Restaurant
If you're looking for a delicious and affordable meal, Nohoch Kay should be your go-to restaurant in Mahahual. The seafood special is a must-try, and the staff is friendly and welcoming.
This place was amazing! Best find near the Costa Maya cruise port. The food is delicious and the beach is beautiful and peaceful. Beautiful view of the sea. We had the whole snapper (sorry didn't get a photo), shrimp ceviche and the guacamole which was one of the best I've ever had. Music was American music but I think they do authentic Mexican in the evening. It would have been nice to hear local musicians but the live musician played and sang American top 40. Jose our server was super sweet and attentive. Highly recommend taking a taxi ride here when visiting Costa Maya

We had langosta (lobster) de mantequilla y ajo and camarones (shrimps) de coco. Everything was very tasty (especially the grilled lobster and grilled broccoli), but the different sauces were slightly bland and too sweet for our taste.
Simon Bolivar — Google review
It's a chilled place had fun with friends, speaking Spanish helps because prizes are different 😅 Music was diverse and the ambiance is great overlooking the beach and you'll also see small lizard friends as you dine. Cab ride from the Port was 12usd and a 2 course meal for 3 people we paid 110usd so reasonable and 😋 yummy

Absolutely the place to go to eat in Mahahual. Extremely fresh fish, extensive menu and casual mood make this place the best place in Mahahual. My girlfriend and I had lunch here and were delighted with the quality of the food( she camarones al BBQ and I octopus with squid ink) All good and they also accept credit card.

Best restaurant in Mahahual it offers a great all inclusive option that can't be matched. The food is great and the ceviche is one of the best I have eaten in a long time the service from the waiters was the best. I will definitely come back if I return to Mahahual.
Beto — Google review
We purchased a day pass here for a large group of 9. We purchased the morning of and luckily were able to get a spot. We had the all inclusive pass which included food, drinks, beach chairs, wifi, and shade. This place was super laid back and the staff stayed on top of it. It was super hot and they kept making sure we had plenty of water and drinks. We had teenagers and they stayed busy here as well. We would definitely recommend this place to other cruise goers looking for a place to relax for the day! The food was also wonderful and everyone enjoyed what they ate. The owner was there and made sure we were all taken care of. We will definitely come back!

We literally went every day we stayed in Mahahual. Fresh food and great flavors for the best price in town. Super recommended
Felix Davila — Google review
A nice restaurant with lots lots seafood dishes you can choose from. You can choose from either sitting in the restaurant or at the beach. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. Worth the visit!
Theo Choi — Google review
Quiet area of beach towards the end of the boardwalk. Mexican food is good, great selection of tequila shots. Chair lounger under papalas and shaded. Visit every time we go to Mahaulah.
Jean Wagner — Google review
Absolutely fantastic. Tucked away if you’re coming from port, or just a decent way along the beach, Nohoch Kay is fantastic. The drinks are well made, the food is clean and simple, fresh and tastes great. Their homemade habanero sauce is super intense, but mixed with the guacamole or salsa it’s a good time, the chipotle and tamarind is fantastic- Smokey and sweet. Service was fast, drinks choice was great- pro tips are wear mosquito repellent. Pricing is very affordable, so tip well!

This place is a gem great prices and the food is delicious. We only eat in this place during our full stay in Mahahual the shrimps are amazing and they have lot of ways to make them so fresh and huge . All the food that we tried there was delicious and we keep coming back to try the shrimps . Definitely our place to go in Mahahual delicious food and very affordable prices . 👌

Walk past all of the other restaurants, you will be glad you did. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the food was great. We all ordered the tacos, not for any other reason than it is what sounded good. The grilled fish and the shrimp were great. In addition to the great service, great food, and cold beer, the view is awesome! No need to stop anywhere else, just come here.

Stopped here for dinner for our last night in Mahahual. Service was quick and friendly. They welcomed our dog. We ordered shrimp pasta and the sirloin burger. With a coke and water included it was 470 pesos.

The best octopus ink dinner around. I dont think I could be happy eating that anywhere. Alex made us feel at home with his light friendly service. Take care, my man.

