The Santuario de la Virgen de los Remedios, located atop the Piramide Tepanapa in Cholula, Mexico, is a historical church built on a pre-existing pyramid. It offers stunning views of the city and the famous Popocatepetl volcano. Despite being seen as a symbol of conquest by some, it's believed that the Spanish may have unintentionally built on top of a pagan temple.
Beautiful church on top of the pyramids. Best spot in town to overlook cholula and Puebla. There’s a nice park as well to walk around. Alot of locals come to work out and climb all the way to the top of the church. Neighbors feels very safe and alot of coin parking around.
Yandro — Google review
Siting on top of the main pyramid, this church offers amazing views of Cholula and Puebla. Only reachable by foot, on a rather steep pathway (not recommended for people with mobility disabilities), the walk is pleasant yet strenuous, with several stops and photo spots along the way, makes it worth the effort. It is also Free of charge.

The sanctuary has great architecture with an ornament that is not easy to find in other places. The paintings inside are a small passage in the timeline. The place behind the virgin is beautiful and full of tranquility. The view of the volcanoes is excellent, it just doesn't matter if there is a lot of smoke or the wind with ash against it.

Very interesting scenery. A mix of mesoamerican and Hispanic cultures: The church is on the top of the great pyramid of Cholula.

As much as I am not a religious person and not really into churches and cathedrals, I quite enjoyed my visit to this church, partly due to the physical exertion needed to hike up here and partly due to the ornateness and detailed exquisiteness of this monument to God. It is obvious that there is a lot of money that is donated here. I spent a good hour here as there was some type of celebration/festival/event which involved a drum and bugle band, a small parade bringing an artifact into the church, and a sea of people. This was one of the highlights of my trip so far. 5 stars.

(Translated by Google) The Church is very beautiful inside. Beautiful historic church constructed on top of an archeological site, virgin brought from Spaniards and constructed the church as they would construct on top of temples. It’s a beautiful church with beautiful views from top

Another amazing Iglesia... There are over 30 churches in Cholula. This one inadvertently constructed on an overgrown "hill" that turned out to be The Great Pyramid of Cholula also known as Tlachihualtepetl (Nahuatl for "made-by-hand mountain"). The church is a beauty, worth the 10 minute walk up the hill and stairs. Great views of the city. Be sure to visit the pyramid and the nearby Museo Regional as well.

The panoramic view outside the temple is truly breathtaking, offering a sweeping overview of the entire cityscape. It provides an excellent opportunity to capture stunning selfies against the backdrop of the city, creating lasting memories to share with friends and family. Visiting this spot is a must for those seeking both natural beauty and a unique perspective on the city's landscape.

(Translated by Google) One of the most beautiful churches in Cholula. a small but ornate church located on top of the Pyramid od Cholula. Entrance is free both to the church and the pyramid, at least the unexcavated part. No photos are allowed inside the church so I didn't take any. Great views of the town and the environs from the top.

Churrería Las Duyas Zócalo San Pedro Cholula is a churro shop located in the picturesque town of San Pedro Cholula, Puebla. Situated just 25 minutes away from Puebla's capital and two hours from Mexico City, this charming establishment offers delicious churros. The word "cholula" derives from the Nahuatl language, meaning "to twist water.

The Great Pyramid of Cholula, also known as Tlachihualtepetl, is an ancient structure dating back to the 3rd century BC. It is considered the largest pyramid ever built, surpassing even the Great Pyramid of Giza. Abandoned in the 8th century AD and covered by earth, it was rediscovered when the Spanish arrived in the 1500s.
Gorgeous, short steep climb. Incredible view. It's unfortunate that a cathedral spoils this historic monument, and the usual hawkers selling religious baubles are everywhere, but the Pyramid and the nearby ruins are spectacular.
Beecat — Google review
Very disappointing. Tunnels have been closed since covid apparently. You climb the pyramid just to find another church on top. The best thing about it is the view from the top. The ruins themselves are not worth paying admission to. You can see them as you are walking down the pyramid. You can go stand in a big field with no shade and pay admission but I think it's a waste of money. We took the bus from Puebla which was 10 pesos. Cholula is worth a visit for a few hours but that's about it.

