Cultural center
Concerts & Shows
The Palace of Peace and Reconciliation is a renowned cultural center with a distinctive pyramid-shaped design made of glass and steel. It was inaugurated in 2006 as the venue for the Congress of World and Traditional Religions, held every three years in Kazakhstan. The complex boasts a 1350-seat opera hall, exhibits, and an apex conference room adorned with stained-glass doves created by British artist Brian Clarke.
The Palace of Peace and Reconciliation also translated as the Pyramid of Peace and Accord, is a 62-metre-high (203 ft) pyramid in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, that serves as a non-denominational national spiritual centre and an event venue. Designed by Foster and Partners, with a stained glass apex and windows by architectural artist Brian Clarke, the Palace was constructed to house the triennial Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, and completed in 2006. Built by Sembol Construction at a cost of 8.74 billion Kazakh tenge (approx. $58 million), the project was conceived as a permanent venue for the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which meets triennially in a purpose-built conference chamber at the apex of the pyramid. In 2011 and 2013, the International Astana Action Film Festival was held in the Palace.

Internet conspiracy theories led me here. It turns out to be a pretty interesting art gallery, religious museum, and neutral ground for various religious conferences. My guide was in English and really friendly and informative. CONS: Entrance experience is very poor. There's 10 identical doors at the front entrance, and all but one of them locked, with no indication of which one. After finally finding the correct door to go inside, was met by a very moody metal detector operator who gestured vaguely over to a small window to buy tour tickets. After buying the tickets, was told to go over to the cafe and wait, without any indication of who I was waiting for. Entrance experience aside, still a very interesting place from outside and in.

Had an enormous pleasure attending the Kulanshi Art Center which is located on the Täuelsizdik 57 Street. I'd like to dedicate this post to Dr. Leyla Mahat for the inspiration ☺🥰🤗. A small hint for the Art lovers, the building itself is in a shape of a Pyramide 🤩 it is beautiful not only during the day but at night as well. For those who likes bright colours -> you should definitely walk around Nur-Sultan after the sun goes down 🥰😉

Park looks deserted. Visited on Sunday. No water in the fountains etc. probably it’s closed temporarily. Structure is beautiful. Good for a leisure stroll around the park. Nothing much to see in the park except the monument.

Amazing landmark! So astonishing compared to anything I've seen before! Great for photos but haven't been inside as it was under construction unfortunately.
Glen Courtney (Mindbeyondbody) — Google review
The place looks desserted, you have to try all the doors before someone take pity and let you in. You can only go in with a guide. The tour is pretty good, in English and Russian. Only 1500t in 2023. Guide is good. It is a place for all religious leaders to gather to reconcilate, whatever that means.
Never Lamb — Google review
Very unique and slightly bizarre landmark that is geometrically aligned to the presidential residence, the Baiterek tower and Khan Shatyr Mall. Fascinating from the outside as well as the inside. For an inside visit one must go with a tour, usually starting at every full hour, they do offer tours in English but only if there are enough people available. Also possible to book in advance to make sure you get the tor you want :) The over all architectural construction is futuristic and modern, no surprise here 😄 the exhibition is slightly bizarre, the whole concept is for sure worth a visit, but you may want to make up your own mind about the representation of religions here ;)

It's a place where the 200 fallen angels meet. The book of Enoch states that there are 200 fallen angels that meet at a round table on top of a pyramid and wouldn't you know it this place has a round table at the top of a pyramid with EXACTLY 200 seats!! What are the odds??!! There is also a portal out across the water. Probably where the fallen angels come thru to meet at the top of the pyramid!! It's funny how they sell it as a place of peace and harmony when it's EXACTLY the opposite!! Enjoy your visit to the evil pyramid of the fallen angels!! I didn't and I had to get out of there ASAP!!! You could feel the evil frequency up in that place!! Don't be fooled!!!

Hazrat Sultan Mosque is a stunning religious structure situated in Nur Sultan. Built in 2012, it boasts of an impressive classical Islamic style architecture featuring a massive dome and four minarets. The mosque's beauty is not limited to its exterior as its interiors are equally breathtaking, reflecting the peace and respect that Islam stands for. In addition to being a place of worship, the mosque also has a library where visitors can learn more about Islam.
I experienced heavy snowfall while visiting the mosque at -20deg C. The mosque was simply magical with it's intricate design. The main praying area was huge and signify the Islamic history. A must for all Muslim visiting Kazakhstan

Very picturesque mosque, we went during the day when there was no scheduled prayer, but there were still a handful of people in there. Males enter from left side of entrance and females right. Women have to cover most skin obviously and also are supposed to stay on their side (there are barriers) However, we are told by a local that usually tourists are allowed to roam around to appreciate the mosque(not gender restraint of where you can walk)
Jinn — Google review
Beautiful architecture worth worship! We went there several times during my visit in Nur Sultan. Finally we visited inside on a Friday prayer. I was amazed by this first visit to a grand mosque as a non religious person. Peace and respect were the spirits.