Bar
Restaurant
Located in the downtown district of Mahahual, Yaya Beach is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike to enjoy drinks, food and live music. Opened in 2009, the bar offers a wide variety of drinks, including international favorites like margaritas and mojitos, as well as more traditional Mexican fare like tacos and enchiladas. Outdoor seating is available around an open-air bar, while inside there are several dining areas with views of the ocean.
Y’all go to Yaya! Carlos took great care of us, our cups were never empty. This is a beautiful beach club with breathtaking views. The water is nice and warm, and they’ve added netting so the seaweed doesn’t wash up on the shore like it used to. We’ve been to Yaya a few times, and we are always glad we went. Do the Deluxe All Inclusive Package. You’ll thank me later!
Chandra Meyer — Google review
I booked YaYa Beach Club a couple months prior to my cruise this month. The check in instructions were very clear and easy to follow. ONLY issue was, that it made in seem like we had to get there RIGHT AWAY. On my reservation it said I must arrive within two hours of my ship docking or my chairs could be given away. With our ship docking at 7 AM we made it to YaYa at 8:00 AM with only an $8 cab fair to the location. Upon arrival I was told there was no one to help me - so we just made our way down to the beach and choose what chairs we wanted. Later in the day we were assigned our waiter George, who was super helpful and we were never without a drink - he was very attentive to make sure we always had a beverage! Very friendly! We ordered the ceviche and mushroom tacos which were just okay - nothing I would order again but glad I tried. The smoothies were great! When I booked months back I also booked us for an hour long massage each - Best idea ever and worth the money! They women doing the massages did deep tissue and were softer upon request. So relaxing! The resort itself didn't play any loud/annoying music which I appreciated. It's nice to sit on the beach and relax - however the neighboring resort had loud/annoying music. The beach area was kept clean which was a huge plus. It was quite annoying being constantly asked to buy cigars/jewelry/etc. from all the vendors walking buy. I understand people need to make a living - but literally every 5 minutes we were bombarded with someone coming up to us. We had to retreat to the water to avoid them.
Jessica Jorgensen — Google review
We spent the day here last week and everything was amazing. Only 10 minutes from the cruise terminal and the water was clear and refreshing. Lounge beds were so comfy and in the shade. Drinks and service were great and food was good too. But please don't be like us, and leave without tipping on the all-inclusive drinks! We somehow only tipped on the food bill and then realized it when we were back on the ship. We still feel really awful about it. So if you go, tip Sergio extra for us!
Renee — Google review
We went on an overcast day so the beach was a bit underwhelming. Small beach, no waves, it's about chest deep unless you go beyond the markers. However, the water was warm, the service good, drinks were good, not wow, but good, you can't order plain chips and salsa, I received loaded chips that were only so so. Yes you will get badgered by sellers, but they were friendly and honestly, the prices were better than the stores. I didn't mind it at all. You just have to be politely firm. All in all, I would go back. This is a lovely upcoming area that appreciates tourists. I wish we had had more time to explore. If your into scubadiving, it's right here.
W. P. — Google review
We spent the day here with our kids and grandkids. Everyone had a great time. George, our server, was attentive and easy to find if we needed anything. It has a very laid back atmosphere. The water was shallow enough for the toddlers and crystal clear. We will definitely be back!
Stacie Bailey — Google review
We had a great beach day at Yaya! Easily reached from cruise terminal by taxi. Shaded lounge chairs and chill vibe. THANK YOU for the vegan food options!!!!