Ancient Ruins
The Archaeological Zone of Cholula is a historical site in Mesoamerica that features the Piramide Tepanapa, which resembles a hill and has a church on top. The pyramid has miles of tunnels beneath it, making it an interesting attraction for visitors. The Zona Arqueologica encompasses the excavated areas surrounding the pyramid and its tunnels. Visitors enter through the north tunnel, which takes them on an eerie journey through the center of the pyramid.
Great place to visit in Cholula (near Puebla). On a good day you can see the two volcanoes near by. Lots of history and beautiful ruins to enjoy. Head there early to beat the heat then head over to Cholula town center and a have a beautiful meal. Great day trip! One consideration: maybe look into having a guide give you a tour of the ruins, there is a lot of history here so that could help paint the most vivid picture.
Leonard Ndichu — Google review
Great Place and absolutely impressive pyramid. Unfortunately we were not able to go inside due covid measurements. Traditional market on the ground plaza with a huge offer for souvenirs.
Andreas — Google review
4/5 because I appreciate ruins and history but the organisation or facilities could be better. Firstly, the tickets are only for the area around the base on the pyramid. The entrance to the top (the church) is free. Secondly, when you buy the tickets and leave the ticket office, the first stop (museum) is not clearly indicated. Someone had to tell us to turn around to spot it (it's on the left, down the stairs, opposite way than the rest of the archaeological area. The museum is old but informative. Thirdly, the area itself has nice toilets by the entrance and many signs/tourist information spotted around the complex, but, again, they are a bit old rundown.
Dawid Gadzinski — Google review
Zona arqueología surpassed our expectations. The archeological area is larger than we had anticipated, with informational boards explaining the history of it (there are also guides on site for an extra charge), well maintained and clean. Good for all ages!
Andi — Google review
Amazing place honestly, each section has an information panel explaining what you are looking at. The way everything is still intact is amazing, towards the end you can climb the steps all the way up, when i went there was a mini dust storm so head up on that.
Antonio Morales — Google review
I just didn't like the environment, the cathedral was surrounded by loud drinking, competing people singing, playing instruments, and performing just steps away from each other, each one turning up their speaker to be heard above each other. There was no place to find peace or quiet.
Matthew Dunn — Google review
I have mixed emotions about this place, first I have to admit I didn't know anything about it. The good Is a beautiful place at first look is a church on top of a hill, then you find out that the church is an top of a pyramid. The vew of the city and volcanoes I amazing.
Temoc — Google review
Going up to the church is a work out. But once you reach it, you see that it was all worth it. Very beautiful inside. The pyramid where the church seats on is the largest one to date in the world, do I was told. Around the pyramid you'll find a market place to Walk around and do some shopping, getting something to drink or eat. The weather in July is nice here.
Leo — Google review
Climbed the ramp to the top. There is a nice view of the surrounding city. There have been forest fires, so the volcanoes were not visible. I went to see evidence of the pyramid, but only a small section is exposed at the bottom. Hard to imagine this as a pyramid!
Gary Bodman — Google review
Great place to learn about pre-Hispanic Cholula and Puebla. 90 peso entrance and authorized guides are available in various languages for 350 pesos. Expect 1.5 hours for a guided tour
Carlos Ramirez — Google review
Such an amazing experience! The museum and tunnels were closed, which we would have loved to be told upon purchasing our tickets. But it was still worth the 80 pesos. The signs are poorly translated to English and I think some graphs and illustrations would go a long way in helping one along the journey. Even so, it was so much more than what I expected and so interesting.
Thalia Rabie — Google review
Cholula and the archeological site are pure magic. There is nothing quite like seeing this in person, and the experience will stay with me for my lifetime.
Benjamin Dona — Google review
We took a taxi from Puebla to visit Cholula. We first walked up the hill to visit the church and enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding area. Very impressive. Then we visited the museum and walked the path around the ruins. The museum was small, but had nice displays. The ruins were interesting and we could only imagine how impressive the original pyramid must have been.
Mark Goodwin — Google review
It's a small site as not much was saved from the Spanish conquest. You can still get an idea of what the place used to look like in the past. There is also a small museum that you can visit with the ticket you buy to see the ruins.
Nikko — Google review
Very interesting place. Little bit dissapointed because of the closure of the tunels. It was not indicated on tehe website.
András Davidovics — Google review
Totally worth paying a visit to this landmark. Such a great view and a mix of folklore and fun.
Alejandro Ortiz — Google review
San Pedro Cholula and San Andrea Cholula (yes, both are Cholulas) are part of the same area that surrounds the church and the archeological zone, the walk around the site is very quick and enjoyable, you can find markets for crafts and clothing and if course snacks (these can never be too many). I'll advise you to get parking in one of the parking lots (around $50mxn no time limit) and enjoy the views... Bonus points if you get by sunset so that you can appreciate the church and the Vulcano in the back .
Humberto Montenegro — Google review
Great to have a chance to see the large Cholula pyramid but site is not very well maintained and preserved. Some information provided along the path but confusing and basic when so much could be done to help navigate the different point of view (audio guide?). Tunnel is closed which is not great but visiting the nice regional museum located nearby really helps to understand the cultural context and the environement where was built the pyramid. Having said that most of the information is provided in Spanish with some in English but maybe 5% about all the exhibits. Both the pyramid and the museum are super affordable (270 MXN for 2 adults) and it was free for our 12 and 11 boys. Not perfect but definitely worth a stop

