Gdansk

Gdansk is a great city for a weekend getaway. Since it’s away from Poland’s main tourist destinations, Gdansk is less crowded and you can enjoy a uniquely authentic experience. Gdansk is the ancient royal city of Poland, and as such provides a nice mix of modern and medieval. You can enjoy the beautiful old town with its churches, old palaces, towers, and cobbled streets. But there’s also plenty of places to eat, drink and be merry in this Polish destination.

This museum is dedicated to documenting the history of Solidarity, a prominent trade union movement in Poland. It has exhibits on the dedication of Solidarity to freedom and democracy and its role in ending Communism throughout Europe. The museum is free to enter and there are various facilities available such as a library, conference halls, playground, and terrace.
This is a great museum. It was large and had signs in English and Polish. The staff were very friendly! The museum in itself was great. A large number of displays that provided a deep view in the Polish communism and the uprise and rebel of the polish people. This is perfect after going to the WWII museum to provide a more modern understanding of Poland’s history. The interactive displays are great. They also did an excellent job of combining displays with recreates of rooms and places etc. They emerge you into the environment creating an excellent experience. The exhibits provide a great in-depth view to life in the war! This is a must stop if you are in Gdańsk!!!

If you only have time to visit one museum in Gdańsk, CHOOSE THIS ONE! We absolutely LOVED this museum, it truly blew us away. The audio tour was outstanding, so easy to follow, so informative and well laid out. My husband knew very little about the solidarity movement and walked out so amazed. The interactivity of the museum is excellent and again, so easy to follow. You are completely immersed in the time period and transported to each moment through both audio and visual prompts. More museums should use this as a model. Highly, highly recommend.

SOLIDARNOST (Solidarity) - a very powerful, emotional and meaningful word in Poland. And, for a good reason. I must admit despite excellent reviews I entered the museum with low expectations. Coming from a similar country I knew pretty much about the events that initiated changes in eastern Europe. However, after the first 15 min I was blown away and enjoyed the rest of my visit to maximum. Museum is located north from old town Gdansk, just aside the entrance to the shipyard where it all began. In front of it is a monument of 3 huge crosses with anchors on top of them to commemorate the victims of the first strike from Dec 1970. Interesting fact is that it was erected in 1980, still during communist oppression, and therefore is considered first such monument built during communist regime, but when Solidarnost gained some rights. Museum architecture is amazing - ultra modern edifice with rust like modern facade resembling ship's body. Interior is a huge atrium like open space with glass and greenery resembling freedom. From there, excellent audio guide takes you on a tour through several levels. I rarely take audio guides as they're sometimes boring, with unnecessary facts and sometimes difficult to understand. This one is state of the art - you don't need to do anything. It automatically tells you stories (easy understanding and with interesting and important facts) depending on your position where you are, and tells you the way you should go. Apart from the audio guide, there are so many interesting exhibits, short movies, hands-on displays, articles from newspapers, pictures, personal items,.... If you have any interest in that part of Europe history, I strongly advise you to visit this museum. Count on around 2 hours for a proper visit. Congratulations Poles on your will and strength to fight communism oppression and big respect to SOLIDARNOST

I really liked this museum. Learned a lot about Polish history and the Solidarity Union. The audio guide was great. Spent much more time here than expected. One tip: the audio guide also has an interesting part if you take it with you on the roof terrace.

Awesome place, buy with the audio tour, it triggers when you are in certain points and guides you through. Lots to see. Anyone with an interest in freedom, human rights, free speech should see it (and all jaded politicians to remember what happens when you don't listen to the people)

Awesome place everyone must be visiting on their trip to Gdansk. Personally, I'm not a fan of audio guides but for this exhibition I highly recommend it since it is planned perfectly and the guide is interactive with the rooms. Long tour takes about 2.5-3 hours where the short one lasts 1 hour less. Nothing more, anybody who is concerned for these solidarity values would be in love with the place after the visit. Go and check here out immediately, you won't be disappointed!

I usually don’t use audio guides in museums and just prefer to read the texts in the walls. However, this museum changed my mind about that. It was one of the few highlights in my visit to Gdansk and a must see if you are in town.

Great museum! In two hours you can learn a lot about the Solidarity movement in Poland and how create the domino to make communism fall down. Really worth a visit there

I really enjoyed this museum. Tickets very cheap and definitely the best audioguide experience I have had in a museum anywhere, it just worked so well. A really interesting insight into trade unionism and workers rights in Poland, powerful and inspiring

An extremely underrated museum: as someone who grew under the Commonwealth high school history curriculum, we learned about the Solidarity Movement as a footnote without much explanation. However this interactive museum told its visitors the origins, development and aftermath of the movement and how life under the communist regime was like. Everything was presented in English. Don't forget to visit the less visited hall nearby where the Solidarity Movement was made.
Andrew Wong — Google review
A must-see museum dedicated to modern Polish history & "Solidarity", the Polish civil resistance movement against Communist regime. The building itself is very modern, accessible and easy to navigate and the permanent exhibition has huge amount of exhibits. There are also many interactive parts of the exhibition. Great place to learn more about the modern history about Poland (and Europe) and about the struggle for freedom in Communist Eastern Europe. You can buy tickets online to skip the queue and the audioguide (comes with individual ticket) is very informative.