Really on the top 3 places to be in Mahahual!! Went there many times and always find nice and friendly people working there. Very tasty food for breakfast and lunch and perfect drinks! The beach is amazing, crystal water and big and soft beach loungers. Recommended to book before to arrive, because is one of the best places there. If you are going to stay in Mahahual you have to go there to relax in a very nice atmosphere!!
Luxx — Google review
Beautiful beach, certain spots on the beach are not so clean especially between this beach and the light house, a mile long of village strip shopping, short of public bathrooms, if you need it, you must book a dining table on the beach. Bathrooms are generally not so clean, short of toilet papers and hand soap. Taxi cost $4 one way, from the ship dock to the beach.
Chanbo Keo — Google review
Yay Yay was a recommended place from a Google Maps post! This place didn't disappoint! All cabbies know the place. It was a $4 taxi ride. They will tell you that you must have reserved your table beforehand. We journeyed on and was told by several ppl that they had better free places on the beach. Yay Yay was a short walk from where we were dropped off downtown. The place was great! It's like we had our on little private beach! It was a Monday, and although there were 3 ships in Port, the crowd didn't trickle over to Yay Yay! This made for a relaxing time, and no reservations were needed. They have nice cabanas that you can reserve online for a price, or if you eat/order It's free! This is a place I would definitely return to in the future.
Lanette Vickers — Google review
I liked the pizza's. They were great, the rest of the food I did not find so enjoyable. I had a pasta Yaya, with salmon, and to me it is very expensive for little food with hardly no salmon. Also the include the tip in the bill, so be aware! The first night I did not know and tipped way too much.
Jeanette Slagt — Google review
It was amazing. Drinks were free, food was amazing and the beach was clean and wonderful
Kim Kirkhart — Google review
The location was beautiful, the food was good as were the drinks. Conveniently located next to Dr. Dive. I found the service to be less than I would have desired this 4-star review. I would go back and try again through. I did not try their breakfast. However, the plates they brought out to others looked delicious.
Daniel Paugh — Google review
It is located right in the village centre. I picked it up from all places because there was no loud music. The drinks' prices are average and the foods' also, considering that it is located in a touristic area. It is not cheap, therefore. Meal for two, depending on what you order, can cost around 80 dollars, but the food is tasty. The service is slow but friendly. They have an outside area with beach chairs and a private beach with a net due to the seaweed sargaço. I have been there 3 times, and it is until now the place I liked the most compared to others.

Outdoor Activities
Mahahual Beach is a vibrant coastal town with an array of small dining establishments and bars along the shoreline. This beach offers snorkeling expeditions where visitors can observe turtles and coral reefs. It is located in close proximity to Costa Maya, Mexico making it a convenient destination for tourists. The area provides inexpensive beer and food, making it an excellent place to spend the day on the strip.
Water was very clear, warm and in nice tones of blue and light green. Sand was great as well. U can find a lot of restaurants, souvenir shops and small coffee bars on the beach also.
Milos Grujic — Google review
Closest beach to Costa Maya, Mexico. Excellent place to spend the day on the strip with super cheap beer and food. Good for scuba right on the shore, no boats needed.
A Jekov — Google review
Great beach. Lots of choices of restaurants, shops, and services. It is a $4 cab ride from the cruise terminal. Shop for a good spot on the beach when you get there. They are all right next to each other.
Rob Harrison — Google review
Loved cruise port! Free pool with swim up bar. Easy free beach access. The air walk aviary was awesome. Was only $15 per adult to do. The Mayan air acrobats were very cool as well.
Anne Davis — Google review
The beach is vary dirty and full of seaweed. Because there are lots of seaweed, the locals fence off the beach and then there are like small, shallow pools in the sea. We did not enjoy this beach. The shops on the sidewalk are cool and fun to walk around there.
Lior Bless — Google review
10% of this beach is accessible and it cost to be the boss. Federal pere is the place you can access for free. Don't waist the ride up ocean because it's all Funky seaweed.
King Kwa Zulu — Google review
This beach has so much potential but it has been commercialized. You'll be frequently approached by people wanting you to go to one of the private restaurants. Most of the beach is gated to keep the sargusm seaweed away.
Stephanie Rodriguez — Google review
The people are like mosquitoes and won’t leave you alone. Always trying to sell you trinkets/junk. Water and view is nice. Nice strip of shops. Prices comparable to America so don’t expect to get a good deal on anything.
Travis zuidmulder — Google review
Did this “excursion” Costa Maya tours from ship $65 USD for shuttle to and from beach (return is by taxi but they wait till it’s full before it will return) snorkel was guided- they attempt to show you marine life- they offer life jackets for inexperienced swimmers. Reef is grey-bleached in many spots. Offered kayaking and “free drinks” after snorkelling. Beach chairs provided. Lots of paid food options and lots and lots of people coming around to sell you bags, bracelets and flowers made of green straw. Not as relaxing as I would have liked.