For each masjid is a place to calm your heart and soul in a world of problems and concerns. This is the magnificent Hazrat or Hazret Sultan Mosque, (Holy Sultan) It is the largest mosque in Central Asia and is located on the right bank of the Yesil River in Astana, the very modern capital of Kazakhstan Constructed in 3 years (2009-2012) this beautiful place of worship can impressively accommodate five thousand worshipers easily and on holidays - up to 10 thousand people. Now that’s simply amazing!.

Probably the biggest masjid in Kazakhstan. Especially liked summer camp organized for kids. There were classes both for boys and girls. They learn basics of religion, Arabic and Qur'an. Quite a lot people came for taraweeh prayer in Ramadan.

Museums
The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, established in 2014, is a contemporary institution showcasing exhibits on the culture and history of Kazakhstan. The museum's vast interior, constructed with blue glass and white marble, contains interactive displays and exhibitions featuring artifacts from ancient times to modern-day Astana. Notable themed halls include Ethnography and Astana Hall.
Super well organized museum. Very big, with a lot of items. Everything very beautiful. They offer for free a place to leave your jacket and also backpack. The restrooms are very clean.

A fantastic museum, presenting the history of a great nation, from prehistoric to recent times. The ticket is less than 1.5€, and an extra of around 2€ for the Golden Hall. A must visit when in Kazakhstan! There's also a small cafe, and a small restaurant inside.
Vasilis Kos. — Google review
The museum is huge, but the flow is weird. You keep jumping back and forth in time in each room, no logical reason for that. Also, explanations are very poor and easy to miss. Thanks god there's chatGPT to assist your visit.

Beautiful museum, nice collection of Kazakhstan in the middle ages. Lovely photography of Kazakhstan in the 20th centuries. Do visit the gold room, could easily spend a day only there. Give it at least 3 hours to go through every collection.
Dariga Ainukhatova — Google review
Most of the exhibits were in English which was nice since it's the only language I speak. It was a very nice museum that had many things ranging from history of Kazakhstan and even a modern art area. I spent 4 hours here with my girlfriend but I could of easily spent more here. It would of been nice to have a guided tour but other than that it was a very nice museum

Must visit! Golden Man something special. Nice expositions, a lot of artefacts, very well done. Plan to spend all long day!
Darius Radkevicius — Google review
I was quite impressed by the museum exhibits. There are many interesting things to see from dinosaurs to the limited edition modern coins. The art gallery on the top floor has a nice collection of paintings by Kazakh artists. In addition, the museum has a great app that contains information about some of the exhibits with text or audio guides. There is no mobile network reception inside the museum, but there is an open wife available so you can use the app to enhance the visit to the museum, although the museum wi-fi was quite slow (( In addition, prepare to walk a lot cause you have 3 levels to explore, and I wish they have more chairs to rest while walking around the exhibits But overall I highly recommend visiting this place, especially in the morning

