Settle Victoria Hall, located in the charming market town of Settle on the southwestern edge of the Yorkshire Dales, is a historic Grade II listed music venue. Dating back to 1853, it is one of the oldest surviving music halls worldwide and boasts an impressive Victorian architecture. With its iconic status and rich heritage, this venue attracts visitors who can enjoy a wide range of events and shows that cater to diverse tastes.
Have been many times to this venue - the staff are lovely and the refreshments always do the job (great cask beer)! Offering a wide variety of gigs and shows for the local area the last one I attended was an Undertones gig.... we sat upstairs and it was a great view and an incredible evening. If there is a gig on here that you like - come its a great venue!

I only went in to have a look around. Brilliant and the loos were very quirky. I recommend the garden, which is entered through a marquee where you can purchase refreshments before sitting at one of the homemade tables and listening to music being played free of charge. There is a small sand pit and inflatable bouncy toys for children. Please make a contribution to support the garden and the upkeep of the music hall which puts on a variety of plays, films, music etc.

Super place well supported by local community. Nice bar and good informal seating for the gigs we went to. Had great fun helping with controlling the lighting on the 2 nights we went. Brilliant intimate atmosphere.
Stephen Roberts — Google review
A great venue for concerts is well run by the good folk of settle and surrounding area. Before the venue's got out of hand size wise most groups and songwriters played these types of venues up and down the country a more intimate atmosphere and better for that.
ecobrick — Google review
We had a fantastic night watching the Christians with friends here. What a gem of a place. It takes the phrase intimate to a new level. Seating was arranged in a ‘speak easy’ format which meant we were sat round tables, with regular trips to the bar. The staff were friendly and helpful and of course the Christians were amazing. Great fun. Tip: get there early for a ground floor table.

Great to see Malawian performers in the heart of North Yorkshire 🇲🇼good selection of drinks in the bar.

Pretty building, an unexpected gem in this Yorkshire Village. Visited during Women's World Cup Final, and they had turned it into a little cinema. Lovely cafe and cafe garden out back with a vintage store, children's toys and a small folk stage.

Sad Café gig. Excellent venue. Extremely helpful and friendly volunteers. 5*
Jeanette Woodcock — Google review
Fantastic music venue run by lovely folk 😊 seen many performers here but most recently Le Vent du Nord... excellent. Great loos bar and outside area.
John Hulbert — Google review
Just attended a Sad Cafe concert there. Its the 1st time i have been to the venue. What a really nice place. It is run by volenteers. A warm welcome at the door, asked if i had been before, they told me about all the facilities, helped me download my e-ticket, showed me the seating, little clothed tables with chairs around, tealights in teacups, and the hall was decorated with an assotment of coloured lijghts. It was more like sitting in someones livingroom than a venue. There was more conventional seating upstairs. A bar was available, so you could sit and have a drink at your table throughout the concert. Well done to all. The gig was fantastic as well. Will definately look to returning.
Martin Hunter — Google review
One of the oldest music halls in the world. Vintage, intimate and fun. Just what a community theater should be. You could see that there were mostly locals there who knew each other. Lots of friendly volunteers helping. We saw Sister Act and all performances were sold out. Very affordable for a live performance.Plenty of pay at the meter parking just across the street. Only 1 1/2 blocks off the main street. Lots of restaurants and places for tea in walking distance.

