Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
Chittorgarh Fort is a vast 240-hectare citadel that has stood for over 1,000 years. It features intricate palaces, temples and gateways. The site exudes history and the ambiance is breathtaking during sunset. Visitors are often accompanied by friendly monkeys and dogs which make for great photo opportunities. A guide can be hired to efficiently navigate through important areas of the fort; however, visitors should refrain from carrying food due to the abundance of monkeys in the area.
It is a huge fort with many attractions! You need 3-4 hours to see the fort completely. If you just want to see main attractions you need couple of hours. There aren't many restaurants nearby and the few which are there are very expensive. I would suggest to visit the fort early morning as it gets very hot after 12. There is an entry fee of Rs.40 pp. The fort has a big history so if you are interested in knowing you should hire a guide, it would charge you around 500-600. It is a do visit place for all the historic lovers.

Okay place for sightseeing and photography. Have ancient temples of Shiva with most of them without murti. In a bit poor condition. Beautiful visuals of city can be seen Better to have a guide for showing sights and explaining this large area. However, be alert, these guides have fixed rate with shops for just showing you those shops.

This was a great experience. We took a guide person and paid 450 rs to him and which was a good thing to to as he takes you quickly to the important places that you need to visit. There are too many monkeys so avoid food pack with you.

Full of historical beauties. Most of the forts are present as ruins, but the structure of the intact temples prove the vastness and the delicate architecture of the Chittaurgarh. Really beautiful ambience. But be aware from the monkeys and avoid the noon time because of high heat.

A must visit historical place and don't go without a guide. Try to reach early in the morning to enjoy the views without tourists. The Shiva temple was the key attraction for us.

Just fantastic. Visited the fort over sunset with an amazing atmosphere. The buildings and ambience are absolutely perfect and one can breath history all around. Of course monkeys and dogs are welcomed and sharing some pictures with them is always a plus. I can fully recommend it and encourage everyone to spend a day or two in the city

First of all it is not just a fort ! Literally a whole town is inside it !! A lot of driving will be involved here ! But this is just a marvelous piece of architecture! There is not one site, but it has about 9-10 different visiting locations inside the fort ! It will take you almost 3 days to visit the complete location properly ! You can travel via Auto inside the fort premises, so no issues of that But the fort and everything inside it is just beautiful! 😍

Discuss tour time length beforehand – some guides rush you through the sites to finish quickly. Insist on enough time to explore and enjoy each location. For the whole fort and other locations tour they'll change around ₹600 (insist for 3-4 hours) Take your time here there is a beautiful viewpoint at the end of the palace named Rana Kumbha Palace Sunset point on Google maps. The entrance to the palace is on a steep inclined pathway which was originally used by the horses. This Palace was built by the great Rajput king Rana Kumbh but currently lies in a dilapidated condition. Our guide explained us the history of the palace across different generations of Rajput Kings and showed us the ruins of buildings which was once the residence of kings, queens, ministers, servants, horses etc. Most of the buildings have been destroyed by kings who invaded Chittorgarh fort. Maharana Kumbha is credited to having rebuilt the State of Mewar and of the 84 fortresses that defended Mewar 32 were erected by Maharana Kumbha.

Originally the palace was built by Bappa Rawal in 734 AD and later it was rebuilt by Maharana Kumbha. As per the historians, the palace witnessed the birth of Maharana Udai Singh who was the founder of Udaipur. It is believed that his life was saved in this palace only by a nurse who hid him inside the fruit basket. The Rana Kumbha Palace was also home to famous religious poetess Mirabai. Each and every corner of the palace carries some sort of history with it and will take you back to the historical period of Maharana Kumbha and Maharana Udai Singh.

Meera Bai (1498-1547) was a Rajput princess of Merta, who worshipped Lord Krishna as her Divine Lover. Meera was unwillingly married to Bhoj Raj, son of Rana Sangram Singh, in 1516. Bhoj Raj died of battle wounds in 1521, & thereafter she was persecuted by her in-laws for her religious devotion. Meera Bai was jailed in this palace by Vikram Singh. She spent her days in her private Krishna temple composing devotional songs. Later Meera left to Merta, but finding that she was not welcomed there, she finally settled in Dwarka. According to popular belief, she miraculously merged with the idol of Krishna in 1547.

