Nakijin Castle Ruins is a famous place for cherry blossoms in Okinawa. This World Heritage Site features beautiful ruins of an ancient castle, and it is one of the best castles in Okinawa. The exterior of the castle is beautiful, and this is one of the best castles in Okinawa to take pictures because of its backdrop of pristine turquoise waters with historical ruins. The castle is also very spacious, which is perfect for taking pictures.
This beautiful world heritage sight is a place everyone should visit on Okinawa. The environment is very serene and the hilltop castle has amazing views of historical ruins with a backdrop of the pristine turquoise waters. If you have the opportunity to visit in February when the Sakura is blooming, you will have an even more picturesque view.

As castles go this one's a little different but never the less impressive. The open space and views are awesome, and the walls are wider and longer than expected. The site has explanation signs in multiple languages including English, Chinese, and Korean. There is also a museum but depending on time it might not be possible. If you're part of a tour group don't expect to do both the museum and site. Overall it was a good experience though
Donovan Pearce — Google review
Castle ruins registered with UNESCO Heritage. Nice walk around the ruins but the Cicadas are noisy. Good view of the sea and it's very windy and cool now in October. Worth visiting and you can easily spend about 45mins there to enjoy the breeze and peace.
Steven Lim — Google review
600¥ for a nice walk through the ruins. There are a few signs with information here and there but mostly you just look at the scenery. Being here while the cherry blossoms are in bloom was definitely a highlight! Multiple parking lots in the area and shops with food and souvenirs next to the ticket counter (definitely check out the ceramics store!!).
Olivia Schneider — Google review
It was a nice place to visit but quite underwhelming unless you understand more of it's historical importance. We went on a cold day in December but they say the best time to visit is during Okinawa cherry blossom season. Make sure you go to the museum before you visit the walls to learn a little more about the history.
Elias Chelala — Google review
Definitely worth taking a bit of a drive to see! Especially during cherry blossom season. Cheap entry fee and there is food and drinks at the park. Prepare to walk a light distance for parking
Andrew Martin — Google review
Very nice walk and view, made friends with a cat. You can see a part of the castle without buying tickets. But in my opinion it's worth it to buy tickets and see the rest of the ruins.
Marthe Efftink — Google review
Good spot to go to during cherry blossom season. Not advisable to bring strollers if you have a little one due to uneven pavement. The site is beautiful, you can see the ocean from above too.

Amazingly pretty! Beautifully preserved ruins. Prepare to walk around! Very spacious, absolutely perfect place to take pictures!
Timothy Curtis — Google review
Interesting to learn about how the castle was laid out. Very different from the castle in the European context. Definitely interesting to walk about to understand it's history. There is also a drink seller just outside the entrance to the ruins...it is a drink made of brown sugar, which you can try, and if interested, buy the whole bottle. We also bumped into an old lady who was picking berries off the trees in the area...the berries are edible, but you have to pick the red ones, which are sweet.
Daniel Lim — Google review
Way out of the way and off the beaten path but an excellent choice for a visit in the farther north of Okinawa. Depending on the time and weather you are likely to be the only ones on the grounds like we were and you get to experience them in the best setting. The ruins are expansive and with the historical signs quite interesting, walk around and imagine what a defensive stronghold the castle would have been. Sadly someone can always just open the backdoor.
Keaton Ambridge — Google review
A very beautiful historical site embedded in nature with many explanations which are available in english. It is easy to access from Motobu by bus. I was almost alone on the site during my visit. I walked in the forest back to Nakijin where there is a path leading to a watchtower ruin.

World Heritage site of ancient Ryukyu Kingdom. It's one of the most preserved castle on the island. The view from the top is unmatched. There's also a little museum near by for additional history and background information. Gift shops and cafes also available here.

If you love learning about history, this place is awesome. The views are beautiful and the staff are all very nice. The signs have English and Chinese translations under the Japanese, so you know what everything is.

It is one of the attraction spot in Okinawa. The park is famous for Sakura and ruins of castle. The park also has few games and food stalls. The park usually have big space for parking and there is entry fees for the park.