Malham Cove is a limestone scar located in the Yorkshire Dales, surrounded by stunning beauty spots. The cove is a popular tourist destination due to its natural beauty and stunning views. The cliffs are lined with 80m-high vertical cliffs and a large glacial waterfall once tumbled over them.
The best hike that I have experienced. A bit rough in places especially when you get to the limestone pavements but wonderful views. Lovely surprise waterfalls and streams, valley gorges and picturesque mountains.
Nilvanta Kerai — Google review
A very well made path to a great view of the cove is suitable for the not so steady footed. The last part right to the base is rocky and wet. There are many stairs up to the limestone pavement, they are well made and some spots you can catch your breath, but not seats by memory. There are beautiful views and the cove is spectacular. Dippers, wagtails, and swallows along the Creek. Have visited a few times now and it's beautiful in different ways in all weather.
Tamara Fletcher — Google review
Lovely walk and views. Will definitely be coming again so can have a bigger explore. Maybe in summer. Some fantastic views from the top of the cove. Almost gave up on the walk up but glad I made it to see the fantastic view. Would recommend visiting here but walk suitable footwear and take some water.
Kim B — Google review
Beautiful peaceful place to visit. From the village to the cove and back is around a 4km walk, very manageable. Steps to the left of the cove take you to the top. Hard work but fun to get up them, if able would definitely recommend having a go to get up them, careful at the top lots of holes to trip and fall but lovely view and usual landscape.
Pam Smith — Google review
Absolutely loved today at Skipton -Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet's Cove. Great walk, definitely recommend. Car park £5 all day, got there for 10, plenty of spaces. Walk is good for kids, plenty to explore.
ZR L — Google review
Awesome place to visit, the walk isnt very long, i got about 10,000 steps there and back, parking is easy to find and you will need to pay. Amazing view close to the cove and amazing views when you get yo the top.
Hassan ALI — Google review
I personally found this to be a magical feeling location. The Cove is very high and looks very impressive from below. It is a small climb to get to the top and the view from the top is beautiful. The stones are extremely special cut. You can also walk back to Malham from the top of the Cove through the surrounding mountains, which is a beautiful walk. This is also a filming location of Harry Potter part 7.1, making it a must see location for Harry Potter fans.
Stefan van Dijk — Google review
A lovely walk down a built path, so good for those with limited mobility. At the end of the path, it does become a little hard with large rocks to climb over. The surrounding grounds are beautiful for photography with a fast but part walkable Riverside. Parking can be tight if you arrive mid day.
paul chappell — Google review
2 miles to walk in total from the village of Malham to base of the Cove and back again, beautiful views from the top 70 Metres high with 402 steps to get to the top, takes about 15 minutes to climb the steps. Lovely coffee shop back in Malham, park at the visitors centre where there are free toilet.
Ian Leverton — Google review
Great place to visit, easy to moderate walk with 320 steps to climb to the top of Malham Cove, great views from the top, at the top where the limestone rocks separate was once a place of a waterfall many millions of years ago. It was also featured in one of the Harry Potter movies (A pivotal scene in the 7th Film, Deathly Hallows) this location is in the Yorkshire dales in a remote location, pet friendly although ask to keep on leads due to livestock. A** well worth the visit.
OMG Exploring — Google review
Lots and lots of people, but then it was the Friday of the Jubilee weekend. Recommend the less obvious route from the Water Sinks car park, past where the water from Malham Tarn disappears into the ground, down the dry valley and through the gorge to the top of the Cove. This avoids most of the crowds. Views are spectacular!
Steve Huckett — Google review
Wonderful experience. Good amount of hike but pretty decent. When are almost at the top it’s quite rocky and uneven. You’ll have to mind your steps but the view is breathtaking can’t justify in the picture.
Joel Abraham — Google review
Well signposted from the carpark/visitor centre it's an impressive gorge that more able scramblers can take the waterfall path up. There is an alternative stepped path to the left that will bring you to the famous Harry potter battle location.
City Girl — Google review
Great place to visit. Put it on your list to do if you're thinking about it. Do consider your footwear depending on the weather and fitness of those going, old or young. My 2 kids enjoyed it and the Harry Potter draw is helpful.
Neil Kennedy — Google review
Great walk Relatively straightforward from the village. Nice path that is suitable for wheelchairs/ prams. It's not too strenuous to the bottom of the cove. It's a popular place so expect it to be busy. Steps leading to the top of the Cove. If it's been raining be careful, it's slippy. 350ft ish to the top. Once there the views are stunning. Definitely recommend.
Matthew Bonham — Google review
Get your walking boots on and be prepared to climb the many uneven steps to the top but the hard work is rewarded with the most epic view ever. You will be glad you did!
Jonny Techno — Google review
I have wanted to visit Malham Cove for some time, and it didn't disappoint. We did a circular walk, taking in Janet's Foss waterfall first, then up and across fields, taking in some stunning scenery to arrive at the top of Malham Cove . The limestone terrain on top of the Cove is fascinating to see . After spending some time on the top, we took the steps down to the Cove, which again is amazingly picturesque and imposing. We had our wellies on, so we waded up the river right to the Cove face to where the water came in and watched the rock climbers . Beautiful place and well worth a visit.
lisa sowerby — Google review
What a great day out. Recommended by our son. Walked from Malham village to cove. Up the steps and across the top down to Janet foss, waterfalll and back to village for a well deserved visit to the pub. Pub and shop prices good value.
C Gibson — Google review
Parked at the Visitor Centre. Rainy day but decided to walk up to the Cove. Well worth the uphill/downhill stroll along the tarmac road/ stoned pathway. Didn’t attempt the steps up the side to the top on a day like it was. Look closely at photo …. A climber going up the face of the Cove. One mile each way (see photo). Lovely tea room ( The Old Barn) on return/ friendly lady serving. Muddy boots and dogs welcome
Ian Bradbury — Google review
Absolutely love this place , so much to see and do , if you want to just take in the amazing waterfall or go hiking on the hills, it definitely won't disappoint. We headed there on bank holiday so it was pretty busy but ample parking as some of the fields were open to the public for a fee . We managed to get parked down near Janet's foss so I'm not sure how much they were charging. The weather was good so the streams were glistening in the sun looked pretty magical, you feel dwarfed from the sheer size of the limestone cliffs that surround you. Good walking routes Plenty to see , Take a camera & Supplies and just have a great day out
Jo 74 — Google review
Beautiful place. Plenty of parking. But what an amazing experience definitely worth the climb. However be aware that it can be very slippy underfoot, especially for young children.
Andrew Dickinson — Google review
Malham Cove is such a cool place to visit. It is a stunning place notwithstanding other good attractions to visit locally including Janet Foss, Gordale Scar and further along Malham Tarn. If you plan to visit all three in one day (excluding Malham Tarn), you probably have to start with Janet Foss, Gordale then the Cove or Cove first then decide from there. The bottom of the cove is in easy reach but to reach the top, some might find it tough if you are not comfortable with heights. There is no disabled access. If you take pets up to the top you may have to carry them as the gaps between the rocks are fairly wide. I would not recommend the top for little children. The views from the top are beautiful. The sunset here is breathtaking although you will not get to see the sun completely disappear. To cover all three attractions, you probably need 3-5 hours. And if you stay till it’s dark, you can enjoy the stars as there is hardly any light pollution. Torches would be necessary and also bear in mind that mobile phone reception can be patchy. Best not to wear slippers, slidders, flat trainers or sandals. Walking boots or similar would be advisable. Stairs going up and down the cove is fairly safe but would advise you to be extra cautious especially on wet days. Roads leading to Malham can be narrow in parts leading to localised traffic. Once you have been here once, you would want to come back! Toilet facilities only in car park.

I did the Full walk around starting from the main visitor's carpark, went to Janet's Foss & up and over to the top of Malham cove & back down it's a fantastic walk, plenty of videos on YouTube about the walk, None of them are mine, But most are Excellent videos, so before doing the walk doing your homework would be advisory, & Check & double check the weather before you go on the day. Enjoy everyone.

