Outdoor Activities
Situated in Yogyakarta, Pok Tunggal Beach is a serene haven that blends adventure and tranquility. Surrounded by verdant cliffs and lush greenery, this picturesque beach boasts a lengthy stretch of white sands and clear-blue waters. The iconic Duras Tree provides the perfect photo opportunity for visitors. However, the journey to reach the beach can be challenging due to poorly maintained roads; yet, it is well worth it for those who appreciate natural beauty.
It was a challenge to get in this place, quite remote spot and you'll lose signal automatically. But totally worth it, beautiful scenery and white sands. Just be careful with the waves, kinda wild. It really looks like Melasti beach in Bali.

the beach is still clean. nice photo spot. only the path to get there is not good. those who sell are also classified as regular.
Jenny SW — Google review
Great camping place! There are many stalls around the beach, so if you run out of supplies, you can buy there. There are also toilets there. Entrance ticket 10k per person and retribution fee 10k per tent. You can also pay a photografer 3k / photos for capturing your moment! The distance between the parking area to the beach is very close, so you don't need to be afraid of being tired 😁. Go on weekdays if you want to find some quietness!
Fakhri Khaulany — Google review
Good view but the beach front was not sandy but having corel floor. Not good for children.

This place is so quiet not like other beach in Gunung Kidul. But the road is soooo broken and if you with car you should extra careful. But the scenery is so beautiful. Try to visit even its hard to go.
Icha Afkarina — Google review
The road to this place was not so smooth, but the beach was very clean and not too crowded when I visited.

Loved this pantai there was a lot of space to relax and enjoy the nature. There is area where you can get in the water but be vary careful as the current can be difficult to negotiate most times. There are a lot of vendors selling food and mats that make it very easy to just show up and relax

Pok Tunggal Beach has a beautiful and clean environment, the sea water is still clear, thick white sand is free of rubbish. This beach overlooks the Indonesian ocean with fairly high waves and is surrounded by beautiful coral hills. The beach location can be reached in about 2 hours from the city of Jogjakarta through hilly and coral views.
Joglowebs. Com — Google review
Beautiful sunset! The path is pretty hard because of the rocks but still nice. It's not the type of beach you will chill all day long, though. Anyway, when we came there, the Duras tree was no longer there, meanwhile this beach was famous because of it.
Maria Marselina Shinta WP — Google review
Bit speechless about this place, because this beach have awesome landscape view. I came at 5am and still dark.. Hoping I can shoot best light in the morning.. 😁, but nature has different way hahaha so cloudy there. I came to one of traditional coffee shop, after order I saw a man directly approach to our coffee shop from the beach bring an octopus and some fish. The owner of coffee shop says.. Hai.. What would you like to order from those fresh fish.. Hahaha to early for me for heavy breakfast .. I asking her there is other sight from the beach? She said : you have to move up to that hill.. Wewwwwww 🤦‍♂ hahaha closed enough but going up is.... 🤣🤣 Then we going up and taking lots of picture.. Till the cloud more dark. So this place is so quite place, not to crowded, average clean.. So fun in this beach. So if you stay in Jogjakarta.. Please stop by to pok tunggal beach..
yo_ bowie — Google review
The beach is somewhat quiet, not crowded. Beautiful beach and cliffs, a lot of ponds when the tide is low. Beware of jellyfishes, urchins, and dangerous rolling waves. Stay safe and stay healthy.
Muhammad Fahmi — Google review
Access to this beach is hard, not possible for bus/trucks. Therefore, this beach is still not to crowded. And still consider as hidden gem. Sands are white but not too clean.

