The Tiger Hill is a popular tourist spot in Darjeeling located at an altitude of about 8,442 feet above sea level. The hill is famous for its dramatic views of Mt. Everest and Kangchenjunga, as well as other peaks around the region. Visitors can enjoy the sunrise here from early morning until sunset, but be advised that it can be quite cold up at the hill so those who are not used to the cold should prepare themselves accordingly.
Superb place, need to go in early morning to see the sunrise. Just an amazing place. From the city this area is so far away.

The sunrise view that one can experience from here is beyond description...it can only be experienced and felt...n be mesmerized. Utter beautyl... beautiful Sunrays n the sky The enchanting view of Kanchenjunga...and then the magical hour ...when the rays hit the peak of Kanchenjunga... That was a truely magical moment. Definitely must visit!!! People start gathering here from mid night so that they can get themselves the best spot to experience this beauty. It gets tooo crowded as the sun is about to rise. Only if the place was well maintained ...it would have been very convenient and added more beauty to this experience. And yes do carry warm clothes as it will be freezing cold... We visited during winters and we almost froze watching that sun rise 😅 Definitely worth breaking your peaceful sleep to experience this magnificent view!

The sunrises here are particularly spectacular, and the trek to the top is well worth the effort. Overall, Tiger Hill is a great place to experience the natural beauty of the region and to get a taste of local culture. Highly recommend it.

On the 17th November morning, at 4 AM, we set out for Tiger Hills. The usually sleepy town of Darjeeling was surprisingly up & about at this unearthly hour with hundreds of cars heading the same way, so much so, that we actually encountered traffic snarl-ups at that time. The driver left us at a point from which we had to walk for about 5 minutes on a rather steep slope. We could have driven up further but then, extracting ourselves from the parking chaos would have been very difficult. There is a building to your right, as you approach the viewing point. This is an unfinished building - 4 stories - but the viewing balconies have been set up by local entrepreneurs in the first two levels, complete with plastic chairs rented out ₹ 50 per chair. It's a long wait so we availed of the chairs and took our places facing East. Now, remember, you are not going there to see ONLY the sunrise but ALSO the snow-capped peaks changing hues as the sun shows it's face. Therefore, you need to keep an eye to your left as well, the North, where the peaks are. Try and sit as close to the NE corner of the viewing 'gallery' as you can for the best of both views. In the attached photos I have tried to capture how the skies AND the mountains change colour with the rising sun but nothing can possibly replicate what one's eyes behold. Getting back is a nightmare. There are nearly 700-800 cars, a thousand odd pedestrians trying to reach their respective vehicles and all within a pretty narrow road with a fairly steep slope. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Very cold, very steep climb, rather poor infrastructure (for viewing) but Nature has made up for all man's lacunae!

It's one of the best sunrises view...It looks so magical when the colour of sky changes in layer by layer. In the peak tourist season lots of people gather to enjoy the view. At sunrise, the peaks of Kanchenjunga can be seen on a clear sky. We were lucky enough to have get crystal clear clear weather. Tiger Hill, located at an altitude of 2590 meters (8482 ft.)

You can witness the Kenchanjeungha from tiger hill when the first light hits. The view surely is heavenly. You would enjoy every moment when the sun rays get reflected at the Kenchanjeungha. Tiger hill is always over crowded. So it will be better if you reach the place very early like 4:30 am.

The best view in Tiger Hill in West Bengal is the one that shows the **sunrise over the Himalayan peaks** of Everest and Kanchenjunga. You can see the changing colors of the sky and the mountains as the sun rays hit them. It is a mesmerizing sight that attracts many tourists and photographers. However, to enjoy this view, you need to reach Tiger Hill very early in the morning, preferably before 4:30 am, as it gets crowded and foggy later. If you want to avoid the crowd and the cold, you can also visit Tiger Hill in the evening, when you can see the **sunset over the valley** and the town of Darjeeling. You can also enjoy a walk through the bamboo and pine forest on your way to Tiger Hill. The best time to visit Tiger Hill depends on the weather condition and your preference. If you want to see the **snow-covered mountains** in their full glory, then the period from **mid-October to December** would be ideal. However, if you want to avoid the cold and enjoy a clear sky, then the period from **March to May** would be better⁴⁵. January and February are mostly foggy and have less visibility⁴. You should also plan to visit Tiger Hill early in the morning, preferably before sunrise, to catch the spectacular view of the sun rays hitting the peaks of Everest and Kanchenjunga. You might need to book a jeep or a taxi in advance to reach there on time, as it is a popular tourist attraction.

Tiger Hill in Darjeeling offers a captivating sunrise experience that is simply breathtaking. Rising early in the morning to witness the first rays of the sun painting the snow-capped peaks of Kanchenjunga at around 5:30 AM is a truly mesmerizing sight. The panoramic view of the Himalayas from the hilltop is awe-inspiring and worth every moment of the journey. The serene and tranquil ambiance adds to the magic of the experience. The trip to Tiger Hill was well-organized, and the local guides provided insightful information about the region. Tiger hill is famous for its sunrise view, as on your right-hand side there is sunrise hue is coming up in the sky and its first rays touch Kanchenjunga mountain. On the left side, it gives different shades in the sky. Very mesmerizing view as one side is golden above the horizon and below Darjeeling still in dark with glittering night lights. But to get this experience one has to leave his bed very early in the morning and lucky enough to have to get crystal clear weather. The view of the mighty Kanchenjunga from here is mesmerizing. The road to this point is such delight. The dense forest leading to the observatory is so beautiful and peaceful, it's a must-visit. People generally say that the best time to visit here is before sunrise. The whole experience of visiting Tiger Hill is very special. Away from the crowd, you actually feel the essence of the forest. The temples on the way to the observatory are very very calm and provide a nice spiritual experience. Overall, a must-visit place on a visit to Darjeeling. To actually feel the calm prevailing the place, do visit it in the day hours rather than the sunrise.