The Ribblehead Viaduct is a historic railway viaduct in Lancashire, England that spans 400 metres across the River Ribble. Constructed in 1875, it is still in use today as part of the Leeds to Carlisle train line. The viaduct is notable for its 24 stone arch construction and is Grade II listed.
Fantastic views! This was the starting point for us climbing Whernside. Brilliant 8mile loop! Free parking, pub nearby too

This place is absolutely stunning. A short walk from the road side and you're under the arches. A small bit of research so you know what you're looking at makes all the difference. Great location all around for photo opportunities. Pub on the roadside. A great spot to stop.
The Zombie Hunter Hayes — Google review
It's a fantastic place to visit with lovely scenery. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth taking a stroll. It's very peaceful and an excellent spot for a long walk with your dog. There are ample parking spots along the way, so parking shouldn't be a concern. Additionally, it's a great place for photography enthusiasts to capture plenty of beautiful shots. No matter what day you choose, whether it's sunny or raining, you will enjoy the day. You might be fortunate enough to snap a great photo of a train crossing the viaduct.
T Gartshore — Google review
Lovely landmark was absolutely freezing when I went but worth the drive parking is right next to it and there are plenty of other beautiful places to visit in this area
Angela Mcmillan — Google review
Absolutely stunning place, we did the circular walk up to the highest peak in Yorkshire Whernside at 736 meters. It's a bit of a trek, says its 8 miles but closer to 10. There are smaller walks however if your not a competent walker, especially as the journey down on the opposite side is a challenge as its very steep. The magnificent 24 arch viaduct started in 1870 and opened in August 1875. Is yet another shining example of beautiful Victorian architecture. I can highly recommend this place for hikers and families for a lovely day out. The station Inn is a lovely friendly pub for great food and drinks, and has a large beer garden overlooking the viaduct and mountains. There are plenty of places to sit and have a picnic to.
Del Mc — Google review
Only in the area for one day, so I did a whistlestop tour to see some essential things. I stopped off to see the viaduct, and I was blown away by how impressive the architecture of it is and in awe at how difficult it must have been to build it. I am very pleased I've visited and seen it, but I want to try and return to do some hiking.
Claire Robinson — Google review
Great place to go for a wander. If you shout and wave at the train drivers they toot their horn at you which was fun for the kids. Tearoom has the absolute minimum very expensive snacks and hot drinks, not doing themselves any favours. Great photo opportunities
Pam Smith — Google review
We were so excited to see this iconic railway. We were super impressed by the size of it and its charm.
Irina L.Coman — Google review
Probably one of the famous viaducts to visit and you won't be disappointed when you do. I'm Always amazed at the engineering capabilities of the past and the viaduct certainly does that, even more amazing is the tunnel further up that heads through to Dent, with the air vents on the hillside, which are worth a visit.
Mathew Bourne — Google review
Just fantastic, absolutely stunning. Really worth the visit, the sunset here is a sight to behold. The echo under the bridge is amazing. The site is well signed with information boards, all very interesting. There is ample parking spaces all the way down the road, and a nice pub close to the viaduct. Very little light pollution in the area so it is brilliant for star gazing. When stood at its base it is difficult to not be in awe of the precise engineering that is now almost 150 years old. Absolutely worth the stop on the way to or from the lakes from N Yorks to avoid A66, and a great overnight stop in a Campervan.
Bee — Google review
I had an incredible experience visiting Ribblehead Viaduct! This historic railway marvel is truly a sight to behold. The sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and the impressive architecture of the viaduct are awe-inspiring. It's a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates the beauty of engineering and nature coming together harmoniously.

Went there for Sunday walk, the morning was very grey and cloudy.Near the viaduct is free parking, but big problems with a public toilets. Otherwise is beautiful nature around, plenty of space where go for a walk.
Marika Majore — Google review
Gorgeous, stunning and scenic. This was such a monumental construction to go and see. We were blessed with a gorgeous sunny day (despite being VERY windy)! It was such a beautiful drive to get here as well with luscious, picturesque views all around.
Karina O'Flynn — Google review
Always magnificent what ever the weather! Stunning scenery of the famous Three Peaks. The engineering and manpower that it took to create this famous historical viaduct was awe-inspiring. Plenty of parking on the roadside. Ice cream van too. Well worth a visit.
Louise Hilton — Google review
What a great piece of engineering! You can walk underneath it and there’s parking on the roadside nearby. There’s also a pub here and some nice walks up the valley to a waterfall. Stick to the path and keep kids/dogs close as there are pros of deep sink holes (aka snake holes) all over this landscape. The viaduct is on the route of the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge so expect to see lots of hikers passing through.
Chris Gledhill — Google review
Impressive Railway viaduct along the Settle to Carlisle line. In the middle of nowhere, several walks are available from this area. If you like wide open spaces and pleasant walking, this is the place to visit. Check out the Ribblehead WebCam, it looks directly to the viaduct and the impressive Whernside, which is the highest of the 3Peaks in that vicinity.
Nigel Johnson — Google review
Possible to say that this place is awesome for so many reasons, the main reason being, it's so accessible, from Mums with prams to those who need help via walking sticks or even wheel chair users , everyone can visit here... its fabulous 👌
Adventure Swim Coaching — Google review
Me and my family came here to see the viaduct. It was very Kool but lots of people. We should have done research before coming as we had no idea of any walks to do around here. I asked a passer by who said it was a circuit to whernside. Me and my family wasn’t prepared to walk those miles on that particular day so we just let the kids play in huge puddles on the other side of the viaduct and explore around it. It was fun for them but the drive of just over an hour didn’t feel worth it for us. If we had prepared better I think we would have got more out of the area with a decent walk.

The waterfall at Stainforth Force is a beautiful flight of cascades that makes for an interesting tourist attraction in Settle. The area is also home to some other natural wonders, such as the Ribble Way and the Dales, which are both worth visiting regardless of the weather.
Great place to visit and take in the scenery. Ideal picnic spot on a warm and sunny day... but too cold on our visit. Only a short walk from nearby campsite or Stainforth village.

We did a gorgeous circular walk from settle, around 11km that included Stainforth Force. The scenery is stunning.

Short easy walk down a steep hill from the village car park. Beautiful falls, little suntrap. In autumn, try to see the salmon jumping upstream. Nice walk if you carry on along the river. Stainforth bridge is a 17th century packhorse bridge crossing the river Ribble.
Cozycats Cattery — Google review
Loved it! Went specifically to try and watch the Salmon heading back up river to spawn. Amazing spectacle. Bit treacherous getting down close to the falls after heavy rain. Paid parking very close. Not the best day weather wise but we'll worth the visit. The Dales are stunning no matter what. Enjoy.
Lee Blakeborough — Google review
Amazing experience watching the salmon leaping. DO NOT follow sat nav to the force as the road is extremely narrow especially over the pack horse bridge. More preferable to park in the village. The location is beautiful too and paths directly from the force lead to a walk directly into Settle approx 3 miles.