Container City is a vibrant and innovative drinking destination in Puebla, Mexico. Comprised of interconnected shipping containers transformed into bars, restaurants, and shops, it's a popular spot for young locals. The area offers an array of experiences from themed cocktail bars to urban clothing stores. While it's known for its lively nightlife scene with clubs and hook-up spots, it also caters to families earlier in the evening.

We had a wonderful time hanging out at the Jazzatlan club. The club is beautiful the views of the churches are amazing. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and super cool. The drinks were amazing and the entertainment was very good. The service was top notch. They gave us great attention. The bathrooms were very clean. My only complaints would be our food showed up before our drinks which was a slight bummer. I also don't know if I would actually eat at the jazzatlan club again. We had the coconut shrimp and it wasn't good at all it was overcooked and tasted like flour. The mango sauce was flavorless and more like jello than sauce. The fondue was ok. We also ordered a jazz burger and it was flavorless, pale in color, and tough. It doesn't seem like it's cooked on a grill and the patty seemed like a pre-made frozen patty from the grocery store. We will definitely be back for drinks and music but not to eat. All in all a great place to hang out and have drinks.

We had been looking at this place for a while, and decided to come in. Style points but everything seems more Instagram than substance, unfortunately. It has the trappings of a cute, farm-to-table style restaurant, but the food just isn't there. Lamb burger: The bread looks great, but it was super dry to the point of crumbling. The lamb was nicely cooked, and the overall effect with the tzaziki and blue cheese is nice. The fries are bizarre. They taste like... Turnips? Some none-potato root vegetable. Weird, not great. Candy sweet homemade ketchup is also a miss. Charcuterie: Cute basket presentation is a little tricky to use. This is what I mean about more Instagram than thoughtful. A tiny bit of olive oil (food service grade, not great) in the bottom of a shallow bowl with a wooden spoon is nearly impossible to use. The bread is pretty, but extremely heavy, a bit dry, and doesn't pair well with the meats or cheese. You want something thin that doesn't compete. These cheese is all very mild, and too cold (charcuterie needs to be room temp, but they get this wrong in most of Mexico). It is also all stuck together. You need to serve cheese portioned apart, or whole with a knife. When you cut it but it's still touching, it just all sticks together and is tough to eat. Pretty mediocre. Pastrami 'wrap' : more of a quesadilla than a wrap, and it was fine. The meat is better than some places, but the home made stuff at Bull McCabe is much better. Craft beer: Nice selection, but as usual, not everything is available. This seems to be the standard. Champagne style service and served in wine glasses. Itchy, but I'm okay with it. Nothing was terrible, but it's just not great. We might come back for another shot at some point for an update.

Wow, I loved this place. Wanted to get something from the bakery only, but ended up having the molletes and they were absolutely delishous, especially the extra onion and pico de gallo gave it such good flavor. Otherwise service was outstanding - very friendly and attentive and the place itself is so pleasantly decorated, it’s very comfortable dining here. Their plates are also very chic 😀

(Translated by Google) The pizza, the bread and the chocolate are delicious, I have gone for breakfast and it is still delicious but the chilaquiles are not spicy at all and the cheese is half salty, very comfortable on the terrace!

(Translated by Google) A place in Cholula that prepares its own dough and has good seasoning. We were treated in a friendly manner and I consider that the waiting time was adequate. The service in general was very good. The food was very delicious, different and the portions were abundant, if not sufficient. It seems like a good option to eat in Cholula and take advantage of walking around.

(Translated by Google) On this occasion I only consumed bread from the bakery located on the ground floor. The bread was very good. On the upper floor is the area where the tables of the restaurant of the same business are. I can't comment on the food because I didn't eat it, but the place and the view from the upper floor are very pleasant. Very friendly staff.

Cervecería Cholula is a spacious and laid-back bar with a garden that offers an extensive selection of craft beers, cocktails, and traditional snacks. The atmosphere is perfect for spending leisurely hours, especially when accompanied by a refreshing beer like the recommended Pale Ale and some delicious cazon tacos. It's also family-friendly, welcoming children and even pets. Visitors can enjoy the chill vibes reminiscent of places in southern California while indulging in good food and excellent craft beer.
Every time we come here, we are impressed. Food is absolutely lovely; get the smoked cheese in spicy mole topped with nopales. The desserts are also excellent. Of course, you're here for the craft beer, and it doesn't dissapoint - the current lineup has an excellent winter warmer that I cannot recommend enough.