Loved the place. The sunrise observatory point. It's the main view point in Darjeeling to see the Kanchenjunga. Was bit crowded but still enjoyed the most. Went there at 4:40 am to enjoy one of the most breathtaking scenes of my life. Witnessed the beautiful sunrise of Darjeeling and the greatness of the mighty Kanchenjunga. If you travel to Darjeeling and don’t visit there then it should be a punishable crime. Lol. But if you are in luck and the clouds don't mess things up then you may see the actual beauty of Darjeeling and The Kanchenjunga. Also there are some local shops there to buy shawls, sweater and souvenirs. You may enjoy the view with some coffee too. Will visit again there surely.

A beautiful sunrise and breathtaking views of sunlight reflecting off Kanchenjunga make this spot truly special. It's the only place in Darjeeling I know of where you can catch a glimpse of Mount Everest on a clear day. The place was so crowded though even on a weekday.

Important pointers: If you are an non local, then you are mostly an tourist over here. So if possible follow below points if this place is in your travel checklist. Tour operator/ Cab driver will call and inform you to be ready around 4 am. So you can get ready by 4am, ask the cab driver to take you directly to the top parking space and wait in the cab till 6am or so do checkout the surrounding once the it’s start getting sun rise. Do carry an blanket along with you. It’s too cold out there. No need to worry for the spot. You will be able to take pics clearly from the place. If though it is crowded, don’t worry you will find some space. Don’t forget to carry extra warm cloths. It’s extremely cold in the early morning. If you sensitive toward cold, please follow this. The beauty of this place makes it the king of all sites in Darjeeling. A huge crowd gather here just to witness a five minute sun rise and it will make your visit to Darjeeling worthy. The sunrise time may vary from season to season but the common thing is rising sun focusing it's rays on the Kanchenjunga hills just opposite to it. After getting sun rays, the snow on the hills glitter into golden colour and that is the perfect moment to capture for a unforgettable memory. The best time to visit this place is during winter season. There is a good sitting arrangement but in order to get a perfect site seeing you need to come to this place before 2 hours of sunrise. Many vendors are available here selling refreshing items at your seat.

A breathtaking sunrise experience at Tiger Hill, Darjeeling Tiger Hill, perched atop Darjeeling, is not just a viewpoint; it's an experience. As the first rays of dawn paint the majestic peaks of Mt. Everest and Kangchenjunga in hues of gold and orange, you'll witness a spectacle that will leave you speechless. The sight of the snow-capped Himalayas emerging from the clouds, casting their shadows on the valleys below, is a memory that will stay with you forever. More than just a sunrise: While the sunrise is undoubtedly the main draw, Tiger Hill offers much more. The panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys are stunning, and the cool morning air is invigorating. You can also take a walk along the nature trails or visit the nearby Ghoom Monastery. Tips for your visit: Arrive early! The crowds can get quite large, especially during peak season. Dress warmly, as the temperature can drop significantly before sunrise. Overall, Tiger Hill is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Darjeeling. It's an experience that you won't forget!

A must-visit place in Darjeeling. You will get an amazing view of the mountain Kanchenjunga and a glimpse of Mt. Everest. The drive from Darjeeling would approximately take an hour. Ensure to reach the spot by 5 AM to get parking and grab the best place for a serene view of the sunrise. If there is a delay in reaching the spot, it will be a hassle to find the parking, and you will have to park the vehicle 500 meters away from the view point. You will have to take a stroll to reach the view point, as the walk is steep. Do not forget to carry your winter gear.

Visitors can savor the colonial ambiance while enjoying a pink gin and tonic, explore tea factories, discover museums and zoos, witness the breathtaking Himalayan sunrise, or meander through botanical gardens. The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is a must-visit attraction in Darjeeling.
Excellent selection of animals - most of which you won't find at normal zoos in India. In addition, the way they have constructed their enclosures is wonderful - for example, some bird enclosures have clear glass walls through which you can see the bird as if it were right in front of you and not behind an enclosure. Others have their viewing path upwards and the enclosures downwards so you can look at the animals without a fence in the way. Very well planned and diligently maintained.

A must visit on your next trip to Darjeeling, the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoo in Darj is home to some of the best and rarest of animals and birds when it comes to seeing Himalayan wildlife in a controlled environment. Do not miss the elusive (but well worth your patience) red panda and the majestic black panther. If lucky, you can also see the snow leopard and white tiger. Please note that this zoo requires a decent amount of uphill and downhill walking and will take around 2 hours or more to enjoy properly. A Wildlife Wonderland: Himalayan Zoological Park Darjeeling Nestled in the enchanting hills of Darjeeling, the Himalayan Zoological Park is a captivating destination for nature enthusiasts. Its diverse collection of Himalayan fauna, including majestic tigers and adorable red pandas, is truly remarkable. The park's commitment to conservation and its stunning mountain vistas add to the overall experience. Though the provision of more detailed information boards would enhance the educational aspect, the park's well-maintained trails, knowledgeable staff, and unforgettable opportunities, like hand-feeding red pandas, make it a must-visit attraction. Himalayan Zoological Park stands as a wildlife wonderland, deserving its four-star rating.

The museum is full of informative and interesting facts , what does it not have!

The park itself is fine. Animals are quite visible - tiger, leopard, bear and red panda are highlights. One can enjoy a couple of hours easily. Why not 5 stars? There are very few places to sit - it becomes as issue because the terrain is hilly and chikdren/elders will get tired. There are very few sheltered places to wait - it was raining on the day of our visit and there is just no option to wait at a shelter.