Brilliant afternoon in the sun Nice spot to sit and picnic by water Nice spot to jump in and have a swim Public toilets and reasonably priced car park short walk

A tough walk for young children, great wild swimming. Want a challenge, research and do the circular route. Steep and even in summer the steps are slippery.
Tony Goose — Google review
Was walking in area. Nice car park with clean toiletsat Stainforth. There is a charge for parking. The force is a short walk from carpark.
dj rick — Google review
Absolutely lovely place. Got there before lunch and not too many people at the time so plenty of space. There are two great places with ropes to jump in, quite deep so no worry to hurt yourself as long as you can handle the current at one of the jumps by the waterfall. The second jump is better for swimming, less risk of the current. Lovely little water trail you can walk in. Lots of field space to set up. If you go further from the first section there is more space. There is a tiny amount of on road parking on dog hill brow but the bridge you need to cross is quite small. Paid parking is about £5 ISH for the whole day but not too big, 7 minute walk. Pub nearby but again, quite small but lovely!
Eime A — Google review
Walk from the pay and display car park follow signs that go under the road bridge beside river. Some parts steep on a 20 minute walk. Really worth a look.
Mick Manning — Google review
Great waterfall but very slippery where waterproof trousers in case you fall over the grass is very wet from the rain.
JOYCE ROWE — Google review
A great area for a picnic in nice weather. Caution if you have small children though as there are drops into fast flowing water falls. A short walk away is Knights Table where you can sit down for food or a drink. Closed on Tuesday but check before you go.
Wayne Gammon — Google review
Wow!! Such a lovely place. Able to sit right next to the water feature and enjoy the sight and sounds. Be aware, the road down which says not suitable for caravans is VERY narrow, especially over the bridge!!! Worth the view though.
Susan Bontoft — Google review
A fantastic waterfall, which was in flood when we were there after very heavy rain. It's not the easiest place to get to because of mud and slippery rocks, but it's definitely worth seeing. I've visited on a number of occasions over many years, but I've never encountered anyone brave enough to swim here, and I must admit, I certainly wouldn't.

Janet's Foss is a beautiful waterfall that cascades into a natural swimming pool. The waterfall can easily be accessed by a scenic woodland trail, making it perfect for visitors of all levels of difficulty. With its tranquil setting and idyllic surroundings, Janet's Foss is a popular tourist attraction among the locals.
Beautiful little spot. Clear turquoise water, little fairy cave. Few spots to park close by or walk from the local village. Small van selling coffee and snacks close by. Short walk to Gordale scar.

Beautiful wooded walk with a divine waterfall enjoyed by many swimmers. This was the final site on the circular of Malham Cove and Gordale Scar, before heading back towards Malham where the car was parked for a donation fee on the road side. A fine example of how gorgeous the North Yorkshire Dales are, worthy of many visits. I’m looking forward to exploring more in the area
LiziiBear — Google review
Lovely spot, you can park at the National Trust visitor centre (pay and display) or along the road just before you get to the centre (optional donation), and walk up to the Foss, which is a nice gentle walk. Or you can drive up a thin windy road with passing places and park in one of the very few places available much closer to the waterfall itself. Depending on the time and the day you may find no space to park at the latter. The waterfall itself is a historic, beautiful landmark that has been visited by people for many, many years. It was once used for sheep dipping which was a social occasion and drew a crowd, I am not sure how much we know about how frequently and by whom it was visited before this. The water is so clear and looks inviting, I am tempted to join the occasional wild swimmer that you will see and have a dip to see how it feels. Wonderful place. Nearby the Cove and Gordale Scar, both places worth a visit too.
BLUSUB 23 — Google review
Close to the National Park Car Park and first stop of my hike to Malham Cove. The pretty woodland path leads to this beautiful Janet's Foss waterfall. Continue on the footpath leads you to Gordale Scar. In case you are wondering Foss is the old Scandinavian word for waterfall.

Was a really nice visit, since it was during the weekday we were able to park on the road leading up to the little village for free. The walk was really beautiful, we did a 2hr 30m hike, wouldn’t recommend for children. Beautiful views. We used the OSmap app for iPhone to help us navigate the hike and was really useful. Lots of lovely amazing views of waterfalls and mountains. The water from the streams are all fresh and taste wonderful would recommend. Overall it was delightful.

Nice bonus stop as part of a bigger walk in the area. Very nice waterfall and pool which would be great to swim on a summer day. The walk takes you through an ancient woodland and along the river to Malham, where there are plenty of places to stop and grab a bite to eat.

What a beautiful place this is! We camped nearby and got here at 7:30am by 9am it was heaving so get there early. Lovely walk, lovely views on the Malham trail. If you dare to you’ve got to go In the waterfall ❤️

A great place for a lovely bit of wild swimming, especially if it's a quiet day. It can get very busy when the sun comes out in England so it's best to go early or later if possible to avoid the crowds.

Gorgeous walk around Malham Cove, walking along the limestone pavement (as featured in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt1), taking in the view across Malham Tarn and taking a (chilly) dip in the clear turquoise waters of Janet's Foss waterfall. An interesting walk that's great for all the family. If you like to feel like you're the only person on the planet, this is not the place for you as it's a popular little spot, get there early to miss the crowds

Lovely place. I suggest you get there early for a parking space, there are lots however it does get very busy. Then there are a number of walks and routes you can take. It was lovely to see people swimming in the water and enjoying the waterfall. I will remember my swimming costume next time I visit.

Love Janet's Foss and Malham Cove. Yorkshire Dale's at its best. So surprising how the nature turn people to polite people. Please and thankyou constant and always nice to hear. And the smiles on people's faces. I didn't see a sad face that day. Ice cream food soft drink beverages. And loads of smiles.

Nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Janet's Foss is a hidden gem that effortlessly blends natural beauty with enchanting folklore. The moss-covered rocks and the gentle cascade of water create a serene atmosphere, making it a perfect escape for nature enthusiasts. Legend has it that Janet, the Queen of the local fairies, bathed in these waters, adding a touch of magic to the already captivating scenery. The well-maintained trail leading to the waterfall offers a delightful stroll through lush woodlands, unveiling the Foss like a secret waiting to be discovered. Whether you're a hiker seeking a picturesque trail or a storyteller looking for inspiration, Janet's Foss is a must-visit, where nature and folklore dance together in perfect harmony.

After exploring the cove this place was an oasis on a hot day. Walked a short ways across a trail from above the cove to find a fork in the road. One way led to gordale scar and the other to Janet's Foss. We had a little one in tow so chose the waterfall. Beautiful swimming spot and quite popular so don't expect a secluded experience. I dipped my feet in and ate some snacks. The cool water helped a lot with swollen feet after a long day. Cool little cave there too! It's a must check out location and there is parking spaces on the road nearby if you get lucky. Otherwise your walking from malham like I did. Not complaining.
Daniel Dickinson — Google review
Loved this trail, a must if visiting Yorkshire in my eyes. It gets very busy so go early as car parking is a small area for £5.50 all day, or off road parking for free. We arrived about 12 on a Friday and it was so busy but we were so lucky to get a space and a day ticket off the people leaving, there is toilets and a refreshments here also. Janets foss is stunning, and I've been wanting to come here for a while, she did not disappoint, crystal blue pool perfect to dip in, we did the full trail so went onto gordale scar this waterfall set in the limstone rocks is just amazing to see, take the extra 15 mins past the hot van stand to see it. We then walked along the tops towards Malham cove didn't see anyone in sight along there, we was off trail but took us straight onto the road down to the Cove trail, the views at the top looking down on Gordale and the surrounding area where beautiful. my daughter loved this part of the adventure was the best part she said. Big Harry Potter fan. The trail took us 3&1/2 hours stopping off at all points for at lest 20 mins each time. Our family consists of a 12 year old & a 5 year old Beagle, apart from the slippy stones at the top and all the steps down from the top at malham cove this trail is easy for all ages and abilities up until this point. You can access Janets foss and Gordale following a back lane in the car and park on the road side by the hot van stand then walk to them both, JF 5 mins walk through the wood and GDS 15 mins in the other direction. Malham cove is also easily reached through the village on flat ground rather then doing the full trail.

Beautiful waterfall with splash pool. Many people wild swimming in the pool. Unfortunately not suitable for people with any mobility problems as the way down is steep and rocky with no hand rail or steps (this is the reason for the 4* review). Awesome area to sit and reflect

Amazing 😍 place Cold water swim allowed dog friendly location £5.50 all day parking 1.5miles away rocks can be slippery when wet OBS not wheelchair friendly. Its apx 6+ft near the waterfall end sand bace floor AVERAGE water TEMPERATURE 🌡️ is 10c and below and be mindful of the high speed water fall when raining ENJOY.. not to far from other waterfalls on the way and you also have A lovely Views from the top of the cove if you go to the top...

Absolutely Fantastic walk around Janet's Foss, Then on to Malham Cove, So Beautiful and relaxing, please check the weather updates & Especially on the day your planning to go.

A beautiful National Trust woodland glen with a waterfall which has a mystic feeling, which is set in-between the giants of Gordale Scar and Malham Cove. Take the path out of the village on the right hand side which is signposted. A flags stone pathway means that the walk is good for any weather. I went at a very wet time and apart from a few puddles it was good going. You follow the path running by the water course into a magical tree lined valley. The trees are adorned with moss, and in spring wild garlic is in perfusion. You follow the stream until you come upon lovely aspect of Janet's Foss. After this progress to Gordale Scar to see the magnificent dramatic landscape and waterfalls which are just up the road.

Stayed here when our friends got married at Bashall Barn just down the road. What a fantastic place! The rooms we bad was beautiful and very comfy. The staff were so nice, inducing the owners who sat with us for a drink and a good chat. The breakfast was great and the menu was just right. Would highly recommend to anyone who is staying out that way or attending a wedding at Bashall Barn

We enjoyed a lovely one night stay. Great location. Our dog was made very welcome! Beautiful bedroom with modern ensuite wetroom. Fran and Jonathan were fantastic hosts. Absolutely recommend.

The food was not bad in any way but vastly over priced. It's still just pub food at the end of the day but I feel they are trying to charge prices that are more in line with, shall we say, better establishments. Most dishes did not come with veg or chips/mash/boiled spuds. These were another £3.50 per portion. Was not a cheap night out!

Had a delicious meal, lovely atmosphere and comfortable surroundings, log fire (wet and chilly August evening), pool table. Fab!

Small room but with a beautiful walk-in shower room.Unfortunately dirty marks streaked up the walls adjacent the bed, check-in wasn't welcoming with very little lighting as the pub was closed. Poor breakfast for the £135 a night, self serve bacon and sausage with bread and a toaster and the usual fruit and cereal etc. Overall not a great experience for a two night £270 stay.

Great experience. Lovely and clean. Spacious Yurt with fabulous facilities. Great place to escape the hustle and bustle while being only 45 minutes away from home. Limited phone signal for Internet, not a problem for me as we were having a rest for a few days. Pub was lovely and welcoming. Great staff. Beautiful place altogether.

Stayed in one of the shepherds huts for a wedding and was lovely. Slightly warm through the night as we were fortunate to have lovely weather but despite this the bed was comfy and was nice to have a little kitchen area in the morning to make breakfast. 5 minute taxi drive to browsholme (40 minute walk but definitely not suitable for walking so don’t do what we thought to do and think a leisurely walk home will be fine! 😂). Lovely hosts and my partner had breakfast in the morning and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Will likely stay again and recommend - Thankyou!