Nice museum to visit. They did not offer us to visit the golden room just charged us 2100 tenge per person on the spot. No complains, definitely worth it.
Marina Geller — Google review
Grand museum with a lot of information and exhibits - well thought out, not just text upon text. Also a lot of attentive staff. We did not visit the golden chamber but we were short on time and our local friend said it's probably not worthy in our case. The Samruk and it's egg in the foyer is stunning, and if you come at the right time it will also flap it's wings. We came in October, and it was quite empty
Jinn — Google review
Absolutely excellent. They appear to be gradually moving exhibits from other city museums to this overarching museum. A wide range of topics and exhibits.
Brian Popplestone — Google review
Very interesting place, a lot of history, probably could spend couple days there if you are a fan of it
Denis Moysevich — Google review
Museum is deceptively larger than you realize. The individual exhibit halls aren't huge but there are a lot of them. The signage on each hall explains very well what you will find inside however there isn't a good path marked between each exhibit so sometimes you aren't sure where to go next or in what order to do the individual halls. I'm sure I missed a hall or two just by taking a "wrong turn." Also some escalators or halls were closed without an explanation or signs about where to go next. Occasionally you'll see museum staff that you can ask. Overall very nice museum. Lots of history of the region with historical artifacts and restorations. In my opinion the museum can be split into thirds...about 1/3 is the ancient and medieval history of the region (which I personally found most interesting). Another 1/3 is 1970+ art from various artists, sculptures painting and the like. About 1/3 of the museum is about the history of modern (post Soviet) Kazahstan, its first president, creation of its currency, military...and various achievements during that time. If you include everything I would say plan to spend 2 to 2.5 hours there.
Vladimir Blinchevsky — Google review
A must visit if you're ever in Astana. They have a massive collection of ancient artifacts and a beautiful fine arts collection too. The structure is one beautiful piece as well.
Amabel Joy — Google review
The National Museum gives a good overview of the history of Kazakhstan. The exhibition is large, unfortunately some rooms were closed. For a visit you can plan two to three hours. The tickets are cheap. But if you want to go to the gold exhibition, you have to buy a more expensive extra ticket. Checkroom and lockers are free of charge. The team was very friendly, but many could not speak English.
Oskar Vitlif — Google review
It’s a great big museum, the current expositions are amazing There’s a hidden gem on the seventh floor that should not be missed. You may walk in and see the first floor without paying but once you want to go tot be second floor you need a ticket. So make sure you pay. It’s a very friendly museum. It has braille, audio, any type of aids for disabilities. Audio guides QR codes, everything. The souvenir shop is a huge no for me because it’s pricey.

Huge and splendid museum from inside . Has dinosaurs 🦕 🦖 skeletons to stone age demonstration and futuristic vision artefacts . Requires atleast 2 hrs for complete viewing
Sinthia Pandit — Google review
Beautiful museum, very reasonably priced. Free to school kids during the holiday breaks. Definitely a must if you are interested in local history and culture. They have both modern and ancient exhibits that showcase the development of human settlements in the area, and the archeological finds are amazing if you are interested in that sort of thing. We're looking forward to visiting this museum again.

This is a beautiful modern building with several exhibitions inside representing Kazakhstan's ancestry, history and modern times. There are also golden treasures excavated from Golden Horde's burial hills in Kazakh steppe. Additionally there is an exhibition of Kazakh art (paintings, graphics ans sculpture).

This museum is offer a great details of information of the Kazakhstan history from the past ages. It collected , organized and displayed all the artifacts in orderly manner. It also display well preserved art works and drawing that have important cultural significant. They are some new contemporary art works too. Overall, I will give 10 out 10 points, for the museum. The museum is well designed and the building is accessible for challenging audiences like wheelchair persons and etc. It is also accessible with the public bus in the city . The staffs are very helpful and welcoming. There is a small coffeshop/canteen available at the ground floor for you to refresh yourself after walking and browsing the museum. They provided wonderful and delicious local cuisines ( kashan porridge). All the artifacts are labeled and detail explained in three languages, Kazakh language, Russian language and English language too. A must visit place to everyone who come to the capital city. Suitable for family and individuals. Please take note, that this museum is closed on Monday.

The Nur Astana Mosque is a contemporary and expansive place of worship with gilded domes and a vibrant interior. It is situated in a picturesque territory that boasts a well-maintained park, making it an ideal spot for visitors to explore during the summer and autumn months. While its beauty may attract tourists from all walks of life, it's reassuring to see the mosque being actively used by members of the Muslim community during prayer times.
Great! It is not the bigger one but It is worth it

The place is amazing. You should remove your shoes before entering and leave the at the shoe place. It’s free and safe. The place is huge and it has a museum inside. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO JAVE A PHOTOSHOOT, make sure you’re quiet and respectful specially if they are in praying time. It’s very tourist friends and for ladies they let you borrow covers for your hair if you don’t have one but YOU MUST cover your hair and have covered shoulders and legs. For men you must cover your shoulder and long pants. No sports hats. They have a tower where you can view the city but when I went it was closed. They also have a kids zone with those jumpy things. They have stores inside. They sell beautiful things very expensive.

Definitely one of the more beautiful mosques I’ve seen in this Eurasia region. It is photogenic and picturesque during the day time but also at night. Inside is peaceful and calming as most places of worship are. This mosque’s story gets even more interesting once you research where it’s funding came from — I won’t mention it here as it may offend others but do look into it as that piece of info makes this place even more interesting than it already is. :)

A Beautiful mosque MashAllah. It's also humbling to see that the mosque actually gets used by brother's during Salah times. Been to many mosques in my lifetime, only too see that there made into show pieces with our Ummah no where to be seen. Allah SWT bless this land and it's people and keeps bringing our brothers and sisters to house of Allah. Majestic place, highly recommended to come visit and pray.