Before visiting any place, I conduct thorough research. However, due to my busy schedule, I didn't have enough time to explore this time. As an unexpected surprise, I found out in the morning that our group of 17 members was going to visit the zoo. Although I am not particularly fond of zoos, I found myself drawn to Padmaja Naidu Zoo. Its location amidst the breathtaking hills of Darjeeling creates a captivating backdrop, providing both locals and tourists with a memorable wildlife experience. I was impressed by the impeccable cleanliness and well-maintained surroundings of the zoo. The diverse range of wildlife on display was truly remarkable. I felt a sense of thrill and excitement as I encountered rare and endangered species such as the red panda, snow leopard, Himalayan wolf, and Siberian tiger. The animal enclosures were spacious and thoughtfully designed, allowing the animals to roam freely and ensuring their well-being. Within the premises of the zoo, I spent a significant amount of time in front of the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) and captured numerous photographs. The institute offers a fascinating insight into the world of mountaineering and pays tribute to the legendary Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, who conquered Mount Everest alongside Sir Edmund Hillary. The museum located at the top of the institute showcases a remarkable collection of artifacts, photographs, and exhibits, providing a comprehensive understanding of the history and challenges of mountaineering. Although photography was not allowed inside the museum, I thoroughly enjoyed their exhibits, particularly the preserved original specimen of a crocodile. Furthermore, the zoo provided clean restroom facilities, well-maintained walkways, easily accessible drinking water, and conveniently located seating areas throughout the premises. Additionally, there were various activities available for visitors to enjoy. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a wildlife lover, or simply seeking a serene escape, I highly recommend visiting this exceptional zoo. It offers a unique and enriching experience that will leave a lasting impression.

On the morning of my return from Darjeeling, I went to this museum after breakfast. After entering, I first got to know about the various animals living around the Himalayan glaciers and their lifestyle. The Royal Bengal Tiger is also there. Then I went to Padmaja Naidu Museum. The tomb of Padmaja Nairu is in front of the museum. Before entering inside, I saw the notice that the use of cameras is prohibited, so I could not take pictures inside. But I saw everything very well. There how a mountaineer climbs with different equipment and how much hardships and sacrifices are made. The equipment used by famous mountaineers is preserved there. Moreover, the carcasses of various species of animals from the Indian subcontinent have been preserved that look almost exactly like those animals. It goes without saying that it is a good place to visit and learn.

Absolutely gorgeous. It's very green and scenic but the number of animals is very few. What I really like about this place is that they have not caged any animals and have tried to keep them close to their natural habitat. It is more like a long walk through a jungle. Among the few options, they have the rare Royal Bengal tiger & Black Panther, which is very impressive however you might have to wait at times to catch a full view of this wild cat. Inside the zoo, there is a separate section for Museum & snaks counter.

Zoo is average in terms of animals but Red panda is one of the highlights of the zoo. Museums are the best part apart from Red panda. One can spend a whole day knowing about different kind of species in the museum where real specimens are preserved for various creatures. Same is the case with mountaineering museum.

A tiny yet a well maintained zoological park. You can purchase the tickets at the entry gate. The cost of the ticket is approximately 180 Rupees. There are about 30 to 40 Wild animals. You can cover the entire zoo in 2 to 3 hours. Please be informed that the walkway is steep. Fortunate to have seen Panda in the Berlin zoo and now the Red panda. The main attraction for me was the Panther, Snow Leopard and the near view of the Tiger.

The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute is located here. This zoo is all time favourite to both the kids and the adults. As entry fees Rs. 110 is allotted per head. The kids upto 5 years are allowed to enter at free of cost. For foreigners the entry ticket costs Rs. 180 per head. The area is huge and vivid. All kinds of rules and regulations are maintained properly here. This place is an attractive point to the tourists all times. I really recommend this place to visit.

The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute provides a number of courses for aspiring mountaineers, including training to equip them for the challenges of scaling some of the world's highest peaks. This institute is situated in a beautiful location, and its scenic backdrop makes it one of the most popular attractions in Darjeeling.
I will absolutely recommend this place for every tourist who visits Darjeeling. This place gives you a different energy that inspires you to be great. They have place for rock climbing, wall climbing, zip lining for everyone. The mountaineering institution and zoological garden are just in the same place. Definitely visit the museum which is totally worthwhile. Get to know many information about mountaineers, their journeys and equipments and so on.

Good place to take out. The museum has many valuable assets. Many extinct animals have different skin and body parts that will surprise you. You will see various rich animals. Ticket price is one hundred rupees per person. Red pandas can be seen, snow leopards can also be seen.

No visit to Darjeeling can be complete without a visit to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. Importantly it is in the same entrance to the Zoo and therefore its 2 birds with one stone. Nevertheless, it would be smart to take out at least a couple of hours to cover this place. About 1 hour 15 mins to buy tickets and experience and also learn a bit of Wall climbing, Rock climbing, zip climbing etc. The remaining 45 mins to cover the beautiful museum. Well for tourists who absolutely hate a museum they can also spend some time as it provides insights of the mountaineering gears, various expeditions taken by this institute and terrains of the Himalaya shown in amazing details. There is also a memorial of Padma Bhushan Tenzing Norgay that should not be missed out. I would also recommend the Mountaineering and Adventure film show that costs Rs30/- per person. The show timings are 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM and 4 PM. There is also a very nice Souvenir shop in front of the Museum and it has fantastic collections to take back home. Do give it a try too

The place is located inside the same campus of the Zoo cum Botanical Garden. It is one of the most interesting place to visit if you are a hiking and mountaineering endeavour. The place is very beautiful located amidst the natural beauty of Darjeeling hills. There is show facilities for tourists regarding mountaineering stories. But if you are not that interested in those activities, then its of no use visiting here. But You will definitely love the natural beauty & view around here. Thank You!

Very interesting and informative. The evolution of mountaineering in the Himalayas. Besides that it is also a natural history museum. It could do with some support of a good taxidermist, though.

This place is a must visit, if you are staying in darjeeling. The zoo is well kept and has many different animals, including of course the red panda. The mountaineering museum is also definitely worth a visit. I especially liked the comparison they showed between different eras of climbing and how the gear progressed.

It was interesting seeing all the climbing gear used over the years; I also enjoyed seeing a lot of mountaineering artifacts they've collected. Unfortunately several of the exhibits are broken. I also found many spelling mistakes and incorrect facts in the material; they really should get a professional to proof read and fact check their exhibits before their put them on display for the public.