Meera Bai, born in 1498 as a Rajput princess in Merta, had a remarkable life marked by her unwavering devotion to Lord Krishna. Despite being married to Bhoj Raj, the son of Rana Sangram Singh, in 1516, her heart belonged solely to her Divine Lover, Lord Krishna. Tragedy struck when Bhoj Raj succumbed to battle wounds in 1521. Following his death, Meera faced persecution from her in-laws due to her deep religious devotion. Vikram Singh, her brother-in-law, went to the extent of imprisoning her in a palace, a stark reflection of the challenges she endured for her spiritual beliefs. In the confines of her imprisonment, Meera Bai found solace and strength in her unwavering connection with Lord Krishna. She transformed her living space into a private Krishna temple, where she spent her days composing soul-stirring devotional songs, expressing the profound love and longing she felt for her Divine Lover. Eventually, Meera left Merta, likely driven away by the hostility she faced. However, her reception in other places remained unwelcoming. The resilient Meera finally found her haven in Dwarka, where she continued to live out her days immersed in devotion to Lord Krishna. The poignant end to Meera Bai's life is steeped in mysticism. According to popular belief, in 1547, she miraculously merged with the idol of Krishna, signifying the transcendence of her soul into the divine realm. Meera Bai's life story is not only a testament to her unshakeable faith but also a source of inspiration for those who seek a profound connection with the divine amidst life's tribulations.

The Kalika Mata Temple in Chittorgarh is a magnificent testament to both architectural prowess and spiritual significance. As a visitor, I was enthralled by the temple's intricate design, which beautifully blends Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. The temple's serene ambiance, nestled amidst the rugged Aravalli hills, offers a truly peaceful and spiritual experience. Inside the temple, the idol of Goddess Kalika Mata exudes a divine energy that's hard to put into words. The aura of devotion and the sound of hymns being chanted make for a deeply moving experience. The temple's history, dating back centuries, adds a layer of cultural richness to the visit. Furthermore, the panoramic view from the temple's hilltop location is simply breathtaking. It provides a vantage point to appreciate the grandeur of Chittorgarh fort and the surrounding landscape. The temple's upkeep and cleanliness are commendable, making it a welcoming place for both pilgrims and tourists. The friendly locals and the temple's priest, who offer insights into the temple's history and rituals, enhance the overall experience. I highly recommend a visit to the Kalika Mata Temple in Chittorgarh for anyone interested in spirituality, history, or simply seeking a tranquil escape into Rajasthan's rich heritage. It's a place that resonates with both the devout and those in search of cultural and architectural marvels.

Each and every temple being a spiritual place is always worth to visit to calm your mind and spirit but the priest and its associates turn it into a place to extort money from the devotee by showing their religious supremacy and if anyone not complied with their demands the priests shall always misbehave with the devotees. This type of practice by the priest is clearly visible in this temple and way of behaving with the devotees are very much disappointing. Discriminatory behaviour of the priest between local people and outside tourists should be condemned and if possible management board or staff required to be formed and appointed to stop such misbehaviour and discriminatory business attitude of the temple priest. RTDC or concerned authority is required to look into the matter as early as possible.

The Kalika Mata Temple is a popular Hindu temple inside the Chittaurgarh Fort complex, with many locals coming to pray when I was visiting. The temple is principally for Bhadrakali, a form of the great goddess Shakti. Purely from an aesthetic point of view, the temple is not all that interesting. There’s the usual array of relief sculptures of Hindu themes, but the walls are not as elaborately decorated as many of the other temples in the complex. Okay to visit, but I wouldn’t go out of the way to see it.

Hotel Pratap Palace, an informal lodging housed in a beautifully adorned structure, offers guests a delightful dining experience on its terrace. Positioned conveniently just 5 km from the Chittorgarh Fort and a mere 500m from the railway station, this hotel boasts satisfactory rooms. However, it's important to note that those seeking room service or affordable food options may be disappointed as the menu is pricey and delivery can take up to an hour.
Hotel Pratap Palace is located in the heart of the Chittorgarh city. This hotel is near to Chittorgarh fort. Our stay in this hotel is memorable one. The ambience of this hotel is a heritage type. Rooms of the hotel are very spacious and contain all required amenities. Swimming pool of this hotel is also nice. They have a very good pool side restaurant and bar. Also they have facility of jeep safari to visit chittorgarh fort . The best part of this hotel is the affordability . This hotel provide rooms in a very low cost. Service staff of the hotel is very good. Reception is also very responsive. Hotel staff is very co-operative. Thank you Hotel Pratap Palace to make our stay memorable... specially our kids enjoyed your property

Let me start with positives. Food is good. Staff is courteous. Service is not quick. This is one of the oldest hotels in Chittorgarh so it has its old charm but I think it will do good if the management tries to enhance the maintenance of it. Swimming pool water was stinking, table cloth was worn out etc are the signs of things not going good on financial side or management just trying to squeeze everything out of it without putting much back.

