Crozon

Crozon is a town in Brittany, northwest France. It sits on the Crozon Peninsula, where medieval and 17th-century fortified towers line the Route des Fortifications. The coast near Morgat Beach is known for its multicolored sea caves, including Grotte de l’Autel. South, tiny L'île Vierge Beach is surrounded by rugged cliffs. Nearby, the House of Minerals is a museum with a collection of fluorescent minerals.

Cap de la Chèvre is a stunning cape and hiking area that offers breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding cliffs. Located in the southern part of the peninsula, it provides magnificent vistas of the Bay of Douarnenez. The 10.5km hike to the cape is described as one of the most beautiful, with an easy return path along the coastal trail.

(Translated by Google) In wind force 5, a hike around the Cap de Chevre - a special experience. You should be sure-footed and have a head for heights. Despite the stormy weather, or perhaps because of it(?), it was very well attended. On the narrow, stony, sometimes slippery paths it can be a challenge to get past each other. Great panoramic views guaranteed. (Original) Bei Windstärke 5 Wanderung rund um das Cap de Chevre- ein besonderes Erlebnis. Trittsicher und Schwindelfreiheit sollte sein. Presqu'île de Crozon is a stunning peninsula in Brittany, offering a perfect blend of natural beauty, history, and outdoor activities. In the summer, visitors flock to this area for hiking along the Sentier des Douniers (GR 34) with breathtaking views. The peninsula also boasts hidden beaches and coves, making it an ideal destination for beach lovers.
We spent a long weekend in the presqu'île de Crozon June 3-5, 2022. What a fabulous place! A real paradise with amazing panoramas - incredible views of the landscapes and ocean. We had to cut our original itinerary short since there wasn't time to see everything (so plenty of things to see next trip!). Here's a summary of our itinerary: Enclos Paroissial D'Argol Landévennec Abbey Quai du Fret: Charge+walk Pointe des Espagnols Îlot des Capucins Tour Vauban, Camaret-sur-Mer Camaret-sur-Mer: lunch + charge Alignements de Lagatjar Cap de La Chèvre Morgat Beach Eglise Saint-Pierre, Crozon. This was about 91 km. We used about 13.3 kWh (Tesla M3 LR). That took all day with a slow drive. We also visited some other regional towns (Quimperlé**, Concarneau old walled town****, Benodet** and Pont Aven***; all worth a visit (asterisks show our personal star ratings)). For EV users we did top up charges @ Le Fret, Cameret, Benodet and Tesla SuC Caudan.

Memorial
The Memorial naval aviation Cape of the Goat is located at the southern end of the Crozon Peninsula, offering stunning views and a rich landscape. It is part of the Presqu'ile de Crozon and features remarkable natural sites such as Cape Goat, Pen-Hir, Toulinguet, and more. Visitors can also explore historical remnants from World War II in the area.
Back on August 1949, when I was 11 years old, my father took me to this place while visiting the beaches in Normandy and Bretagne, when the invasion was carried on. Everything was untouched since the end of the war, even burned trucks and tanks were along the roads. There had elapsed only 4 yeras, and CAen was still a pile of rubbles, no buildongs, no hotels. In this gun place in Cap de la Chevre there still was a huge, 40 cms caliber naval gun placed in the round cement hole, about 10 meters in diameter, where there is now that cement model of a canon. There were hundreds of empty rifle brass cases laying in the floor, and many helmets and uniforms in the barracks underneath the gun. I picked one steel Whermacht helmet and a pair of boots that I brought down home in Argentina. That helmet was the first item in my now big helmet, visor caps, berets, headgear and militaria collection. Regretably most photos taken there are lost. The only remaining is the one where I am sitting on a flak gun near a bridge that was taken by the British Pegasus Brigade on June 6th, 1944.

Le Thalassa Hôtel Spa Restaurant, located in Camaret sur Mer on the Presqu'île de Crozon, is a contemporary hotel with a stunning harborside setting. Guests can enjoy the benefits of a saltwater pool and hot tub for relaxation and rejuvenation.
Fabulous food. Great hotel. Friendly helpful staff.

Yes, the location is awesome. Right in front of the bay, close to the historical tower and the walking trail that goes around the peninsula. The surroundings are really picturesque. The hotel itself looks like a late 90s-early 2000 wannabe modern spa resort. The desk staff was polite but I cannot say it was a warm welcome. The real downside of this hotel is the wifi in the rooms. It goes on and off and it's slow. The only spot you can get decent down speed is right next to the front desk, so you look like an idiot standing in the middle of the place with your phone. On the plus side, the shower was great (a real play room 😉).