A place where u can learn mountaineering... For tourists, they have a museum where u can experience all kinds of equipment used by Mountaineers during their expectations... Except that Dress & equipment used by Tenzing Norge and many famous mountaineers, are preserved here.. U can learn the location of each & every important peak and rivers of the Himalayas from a life size model.. The museum has its own cafeteria and souvenir shop here... Recently wall climbing, zip line and many more activities also started here... As it is situated inside Padmaja Nehru Zoo, ticket price is included in the main ticket & photography is strictly prohibited inside the museum building...

The trip entails a long walk. The animals in the zoo looked sad and drowsy. You can get mementos and warm clothings from the nearby shops. Towards the end of the road there is a cafe worth its coffee.

Situated inside the Darjeeling zoo this place is difficult to find. Though a large amount of people visit the zoo a limited population visits this institute and the museum inside it. Mountaineering enthusiasts and history buffs would love this place. The institute offers various courses on mountaineering and details can be obtained from their website. The museum houses the original equipments used by Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hilary during the first ever ascent of the mount Everest. It also has iconic pictures and can educate one on the evolution of mountaineering equipments.

The garden Happy Valley Tea Estate is an expansive 450-acre estate in the hills of Darjeeling, India that grows some of the finest teas in the world. The plantation was founded in 1854 and employs over 1500 workers who produce a variety of different teas. On guided tours, visitors can see the processing of tea leaves and learn about the history and production of this popular beverage.
Another scenic and experiencing place in Darjeeling. Happy valley tea estate is one of the biggest tea gardens of Darjeeling. When I visited there, the tea factory was closed due to off season and it probably starts after April. You can visit the tea garden via cab or taxi, we took a shortcut to reach their by walking only. The greenery is scenic for some beautiful pics.

Happy valley tea estate is situated in the lower level of the city and will take approximately 2 hours from the city to go, finish the tour and come back. They had tea process tour, tea tasting and purchase section, which took about 30 mins in total. the factory incharge are very courteous and explained the tea process very nicely( worth visiting for kids and adults) and also the tea tasting gives an idea of their product- whether one wants to buy or not. Established in 1854 Happy Valley tea estate is Darjeeling’s second oldest tea estate . A lovely tea garden with lovely view of the garden as well as town. Happy Valley Tea Garden is a renowned tea estate nestled in the picturesque hills of Darjeeling. It is one of the oldest and most famous tea gardens in the region, known for producing high-quality Darjeeling tea. Spread over vast acres of lush greenery, Happy Valley Tea Garden is a sight to behold. The neatly manicured rows of tea bushes create a visually captivating landscape. The tea plants, predominantly the Camellia sinensis variety, are meticulously tended to by skilled workers who carefully pluck the tea leaves by hand, ensuring the finest quality. Exploring the garden gave me a chance to witness the tea-making tradition and gain an appreciation for the dedication and craftsmanship involved. It offers a serene and tranquil environment, making it an ideal place for leisurely walks or enjoying a picnic amidst nature's beauty. The tea estate is often enveloped in mist, creating a mystical ambiance that further enhances the experience. You can also rent the traditional tea plucking outfits for 100 rupees which serves as a great costume for pictures.

The Darjeeling tea industry it’s in the doldrums. Some estates treat their workers appallingly, and the government neglects the road infrastructure. During winter, there is very little activity on the tea Estates, but at least Happy Valley put on a tea tasting . They should train their staff, too, explain more about their operation, even if it is not working . In 2024, there is a drought looming and So tea production will likely decline . If you love Darjeeling tea, I suggest you buy some before becomes unavailable.

One of the most pleasant and refreshing places to visit in Darjeeling. Happy Valley is just a 20-30 minute walk from Mall Road, or from the main taxi stand. You can even get taxis until there as it won't cost you too much. The tea gardens are beautiful to look at and have a gentle soothing aroma too. The factory has a guided tour for just ₹100, the guide takes you through the entire process of making tea from tea leaves with a testing of 6 different varieties in the end. If you go during spring or autumn, when the harvesting is in process, you will get to see the machines at work during the tour too. Don't forget to take a stroll around the tea gardens through the narrow foot trails too! The cafe outside has a very polite host and some nice snacks you can have.

It is also known as Chitrakut bazaar. As you park your car from no.15 parking via steps you reach the entrance of the valley. Overlooking the mountains for a second your breathe quickens crossing the thought- wow. Here you should remember one thing, steps are too steep too slippery so every step you should watch where you are laying your feet. There are corners facing the valley, there standing you get a better picture of the whole place. Green step cut tea leaves, mountains and houses in between. In between mist crosses and clears. A long walk on the path laid towards the end of the valley, gives you breath taking views. There are lot of eateries plus people giving local costumes to wear for rent. The costume where you hold a basket for collecting teas is very famous. A great spot filled with best lush greenery. As you come out, there are small shops selling tea, tea powder and local fruits plus momos. A place for nature lovers where I feel you could never get this much if beauty anywhere.

We went to the happy valley tea estate expecting to get lovely tea at prices lower than the market. But no. The prices were equally high. The employees were sweet and they gave us a nice tour. They charge an entry fee of Rs 100 which is not adjusted against the purchases and also it has to be in cash. Even the tea they sell, they expect cash. Though they took card and didn’t give receipt. The place and the factory, however, is nice and a change from the city crowd.

Can spend some time in the tea estate. There is shop with charge 100 per cloth and for other accessories. Also at the entrance there are number of shops for tea. You can drink some teas and purchase tea powder. Be alert they will provide good quality leave for tea to drink and at the time of purchase they provide the low quality one .

We visited this place as part of our tour itinerary. Must visit if you are visiting Darjeeling. It is a tea-making factory where specimens of old equipments used for making tea are well preserved. It also acts as a retail outlet where you can purchase different varieties of tea e.g. white tea, green tea, black tea, etc. The staff explained to us the entire process of tea making in a very crisp & lucid manner. But when we visited the place all the workers had gone for lunch & we were unable to see the actual process.