This was beautiful. I was lucky enough to attend during the cherry blossoms. The food trucks had amazing options, the gift shops for so much fun to go through, very kid I feel so incredibly lucky that I was able to visit this incredible.

Beautiful castle. Lots of food trucks and shops to get food and snacks. Don’t forget ice cream. The cherry blossom 🌸 trees are just starting to bloom. So the next week or few weeks from now the trees will be beautiful! Still beautiful now with the little flowers out. Just a beautiful place to see and walk through. The views are amazing! Would recommend this place.

The Nakijin Village History and Culture Center, located near the Nakijin Castle, offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of the area. The museum also showcases Chinese potteries dating back to the early Ming dynasty, highlighting the kingdom's trade relationships with Continental Asia. Additionally, visitors can view everyday items such as working tools and weapons.

Located beside the parking lot for the Nakijin Castle. Entry is included in your ticket. Definitely worth a stop. Lots of interesting information around the history of Nakijin. Including artifacts. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes. There is also an interesting restroom that has an art installation.

When you pay for the castle you pay for the musuem too! A great place to learn about the history of the area. They have an English packet you can take and explains the areas of museums. Some of the signs have very little English. There is 2 lower levels. The end leaves you in the bottom floor. Takes credit card and yen. Plenty of parking. Has vending machine and bathrooms inside.
Yuuki AsunaYui — Google review
If you're at the castle anyway definitely swing by this museum for a walk through. There's a wide range of items from daily life, cultural context, and history available. It won't take you very long to walk through both floors.

If you're in Okinawa and looking for a taste of authentic local cuisine, look no further than 今帰仁アグー料理一式長堂屋. This restaurant is renowned for its delectable Agu pork, a special breed with tender meat, low cholesterol, and high collagen content. The menu offers a variety of dishes that showcase the unique flavors of Okinawan cuisine.
最後の雑炊は、豚だと少しクセがある感じなので苦手な人は苦手かもしれないです🐷 (Translated by Google) We had the shabu-shabu course and the grilled course! The pork was sweet and delicious ♡ I chose other parts of the additional meat and ate a variety of them (*^^*) The vegetables in the hot pot were different from what I usually eat, and were delicious because they were Okinawan Yanbaru vegetables. The rice porridge at the end has a bit of a taste when made with pork, so some people who don't like it may not like it🐷

We made a new year's eve dinner reservation through Facebook. When we got to the restaurant, no one was at the front door. There were about 6 or 7 people standing in the concierge area, very crowded. Finally after a few minutes, a waitress came by and we spoke Japanese so we were seated. There after everything was pretty chaotic. We had to ask for everything. Nearly everything was served after we asked for it. No smiles at all, not to mention any congrats on the New Year eve! Everything was served slowly even after we asked for them. Agu pork was fresh, but nothing fancy or surprising. Price was quite high too. The other guests in other tables didn't look happy either. Do not recommend!!

Very fresh Agu pork. Thinly sliced for a great bbq and shabu shabu experience. Bbq us striaght forward. Shabu shabu: after you are done with it, they will bring a bowl of rice and stir it in with 1 egg to make a porridge. Quite a nice comfort food experience. The sesame sauce is chargeable. Their english level is not high so there maybe some is some confusion. About 5000 yen per person.

Hotel & Restaurant On the Beach Lue is a beachfront hotel in Okinawa West Coast, surrounded by breathtaking nature and immersed in endless ocean vistas. It features both comfortable Western and Japanese-style rooms, offering a relaxed and casual ambiance. The hotel boasts a restaurant where guests can indulge in BBQ dining experiences. Conveniently located near various sightseeing spots, including the renowned Churaumi Aquarium that can be reached within a 20-minute drive, it offers easy access to explore the region's attractions.
We stayed here for two nights in early November and absolutely loved it! We stayed in a Japanese-style room and it was gorgeous. Old, but well-maintained and clean. Our room had a little boardwalk which led straight onto the sandy coral beach (although the room itself faced into the forest). Staff were very friendly and helpful, and overall the atmosphere was very warm and cozy. There's a quaint, rustic quality about the place, but not in a way that suggests it's run-down or falling apart. I'm planning another trip to Okinawa soon, and will definitely be booking a room here again, this time with an ocean view!
Samantha Corpuz — Google review
We had a great stay at On the Beach Lue! Our family loved the beach and the BBQ, where you eat right next to the beach. We even played fireworks at the beach at night. Really comfy beds, and they are clean in the inside, despite the fact that it looks quite old on the outside. One thing I wish they can improve is the buffet breakfast. They have too less choices for us to choose. Practically you can just choose all the food you want in one round. The food was tasty, though. But still, we loved the stay in this hotel. Loved the beach!!