Caverns & Caves
Jomblang Cave, situated in Gunung Kidul near Yogyakarta, is a unique geological formation comprising a collapsed sinkhole that forms part of a cave network. Visitors are provided with caving gear and lowered approximately 165 feet down the sinkhole on ropes before hiking through a tunnel to Grubug Cave. The cave is well-known for its sunken forest, where rays of sunlight create an enchanting effect within the underground space.
A great experience for us. Went down with a scary face but full of curiosity ....and found a beautiful ray of light. Good service from the crew.
Prima Setiawan — Google review
Amazing experience. A must see. Incredible work by the locals, especially when it's time to pull you up! 20 or 30 people are in a line doing it by hand! Incredible.
Moriah Sanchez — Google review
I have mixed feelings about this tourist attraction. On the one hand, it's well maintained and the guides are friendly and experienced. I felt really safe in their hands. on the other hand the experience was really underwhelming- it was awesome when they lowered us down into the cave (so exciting!), then we had to wait 30 minutes for them to lower everyone (boring). Then only the trek into the cave could begin. The trek in was about 15 minutes. The "heaven's light" experience was cool but it wears off after 10 minutes of intense photo taking. We wanted to leave but were told we had to stay in the cave for another 45 minutes because "that's how long the tour lasts" (boring!). Then when we got out, it took another 45 minutes to hoist everyone back out the cave (so so boring). In conclusion, I felt like the drive and the waiting time made up 90% of this entire experience. It should have been better organized to allow batches of people in and out of the cave, instead of doing every step as a big giant group.

Amzing place, well organized and adequate safe environment. Nice place for fotografers
Charles Wassen — Google review
It’s privately owned, but very well organised, and I can see that the team has safety at priority too, and equipments r good. So well worth the price for this! Very interesting and unique cave. Was able to capture the splattering sunlight.

Ray of life (Jomblang cave ) is a superb extreme adventurous tourist attraction but too much expensive. You can experience the ray of light only once a day so be there before 9:20am. I would recommend booking tickets online via WhatsApp before visiting as the limit is 85 pax. Price is 500K IDR per pax ( adults/kids) inclusive of lunch , boots , safety equipment. They provide vegetarian food as well ( without egg ), you have to inform them before heading towards the cave.
vaibhav mayee — Google review
The cave the magnificent. It is not that long, but because everyone wants to take pictures from the same spots, it takes about 2 hours. The wait to go down and to be brought up is long also. My driver tried to book a place for me but never got an answer, so I had to get on the cancelation list and waited 1.5 hours. I was there from 9am to 2pm. The team is lovely and friendly and try hard to please everyone. You get lunch on the way out, no choice on lunch, its chicken with rice and spicy veg, and water. 500,000 I think is over priced, probably because it's on private land, not government owned.
Margarita Buyukli — Google review
Nothing to shout about. I think this is really based on personal preference. I only liked the part where we were hung down. The cave itself, not so much. It was very muddy, slippery and the "light" was very much luck-dependent. The worker there were very friendly though. Spent a lot of time waiting from arriving, waiting to get shoes, waiting for the briefing, waiting for our "team" turn to go down - understandable as they can only bring 2 person down each time and it was all manual. Lunch was provided after that but it was pretty dry. It gets better as you continue eating though. They do sell you photos after too.

Must go place if in Jogjakarta. A taste of adventure and great photos in the cave. Beautiful rays shining down through the cave opening.
Ju Reen Tan — Google review
Jomblang Cave, uniquely amazing and adventure vertical cave. Best time visit morning before 10am, where you can witness a ray of illumination light shines into the cave before noon.
explore2dream&discover — Google review
First of all, its not a recreation for family with kids (5 y.o below) (in my opinion) You will go to a vertical cave, around 1 km diameter and 60 meter below. Provider do it very well and safe. Check my photos for details safety equipment. Then you will track through dark and muddy horizontal cave, around 300 m so you will see a hole, huge with beautiful heavenly light. Bring flashlight would be much better.
Willy Singgih Chandrasasmita — Google review
It's not so much the size or the beauty of the cave that one should come here for, but rather the whole experience. If you like adventures and exploring natural structures in its original form, this is the thing for you. Firstly, you will wear wellington boots and safety harness, and be lowered down to the cave by local staff who took care of our safety. That is quite an exhilarating experience itself. Next, you will enter the cave in pitch darkness as there are no lights installed inside - a torchlight or phone torch will come in handy. Expect some exercise for the legs as you will wade through the thick and sticky mud. Be careful as it can be rather slippery. Finally, the finale and highlight of the experience is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel - both literally and figuratively. The shaft of light ray shining into the cave really looks, as they say, heavenly. You will feel that way especially after the tiring and humid walk through the cave. Then, you will walk back to where you were hoisted down and be pulled back up by 20 to 30 men, some I must say are in their late teens or 20s. Much respect to them for elevating us tourists up back up safely. Tip: Bring old socks and disposable shower caps to wear. Also bring waterproof handphone covers if possible.