It is Darjeeling’s second oldest tea estate. Situated around 3 km north of town, below Hill Cart Road, accessible via Lochnager Road from Chowk Bazaar, this tea estate is the closest tea estate to Darjeeling town, and tourists often visit the garden. They are expert in orthodox tea, you can test different type of tea in there tea boutique. Ticket price to watch tea boutique and factory is Rs 100, it will open at 9 a.m. If you want you can walk down to see the tea estate properly, at the end of road there is last village, only 17 family live there.

We went there mid March before the first harvest of the season started, so no production yet. We did a small tour for only INR 100 per person of the building and went around the tea plantation afterwards. The staff was nice and we had a small tasting afterwards. The plantation was unfortunaly full of garbage everywhere you go, so not really serene.

First of all, Kunga Restaurant is a little-known gem which specialises in authentic Tibetan cuisine. The interior of the eatery is quaint and cozy, perfect for enjoying a private dining experience. The food here is absolutely scrumptious, and it's definitely worth checking out if you're craving some mouth-watering Tibetan fare!
A must visit food joint in Darjeeling. Serves excellent Tibetan food. No complain in quality and quantity. Everything is top notch. Place is a bit small and try to visit it before 7pm.The place shuts down at 7pm.prefer the breakfast time to avoid rush.
nivedita jha — Google review
Let me just begin with the quantity that this place serves- IT IS A LOT😄. So if you plan to visit with your boyfriend or girlfriend or spouse kindly keep in mind the portion that this place offers. Secondly its best you take all your folks to this place as the more the merrier as you can order a variety of food items offered from the menu. Now coming to food taste- its filling for sure but you can easily overeat at such a place. We had to suffer as we ordered more than we could devour and was literally stopped by the server. Prices are pocket friendly and quantity is GREAT. Over all a must visit for all interested Tibetan food lovers.

Located beside Dekevas, this is also a famous place for Tibetan food in Darjeeling. They have more seating space. Food was good, standout dish was the Chicken Cheese Momos, definitely a different experience for momos lovers.

It's probably the most crowded resturant in Darjeeling.Need to wait for getting a sit..But worth visiting ...loved all items..momos are a must try here I have ordered chicken cheese momos , chicken rice ,garlic chicken and sweet and sour chicken...Not oily and very tasty. Highly recommended.

As One of the most iconic fooding places in Darjeeling, Kunga bears the rich tradition of Tibetan & Nepalese food. From the start of the menu to the end, it's gobsmacking & mouthwatering to the best. However the place has a serious space crunch, so you should prepare yourself to stand for a long que. I would recommend everything from that age-old menu but pork & beef dishes are the best. Be aware, the red chilli sauce is super spicy🌶!
SOUPTIK BISWAS — Google review
One of the famous restaurant in Darjeeling. Taste of the food is really good. And nothing to say about the quantity, one portion can be shared by 2-3 person according to individual capacity. Variety of food option is there. Service is also very good. But 1 problem that everyone might face there is that, the place is very small. That's why you can feel a rush hours in that place and there is also a wait line to enter. Takeaway also available but dine in is recommended from me. Overall ratings:- 1. Food- 10/10 2. Quantity- 10/10 3. Price- 9/10 4. Service & Behaviour- 10/10 5. Ambience- 7/10

Kunga is without any doubt the best restaurant in town. This place serves amazing Chinese and local foods. The place is open from 10am to 6pm, and accept only CASH. Situated few yards from Keventer's, this is one small eatery with limited seats and one needs to wait for atleast 20-30 mins before entering here. We ordered atleast 20mins before entering while we sat outside and after entering they gave us the food almost after 10-15 mins. But, OMG, what an amazing food that was!! 😍 We ordered chicken momo, pork fried rice, chili pork, chicken garlic and chicken thentuk. IT was undoubtedly the best momo and fried rice that I had ever tried. Other items were equally amazing. The price is very less compared to the taste and quality. In a place full of Keventer's, Glenary's and what not, this is one hidden gem that has different level of food. It is for sure a 200% try, if someone is coming to Darjeeling. Don't even try to miss it for anything.

I found it overated, might be because of the food we ordered, but it was just my opinion. Ordered pork glass noodles and veg spring rolls. Both felt just average, might be it was their authentic taste. But for me it was just an average one. This is a tiny conjusted place. Also there will be waiting time of minimum 20 mins.

Best restaurant in Darjeeling. All the momos/dumplings and wanton soups are great. Amazingly respectful system of owner, employees and customers: they stop from 1:30 to 2:30 so the staff can eat; meanwhile customers wait patiently outside with huge smiles waiting for the open. Huge respect.

It’s a small restaurant and congested and the seating arrangement is not appropriate for having good food and spending quality times as it is a tourist spot. Honestly speaking, I have found this place heavily OVER-RATED. The waiting line🚶🏼‍♂️🚶🏼‍♂️is horrific, as well as their 'ventilation' system. Waited almost 30 minutes 🕡to get in. The interior was very basic, and there is a very strong, spicy-oily smell for the weak exhaust system. Now, let's talk about their foods. Tried 'Chicken Steam Momos🥟' and 'Chicken Thukpa🍜'. In fact, they didn't know about their foods availability while taking orders.🙄 The momos were really good, but not justified the price tag of 270+ applicable GST👎🏻.(10 pieces) The Thukpa was like okay-okay for us and some other customers.😕 Frankly speaking, I don't have any past ideas or old glories about them. Every foods quality and taste is purely 'subjective' to their subjects. Hence, I'm not starting any debate(s) about them. It's solely 'MY OPINION'.✅ Not recommending at all... Scored 6/10 in my test.

A small restaurant with amazing food. It's a small place, accomodating 24 around people at once. You may have to wait in line so keep a lot of time in hand while while visiting. We ordered, chicken cheese momo (had big sized 10 pc of momos with delicious taste), american chop suey (this is my second time having this dish in my life and I must say this one was very tasty) and chicken thukpa (they gave 2 bowls and said they divided one serving into 2). Chicken cheese momo steamed is a must try. Beware that their portion is a lot.

