Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market is a traditional market that has been around since 1953 and is highly recommended for visitors. With around 450 stores, the market offers a variety of goods and food options. While it can get crowded, the seafood vendors are particularly popular for their fresh and delicious offerings. Visitors can enjoy watching the lively atmosphere with fresh seafood on display, although some may find the persistent soliciting from merchants to be a bit uncomfortable.
Love the market. Plenty of fresh or dried seafood. They also sell cookies and cakes which you can bought as souvenir. Plenty of stalls selling deep fried prawn, cuttlefish, hotteok, twist doughnuts - to name a few. Will definitely come again.

So many people were there since it was drizzling outside. People seemed to have no umbrella with them.. probably one of reasons why there were so many. I bought a Manseok chicken which looked like a small factory (later on, me and my brother had severe stomachache. Meaning, their oil quality is really bad) ordered and received the chicken less than a minute. A seafood fries were fresh and delicious if I didn't have to wait for 20 minutes after payment..... I took my dogs and business owners seemed really nice to pets. But you can't let them walk on the aisles but carrying them in your arms. Otherwise people will keep stepping on your dog's paw and give him or her a traumatic day or hurting.

It's a wonderful market that sells various seafood commodities and street food. However, it is too crowded and many stalls draw in long queues. Prices are definitely not cheap, in fact a soup dish with side dishes in restaurants are much cheaper than 1 skewered seafood, and some restaurants have plenty of seats available. It's significantly less crowded at Daepo port so I would prefer to go there instead to have seafood dishes. If you do come here, avoid coming in the evening, especially on Friday and weekend.
T Q — Google review
It's a bit crowded. Various restaurants are located in the market. In particular, you can mainly eat sashimi and seafood. It is fun to walk while watching fresh seafood alive. However, it was a bit uncomfortable when passing by because most of the merchants were soliciting. There are quite a lot of famous tempura and crab restaurants, so it was difficult to choose one. It is a mainly tourist destination, so the price of foods are a bit expensive.
Liah Cha — Google review
This is very interesting market place. Most tourists buy take out food for dinner or lunch. There are also some crab restaurants. Imported king crabs tend to be five times more expensive than local crabs. Local vegetable, fish and bread is good quality and good price.
Ari J V — Google review
There's a big multi storey carpark in walking distance, very convenient. The market has lotsa dried seafood, crabs (KRW55k per kg) and street food. We had the fried chicken and it was super yummy! The one we had (many fried chicken stalls) only sell one size KRW22k u can opt boneless or chicken parts with bones- we opt boneless. At one corner is a lady selling porridge and paejeon, we had kimchi paejeon and abalone porridge. Nice for cold weather.
Michelle C — Google review
Well... first of all, it was expensive. It was good because there was a parking lot and it was organized well, but it was a bit disappointing Because they sell similar things. But it was expensive because the economy is not good these days. So I just went to E-Mart.

The market is pretty big but you’ll notice only a few vendors are really busy. Definitely try the seafood vendors they’re really good and you can watch them cook in front of you. What I thought was weird is we went to one place and wanted something and they said it was sold out even though it was on display, and they said everything on display is actually fake. Crazy huh!

Surrounded by pine forest and offering clean and shallow waters during summer season, the beach is perfect for swimming, walking and collecting shells. There are numerous eateries and convenience facilities located nearby as well as a small park with walking trails through pine trees.

Pleasant and clean, with surfboard rentals, a Ferris wheel nearby and an modest assortment cafes and conveniently located guest houses, this is an attractive beach but is unlikely to make anyones list of world class beaches, and not even likely to qualify as one of Korea’s best beaches.
Reginald Williams — Google review
Beautiful beach facing the East Sea! They decorated the pier with colorful lights at night and painted it with fish and crabs. It has fine white sand and close to hotels and restaurants. Don't miss out walking at night or riding the ferris wheel. Also try to wake up early and head over here to watch the sunrise.