Very Beautiful Village. Great for families, couples and friends. You can practice aquatic sports, fishing or just swim and lay down eating ceviche and having a drink. they have great seafood. make sure to try lobster!!!!
Karen Vargas — Google review
Mahahual is a small fishing village converted in a tourist place. You can find nice easy scuba diving reefs, with a lot of experienced guides. It has some sargazo but you can enjoy a pleasant stay.
Ricardo Rodriguez — Google review
Nice beach, but the restaurants took over the place. There are chairs and tables everywhere
Patricio — Google review
The beach is not big and don’t have much sand. All of it is occupied by thousands of tables/sunbeds so you can’t really escape paying for a place to stay. The sea is very shallow and full of nets… Closer to the lighthouse is better. During the day it is full with people from cruises but after they leave it’s very quiet. The best part is the little town, with little shops all along the coast.
Catalina Bello — Google review
Mahahual Beach was amazing. The water was crystal clear and so clean. The beach was well maintained with lots of seating. Our excursion offered us an open bar and clean restrooms maintained by the employees. Make sure to bring cash with you as there are a ton of local street vendors with lots of yummy fruit and street tacos and corn cups. Bartering is a big thing with the vendors so be aware.

The 40 CAÑONES HOTEL is a casual spot with a restaurant and bar, as well as beach service. It's located in central Mahahual, and its guest rooms feature rustic/modern decor that includes bed-mounted TVs, private bathrooms with hairdryers and personal lockers. The hotel also offers free WiFi and private parking.
Really great, relaxing day at the beach. We booked a package online and got a nice lunch while the rain blew through the area. The beach chairs are comfortable and many of them are shaded if you need that option.
Beth Bondar — Google review
We didn't stay here but the hotel was darling and we ate at the restaurant. Amazing food. It took awhile but we were just enjoying looking over the ocean. The caviche was the best I have ever had.
Aeryk Checketts — Google review
We caught a barracuda fishing right off the shore on La Leyenda ECO TOURS and the hotel kitchen cooked it for us! They made 4 different dishes with it and the ceviche was the best we've ever had! Highly recommend this place for a quick lunch or relaxing beach day!
Jarrett Cameron — Google review
Disappointed by this hotel. The ground floor with the restaurant is beautiful, with trees and lights that look dreamy, and food was good. But the rooms are very dark, windows cannot be used so much because they are open to the view of other customers. One part in the shower was broken, but not a big issue. The staff was so and so. When we left, we got a strange behaviour from the person a the front desk, who seemed annoyed to open the parking to us so that we can leave.
Cl?ment Humbert — Google review
+ Had a Alfredo Shrimp. Really tasty and worth the money. We have waited for to food a long time and it was busy. There was some techno chillout music was playing, first time we went there was chill italian music. I think with better tables, and forks knifes plates, glasses and service it can be 5 star experience. Needs attention. - Salad was wet and didnt taste much. Avacado souce didnt make sense at all. You couldn't mix with the salad, it was creamy... The pasta is really good though. 👍 havent tried the rest.
Tarik Isik — Google review
newly renovated, the grounds of the hotel have a nice feel, but more than half of the rooms are facing inside the building with zero natural light (no windows!), claustrophobic despite being spacious and also musty as a result. Front and back rooms are much better (with balcony), and some have a fridge. No kettle, no coffee machine provided. We had a dirty toilet on check-in which wasn't a good start, but that was fixed quickly with a room change. It was clear to us they try to fill the worst rooms first (least attractive, hardest access) a tactic i don't understand when you pay full price in advance and check in early enough. Staff generally try to be helpful but manager behind the scenes is not accommodating and not really interested in making guests happy. Did not want to honor the hotel's own written rules which was strange. Restaurant is good, beach club is ok, the beach itself is not the best of the strip. if you must stay here, make sure you understand what room you're booking. there are better hotels/ beachclubs in mahahual
Marc Mansour — Google review
Nice if basic hotel. Good restaurant. Beach facilities and water on tap. Room price will determine your experience but if you get the balcony sea view rooms, you will enjoy. I would return.