Kunga Restaurant in Darjeeling is truly a hidden gem, offering an authentic taste of Tibetan cuisine. The chicken cheese steamed momos are an absolute delight - heavenly goodness encapsulated in every bite. The flavors are beyond compare, making it difficult to remember any other momo experience after trying these. Beyond the momos, their noodles, thukpa, and pork items are equally impressive, boasting an awesome taste that lingers on the palate. The authenticity and quality of the Tibetan foods served here truly make it a must-visit spot.

Kunga is the one stop destination for authentic Tibetan delicacy.the restaurant is small and cozy. The menu is vast starting from shakes to thukpa to rice noodles. My personal favourite is chicken thukpa, pork chilli, chicken fried rice. The restaurant is equally popular among locals. Both dine in and take away facilities are available. As the restaurant is very popular during the tourist season there used to be a long waiting queue outside the restaurant .

This family-owned restaurant serves delicious, homemade Nepali food in a small space. It is located near Chowrasta Mall and has been in business for over 13 years. The food is prepared with love, health and care.
One of the loveliest and filling breakfasts we’ve had! Their hash brown and hot chocolate is legendary!! It’s a wife and husband partnership and how cool are they - been successful running the little kitchen for 25 years now, we’re told! #Darjeeling #Hashbrown #Pancake #HotChocolate

A lesser known gem tucked away in the bylanes of Darjeeling. It's humble owners, prepare the food themselves and serves with love and care. Their breakfast is a must have. They specialise in Hashbrowns and Pancakes - and their coffees are also believed to be amazing (can't share my experience of their coffee since I don't drink coffee!). What more, the cheese they use are local Nepali Cheese which makes their servings very unique. Please note that they don't serve sausages and salami or aloo parathas and kachoris. But their eggs come in fried, scrambled and omlette varieties. This kitchen is a very different one, so have a very different experience in a special place in Darjeeling.

A lovely tucked away place with a very homely feel. We ordered the set breakfast and pancakes with banana honey and nuts. The pancake was very thick (as are all pancakes I have tried so far in Darjeeling) but they were soft and fluffy. I personally preferred the set breakfast. The brown bread was really nice quality and the tomatoes were cooked to perfection. The eggs lovely and not over cooked. Would come again for the savoury breakfast. Hot chocolate was nice but the ginger lemon honey was very strong too much ginger could not finish. Lovely couple running the place. Feels like your family.

Good food (home styled english breakfast) ofcourse you can’t expect the breakfast to be completely English style, but most importantly the taste is very good. The owner is very sweet. We ordered pan cakes and English breakfast, both were nice (home styled cooking)

Best place ever to have an English Breakfast. In this world of restaurants, where people served you frozen curries and lentils cooked 2 days ago, here you get fresh food. The chef makes the order one at a time in sequence of order and though you wait for your turn, the outcome is worth it. Wonderful tasty food.

I have ordered pan cake, hash brown, toast, cheese omelette.. hash brown platter is divine.. specially cheese omelette. But i didn't like pan cake. It is not yummy at all.

Hidden gem in Darjeeling. The breakfast platter was freshly made and so fulfilling. Hashbrown was topnotch and tomatoes was too juicy. Best one I ever had so far. Instead of Kaventer's we went there for 2days. No line ,no hustle bustle, such a calm and peaceful little place to have your morning Chai and hot breakfats.

The best breakfast in Darjeeling. Run by a lovely couple who make it feel like you’re having breakfast at home. So warm and welcoming. We went back every morning. The set breakfast and porridge were great and they catered for slight changes to the menu items. Highly recommended!

We ate there on last Friday. Tried the famous hash with grilled tomatoes, eggs and cheese. The grilled tomatoes were excellent and also the cheese. That day Sonam took our order, she is such a nice person. And on desert we ordered pancake with honey which was quite okay to me.

One of the best breakfast place is Darjeeling. This is situated at a walking distance from Mall road, just opposite Tom and Jerry Cafe. This place doesn't serve meat, but eggs. The shop is managed by one couple, who are pretty great with service as well as communications. They have the amazing toast, fried eggs, Nepalese cheese, hasbrowns, pan cakes and most importantly amazing filter coffee. Only thing is they don't have any meat items when we visited last time. However the food here is far better than other bigger names in Darjeeling. It's a must must try. One wont be disappointed for sure.
Aditi Roy — Google review
It's quite a hassle to navigate to the restaurant since it's located on a narrow and steep alley. We had read so many praises about this joint on Google Maps that we took the effort to travel here. The place is managed by a wife-husband duo. Both of them are quite wholesome and welcoming. The items ordered are made fresh from scratch, so the waiting time is longer than most other restaurants. We ordered hash browns, fried eggs, cheese omelette, scrambled eggs, and a pancake with banana and honey. The hash brown was quite crispy and tasty. Fried eggs, omelette, and scrambled eggs were as expected. The pancake was huge, with generous amounts of sliced bananas and honey on top. It was extremely soft, and tasted very nice! Probably one of the best pancakes I've ever had. The pocket pinch was economical. The lady (who is also the chef) took time to sit and chat with us, since it was raining that day and she didn't have many customers to serve yet. The overall experience was great. Highly recommended!

Delicious food and the lady over there was so polite. I will highly recommend to have breakfast from Sonam's Kitchen. Fresh food and tasty.

Bakery
Glenary's is a quaint, vintage-themed restaurant that served up some yummy Indian and Chinese dishes with beautiful city views. They also have a bakery and cafe side, which is great for people who love to get their hands on some delicious cakes! The service is always super polite here and they offer some of the best panoramic views in town!
The restaurant has become an heritage landmark of Darjeeling, located at heart of Mall road. It exists since the British colonial days, the ambience gives you a total European vibes along with the majestic view of the mountains. Food is little on the higher side, but quantity & quality both are good, it's consider heaven for bakery items. If you don't like waiting, then you have to reach little early to avoid the queue and rush. Even though it's always crowded, the service was quick and prompt. If you are in Darjeeling it's a must visit.