Great beach with a beautiful view of a every small island. Frequent fireworks on weekends (not sure about weekdays). Safe area, and you are allowed to pitch a tent on the beach and camp (for FREE!) ... surrounded by many coffee shops and restaurants. Public showers and toilets in the parking area (in the event that you want to camp)

Beautiful scenery. In the summertime it's really busy. Fireworks (but security limits them), night market food stalls, carnival games, and lots of photo ops. Daytime it's packed with families and night time you're not allowed in the water but it's bustling with people out for an evening stroll. Worth visiting in the summertime for day time and night time experiences. They gave public washrooms (really clean), and air or water pumps to clean your shoes or feet once you're out of the sand. Safe, kid friendly, and lots to do/see here.

This beach is very close from Sokcho Express Bus Terminal by 5 minutes walking distance. It's one of the famous beaches among tourists. It has white sand and a Ferris wheel also known as Sokcho Eye that you can ride on to see the beach from the sky. You can enjoy the sand beneath your feet, the smell of salt, the wind that brushes your cheeks, the wave that kisses the shore, and the ocean that makes you feel small.

Expo Tower (엑스포타워) is a must-visit attraction in Sokcho, offering a stunning view of the surrounding area for a nominal entrance fee. Visitors can enjoy the different perspectives of Sokcho from the tower, with daytime and nighttime views providing unique experiences. The park near the tower is perfect for leisurely strolls and relaxation.
If you're in Sokcho you should visit this place; it offers a nice view of the surroundings for only 2,500 won entrance. Unfortunately you can't buy any drinks or food for now. The park near the tower is great for slow walks and relaxation.

It's quite worth to have a short stay here. We came here for the night view, but the time a bit early, so we also have some wall and rest at the park down the tower. The view of morning and night of the tower are different. So after became dark, we bought tickets and go up to see sokcho night view. It's very quiet when we there so we able took a lot of photos at upstairs and there's not so many people. After see the night view, we came down again for it's night time colored tower.

Tower in Sokcho, you can buy a ticket, take an elevator and enjoy the view on Sokcho. However, I think the view from bridge is better since you can see Seoraksan mountains.

Some nice night views of the inner harbor/lake area of sokcho (didn't go at day) but as others have said, the outside of the glass could be clearer. This is not exceptionally tall (for those who fear heights) or expensive/crowded (for those who fear tourist traps). Price was 1500 won and there was no wait for elevators in either direction. At that price, it's definitely still worth a quick trip up!
Brian Reams — Google review
Entrance only $2, great video, beautiful park just across the street. It looks great at night!
Viviana Arroyo — Google review
It's 5,000 won to go up. Good view of the city and mountains, but there isn't much to see. It looks cooler from the outside than inside. If you want a nice panoramic view you'll get one, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

This restaurant is located along a narrow road in front of where the fishermen dock their boats and unload their catches. Walking along this road, you can see many restaurants drying or preparing fish. We ordered the mixed platter dish which came with about six different types of dish and they grill it for you at your table. All of the fish were delicious and tasted fresh. Perfect for a morning meal with a side of hot stew, lunch or dinner. Highly recommend for the quality of food and service.

Must visit! We would have never been comfortable enough to have gone into a place like this without our tour guide. It was hidden and the shop owner came out and walked us into the restaurant. When we walked in, there were servers in there that spoke fluent English and all our worries were left at the door. We sat and told our server how many of us there were. She then proceeded to tell us there was no menu for this place, it was a set menu and they will bring out enough food for us. Out comes a platter of fresh seafood that was probably caught hours ago. We didn't even have to cook the food. They brought out fresh charcoal and our server would come by and cook the fish for us. Easily some of the freshest fish I have ever had! You can really taste the charcoal which added so much flavor to the fish. We had easily 10+ different fish to try and each one blew our taste buds away. We left full and satisfied

The only menu is the set cost 19000Won per person with min 2 pax. Not worth, beside the side dish is considered met the expectation and the fish is fresh, the rest is not worth at all including the portion as shown below is for 38000 Won and the service is not good, not friendly.

