The Twin Pagoda Temple is a remarkable ancient complex characterized by two impressive octagonal towers built during the Ming Dynasty. This historical site is full of fascinating memories and represents an important cultural landmark. Despite being mostly unoccupied, visitors are encouraged to take their time exploring and discovering all that this magnificent attraction has to offer.
A lot of memories, amazing historical place, almost empty, u can take ur time discovering the place.

The Twin Pagoda Temple (Chinese: 双塔寺; pinyin: Shūangtǎsì), officially known as Yongzuo Temple (Chinese: 永祚寺; pinyin: Yǒngzuòsì), of Taiyuan, Shanxi province, China, is a temple containing two pagodas dating from the Ming dynasty. The East pagoda was built in 1597, and the West one in 1612. In charge of the pagoda’s construction was a high ranking monk, named Fodeng (佛灯). By the 20th century, deterioration since construction had caused the East pagoda to slant from its center of gravity by 2.87 meters. In 1995, experts set about trying to correct the slant. They removed earth from underneath the pagoda and successfully corrected the pagoda's tilt. The temple contains approximately 260 stone steles, as it is the location where stele from temples in the area that are no longer extant were moved. The temple grounds also contain many peony trees, one of which dates from the Ming Dynasty.

As a local, I've gone to this place several times. Now only in specific dates and limited time can tourists go inside the tower. Twin Pagoda Temple is now inside a park, whose entrance fee is 20 Yuan. Inside the park, you can enjoy beautiful flowers in spring and experience great miaohui(activities held specifically at temples) in summer. However people nearby are really bad. Outer Temples are engraved with characters, mostly tourists' names, inner Temples are quite narrow, allowing only one person to pass the staircase simultaneously. View from up there is not good, because now you can see nothing but taller buildings. In total, if you just want to see the tower or want to climb them, do not come, because they are highly protected so you can't even touch them nowadays.

(Translated by Google) The twin towers are historical relics of the Ming Dynasty and are quite exquisite. It’s a pity that I didn’t go when the peonies were blooming (Original) 双塔都属于明代的历史文物,相当精美 可惜没有在牡丹开花的时候去

(Translated by Google) I went there late and couldn't go in, but it looked pretty good from the outside. Wenfeng Pagoda was built in the 27th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1599), and the other tower was built by monk Miaofeng nine years later. After completion, it was called Xuanwen Pagoda together with the old pagoda. The twin towers are both 54 meters high, facing each other in the north and south, 46.6 meters apart. They are both constructed of bricks and imitated wood.

Jinci Temple is a remarkable tourist attraction in China that boasts an ancient temple complex featuring a 3,000-year-old cypress tree. The temple has been documented as far back as the Tao of the Northern Wei Dynasty, which dates from AD 466 to either 472 or 527. The ancestral hall, hall, and flying beam are all impressive structures that showcase the rich history of Jinci. This site offers visitors an extraordinary glimpse into both the history of Shanxi and the Zhou Dynasty.
There are beautiful views even in winter. Don’t hesitate, this is a must-visit place in Taiyuan City.

ZHULIN HOU TAIYUAN,CHINA Jinci Temple|The best museum in Shanxi The Jinci Temple, located at the foot of Xuanweng Mountain in the southwest suburbs of Taiyuan, has a history of at least 1,500 years. The architecture of Jinci Temple is one of the few examples in China that retains the architecture of the previous dynasty and expanded it when necessary. With its layout surrounded by mountains and rivers, it can be said to be the oldest and most beautiful garden in China.

The earliest record of the Jinci Temple was found in the Tao of the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 466 or 472? or 527) . It is already quite impressive, and the ancestral hall, hall and flying beam are all ready. It can be seen that the history of the Jinci, even from the Northern Wei Dynasty, has a history of thousands of years.

Rich in cultural monuments. Archeology enthusiasts can enjoy a whole day here. The weight of history also makes people think about the present. However, it is recommended to avoid visiting during the holidays so that you can enjoy it quietly.

Mengshan Giant Buddha, also known as Xishan Giant Buddha, is a colossal carved statue located on a hillside. Originally built during the Northern Qi Dynasty, it stands at an impressive 68 meters high. The modern head of the Buddha has been replaced due to destruction at the end of the Yuan Dynasty. Accessing the site can be challenging due to ongoing road construction and limited transportation options.
We visited on 06 Dec 19 which is winter time. Very cold and low tourist period. Many food stalls were closed except 2 of them. We took the tourist bus up and a bit of climbing to reach the top where the big buddha is.
Martin Liang — Google review
The place is in massive road construction, have to use older route to the place. Suggest to use taxi (please use metered taxi not by using phone) or didi services to get there. Google map tends to hangs in the area. No bus goes to the area, and walking there requires a lot of energy. The place is beautiful and scenic, use different route to go up and down so you don't miss some places. Massive carved statues in the vicinity, beautiful.

(Translated by Google) The Mengshan Giant Buddha is also known as the Xishan Giant Buddha and is located in the northwest of Sidi Village in Jinsheng Township, Jinyuan District, Taiyuan. This 63-meter-tall sitting statue is only eight meters lower than the Leshan Giant Buddha in Sichuan Province and ten meters higher than the Buddhas of Bamyan in Afghanistan. Buddhas of Bamyan were believed to have been built between the third and seventh centuries. Historical records show that the construction of the Xishan Giant Buddha began in 551, 162 years earlier than that of the Leshan Giant Buddha. The Xishan Giant Buddha is the second largest giant Buddha in the world in terms of height and the oldest known large stone-carved Buddha in the world in terms of time. You can visit it for a small amount of money. The statue was discovered in 1980 and was found to be missing its head. From 2006 to 2008, people built a 12-meter-tall head for the statue. The Xishan Giant Buddha opened to the public in October 2008. Worth a visit.