Restaurant
HeHa Sky View is a multi-level dining destination located in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. Unlike its counterpart, HeHa Ocean View, which offers stunning beach vistas, HeHa Sky View provides a lofty perch to admire the cityscape of Yogyakarta. The modern concept restaurant comes with a semi-outdoor rooftop area where visitors can enjoy their meals while taking in panoramic views of the city and countryside.
The view is nice, you can see all the way down from here. The entrance fee is cheap around 15k-20k/person, but there's some spots inside that require you to pay more to take photos (around 10k-20k). The place is too crowded especially in sunset time so consider the time and date. You get a lot of options to eat from snacks to heavy eat (using food truck concept), but they also have their own restaurant.

a beautiful place to spend your time… while enjoying the cool air and a very beautiful view from a height… even better in the afternoon… a more beautiful view of the city while enjoying hot ginger drinks and snacks… unfortunately it was raining during our visit so the view a bit foggy… while waiting for the rain to subside… we had dinner with a variety of menu choices which were quite delicious at a reasonable price… lots of instagrammable photo spots here…

Very good, a worthy tourist attraction. What they actually sell is the view (as it's name) but the food is also delicious and various. They have one main restaurant and some snack bars and also a gift shop. Complete facilities but the prayer room needs an improvement because it can't hold the spectators at the weekend. The main parking area also needs more space. Nice and kind staff. Good service. Affordable entry tickets. The most popular spot is the Skydeck.

Picnic area with lovely mountain view in Jogja. Various food and beverage companies while enjoying the beautiful scenery. Toilets and musholla are also available inside. Parking area on outside. Its windy and be careful sometimes rain can make you difficult.
Dicky Indrawan — Google review
The view is so beautiful and the place is great. If you want to get a good picture, don't go there at the weekend or holidays.
Aida Krisna — Google review
If you want to go to HeHa you can use a motorcycle and ride for 35 to 45 minutes from malioboro, but please remember to bring a warm clothes because the place is quite windy. And of course it is cold. Don't forget to bring an umbrella too because you really don't want to get wet in this place. The facility is great, they have a small mosque, and the decorations is also very good. Unfortunately the restroom looks like not managed that well, and the health protocol is not as strict as other place. But still the scenery is awesome, you can see mountains and Yogyakarta from above, it also become more unreal at night.
Ahyar Afal — Google review
This place is in the mountains to be precise in Jogja, the name is Heha. I like the view because the sunset looks beautiful when viewed from up here. The colors are various mixed into one, it looks very aesthetic. we can get very good photos with this natural sunset background. Besides we can see the sunset, we can also find good photo spots in every corner. There is also a place to eat that provides a variety of food. because the place is in the mountains, I suggest wearing thick clothes so you don't get cold. I hope you guys can also enjoy this beautiful view. This review is purely in my opinion, thank you

Very nice view and ambience. They charge 20,000RP for the entrance fee but still charge extra to take pictures of the attractions there. I get it that they need to earn back their investment but I think it can be handled better. Overall, it's a nice place to visit in Yogjakarta. We didn't eat at the restaurants there as it was raining but I enjoyed my time there.

Khairul Ithma Mahdi — Google review
It has very nice view with many photo spots, but we need to lau extra for some photo spots. It has a restaurant and many food stalls with reasonable price. Entrance fee was 30k/pax.
Grace Tanudjaja — Google review
Actually I went here just to have proper food. But I needed to pay the entrance fee for 20.000 rupiah/person. Well, I dont have any choice. I don't know much about jogja, so I just chose the safest cleaniest restaurant, which is inside Heha sky view. For the photo spot, you need to pay extra money, which I am not sure how much. The food corners are so vibrant, full of colors. Maybe also good for a photo spot. The parking fee is 20,000 rupiah!! So surpisingly expensive! In front of the entrance, I can see jeeps parked, and some staff tried to sell trip products. I tried the package. For a jeep, 4 person max, cost 400,000 rupiah. It is for going into the river, well, shallow river of course, riding a jeep. And if you want someone to take your video, you must pay 20,000 rupiah. They (local people) will take your video and send it to the driver. Then the driver will send it back to you. Do not expect the quality. But it is good enough for a memory.