Very nice hotel, directly at the beach. Clean and proper rooms. The service is very attentive, same at the restaurant, which offers you delicious food.
Robert Neher — Google review
We have visited by sea on RCI 4 times and will be back for Feliz Año Nuevo 2024! This is a wonderful location with top notch service. Luis the restaurant/ beach supervisor has a skilled and attentive staff. Daniel and Benito should be commended for great service at the beach. This is a 4-5 star boutique property. (It is a highlight to see the Chiki-Lynn (Benito's dog) every year)
Coach Doc — Google review
Location was great. The beach club and restaurant were great, however they are independent of the hotel. Free parking was nice. The room was spacious. The location was easy to find. Disliked · Management could have cared less if I was there. There was an issue where a very inexperienced cleaning person sprayed some kind of oil allow over our floor and everything in the room. They even got it on some of my clothing. I brought it to their attention. I have to vacate the room for an hour for them to clean it, they refused to even buy me a drink at the bar while I waited. They did not clean my clothing, and they could not tell me what was on them so I would know how to clean them. They told me to come talk to the manager the next day. The next day I was told the manager was not there. They called her and she said there was nothing they could do for me for my clothing with the mystery oil on them. No apology, no empathy. They just did not care or want to own that they damaged my clothing. Also, the television in my room did not work and the safe would not lock, neither of which was that big of a deal, but the housekeeping problem and more importantly the lack of willingness of management to resolve it was a problem. The hotel is in need of updates and maintenance. Old, tired furniture, peeling paint, etc. If it wasn't for the great beach club, which again, is a different owner than the hotel, this place would have a 2 star rating. Go for the beach club, stay elsewhere.
Ron Haugen — Google review
Wonderful location, right on the beach. Tasty cocktails with super service and friendly staff. A great place to wander and people watch while you enjoy the beautiful beach and turquoise water. We’ll be back, for sure!
james barton — Google review
We stayed here for a week. The beach club is nice and also the staff is really friendly and helpful. However the towels you will get for the beach smell pretty bad. Also we were not very happy with the hotel itself for this price. Although the room was cleaned daily the bathroom smelled really bad and there was actually no hot water. The furniture is not new and the sheets had some stains. It’s definitely not the standard you would expect for a four star hotel. So we would not recommend staying there.
Andreas Mardt — Google review

Pizza restaurant
Pizza Papi Pasta is a fun and vibrant place where you can enjoy great pizza in a comfortable atmosphere. The crust is unique and cooked in a fire pizza oven, making it crispy and crunchy. The restaurant also has an environment that is really fun and inviting, with a cool party vibe. The waitstaff are attentive and knowledgeable, making your dining experience perfect. Overall, Pizza Papi Pasta is one of the best pizza restaurants in the area!
Pizza was really good. The crust is a thin artesanal type cooked in a fire pizza oven. Crispy and crunchy. Not many pizza places have this type of crust in the area. The environment is super fun and has a cool party vibe. The waitstaff and owner are very attentive. Really great experience.

Great pizza, great service, affordable prices, plus the place looks really cool. I was there shortly after the opening hour, so it was quite deserted, but I can imagine there must be an amazing atmosphere later at night. Highly recommend, definitely one of the best pizza places in town.