We had a fantastic 2 night stay. The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome, keeping the bar & kitchen open for us on their night off just after Christmas. We had a delicious evening meal & the breakfast was very generous & perfectly cooked. Lovely comfy rooms & great location. The owner even kindly gave us a lift to a local wedding… highly recommend!

What can I say? The accommodation was outstanding, the views are vast and great. The food was to absolutely die for! Everything is locally sourced from what I can gather and the service was sublime. The attention to detail is just awesome. This is definitely a 'must do again'. Try it out everyone, just one thing? Leave a place for me eh! 👌💯👍

We visited this place a couple of weeks ago for Sunday lunch with friends, five of us in total all having three course meals and drinks, the bill came to about £40 per head so not bad at all. The food was excellent no complaints at all we all enjoyed our meals. While we were there the place did fill up and the service did slow done a little an extra member of staff would have probably have helped. In general though I would recommend happily and I would have no hesitation in going back again.

The Traddock Hotel is a charming country house hotel situated in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The hotel offers outdoor seating, seating, waitstaff and parking. It also has a wine and beer bar as well as full bar options. The Traddock Hotel is gluten free friendly and vegetarian friendly.
Our third visit here! It's just delightful. Fabulous setting nestled in Austwick village. Our room was superb (9), gorgeous dinner and wine and a good breakfast. The staff are just lovely. Efficient, friendly and very helpful. We love it here and will always stop over when we are visiting Yorkshire.

Character hotel in a lovely wild location. Our room was very comfortable. The lounges/drawing rooms would be perfect for Agatha Christie mystery! Taster Menu had some delicious selections. Sadly, the waiter who we'd overheard mentioning how delicious the bread was wouldn't let us try any..as apparently it wasn't included in our menu choice..shame, because little gestures make a lot of difference. Lady on evening reception very friendly. Some staff businesslike but not very friendly.

Disappointing Great food but dining experience spoiled by location of tables some diners were seated in the bar area which to me is not conducive to fine dining. ( we would have refused to eat there) We felt let down by not being seated in the room that was referred to as the dining room after being asked to book a time for both dinner and breakfast. One waitress was very pleasant the other who had a broken accent was at times most unpleasant and not helpful as if she couldn’t be bothered . The meals were superb Room had shower and toilet in no more than a cupboard and wash-hand basin in a corner of the bedroom Very comfortable bed and lovely bedding

We had a wonderful two night stay at The Traddock in January. A very warm welcome on arrival both by the coal fire and the staff. Our room was immaculate and the bed, very comfortable. Both evening meal menus were excellent and our dietary requirements taken into account. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, we were unable to take advantage of the many walks available in the area, but we will do this on future visits. A special birthday celebration made even more special. Thank you.

We always enjoy our stays at The Traddock as it is in a perfect location. The staff are attentive and friendly. The only difference we noticed this time was that the food has become more expensive and the portions are much smaller, more nouvelle cuisine. The menu was limited to five main courses with no side dishes and although it was more adventurous and tasted delicious it wouldn't appeal to everyone.

Stunning Country House Hotel, in the most lovely and peaceful setting remotely located in the Dale's. Was a late check in and early check out, as we were attending a wedding in Huddersfield after a day spent in Malham hiking. Had the most wonderful view over beautiful countryside and the Hotels own gardens. The breakfast was delightful and the staff were happy to accommodate any needs. The rooms are well equipped, tea and coffee facilities and fruit provided. Plumbing was a bit "chatty" in our room, not a issue, added to the character of the house. Not the cheapest but worth it for a treat . Would be my first choice when back in the Dale's.

We enjoyed a one night stay at the Traddock in room 6, which has an en suite with a bath and a lovely view over the garden. Our small dog Millie stayed with us and enjoyed her stay too (small £10 supplement for dog). The service was excellent, particularly the lovely lady on reception at check in and check out. The bar is very cosy with lots of small cosy rooms/snugs to relax in as well as some board games you can play! We didn’t eat in the restaurant in the evening but enjoyed the breakfast - with plenty veggie options. Would highly recommend a stay here!

Booked a short weekend break with no idea what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Payed for breakfast and dinner beforehand which I would recommend doing as it will save you some pennies. Cafe
Ye Olde Naked Man Cafe is a quirky cafe located in a historic building on the market square in Settle. The cafe sells delicious homemade cakes and breads as well as coffee and tea, and it's popular with tourists for its friendly atmosphere and comprehensive menu. The cafe is clean and has ample seating, making it a great place to stop for breakfast on your travels through the Yorkshire Dales.
We were looking for places for breakfast as we were driving through the area . Friendly welcome from the staff . The place was clean and had plenty of seating. Extensive menu, we went for the vegetarian breakfast . It was very filling and reasonably priced . I would definitely visit here if I was in the area.

Lovely place with spacious seating. Neat and clean. Food selection was a little limited compared to what we saw on Google, but one of the waiters said it may have been some previous specials. Nevertheless the food was great and kids selection was adequate. Waiters were friendly and efficient. Yorkshire pudding was overdone, and we got white bread when we asked for brown bread with our soup. The rest was great and portion size was good.

We visited this lovely place yesterday while visiting Settle. This is a very busy place with great friendly staff, we didn't wait long for a table. The service was very quick, the food arrived very hot, it tasted delicious too. We enjoyed a desert, I had a strawberry tart, the tastiest ever. We loved the food so much we went back for breakfast this morning.

Popped in for a coffee while travelling through to the Lakes. Decided to have some lunch after seeing all the food passing us while we waited to be seated. The quality and freshness was second to none (Bakery on site) and everything was presented in the style of a top notch restaurant. The selection of coffee in cafetiere's is impressive for a small cafe too definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

I can understand why this cafe is so popular. Really friendly and efficient service. Breakfasts were awesome (I had the vegetarian full English) and served promptly. Really well run and happily deliver requests. All for a very reasonable price.

Been coming here for years. Great bakery for bread, rolls etc. The sweet bakery has a range of sugar filled confections that are delicious. The take away and sit in are on the right as you look, bakery on left. The steak sandwich is always good for lunch. Today had coffee and Yorkshire curd tart. Spectacular view from the outside seating.