Food was really good... you don't often get to eat bbq fish. All the fish were tender and flavorful. You just sit there and the waitress will come place the fish, grill and cut off the burnt sections for you so you just wait and eat. Their kimchee was perfect, pickled peppers were crunchy and flavorful, and service was super quick. Only thing that's slow is the time you wait for your fish to get cooked. We waited in line on an old alleyway and the store's exterior and interior is not maintained, but either way, atmosphere didn't really bother me because the food was good.

This is Korean fish bbq. There is only one menu, selection of fish. Cost is 17000krw per person. Ladies grill the fish in your table. Food is good and plenty. Some fish had small bones which I hate, but I managed to do better what I expected. Staff is helpful but don't expect any small talk or any talk actually. Korean lady had nice North Korean accent and way of talking. Many staff members are from other countries. After Seoul this place feels like being abroad. There is often huge line front of restaurant. Better to take a spot in line before they open for dinner.

Bongpo Meoguri House is an authentic local seafood restaurant located in the Seokcho beach area, known for its delicious and generous portions of seafood dishes. The restaurant offers a variety of options such as mulhoe (spicy sashimi mix bowl) and seafood bibimbap (mixed rice), with fresh ingredients and a refreshing tart tomato-ey soup.

A restaurant where you can eat mulhoe(spicy sashimi mixbowl) and seafood bibimbap(mixed rice). The mulhoe doesn't have a lot of sashimi, but it's delicious. For 2 people, since the quantity is large, it is recommended to order mulhoe for 1 person and add another bibimbap.
Mundo Theatrum — Google review
We walked in past dinner time and it was STILL full of locals sitting around and enjoying gigantic bowls of mukhoe. We got ourselves the following: - seafood and squid mukhoe: comprising a generous portion of abalone, tobiko, sashimi, sea cucumber and various vegetables, this was a very hearty bowl of noodles!! Everything was really fresh and the cold noodles plus tart tomato-ey soup just made everything much more refreshing. Due to us having simpler palates, we enjoyed the squid one more as the seafood one had way too many unknown textures (slightly tough abalone, soft mushy stuff with bones). - uni bibimbap: this was surreal!!! Could’ve done with more uni but even after mixing, we could taste and feel the unctuous uni bits amidst the rice and veggies.

Abalone restaurant
Sokcho abalone seafood casserole is a popular dish in the area, known for its rich and delicious flavor. The casserole typically contains an abundance of clams and raw abalone that quickly cooks in the boiling soup. While some have found the soup to be on the salty side, others have enjoyed its savory taste. The restaurant itself may be a bit secluded, but it offers a great opportunity to savor ear shells and other sea products with family or friends.
I was a bit worried considering the reviews but it was near my hotel so went in the morning. There are only two things on the menu, so naturally we got the most expensive one (~22,500 won) which was the abalone soup. It was absolutely DELICIOUS. Soup had heaps of clams, the abalone is raw but cooks quickly in the boiling soup. There is a rich seafood salty taste and the banchan was good as well. I am so glad we went! Best to catch a taxi there as there’s not much around there.

Great place for enjoy an ear shells (3) and other varieties of shells with some of sea products. You never forget the great taste from the soup in the hot pot. The soup will be salty sometimes. Or you have to remind them not to make to strong or salty. Good for family. But you have to wait to enjoy the food, sometimes more than an hour.

It's a healing place whenever. It's pricey but worth it. If you'd like to enjoy swimming It's the best spot on the summer days.

(Translated by Google) When I first visited after the move, I was disappointed because the taste had changed a bit. I visited again this time and the old taste came back~^^ The price is a bit expensive, but the soup is really refreshing. I ate it when it was 20,000 won, but now it's 22,000 won...ㅜㅜ It seems like there is no choice as prices are rising these days. It's still delicious, so try it even if it's expensive~ It's especially great for hangovers~~ In the past, they kept refilling the salted fish. Now just one episode...ㅜㅜ It's delicious to eat herring roe seaweed with rice~~ The amount is quite large. I feel really full after eating~^^ I enjoyed it because I felt like I had found my old taste again.