Air Terjun Kedung Kandang is a stunning waterfall located in Nglanggeran, Gunungkidul. Nestled amidst the locals' rice fields and featuring tiered volcanic rock formations as its base, this natural wonder lies to the south of Mount Api Purba Nglanggeran. To reach the waterfall's beauty, visitors must trek from the parking area through a scenic trail. The site offers picturesque views and is popular for Instagram-worthy photo backdrops.
Let me start by saying this place is the definition of off-the-beaten-path. Most locals don't even care to know where this is. You'll arrive at the start of the hike down to the waterfall where you'll park your car -- bring water and definitely wear your sneakers. This hike down through the rice paddy terraces is no joke, especially in the hot, Indonesian sun. When you get to the waterfall though, you'll totally be amazed by the view. The waterfall itself is cute (make sure you go after it rains to make sure there's actually water flowing...) but the view of the entire valley is stunning. Then, be prepared for the hike back UP.

Traditional, simple, natural ... Clear sign post about the location. Kindly keeper welcome and greet visitors. The parking area are located in front of cows stalls but the toilet clean enough. Nice place to take a rest before going home after hard adventure ... Don't try enter via exit way ... Its seem easier than the entrance way (even motor bike and cars could pass through) but then will be more risky to reach the waterfall ... Plus not get chance to enjoy the panoramic sceneries

Local recipes: fried chicken, fried rice, and noodle mix with vegetables and egg, boiled all at once. Additional pepper is needed for those who love hot food. Beverage: ginger mix with sugar, put together within a glass then add hot water. Mix and ready to drink. Hot and make body fresh. Other beverages are available. Taste, guarantee and prices are affordable.

Foods: Their mie godog is very rich in flavor because they use duck meat. I Love it! I also ate a bit of bakmi goreng (fried noodle) but it was a little bit too sweet for my liking. Drinks: Wedang jahe is my favorite here. There are plenty of grilled ginger pieces in every glass! The teh poci is also good, tastes very traditional. Price: The price was very reasonable! We spent IDR 106,000 for 5 people. Ambience: Typical of a middle-level noodle restaurant in DIY. Location: Cannot be better, it is literally on the side of the biggest road in Wonosari.

By far this is the real hidden gem restaurant that offers authentic Javanese cuisine and still maintain traditional way to cook. Deffinitely a must try if you came to visit Yogyakarta. It is a bit far from the central but it is worth the effort. It has been a while since i ate a really good fried chicken.. and this is the bomb. They use “Ayam Kampung” and slowly broiled at long hours so the meat is very tender. And Bakmi Jawa is also good as they still cook it using charcoal so the aroma really invite your appetite. 😍😍😍

Specialist in Javanese cuisine, the restaurant is located next to Wonosari-Jogjakarta. The foods are good, with some uniques menu such as ingkung chicken, kind of steamed chicken. It wasn’t as I’ve expected, but seem like very well known place to eat. Place was crowded when we’re there, price is ok at least I got to try the local culinary. The taste is quite under note for my liking, very mild way too mild for what I accustomed too. I’m big fan of tempe especially mendoan, but their mendoan is way to greasy and too much of batter unlike the mendoan that I usually ate

Vinda vibes but the food is super pricy???? But tbh the skyline is amazing at night so i guess it makes up for it???

This is a spacious popular cafe on a hill in Patuk District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region with nice decorations and a beautiful night view down to the light festival of Bukit Bintang and Yogyakarta City. A good place for sunset enthusiasts. Various popular dishes with ordinary taste. Clean toilets and musholla (moslem prayer place). Free admission.

It takes 45 minutes drive from Jogja. But you will get dinner with a view. It's not difficult to find the location. The staffs are friendly and greet us properly. They serve good quality of food. For me the price was a bit higher than the average price in Jogja. But very understandable because we also paid for the view hahaha. I love the wedang uwuh. Nasi goreng also yummy, but the portion too big for me. The mendoan I like it so much. Don't forget to capture the moment and take many photos as you like.

Luar biasa. I give 6 stars out of 5! High class looking restaurant with tasty foods. We only ordered nasi goreng but it tasted nice. I think other food would taste even better. We enjoy the surroundings and view. Would love to celebrate my meaningful event here, maybe next time. We're from Malaysia and we're greatful to be there.