6 of us had breakfast here. Service was polite and relatively quick considering they were busy. The full breakfast came with ALOT of bacon, almost too much if that's possible. All cooked to perfection. A bit pricey for a full breakfast but it is in a tourist location so to be expected I guess. Atmosphere was good. Love this place. Be back soon 😊

🥬 Vegan/vegetarian Options 🥬 Absolutely delicious and delightful food. Attended on a rainy midweek day few weeks ago with my husband and. Loved the food. Husband talked me into soup which I'm usually a avoidant of as always premade over processed. However all the food was fresh and so tasty. We will definitely be back. My only issue was we initially asked for breakfast but had just missed and was told couldn't order then a customer who came in after ordered breakfast and got. Though I'm glad if my choice was beautiful. The coffee selections where a great add too.
Claire Bromley — Google review
The staff were nice and very helpful, the food was basically all home cooked. The pies and fresh bread were very good. The roast beef and Yorkshire puddings and gravy looked really good. I wish I had had more time to sample more if what was on offer.

We were given options where to sit. Service was quick and friendly. Menu had lots to choose from for a cafe. I ordered the naked man breakfast (see photo attached), which also comes with black pudding, but I left that out. It was a good breakfast, but comparing it to other places, the price let it down slightly as it is quite expensive. Also, the sausages were mediocre, which were let down by their size and taste. The amount of bacon and the quality of bacon made up for this.

Chinese restaurant
The Golden Dragon restaurant in Lancaster offers a diverse Chinese menu with options like crispy duck and sizzling king prawns. They also provide a student discount and takeaway services. This establishment has been highly praised for its outstanding team and excellent service. The staff went above and beyond to assist with the planning of a preordered meal for 23 guests, ensuring that all the food arrived at the same time and was piping hot. Guests were delighted with the delicious cuisine served.
Ordered from here on recommendation. Bit of a wait but received a call in apology as they were very busy. After eating I understand why. Food was delicious, very clean (not at all greasy), incredibly tasty and fresh. It also arrived piping hot. Will recommend to everyone I know. Doubt I'll ever order Chinese food from anywhere other than here in the future. Cannot speak highly enough.😊
Carol Pennington — Google review
Really disappointing food. The first concern was that the food arrived less than 10 minutes after we ordered so it obviously wasn’t cooked fresh. I had vegetables in chilli which wasn’t too bad but nothing special with salt and pepper chips. As you can see from the photo the chips were dry with hardly any flavouring on, which is poor when you consider it cost £5.50 for it! The staff were ok, one older gentleman was friendly but the other was quite the opposite, no please or thank you and never once looked even close to cracking a smile. Definitely wouldn’t go again.
Ben Moynihan — Google review
Ordered for collection for 18:50, food was ready exactly on time. Food was tasty, fresh and portions were generous too, there was an option to get larger portions of some of the main dishes but we wouldn't have needed them. We'll be back again and we'll visit in person, really great food.

We hired Golden Dragon for a meal the evening before our wedding, and the team and the service was brilliant! The whole team were so incredible with all of the planning by doing a preorder for the 23 guests, they made the whole experience so much easier. A very beautiful restaurant. Fantastic service and great food. Definitely a must visit when in Lancaster. A rare gem.
Innes Heron-Stamp — Google review
I've eaten in the Golden Dragon for over 20 years when visiting Lancaster for work, and like many restaurants I visit they have used COVID to reduce the added niceties of dining out. For example, peanuts were placed on all tables, you could nibble away while you decided what to order. Beer was available on tap, now you have to purchase overpriced little bottles of beer, a hot flannel was provided at the end of your meal to wipe your face and hands clean and a whole orange cut into segments at the end of your meal to cleanse your palate. All of these have gone, presumably to maximize profits at the expense of service. I challenged these changes and was told that no one has noticed or commented. Shame....Food is still very nice but overall it has lost what made it a special dining experience for me.

I've come to Lancaster on a getaway and found this cosy inviting gem on my travels and craving Chinese.I was not disappointed.I had the spareribs in BBq(lots of meat) and fried Pork Dumplings, 2 appetizers as my main..yummy!!!And the waiter was so kind and gracious and helpful..I'll be back.5*

We had a lovely meal at this restaurant on a Sunday evening. We asked for some starters to come with our main course. The server was very friendly, he even gave our daughter advice on which Asian supermarket to buy from, as she is a student in Lancaster. The food was superb, good size portions and well priced. Will be visiting again when we come to see our daughter at university

Icequeen125 — Google review
It's been a while since I have eaten out at a Chinese restaurant and was excited for this. The food was a bit of a mixed bag though, we got one of the set meals which did seem slightly overpriced (although was actually a lot of food). The duck was very good and I enjoyed the pork fried rice (even if a little greasy). The hot and sour soup was a little too gloopy which made it unappetising and the rest of the dishes were just ok.
Benjamin Harvey — Google review
Food was fine. Delivery instructions clearly stated not to call and the gate code was provided. Proceeded to call and not use the gate code only to complain about it on delivery. People have not struggled with this in the past so I know the instructions should have been read.
Samson Presley-King — Google review
The food was good but the customer service was beyond horrendous. The waiter with no hair was very rude and ill-mannered. The entrance door did not put a sign that the restaurant was closed so we went it. Then he said with a condescending tone, “Can’t you see I’m cleaning? We are not open yet”. This was the second time that he treated customers this way. First time, he was also crass and rude. I hope this establishment would find a better waiter or invest in training their waiter in properly.
Melanie Castro — Google review
Myself and my family had frequented this establishment for years - most of my life in fact. I won’t order Chinese from anywhere else in Lancaster and will highly recommend it to out of town guests when they’re visiting. I’m disappointed therefore to have to say that in recent years it’s certainly lost its charm and uniqueness. Although the food is still wonderful, the extra touches they used to provide whilst dining in such as peanuts on the table, hot plates for sizzling dishes, fresh oranges after your meal and warm towels made all the difference - to me it made Golden Dragon that “special place” you had to book to celebrate momentous occasions. The customer service used to be exemplary but again that personal touch seemed somewhat lacking recently - it used to be the case you couldn’t finish your drink before they’d be over to fill your glass; wonderfully attentive. However, as an example on our most recent visit we ate off side plates as they failed to bring out bowls or check on us before we finished our meal. I’m writing this in the hope you’ll hear a little of this feedback and be able to inject a little bit of the magic back into the experience becuase I truly want Golden Dragon to continue to thrive in Lancaster for many years to come.
Lauren Akister — Google review
Lovely meal. Service was quick, and the restaurant catered for me very carefully due to my fish / seafood allergy.
Steve Mills — Google review
Don't waste your time and money. Unfortunately The Goldon Dragon is a shadow of its former self. None of the little inexpensive touches (like oranges, hot towels and a fortune cookie) at the end of your meal. The toilets were shabby with an old rusty radiator, wide open window and only very cold water to wash your hands (in the middle of winter) but the worst thing was paying with cash and not getting any change let alone a receipt. The Golden Dragon is an expensive takeaway with tables, not a restaurant. Very disappointing and not somewhere I will be returning.