Pizza Papi was a pleasant surprise! We had no expectations considering the beach restaurants are not that good… and the Carbonara and Bruschetta Papi were absolutely delicious! Affordable prices too! Plus there was live music which makes the vibe super bohemian and enjoyable. We’ll come back tomorrow to try the pizza :)

What a very good waitress and bartender. Great drinks and awesome food. I had the shrimp and chicken salad and my husband had tacos. Portion size and drinks were great

Both Pizza were good but I would not call them the best pizza I ever had (as some of the other contributors do) I missed the crust and the edges were a little bit burned. The setting is nice but they have limited outside seating and it can be quite hot inside. Service was ok and prices are reasonable (neither cheap nor expensive)

If you're looking for a delicious seafood meal in Central America, The Krazy Lobster is worth checking out. This American restaurant has an outdoor seating area with views of the ocean, and offers both lunch and dinner menus. There's also a full bar, free wifi, and table service. The live music on weekends is a nice touch!
The BEST! Got off the ship in Costa Maya and went to the cab stand. A $4 ride got me there. I was greeted and lead to a lounger for no fee. They gave me a menu and that was it. I ordered a corona for $2 and this mountain of delicious ceviche for $20! The beach was nice, albeit a little crowded. The massages right nearby were only $20 for an HOUR!

This place was amazing. It was a quick taxi ride from port ($4 per person) . Waiters from the restaurant walked us to our table right on the beach. The food was good and amazing atmosphere with live music. You can also walk in the ocean they have a small beach 🏝. The beer was 5 for $5.
Ila Singh — Google review
We came here based on some friends recommendations while in port. It was a short taxi ride (don’t pay more than $4 a person). We had our 12 year old and 4 year old and it was perfect. The water in the beach is calm due to being sectioned off, the food is good, and the drinks are yummy! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a place to spend the day while in port.

The James Gang visits the Krazy Lobster every time we’re on a cruise and port in Costa Maya. The pictures are seven years apart and we’ve had visits in between. The food is great, prices are even better, and the owner is as friendly as they come! He’s nice enough to get in the picture with us every visit. We’ll definitely be visiting again in the future!

Great place for kids to play and have food and drinks brought to your table. There is a kids play place with slide and swing, covered tables, beach loungers, and a beach style entrance to a seaweed free beach. Service was great, food was not bad, and drinks were good. 25 dollar hour massage on the beach! Restrooms and showers on-site plus shopping and vendors.

This was hands down the best part of my family Cruise over the summer of 2023. Food was delicious, drinks were amazing, and the service was best in the world. Very clean and pretty beach. My family will definitely be back.
Kevin Brackett — Google review
We had a great day here! The food, drinks, and service were all amazing! There are a lot of shops along the walkway with some really nice souvenirs at good prices. My husband got a massage and said it was great. $20 for an hour. The only reason I didn't get a massage was that they do it right by the walkway. Not private enough for me, however, they apparently do a really good job! I missed out. There isn't a beach area, just a rocky entrance to a nice swimming spot. It's still beautiful!
Erin M — Google review
It's a nice place to just relax and hang out. There wasn't much sand area to sit on the beach. But there were lounge chairs to enjoy. We did have a dedicated waiter who was great!!! The food and drink prices were very reasonable. We weren't a big fan of the food. We enjoyed the water and free kayaks. We would definitely come back again.

Very GOOD local eatery. My wife 2nd time here & she suggested The Krazy Lobster for my 1st time here for lunch. She had the Seafood Nachos. For the more adventurous eaters, I must say.... try the Seafood Soup it was DELICIOUS.

Go here!!!! Take a taxi and go here, you won’t regret it. As long as you are being food and drinks, you have access to the private beach area, playground, beach chairs, and kayaks. We spent around $100 (including the tip) each family, for the day. They also have private restrooms. Food was delicious, and drinks were strong! Miguel was amazing with us!

Ok..... I liked this place, it was a short taxi cab ride from the cruise terminal($6 for two)through the town. Honestly it is very run down in the area. the service was decent our waiter was nice not very talkative but nice. the food was ok although I didn't get what I ordered which was breaded fried shrimp. I received grilled and just didn't complain. The lobster was a little tough but it tasted ok. Fish was very good and well seasoned. On to the reason i gave it 3 stars... I understand the vendors need to make money, and im from New Orleans where people beg on every corner BUT from the time we sat until the moment we left people came to our table EVERY 3-5 Minutes selling everything they could think of....no exaggeration. Yes you can just simply say no thanks but after about the 25th no thanks it took away from the experience..The only time they didn't come is when we were eating. The MINUTE the waiter picked up our plates they were swarming our table again NONSTOP until I told my husband let's go...we couldn't even allow our food to digest before we were taking a taxi back to the ship. Good experience but I won't return.