Room was basic but clean, and right on a beautiful beach. The breakfast photos in the menu looked simple, so we got food from a nearby (10 min drive) market and cooked it on the stove in the room. Easy access to the aquarium as well (15-20 min).
Tbone Slim — Google review
We did not stay at the hotel so I can't speak on the quality of the rooms, however we did stay up the street and for us this place was a Godsend. Perfectly situated on the quaint and beautiful beach Lue, we felt truly at home with the help of the nice man at the Information desk who, although our Japanese is hardly intelligible, happily helped us call a taxi on three occasions. We decided to have dinner here. Delicious comforting taste. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat due to the extraordinary courtesy of it's staff, the beautiful beach right outside and scenic ocean sunset view, the comforting home cooked meals, and the central location between Ohama/Sesoko Island and Miyazato.

(Translated by Google) The price is a little high, but if you think of it as a price for the view, you'll be satisfied. The second floor seats are buffet style and the price will be higher. In my case, I prefer the floor on the 1st floor and sit at a seat where I can see the Kouri Bridge. The staff are friendly, and the blond woman who is fluent in Japanese is particularly wonderful. This time (April 8), we were blessed with fine weather, and we had a wonderful lunch time with a perfect view of the Kouri Ohashi Bridge. Is it just my imagination? It seems that the price has increased from before? ? ? ? Wait, it's a location that can only be tasted here, so it's okay❗I'll go again.

Great view… great service… great food w/ the bonus of a server robot too 😉 After our visit to the tower we needed lunch so we just decided here. They did not disappoint! The garlic shrimp was awesome! My husband ordered the roast chicken which was divine and my girls really loved their Margherita pizza. Salad and soup were included in the chicken, just the soup on my garlic shrimp and salad and drink w/ the pizza. Oh and did I mention the pumpkin soup was heavenly 😉My picky non salad eater daughters also finished the salad because of the dressing. Sorry no pictures we were famished didn’t have the time 😁

Japanese regional restaurant
Hokuzan Shokudo is a small, cozy eatery adorned with wooden walls and offers counter seating. The establishment serves familiar small plates and beer at reasonable prices. Despite the slightly uncomfortable heat and stuffiness inside due to inefficient air conditioning, it is highly recommended to make advance reservations as many locals frequent the place. While free water service may not be available, it is worth trying the local beer.
Very friendly people and delicious food! The food is much better then the most places in Naha. But the most importand thing: Awamori from the tap!

Nice and fresh food. Fair price. A bit hot and stuffy inside. The air-con. Was not that functional. Better book in advance, coz Many locals go there. P.S. Did not service free water. Anyway ;) should try the local beer! Recommended

One of the most unforgettable destinations in Okinawa is the 沖縄バーベキュー今帰仁本店, a place that offers a unique and enjoyable experience. On this trip, a group of four friends from Tokyo visited for the first night. Despite their initial concern about the typhoon, they were fortunate enough to enjoy a private charter without any cancellations. The weather was perfect, allowing them to witness a breathtaking night sky filled with stars.

(Translated by Google) At this price, barbecue and camping are completely frustrated and I think it's amazing. Parking is free and the night is quiet and the atmosphere is good. You can also see stars. I didn't think I could drink a cold draft beer at the campsite. Toilet shower is perfect for camping. A place you can recommend.