Line Brew Astana is an impressive restaurant with reasonable prices that offer a unique dining experience. The establishment itself resembles a castle, both inside and out, creating a captivating atmosphere. The food served here is of excellent quality, particularly their meats. One standout dish is the beef cooked on a hot stone, allowing customers to customize their preferred level of doneness along with vegetables. The marination of the meat adds to its tenderness and flavor.
Excellent steaks and salads. A little pricey. Great service!

Food is so so. I ordered 500g of the dry aged steak. It was served as two separate cuts. One was great the other was possibly spoiled. The fry's were not good.

Amazing restaurant!! Prices are very reasonable and it is totally worth it. First, the building is a castle and both the interior and exterior are really cool. The food is great quality, especially the meats. We tried the beef on a hot stone and were able to cook the meat, along with some vegetables, to our liking. The meat was perfectly marinated and very tender. The beer is also very good. When we were there they had a live band and singer there. Very pleasant atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

The decor at Saksaul is impressive, with meticulous attention to detail and a showcase of Kazakh cultural artifacts. The ambiance is inviting, and the service stands out with its friendly demeanor. Solo travelers will appreciate the warm atmosphere that prevents any feelings of loneliness. The food at Saksaul is delicious, starting with the flavorful Funchoza starter that delicately combines various ingredients. The kebabs, both lamb and lamb liver, are juicy and well-prepared without excessive fat.
Great service, good prices, tasty national cuisine, unique dishes (qumis ice cream!)

Very nice decor, attention to detail in the decoration and Kazakh cultural items on display, good ambience, and most importantly a service with a smile. Did not make a solo traveler feel lonely! The food was tasty. I had a Funchoza starter, which was flavoursome with delicate taste of the ingredients. Then it was 2 kebab portions - lamb and lamb liver, which was succulent. The liver kebab can at times be with too much fatty covering in other places, but not here. Great choice of local food here. Overall was a very good meal at a fair price considering the location and level of service. The waiter was attentive enough to advise that I may change my chosen main dish if I was in a hurry. Will definitely come back here

Beautiful setting with nice food. Had a wonderful slow hearty and comfortable meal. English menu and service available and the manager and waiters were all very friendly and polite (which is quite a contrast to many places I have visited as a tourist in KZ.) Restaurant
I recently went to The Shoreditch restaurant with my colleagues and had a wonderful experience in the VIP room. The waiters were extremely friendly and helpful, particularly one gentleman who was originally from the UK and spoke perfect English. It was refreshing to be able to communicate easily with him, especially since it can be challenging for foreigners in Kazakhstan without knowledge of Kazakh or Russian. The food at The Shoreditch was outstanding, particularly the Falafel salad and Lebanon salad.
Everything is GREAT in the place; music, food, drinks, ambient, very friendly staff who speaks English is a must in Nur-Sultan

This is one of the best places to eat at in town, plain and simple. Staff are all polite and friendly, food is delicious to the level of worthing their often heftier price tags, and their menu keeps on surprising with superb additions like the falafel and halloumi burger. We tried 6-7 dishes in one go, and even the salad tasted much better than how a salad normally tastes. Certainly a must visit, especially for vegetarians who want something other than pizza and pasta in Astana.

I've been to this place with my colleagues last night. We were in the VIP room. Waiters were really kind and helpful. There was a guy who lived in the UK. His English was perfect, I specifically thank him so much as it's not easy to be a foreigner in Kazakhstan without Kazakh and Russian knowledge, I felt really good to communicate with him. Food was super. I chose Falafel salad and Lebanon salad. It would be better if they added more falafel or meat inside and less vegetables 😃 Shisha was also great. Highly recommended.

The place is nice and cozy, however, a bit overpriced and the food although quite tasty, I would recommend to have Mac cheese to offered in an adult portion as well along with being it in a kid's menu. Staff and location as well as parking are good. One negative moment is that sofas (those opposite bartender) were not that comfortable, I like being relaxed and kinda laying after food that sitting firmly.