100p for a 5 sample tray with cups the size of a shot glass was pretty upsetting even if the place is very nice and the food is fine

Wow! I had three different tacos, Picante, Pastor and Picanha. Simply amazing. But the best part of the evening was the Chocolate croquet with Mole Poblano. AMAZING! Not too sweet, but rich chocolate cookie with a chocolate mouse crème and the mole was out of this world!!!

Great atmosphere and good beer. You feel like you’re in a beer garden, places for kids to run and play, and a great staff.

Great service and great outdoor space. They have fires to sit around and roast s'mores. The salsas and guacamole were amazing.

This place is awesome. We were so pleasantly surprised by the delicious craft beer, tasty food, and lovely ambience in a massive outdoor garden. They also have fire pits and a gift shop where you can buy beers to go. Definitely a spot to visit on any trip to Cholula!

Perfect family friendly spot with great food & beer.

Good beer tasters and great food. Very chill vibes. Reminds me of places in southern California. I mean that in the best way possible. The biggest downside was that their banking system doesn't allow them to accept foreign credit cards. So we ended up having to pay cash. Thankfully we had some. So yeah, if you're visiting from out of country. Bring cash.

The place is chill and the beer is good, but what really makes this place awesome is the cool music they play. Definitely a great place to enjoy with friends.

Incredible beer and food in a gorgeous setting. Great service. I’ve been to craft breweries in at least 25 U.S. states and a dozen countries and this place is likely better than all those.

Restaurant
Spezzia Pasta Bar is a highly regarded Italian restaurant in Mexico, known for its authentic and delicious cuisine. Located in Puebla, it has gained popularity as one of the best Italian dining establishments, surpassing even those found in Little Italy in America. With a variety of pasta dishes to choose from, such as Carbonara, Spaghetti, and Tagliolini al Limone, visitors are treated to an exceptional culinary experience.
Order a pizza, one of the best ones I've ever had. The base sauce was on the perfect level of sweetness, could taste the freshness on the tomatos. The char was right on point. Had two pastas two, one of them freshly made, the squid ink was a little overpowering but overall great flavor. The second one was a carbonara, all the flavor really came together. For the drinks, tasted a variety of them, couldn't find a way to go wrong with any of them. Maybe there's a perfect match for each dish, but all of them are great.

This restaurant is really a gem. It was by far the best Italian kitchen I had in entire Mexico. This is real Italian food, every dish is foodporn. Within 1 week we went 4x and the quality was always superb! Honestly if you are in or near Puebla, go there. It’s by far the best quality of food you can get there. Prices are absolutely fair, quite low in fact for what you get. The drinks are amazing. The patio is calm and chilly. Service is very good (outstanding for Mexico). Very nice and lovely owners, who really care about their customers. We tried almost all entrandas, pasta dishes, posters and drinks. This restaurant is really amazing. I highly recommend! Thanks to the Spezzia Team. We will come back for sure. You rock, you do an amazing job 😎😊

In general it was a good pasta and pizza place but it was not extraordinary! The dish that stood out for me was the Burrata 2. Other than that the pastas are good and the pizza is very good. Dessert was ok. Service was really good

Congratulations for this business it is the best pasta , pizza and drinks in Cholula

I live near Little Italy in America and all three pastas I had from Spezzia are 2 to 3 times better than all the pasta I've had in Little Italy. This is my favourite restaurant in Mexico and I've been to many restaurants in my 20+ visits to Puebla. You must come here if you visit Puebla or go on a date in the area. I tried the Carbonara, Spaghetti, and the one in the photo below which is the Tagliolini al Limone. Forgive me but they were all a 9 or 10/10 so I don't even know which one to suggest to you lol

It’s been over 1,5 year since we’ve been but yesterday we were talking about the best pizza we ever had and the one we had here made it to nr 1! Keep up the good work ❤️

This restaurant is The BOMB dot com!!! Absolutely delicious food and lovely owners who know good food. The owner came over and talked to us in English and asked us if we had any questions and described some seasonal items on the menu. They even allowed us to bring our well behaved dogs and sit on the back patio, which was nice after traveling and being in the car all day. We had a seasonal appetizer, the greens salad (so fresh with the perfect amount of dressing), the ravioli with truffles and spaghetti entrees, and the Carrot cake (OMG). My husband and I both agreed that this was the most delicious Italian food we have ever had. If you’re in town, check this place out! Highly recommend