One the best places in Darjeeling to enjoy a good meal. It was opened in 1885, making it the oldest eatery I have been to. And yup, it has maintained it's authenticity really well. The ambience is the best I'd say, they have multiple options for seating in the restaurant area. The food quality is also good, same for the quantity. The prices are high but it's justified for such a place. We had ordered a Chicken Chowmein, Chicken Fried Rice, Mushroom Chicken and Chicken with Sliced Vegetables. (Pictures attached) The bakery is also fantastic. I've been there before, when I visited Darjeeling few years back. If you need cakes, muffins, pastries, cookies etc in the town, this is the place you need to be. The items are fresh and well priced. Note: There is also a bar, but I am not old enough to be there, so I won't comment.
Abhiroop Sarkar — Google review
Update on second visit: Regrettably, my second visit to Glenary's was a stark contrast to the first. This time, we ventured into the restaurant section, and what we found was far from appetizing. Hygiene was the first red flag. Table sauces looked as if they hadn't been touched in years, and it didn't end there. The booklet that housed the bill had unsightly stains, as did the menus. I don't even want to get started on the lampshades; they were blanketed in what seemed like years of dust. Service? Only passable. To add insult to injury, they tried to bill us for a bottle of water we didn't order or drink. It's a shame, really, because you're paying premium prices for an experience that's anything but. The place was generally filthy, and it's safe to say I won't be making a third visit. A complete letdown. Review from 1st visit: This place has a lot of reputation and certainly is a nice place to sit and have brunch or breakfast. It has become a tourist attraction in itself. However, I have to confess that the pastries were not as good as I expected them to be, hence the 3 star rating.

View and vibe is amazing. For vegetarians very limited menu. We ordered veg Pizza bread was too good .. veggies quality was hood.. just because of pizza sauce being too less.. taste of pizza was too dry and bland..so if u are vegetarian and going for view , vibe order chocolate shake... or some other beverage.. brownie has egg. Must visit for view and vibe.. bread is too good.

Iconic place of Darjeeling. Food is decent, though nothing special. The bakery items are far better than other food items. Cakes, pastries, muffins are really good. It also has a good number of tea options. I really enjoyed the evening time snacks with tea here. Can be a bit too pricey as well!

A must-visit place in Darjeeling that has been famous for years. We were able to find a seat without a queue, and most alcoholic beverages and soft drinks are available. The outdoor ambience is also very pleasant. Although the prices are a little bit high, it's very peaceful and not crowded.

If you are in Darjeeling must visit here. Not just for food but for the vibes this place has. Have visited twice here. Loved it both the times. Bit on the higher price, but the it is worth the pay. Do try their bakery product. They have live orchestra on top floor where dinner/lunch is severed. Also try to seat near gallery area you will be Abel to see the best view from it. They have bar on the ground floor, first floor bakery and 2nd floor for main course dinner. You will love this place Ambience is awesome. Must try as tourist

This has turned out to be a heritage landmark of Darjeeling more than just a food joint. The woody ambiance gives you the European vibes and along with thrilling views of the hilly town. Food & drinks are a bit costly as compared to the quality and service. Liked the breads and bakery items though. But quantity wise, it is sufficient. Be sure to visit at early evening (6 pm) to avoid the crowd and waiting.

You can get here best bakery products. I had Japanese cheesecake which was super delicious and is highly recommended. The place is usually busy most of the time . You can capture good pics of yours as it is a photogenic place. Besides bakery products , main course and snacks are also available here . Also the price of bakery products are reasonable and they are freshly baked. If you ever go to Darjeeling have some bakery products here as your trip will be more memorable.

the bakery is nothing worth the hype. I have had better muffins at many places. though i liked the system of using a basket and picking up my food myself. we also tried the restaurant at night because it remains open till late night but the food was not up to the markThe ambience is lovely no doubt. the staff is very helpful. just visit it for once and I'm not visiting again for sure.

This place is over hyped. Visited this place for breakfast. The veg pizza was too heavy. The over sized sandwich was ok. The fresh cream pineapple pastry was tasty but the cream was too much. This place sells different baked items which are packed and arranged in the front portion of the place. If you go further inside, there are chairs and tables and there is also a balcony to enjoy the exotic view of the hills. The ambience is not so extravagant.

Most of the people know this place. It is very old and famous bakery in Darjeeling. The bakery things are really good in taste. It's perfect for enjoying live music and relaxing. The cafe is cozy with a quiet atmosphere and an open sky deck. Can't wait to come back here again and again. The bakery items are delicious.

Stars only for bakery Item and bakery setup. View wise inside sitting place does not provide any view. But each and every food is delicious. Do visit here if you are a foodie. Each item has its authenticity maintained. Do try blueberry cheese cake and thank later

My favourite places to eat there are their cake shop and their brunch. This brand is synonymous with outstanding Darjeeling. So without further ado, check out their bakery and snack options. They have a large, spacious restaurant that is quite clean. The food is served in a timely manner and has an excellent flavour. The cost didn't seem excessive to me.🍛🍜🙏

You cannot miss this place if you are visiting Darjeeling. I went to no other cafe and only kept visiting them for all the days I was there. Their services, their food, their ambience and view is top notch. They have a bar, a dining area and a bakery area ( where you can sit and eat as well) Queues start up as early as 8.30 in the morning, if you wanna enjoy a scrumptious breakfast reach by 8-8:10 to find no queues and enjoy their English breakfast. Late evenings are extremely busy.