Beautiful location with lots of shade. Table service on the beach is awesome. We had margaritas and nachos and it all was delicious. Massages available for $20. This was our second time visiting and we will come back again.

The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the ocean and an area of the beach is maintained by the restaurant. We had freshly caught and grilled fish for lunch, which was decent. I was excited to have fresh coconut water/kernel again after many years, but the taste was disappointing — I wouldn’t have it again.

Krazy Lobster is a very cool place! They vibe is what you look for in a beach club. The service is amazing , you want to try about anything they offer just ask and they make it happen. We wanted to snorkel and they set us up immediately and the price was $25. Amazing massage for $25. The food was excellent ! Drinks were cheap. Even the people that were peddling goods were polite and funny . The manager met with everyone he could as they arrived, check him out on YouTube! We had a great time!

Had a great time at the Krazy Lobster! Stopped in for a few tacos and a margarita while on a cruise port day. Tons of seating, free beach access, tons of vendors that will try to sell you things while you’re eating. Beautiful scenery, food was good, service was prompt! Prices very reasonable! I’d definitely like to stop here again next time I’m in the area!

We go to The Krazy Lobster every time we come to Costa Maya. We love the beauty of the area. Lots of shade. The water is refreshing and no seaweed. They really know how to take good care of you. And my husband has to see Julie every time for a massage. We also always end the day by walking toward the lighthouse. Love the beauty along the walk. Easy to grab a cab and head back to the cruise port.

WOW! What a wonderful place. Everyone was very friendly without being pushy. The beach was absolutely gorgeous. The food was delicious and inexpensive. This is a place I will remember for the rest of my life. You're not going for food you're going for memories and you will not be disappointed in the Krazy Lobster. Absolutely loved it. Can't say enough good things.

We were referred to this place by a friend and it didn’t disappoint! We called and Mauricio said come on down all is included! The beach chairs and umbrella all included! You just buy a meal and afterwards you are escorted to beach to enjoy the rest of your day. The food is delicious!

We absolutely enjoyed ourselves at this little spot. This is a restaurant on the beach in Costa Maya. It's a cheap taxi ride away from the Cruise Port. We were seated at a covered table right on the beach. Lounge chairs were immediately in front of us. The food and drinks were cheap! A bucket of 5 beer for $7 (smaller bottles). The food was surprisingly flavorful. My favorite was the beef quesadilla. They had bathrooms and a spot to rinse off. The bathrooms were not the cleanest but they were fine for a beach day. The only down side is all the people that come by your table to sell you things. Otherwise, we really loved our day!

Quiet area of beach towards the end of the boardwalk. Mexican food is good, great selection of tequila shots. Chair lounger under papalas and shaded. Visit every time we go to Mahaulah.

Bar

We spent the day here with our kids and grandkids. Everyone had a great time. George, our server, was attentive and easy to find if we needed anything. It has a very laid back atmosphere. The water was shallow enough for the toddlers and crystal clear. We will definitely be back!

I liked the pizza's. They were great, the rest of the food I did not find so enjoyable. I had a pasta Yaya, with salmon, and to me it is very expensive for little food with hardly no salmon. Also the include the tip in the bill, so be aware! The first night I did not know and tipped way too much.