Nice hotel, nice rooms, good restaurant at the hotel. The WiFi was completely useless, it was almost impossible to connect and when it connected, the speed was extremely low.
Robert Rask — Google review
In an area where it seems like all hotels are of similar standard, you cannot expect more than clean rooms, working toilets and a good night's sleep. This place satisfied all that and has a spa too though we did not try that. We went on a day when they had fireworks and that definitely made the trip even more worth it. One night is enough.
Theepan Para (Theepan) — Google review
Pros: updated rooms and bath. Clean throughout, warm staff, great pool and hot tub, wonderful views if you take room with a vue sur mer. Cons: Looong wait for hot water at the tap and shower. No room heaters. Cleaning lady slams the doors to awaken the Guests. After came in our room unannounced while we were in bed. Aggressive!! Come again? Maybe

They deserve their 5 stars, its wasn't just good, it was excellent, and the 3 of us were served in less than 5 minutes with some beautifully presented galettes which were succulent. Its wasn't the season so i didn't have the chance to try the beer garden in the back which looked very cool. I'd recommend the goinfre! Yo the owner, thanks again for accepting us at the last minute, i appreciate you had to close on time for your event in Brest, I'm glad I insisted instead of going to another crêperie.

very good restaurant with quality sea food for gourmets. maybe the selection for little guests could be better. nice place, nice view on the harbour and very good service. strong recommendation to try it!!

We had mixed feelings about our stay. The good things were that the views of the ocean, and the little sailboats were very charming. The cost of the hotel also was good. There were an assortment of pastries at breakfast, and you could tell that care was taken to provide a nice experience. However, there were several things that could’ve been approved upon. Our room was adequate only. There was a smell in the hallway that permeated into the room. In addition, there were signs of mold in the bathroom shower area however, the sink and toilet area were clean. At breakfast I wanted to take a roll or a croissant later and was told I could not do that and then I had to eat all the food there. I had only had a small bowl of cereal with yogurt for €12. The woman was not that friendly, and I probably would not recommend this hotel to somebody.
Gray Jessiman — Google review
We had a lovely stay at the hostellerie in Le Fret. Our room was at the back of the hotel so no sea view, was very small but had everything you need and was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. There is a good choice at the breakfast buffet in the morning. The hostellerie restaurant is excellent. There is a large choice of dishes. Our meal was delicious and presented beautifully. If you don't want to eat at the restaurant every night there are lots of places to eat within walking distance or a short drive away. There is lots to do in the area and the beaches are amazing. The hotel staff are professional and pleasant. We have booked again to stay in September.
John Foster — Google review
Disappointingly, I missed the butter with the sandwich, with the starter and main course it was tasteless, no pepper and salt, the risotto was a bland rice pudding so the cod did not come into its own. As a cook I can safely say that the love was not in the starter and main course. The dessert was nice though.
Edward Booij — Google review
My review is about the restaurant, I didn't stay in the hotel - very friendly staff and great food! I recommend to take one of the menus, because you get great value for the price!

We hadden het dagmenu. Vooraf makreel in aspic, smakeloos. (Translated by Google) We had the daily menu. Mackerel in aspic beforehand, tasteless. Fortunately, mackerel itself has some flavor. The main course was well thought out and sounded very tasty, but the risotto was a kind of porridge in long-lasting whipped cream. No wine, parmesan or salt and pepper used. You had to think about the asparagus and the foam should have tasted like bacon... unfortunately... Missed opportunity. The waiter was annoyed that we didn't eat it. The dessert was tasty. A cheesecake with goat cheese and strawberry coulis. Probably purchased ready-made, because it had some flavor. All in all a disappointment.
Barbara Cavadino — Google review
Has once been one of the best restaurants of the penninsula of Crozon - however, quality has degraded in the last two years. The house smoked salmon, which previously was of outstanding quality and cut at the table is now readily served on a plate together with cold blinis and has a quality similar to what you can find in a local super market. The tournedos de boef, although ordered "a point" arrived pretty much well done and a bit dry. The cheese, which once has been offered on a charriot is now readily served on a plate: Brie, Camembert and Pont d'Ivec - all pretty much taste the same. No bleu, no chèvre, just nothing special. So all in all, still good, but not any more excellent and certainly a bit expensive for the quality they offer.

A big supermarket where you can buy a lot of things. But to be honest I find it quite confusing and not very nice and tidy. In some areas they even have less choice even though it's a bigger supermarket. I also used the toilet, it was free and not very clean but acceptable and they had soap and disinfectant. Also, I like that they offer a card where you can see which fruits and vegetables are local in which time of the year.