Stopped by for coffee and stayed for the dinner. Lovely aesthetic. The lighting there is dimmed just to the level your eyes feel comfortable. Nice touch. The menu has plenty of options to choose from. The waitress that served me, Daria, encouraged me to try their prawn pasta and the duck salad. That was really good. I also loved their approach in general. The service is not intrusive but the waitress is always within a sight. 10/10

Their special burger is one of the best burgers I tried in Astana, with fresh ingredients and good quality meat. Although they had limited options of desserts available, their cheese cake with mango sorbet was also absolutely delicious. Also liked their cute plates with the restaurant map on them. Besides good food the restaurant has live performances in the evening (around 20:00 or 8pm)

Great selection of foods, from burgers to salads to steaks prepared exactly to your taste. Vegetarian options also. Friendly staff. Live music most nights. They even let me use English!

It looks like a proper place with an interesting menu but unfortunately the whole place is a smoking area. Inside and outside 💨🤢

MÖKKI, a remarkable hotel dining establishment, impresses on every level. It stands out as one of the finest culinary experiences available. The cuisine not only surpasses expectations but also sets a new standard for excellence. The service goes above and beyond the typical five-star hotel experience, warranting high praise. I highly recommend indulging in their business lunch option, which boasts an array of delectable offerings including salad, soup, cold cuts and desserts alongside an exquisite main course.
Great and well-managed Italian restaurant, especially the business lunch concept and the events hosted every few weeks. What we value particularly is that the hotel invites Michelin-starred chefs from all over the world and creates a flawless dining experience from the moment you set foot in the door. Definitely a culinary 'place to be' in Astana.

We enjoyed the food and the service, it was really great. We came here for the view as well but there was no much view as restaurant is located in the third floor. Price is European, and you will pay like in one of the expensive European cities.

Service is excellent! Staff is friendly and very professional. We went there for a buffet lunch. Good selection of food, although salad bar was quite boring. Dessert was delicious 😋. Drinks other than water are not included and we ordered tea that came with a selection of jams and honey. You are given three options to choose from for you second meal. I had linguini pasta with salmon flakes and it was heaven. You should definitely grab bread with onions, which I think is made of corn flour.

For the price you pay and compare to European standards it's really not worth it. I highly recommend you to not drink wine there, overpriced and low quality.

We had a wonderful dinner at Mokki! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The restaurant has dishes for every palate and a wide variety of cocktails. The staff was extremely polite and attentive. I also wanted to separately thank our server Maral and administrator Baqit for taking great care of us!

Chechil pub offers a great ambiance, pleasant music, delectable cuisine, and is an ideal place to celebrate birthdays with friends. The lively atmosphere matches the number of years one wishes to toast with beers. The staff is warm and hospitable, especially waitress Ardasha who is friendly and efficient in attending to customers' needs. Another unnamed waitress on the second day also provided excellent service.
(Translated by Google) Good atmosphere , nice music , delicious food , celebrated birthdays here with friends two days in a row . Action how many years so many mugs of beer, class !!! The staff is welcoming and friendly. I would especially like to mention the waitress Ardasha, a very nice girl, understood perfectly, brought everything quickly !!! I also liked the waitress serving us on the second day, unfortunately I did not remember the name ... but also everything was super, thanks to both of them for the excellent service !!! ) Let them continue in the same spirit !!! Che chill pub is okay. The only thing that ruins is that they put music too loud. I took my friend from another country to have some drinks together thinking that it would be a nice spot to chat and maybe dance a bit, however the music was too loud and tasteless. We were not able to say anything but shout so that to be heard. That ruined my expectations, but the kitchen and drinks were okay.

(Translated by Google) Great pub. We were on the 2nd floor - reasonable prices, delicious food, good promotions. We celebrated our birthday - we congratulated them with a piece of cake and a candle (it was very nice), there was also a photo zone with balloons. After 10 o'clock the dancing began - the dance floor was small, but everyone fit in))). If you only drink beer, it’s very budget-friendly, but we took whiskey for 17,000 for 0.5 (I don’t know about expensive/cheap) (Original) Отличный паб.

(Translated by Google) Currently the only Chechil Pub in Astana. The building is in an easily accessible location and is very spacious inside. The menu, as always, is quite extensive and allows you to experience different tastes. It's a nice place where you can chat with your friends with live music. (Original) Astana sehrindeki tek Chechil Pub su anda.

The waiters are rude. ..On the ground floor at the entrance you are waiting for a taxi, they push you out into the street in the cold..... they say, wait on the street... Horrible... A crowd gathers right there)))) And at the entrance there is one, , the receptionist is lying and won’t choke.....I show them that the taxi is coming.....: wait on the street, they say, we don’t care.... It was freezing outside yesterday.... Some kind of horror. .... And they all gathered and waited for my taxi to arrive...... 5 or 6 guy waiters)))))) (Original) Добрый день. Ужасное обслуживание....