Best place for Baked food in Darjeeling. Hot Puffs here is a treat for your mouth. Place is crowded in the evening as it is very popular. Could enjoy the snacks in a calm ambience if you could reach one or 2hrs early for the evening coffee. The place also have a dining area which offers dinner and cocktails, which is very crowded and one could dine in if you have the patience to wait. Ps: It's another cafe in Darjeeling which offers a well kept washroom, after Cafe House Darjeeling:)

Breakfast restaurant
Keventers is a popular breakfast restaurant located in Darjeeling which serves traditional English breakfast items like sandwiches, chicken salami &meat loafs, and pork sausages with eggs. The restaurant is frequented by locals and tourists alike who come to try out the famous English breakfast.
This is one of the iconic restaurant cum Coffee shop in Darjeeling.. everyone visiting Darjeeling try to visit this place once.. This place has a beautiful ambience with Kanchenjunga at the backdrop and it looks Majestic.. in clear sky.. When Kanchenjunga massif is visible in full.. The service is very good and most of the time there is queue one has to wait to get their turn. Hot chocolate is most favorite and famous items in this restaurant other than this non veg items also available here and all items served is delicious , one must try Darjeeling tea here.. The place closes early in the evening, so it's most preferable for breakfast, brunch or evening snacks. Absolutely wonderful..The quantity & quality is excellent.. The Darjeeling tea being served here is one of the best first flush tea.. The flavor and aroma of the tea is unbelievable. I would recommend sitting on the iconic Eventer's Balcony and enjoying the views of Kanchenjunga and finish breakfast with a Coffee.. Though space above terrace is very small it looks nice after renovation and freshly decorated few years back.. Sitting arrangements also available in ground floor but view from terrace is magnificent.. this is one of my favorite stop whenever I am in Darjeeling.

I had one pork specials hot platter which included pork sausages, pork salami, meat loaf, bacon and fried eggs, and one hot chocolate. The sausages and bacon were a little more salty compared to the other dishes. The place had really good ambience, the service was great, and not to forget the amazing view of the rest of Darjeeling. All in all.. I had a really nice experience!

Absolutely wonderful food! Would highly recommend their chicken or pork platters. The quantity is enough for 2 people easily. The Darjeeling tea being served here is one of the best first flush teas I have ever had. The flavor and aroma of the tea is unbeatable. It was my first visit here, didn't know what to expect. I just want to start by saying that the location is good and ambience is pretty amazing. The food is okay. The burger tasted pretty good imo. Although the quality could be improved. It's well decorated with plants and has both open and covered eating places. Visit here if you want to grab snacks at a good but affordable place.

The place really lived up to its hype. The pork or the chicken platter at 380 is good enough to fill 2 people. The platter comes with sausages bacon salami and 2 egg pooch. We also tried the salami sandwich and hot chocolate. Both were really good. Try to get the table on the deck outside for some amazing views for Mall road and the clock tower. Morning breakfast is always the first choice for everyone. But if you don't get a table then try in the evening just before sunset for some breathtaking views. If you are lucky you can get a glimpse of the great kanchanjunga while sipping your hot chocolate

If you went to Darjeeling and didn’t visit Keventer’s, what did you do? 😅😂 This was my first time in Darjeeling and First time in Keventer’s. This place has a history of its own. Anyways, the food quality was good but it had a lot of salt in it. Too much salt. That ruined my experience. Anyways barring that, the food was top notch. Must visit this place rather than Glenary’s. You will enjoy your time and food here.
Sekhar Suman — Google review
Keventer's is a name that has become synonymous with breakfast platters, as far as the locals and tourists are concerned. For someone who has frequented this establishment since childhood, I can vouch for the fact that the ambiance and food (although many may raise questions on it) is what drives people in droves to this place. Whether it lives up to the "hype" or not, that I leave for others to decide. My answer would be in the neutral - neither good nor bad. What is great about the place - the sausages, the ham, the salami (both pork and chicken); and the bacon. They also serve burgers and hot dogs (although, I would say the latter is a big NO for those with health issues because it comes totally fried). Wash down all the oily and fried (but tasty) food with the delicious shakes or a hot steaming cuppa coffee or tea even as you soak in the captivating scenery. What is bad about the place - The quality has gone down drastically and although, improvements have been made, yet, one may find the shakes a bit on the watery side, the buns a wee bit overdone, the quantity to be lacking in consistency, and minor hygiene issues but I always ignore these concerns as this place occupies a special place in my heart. Keventer's also has a counter downstairs where one can always purchase the processed items to savour at home. Do note that the outdoor area is always packed so make sure to reach early. To conclude, a great place to stop by if one if visiting Darjeeling, especially for the first time :)

Chinese restaurant
Self service restaurant that is popular with locals and tourists for the good quality food it serves, including vegetarian thalis. The restaurant is located on the Mall Road in Darjeeling.
The food was good. They have a variety of vegetarian cuisine. Cosy ambience. Value for money.

My experience of this place has been very different in the month of April 2022 compared to some of the negative reviews. Though I only ordered a Veg Chowmein and a cup of coffee, there were multiple things behind this good rating. I reached in the evening when there was no one at this place but it soon more people trickled in. The tables as well as the place was very clean. The view near the window is really good but this is true for some many places in Darjeeling. The chowmein was cooked using vermicelli noodles and though I was not prepared for that, the taste was really good. It was desi Indian style chowmein not the authentic Chinese taste but I like the desi version too. Coffee was strong and wasn't too milky. This was a really good option for pure vegetarian food after the disaster at Frank Ross nearby whose food was literally unpalatable the day I visited it.

I am giving 1 star. There food have no taste. Only cumin and coriander smell in each food. And too costly compare to the quality. And even their behaviour is so bad. They even Didn't call to take thali. There is no sanitizer, no handwash, no peptic. A cheap hotel give all of these but hasty tasty is running for only there name has being popular. Allover bad experience. Near this restaurant, a little restaurant named Friendship restaurant, very testy food and quality plus budget price are available there.

This is a veg restaurant on the road towards Glenary's from the Darjeeling Mall. They take their last order at 9:30. They have an exhaustive veg menu. The dosa, kulcha, pav bhaji are good. The roti and curries are also decent. The place does have a hygiene problem as I saw their staff filling the drinking water jug with the same water used for washing hands. Not recommended due to hygiene concerns.

Prime location (Rating - 8/10) 6. Staff behaviour was rude. (Rating - 2/10) 7. Self Service mode 8. Cheapstake behavior - They have torn single ply tissue papers into 2 pieces.
