in UK and only 2 of our 6 were brave / strong / foolhardy enough to do the black course. The remainder of us managed the red runs but they were challenging in places. Such a lot of fun. Would recommend you get there early and plan to stay all day. The restaurant was great too, not super expensive and really tasty. Coming towards the end of our holiday here and without a doubt the best thing we have done. Highly recommended. And we don't say that lightly as a family with 4 teenagers on holiday!
Helen Rankin — Google review
High adventure was great. With 2 kids, age 7 and 8. 10 euros per child was reasonable. We were allowed to assist them on the course free of charge. Slightly busy because of large groups so I advise to go early (9am). The equipment was very safe and the surroundings were awesome.
Sander Eshuis — Google review
I could bring my dog and relax at the resting area while my kids and husband were doing the activity. However, wifi connection was very poor and I couldn't use my phone. I think they may have their own wifi connection.
Chisato Onda — Google review
Very fun place to go with different levels for the entire family and the snack/bar for those who'd rather watch and relax. I gave up at the red level but very much enjoyed watching the arrivals at these lines. People have to jump off a platform a few meters high and trust the pully system will hold them down. I hate to say but it was very entertaining to watch, many small and grown-ups, broke into tears by fear of the jump... Plan half a day to enjoy of the lines. Very fun!

(Translated by Google) Fantastic climbing forest with a unique formula. Lots of long climbing routes for young and old and a wonderful resting place where you can sit for hours while others want to continue climbing. You can bring your own lunch or buy it at the bar at great prices. Entrance price very favorable because you do not have a time slot and only have to leave when you are 'finished' or the park closes at 8pm. Good guidance in the forest and very safe connections while climbing. The best climbing forest we have ever been to.

Good fuses. It was super busy and we couldn't make a reservation on the day itself, but they did their best to send a text message when there was room and we went straight away. They even came to ask afterwards if we had enjoyed it despite the wait. Then you are a winner

Water & Amusement Parks
Atlantic Toboggan is a thrilling water park located in Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, Vendee. It offers an exciting experience with its pools, water slides, and inflatable tube rides. The park features eight slides, a kids' playground, jacuzzis for relaxation, a lazy river with rubber rings, and a wave pool. Additionally, visitors can enjoy Dinos Park with life-sized dinosaurs, games, attractions, and puppet shows.
Great family day out. Loads to do, lots of parking, ample space to relax. All the slides are excellent. Great staff.
Mark Buckley — Google review
We arrived at 11.30am on a Monday in August and it was really quiet even though there was so much traffic on the roads. We left at about 7pm as we had such a lovely day. Our kids are 8 and 11 and it was perfect for them. Not too big and not too small. Plenty of food places, toilets really clean, whole place really clean. Could not fault it. The rides are good varying from really tame to really scary. We would definitely go again even if it does cost about 90 Euros.
Penny Goswell — Google review
You get what you expect 😀. But really fun, well organized. We were there on the second last day of the season so it wasn't too crowded. A little bit expensive but maybe die-hard water slide fans consider 19 € a fair price.
Geraldine Feidner — Google review
Well, first the price and the crowds. Massive, I can't describe it any better. Although you can already get in after the entrance, only the water boats are € 2.00 per ride, the rest is free admission. In addition, if there is also a French summer holiday, you will have to stand in extremely long queues. An attraction today took about an hour, at least an hour. The fun is no less. There is a wide choice of what to do, and getting food and drinks also takes a long time. Picnics with your own food and drinks are allowed. As for seating, get there early. You are at the front of the parking lot and then you can get a bench with a parasol, tip: after the entrance, walk immediately to the right along the fence. If you find a place, take the rotation of the sun into account, otherwise you will be in the middle of it again! We had a good time, you can also choose to go from 4:00 PM at a reduced rate. We lost two adults, a child 12 and a 10 € 91.00 entrance fee in the morning (August 2022)
Rutger Jansen — Google review
Best word to describe this water park is "thrilling". We arrived at 10.30am and left at 5.30pm. The time flew. I'd recommend bringing a picnic as food quality and cost isn't great. There is something for kids and adults of all ages. They even have a DJ wave pool party that starts for a few hours around 3pm. Highly recommended a day out here.