I tried THC-infused mezcal and enjoyed a complimentary tequila tasting at La Chilangaloense Mezcaleria y Cevicheria. The food was amazing, and I made a new friend named Miguel who served us. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant outside the port area because the food is exceptional. Their tacos and tortas are delicious and unique compared to other places.
We ate at this restaurant once and we're so delighted by their delicious salmon and runa tostadas, that we cameback a second time. It was among the best food we had in Mexico! The whole team is so welcoming, kind and funny. Shoutout to Fernando, who went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. 🍴🐟🍹

Do yourself a favor: get a ride out of the port area and come visit this restaurant! Their food is on point! We tried several tacos and tortas and they were fantastic, and not the average recipe you'll find everywhere else. We also enjoyed some mezcal (not too mention a free tequila tasting) and our only complaint was that there were several very interesting mezcals listed on the menu that were not available (we'll chalk that up to pandemic- related supply issues). The atmosphere and view are incredible, as well. So worth a visit!

The food was amazing and the drinks were delicious. The corn tortillas were the best I have ever had. The only downside was the beach/street vendors. You couldn't even relax without them asking you to buy something. The beach is not great, lots of blocked off sections, per the restaurant/beach club.

We had a great time here! We stopped here on while on a cruise, it was simple to get here from the port, and they even give you video instructions how to arrive to the pick up point. The Food was excellent and Jaqui and her staff offered us the utmost hospitality, even though we had a large group of 13 people. The place has beautiful views and the kids had an amazing time playing in the water. Would highly recommend!

This visit was a third party excursion booked through Trip Advisor while on a cruise. It was not available through the cruise line. One has to walk a short distance (about 5 minutes) from Costa Maya Cruise Port to the pickup location at their affiliated Catrina Restaraunt. While awaiting your transport you will be treated to complimentary bottled water, beverages, and beer. The trip to their beach location is less than 10 minutes. Roundtrip transportation was $4 per person. Jackie's Kitchen at La Chilangaloense was a fun experience for the whole family. The cooking class was especially enjoyable as we made the local style of salsa, guacamole, and ceviche. The cooking demonstrator was fluent in English and Spanish and was a delight to learn from. A two hour open bar included drinks, adult beverages, margaritas, and tequila. Restrooms are located on site. Afterwards one could relax on the sunny, sandy beach or under shaded lounging areas before returning to the cruise ship terminal.

Everything we had here was so elaborate and detailed in both taste and execution. Although the food was flawless and amazing, the real taste explosions were the mixology drinks with mezcal. The Ka'an K'an was sweet but fresh, and La Llorona was the best drink I've had in my life. Made with serrano chili, cilantro, triple sec, lemon juice and mezcal, it was not for everyone as it was really spicy. But for a chili lover like me, it was heaven. Best bartender ever!

Tropicante restaurant offers a fantastic service and boasts a stunning beachfront location. The attentive staff, Edgar and Pedro, ensure the comfort of their guests. The fish filet is served hot and fresh, with the added bonus of being freshly caught that morning. Additionally, the chicken burrito is also of excellent quality. Generous portion sizes are a highlight of this incredible spot.
So in love with this beach side restaurant. Food is delicious & made fresh. Service is impeccable. They make sure that you are always taken care of. I love that they brought a table out to our spot on the beach for us to enjoy our food & drinks. A must stop if you are in the area. We read great things about this place when researching for our cruise and Steve and the staff at Tropicante did not disappoint our expectations! They took the guesswork and anxiety out of coming to a foreign country and allowed us to relax and enjoy this beautiful village of Mahahual! R-r-r-r-a-p-h-a-e-l took great care of us and attended our every need for the whole afternoon we were in port, and their setup on the beach was just PERFECT. We contacted them ahead of time and had 5 chairs along with side tables reserved for us (with no fee or rental charge!) and they gave us perfect directions of how to avoid the issues others ran into at the port with the shuttle people who are paid to take unknowing tourists to the WORST venues on the beach. Like I said, free use of shaded cabana area and chairs, etc and really surprisingly great prices for a tourist place! We got two iced buckets of Corona beer bottles with lime for $15 each (and Raphael came around and iced our buckets as needed) and huge "pile of nachos" for $9 each and we all agreed it was a fantastic shore trip, even when compared to Seven Mile beach on Grand Cayman. We agree that Tropicante is the variable that made ALL the difference. Not to mention the beach here was perfect! THANKS again so much for your help and we plan to return right to this very spot next time we return to Mexico!