A fabulous base for a week’s walking in and around Settle! Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere in the bar and restaurant. The rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean. The food was excellent .. I think between us we tried most things on the menu and couldn’t fault it at all! In fact we cancelled bookings elsewhere later in the week as it was so good. The bathrooms could be updated a little but it didn’t stop us from giving 5 stars. Will definitely be back!

Tried this venue with friends when our first choice turned out to be closed. It's situated right beside the A65 so you'll need transport, but there's plenty of parking. Inside it's spacious, light and airy. The menu is not extensive but offers some interesting options and the quality was excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient although most tables were occupied and it is obviously a popular venue. It's quite remote but we'll worth a visit if you happen to be in the area

Absolutely incredible food. I can't praise the food enough. Was incredible and the staff were lovely. Good bar, with some great beer on tap. Could do with a bit of a spruce in comparison to the restaurant, which isn't dog friendly for fair reasons. Room was good, but insanely hot. Radiator had a digital control with no instructions that seemed to have a mind of its own (I turned it down many many times to try and turn it off, to no joy, so the room got blazing overnight). Amazing heated floor in the bathroom but poor shower pressure through an electric wall mount. Room had an fair amount of boiler noise coming through the wall until late. Lemon diffusers absolutely overpowering in the room to be honest, but easy fix by moving outy into the bathroom. If you've been walking all day you'll ignore all the cons while sleeping in a really comfy bed and be blown away and enjoy.

Excellent venue to have dinner with wonderful choice on the menu. The food came promptly and the portion size was great at the price. 4 out of 5 stars because when booking a table online, it doesn't differentiate between restaurant and bar tables, so we had to request a restaurant table at the door and had a short wait.

This review is solely on the food. We came here for Sunday dinner. Inside the restaurant It was clean, spacious and cosy. Service was quick, friendly, and on point. We got the pork dinner and the lamb dinner (see photos attached) The meat on both plates was exceptional, tender, and succulent. The price was a little on the expensive side for what you get as you only have 3 different types of veg. The Yorkshire pudding was more quantity over quality even though it looked impressive as it arrived at the table they were dry and a little overdone. Unfortunately, these plates were let down by this, but I'd still reccomend to come here for a Sunday dinner.

The owner is very friendly and knows the surroundings very well. He can give you great recommendations of outings, while staying at this wonderfull place. On request there are also possibilities like cycle guiding. The Craven Arms is highly recommended a visit, during your holiday in the North York Dales. 2 x couples with 3 dogs in total. Decided on a single night stay between Christmas and New Year and we were no disappointed. We have previously visited The Craven Arms as we stay in Settle a few times during the year. We arrived at lunch time on Wednesday had lunch (a hot sandwich and bowl of chunky chips) went out for the day and back for tea. Various meals had in the party. Turned in late and a very comfy bed and pillows awaited us. Morning breakfast with lots of choice from buffet to hot selection. This was a very welcomed break and we can not fault any part of the stay. All areas very clean and owners and all staff very welcoming, friendly and offered good services. Definitely worth a return visit at some point.

Good meal. Good service and efficient. Worth a visit. Lovely warm surroundings. Stayed at Dallicar House which is just behind The Craven Arms which was fabulous. Near Skipton so great for a day out. Ingleton falls near if you want a 6 mile walk.

The house of public is very clean and has a hotel ontop also. I enjoyed very much the food of the nature the dinner was filling and took the hunger off me. The people are very nice in particular the lady of the land who gave me the one hundred thousand welcomes. Of this I am sure, I will go back there. It can be hard to find this type of house of public in England. 10 of the 10.

Cannot rate the rooms as we only visited for lunch but would expect the standard would be as good as our experience in the restaurant and bar. This was our place of choice for a family meetup, we were impressed last time and were not disappointed this time. Service is very friendly, making us feel very welcome. The menu has a good selection, with the Christmas menu now available. We now consider this as our first choice in the Settle area.

Fantastic food and generous portions for hungry walkers. Also wanted to highlight that they took great care catering for people with coeliac disease (gluten-free diet) so highly recommend for anyone with a food allergy.

We booked the Craven Arms for my Nans 90th birthday and it was fantastic from the moment we walked in. We started with drinks at the bar served by very friendly staff and then we were seated in the dining room. The starters , mains and deserts were all served perfectly, hot and delicious. Considering there were 15 of us plus several other large parties the food was fantastic. Really looking forward to eating here again next time we are in Giggleswick.

Food was awful. I had the burger. It was burnt beyond belief like a hockey puck. The chips were clearly fries just dumped out of a freezer into a fryer. £15+ for possibly the worst burger I've ever experienced. Maybe their other food is better?

I regularly bring a group to Settle for a celebratory break. We eat at least once at the Craven Arms and always enjoy the ambience, food & drink and service. We are booked in for a meal again in May and looking forward to it.