We had a great day at Atlantic Toboggan. Went at the end of August and was busy but OK. Some slides had no queues and others just a few minutes. Plenty of space for loungers, towels, picnics etc. Is expensive but worth it for a fun day out in the sunshine with something for everyone. Also have lockers, showers, changing areas, volleyball pitch and pool parties!
Stephanie West — Google review
I loved it the long queues only took around 20 mins. It is very expensive so I would recommend going when the tickets cost €17
Emmelie Rylander — Google review
Great place and lots of open space inside, so doesn't seem crowded, queues very qiuck and food reasonably priced. Opens at 10:30 but doesn't get busy until after 14:00 but still less than 5 mins queue for the main black hole and toboggan slide.
Gary Mccourt — Google review
Great water park .Reasonably priced food, meal deals for kids .Good English spoken .Queues go pretty quick tbh.Highly recommend the stripey orange slide great fun .
Charlotte Fitzgerald — Google review
I have went to multiple water parks over the years with the biggest being Siam Water Park in Tenerife. While Atlantic Toboggan isn’t half the size, we still had a fantastic day. There isn’t a whole pile of slides etc to go on but the ones that are there are great fun. We arrived at around 12 and we didn’t have to queue for long at all, mainly due to it being a Monday. The area is spotless and the lifeguards I found very attentive and helpful while we were there. We stayed for almost 6 hours and went on the different slides multiple times and had such an enjoyable day. For the people giving out about queues and wait times, that is literally what comes with going to water parks and amusement parks during summer periods and there is no point in Atlantic Toboggan have an express pass as there isn’t enough slides to make it worthwhile for them. It cost 52€ for two adults with a locker and I think it was a great price considering we got 6 hours worth of fun there for 25€ each, not many places would you get 6 hours of enjoyment including activities for 25€. Great place, great staff, would deffo go back again.
J RB97 — Google review
Love this waterpark. We've visited several times on visits to the area in recent years, and have always enjoyed it. There are bigger waterparks, but Atlantic Toboggan has plenty to enjoy. It's not too big, which means you spend less time walking between rides. We've never found it too busy - the worst queue we've faced for the more popular slides is 5-10 minutes. Can't wait to visit again!
Danny Kelly — Google review
I have been to Atlantic Toboggan twice in the past 2 years and ut was great both times. It is suitable for kids from about 6 upwards and the big slides are enough to frighten anyone. It has a cafe and a takeaway restaurant. The are 2 entrances one of which has parking available in a field.
Comac Ahern (LLJ) — Google review
The slides that they have are good however due to the amount of people they let in the queues get very big very quickly. Quite an expensive day of queueing and fighting your way into the pool areas. Unless you get there early you won’t get a sniff at any shade. We visited again 1 year later hoping to find it less busy as we had noticed that the amount of people at the park varies day to day. This time we visited on a Thursday, but sadly it was super busy again and we didn’t stay past 1pm. Get there early for when it opens and get through the big slides straight away otherwise be prepared to wait.

On April 8, 2023, I had a pleasant surprise at Le 20 Six restaurant during the second service. The staff was of high quality and provided speedy service, especially for children. The seafood dishes were excellent. In short, I highly recommend this place. It holds a special memory from my trip as it was the only open establishment when I arrived in town late at night. In April 2017, À chacun son moule reopened for the season, bringing joy to its patrons. However, in Autumn 2016, it had closed down, causing frustration. The restaurant has a modern and clean ambiance with friendly waitstaff who strike a perfect balance of conversation. The menus are creatively displayed on cookware -- one for food and another for drinks. Their specialty is various types of mussels and chips, but they also offer a meat option.

April 2017: Joy! It has reopened for the season apparently! Autumn 2016: Aaargh! It's gone, closed, no longer there!!! Summer 2016: Good food and concept First, the place looks new, clean and contemporary. One of the two waitresses welcome you with a smile and a little banter-not too much, just right. The menus are written on cookware, one for food, one for drinks. The food is just various varieties of mussels and chips, with a special for those who must have meat. The food is good, noone is rushed, you can just watch the world go by, and again the service is good. A nice place for a simple lunch at the beach.

La Quich'notte is a French restaurant that serves up traditional cuisine from the region. The menu features fresh, local products, and the atmosphere is warm and familial.
We ate here twice whilst on holiday at the campsite across the road. The food was excellent, the best we had all holiday, and probably in a long time. The menu isn't large but it is very cleverly thought through and executed to perfection. A must visit place for a culinary taste and visual experience. The dining areas are interesting too, including a small outdoor courtyard, a modern rotunda and interior seating in the old traditional building. There are plenty of historical photographs and artwork on display.

I'd eaten an excellent steak onglet, ordered rare, just two days previously in a different restaurant which is why we both ordered it here. My daughter's steak haché also came well done when it was ordered medium.I eat and cook a lot of steak. We paid up there and then and left.