I stayed here in the month of Feb recently for one night. The resort is quite close to Chittorgarh Railway station. Convenient. You will need to have your own vehicle or hire auto for sightseeing. But the resort (even though it’s a heritage property) it’s not maintained well. The bathroom fixtures are old. The service is slow. Food is quite expensive. The staff was cooperative. The room was spacious but yes it needs a lot of maintenance. Cleanliness I felt is an issue here. But having said that it’s a decent stay for a night.

To begin with, the rooms were clean and well-maintained. The hotel had a nice ambience, with tasteful decor and comfortable furnishings. Additionally, parking was available right beside the road, which made it convenient for me to park my car. One thing I appreciated about this hotel was that they had their food service available. This meant that I didn't have to go out to find a restaurant after a long day of traveling, which was a nice convenience. While my experience was generally positive, there were a few minor issues. For instance, the Wi-Fi was a bit slow at times, which was a minor inconvenience. However, this did not detract from the overall quality of my stay. Overall, I would say that this hotel is above average. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the ambience is nice, and the parking is convenient. While there may be some minor issues, I believe that this hotel offers good value for the price and I would certainly consider staying here again in the future.

BUT DO NOT GO THERE IF U ARE EXPECTING ROOM SERVICE OR FOOD. food menue was quite expensive and room service took almost 1 hr for them to come. Also there is NO LIFT. Rooms are good. Price is good. Worst hotel experience till date the property isn't maintained lift, swimming pool,AC,fan,Water Taps, etc all of these things didn't work so we asked them to change our room but they still said to wait for some time for AC to do cooling we waited nearly 2 hrs and it wasn't able to cool the room so after multiple requests they agreed to change the room in the new room too the AC wasn't able to cool the room but the fan did work intitially in this room so we decided to shift room because atleast the fan was working but then after a hour the electricity supply went out and our fan completely stopped but AC was still ON(which btw wasn't able to cool the room) then after some time electricity came but the fan was now working on 10% speed and AC further slowed down and even the washrooms had non existent water supply and as the lift wasn't working we had to climb 3 floors to reach our room and don't even think of going to swimming pool it is filled with dry leaves and the pool bottom surface was also dirty with greenish algae due to which the water was also dirty so we didn't dared to go in it by seeing it's condition. They don't have parking instead they park guest cars on road outside the hotel.

Having come here based on positive reviews, we were pleasantly satisfied with our experience at Manuhar Dining Hall. The standout aspect of this establishment is undoubtedly the friendly and welcoming staff who demonstrated exceptional politeness. Moreover, the food was delightful, particularly the thali which was both flavorful and satisfying without being excessively heavy or spicy. The Gatte ki subzi stood out as well, with its delicious and tender gatte that simply melted in the mouth.
They delivered the food in Train at Chittorgarh Railway station at our Coach. Food was delivered on time. Timely updates were shared the food is out for delivery, delivery guy's number. We ordered Dal Khichdi (5/5) and Shakes(4/5)

Budget restarant. Best for royal rajasthan taste. Royal style of service. Kind staff. We tried fixed dish. Taste is good. For desi taste best and not good for punjabi taste. Must try tanduri Tea here.

Just visited the restaurant, waiter have little bit confused to describe the food. 1. Waiter informed us that thali is available with limited to 6 chapati and for one person. It confused us , because there is two types of thali system in india. A. Limited items - no person limit. B. Unlimited items - one person limit. 2. Now what happen another person again asked that regarding it, but he has also failed to describe it. 3. At the last of payment I informed it to the reception. Then the person informed us that their thali is unlimited to one person. So they should provide a training to their waiter. Last thing their rates are normal, however taste of them are average.
Sanjay Chaturvedi — Google review
Not good not bad, it's a mix kind of experience because I ordered thali and they give less sabji and more chapati in thali system and you have to order more sabji for finishing the food. So they charge you more for if you order thali. Otherwise food is good, location is good.

Came here after reading good reviews and we were not at all disappointed. The best thing about this place was it's staff- so very cordial, so polite and welcoming. The food was also good- the thali was tasty and filling, without the overpowering ghee, oil or spices. The Gatte ki subzi was delicious, melt in the mouth gatte. Highly recommended

Ordered the food from Train. They delivered it on Railway Station smoothely. The lady on the call was very polite and explained the menu with utter patience. The food was such a treat for the taste buds. Their channa masala is authentic rajasthani and lip smacking. Chapattis cooked with good quality fluor and the ghee applied over them made it perfect. Reasonable price and great quality food.