Absolutely recommended for visiting when being in Gdańsk. It takes 2-2.5 hours to see, read and listen to the audio guide and get inspiration by the exhibition. I loved that place for its price as well. I paid 10 zł and was completely satisfied after. I’m really glad to know that there are places like this one! I was very interested in learning more about the formation of democratic Poland

The European Solidarity Centre in Gdańsk is a beacon of historical remembrance and contemporary enlightenment. Its extensive exhibitions transport you back in time, providing a profound insight into the Solidarity Movement. The architecture is a symbol of industrial heritage, while the green rooftop symbolizes hope. Each corner tells a story of resilience, making it a riveting, educational journey. The staff's dedication enriches the experience, making it a must-visit epitome of Poland's enduring spirit.

The place was great! I didn’t expect it to be this good but I absolutely loved it. The temporary exhibition was a bit boring though but I really loved the main one and the audio guide was really nice.

Firstly I visited here for my free time without a big expectation. I bought a ticket there and went through the museum with an audio tour device. Since it was my first time in Poland, I had not known some historical events well. Throughout the tour, I could get to know how Poland could turn into democracy from communism by some tragic but honorable events. Thanks to this, I feel I could keep enjoying my travel in Poland.

Very enlightening - very moving. Almost mindblowing. The story of how the changes for the shipyard workers came into being, and the troubles ahead of 1980, is just fascinating and heartbreaking. Recommend to anyone to whom humanity, democracy and peace matters.

Museums
This modern museum is dedicated to the Polish experience during WWII. It contains shocking exhibits about the Holocaust and the Sovietization of Europe.
An impressive museum which tells the story of the Second World War with considerable clarity. The staff were friendly and the museum was generally very easy to navigate. My visit lasted around three hours and there was plenty to see in terms of videos, exhibits and text. Everything was available in English and lots of thought has been put into the design of the museum. Will likely revisit in the future.

I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about visiting this museum because it seems like Poland spends lots of money on World War II memories instead of investing millions in present happier projects. However, I was impressed with what I experienced. 🎫 So, I got online tickets, and there was no waiting line. It's recommended to visit this place at 3:00 pm at the latest because it takes around 2-3 hours to see everything without rash. 🎧 Audioguide - recommend because it's nicely synchronized with the area you enter. The history is presented very well, and the interior made me feel like time-travel at that time. I would say that it's worth visiting this museum at least once. It's a great piece of work—a very professional and international-level museum. ⭐️

The Museum of the Second World War left a profound impression on me. I spent nearly five hours there, engrossed in the detailed and comprehensive exhibits. The audio guide was fantastic, providing valuable insights into the context, lead-up, and events of the war. The museum's respectful and non-biased approach allowed me to learn a lot and gain a comprehensive understanding of the war's complexities. It was a remarkable educational experience that highlighted the importance of learning from history and appreciating the sacrifices made during that time.

The Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk is an exceptional and honorable place of historical and tragic memories. Its organization is truly remarkable, making it one of the best organized museums I have ever encountered! From its in-depth exploration of the root causes of the war to its meticulous depiction of the events and nations involved, the museum provides invaluable information. It is a rewarding and informative destination, a must visit when you are in Gdansk. This space allows us not only to never forget this event but also to honor all those who endured the atrocities of this time. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all those who participated in the creation of this museum and who diligently ensure the maintenance of this singular and remarkable place.

You need to set aside 4+ hours. We purchased our tickets but forego the audio option as I had already read a post saying not required. There is a free cloakroom for outerwear - great idea. There is lots to see, read and hear. Very moving in places. Started reading and listening to as much as I could but after 2 hours, it became a bit of a struggle. There is only so much you can absorb however we were only half way through. By the time we left we had been inside the exhibit for 4 hours. There are toilets half way. Would suggest taking some liquid refreshment, which we had not. Probably why I started to struggle. There is a cafe on leaving and more toilets. The permanent exhibition is on the lowest level and there are a few steps down but also a lift. It is 29 PLN Zloty each for entry (approx £6 pp). Well worth the visit. Not suitable for children due to the amount of time you need to spend walking around.
Sarah McGregor — Google review
A fantastic museum giving an indepth insight into the second world War from the Polish experience of it. The museum is packed full of exhibits well displayed. My only wish would have been that the cafe had been inside with the exhibits as it took over 3 hours to go around and a pause would have been good. We definitely recommend a visit.
Beans — Google review
A beautifully designed, modern, emotional journey through WW2. In depth exhibits and clearly marked touring directions. Definitely worth a visit. The only downside is the lack of reception as the main exhibit floor is underground, which could be a problem to some as thoroughly touring the museum can take an upward of 4 hours.

Highly detailed museum covering all aspects of WWII. Taking you from the background of the First World War through to rise of totalitarian and the war itself. Everything was well presented in Polish and English. It covers a tragic and very sad period of history in a well balanced way. You need to allow plenty of time for this museum.

This reminded us of Oskar Schindler's Factory in Krakow. Enjoyed the exhibitions of various items. Had no idea that tanks were so big nor that the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima, had been given a name. A must see experience in Gdansk.

Nice and modern building. Full of historical moments and well explained details. Satisfied with the clean and calm atmosphere. Really recommend going there during weekdays. We're almost none and less stressful from the weekends. The cloak room worker told us that and we could confirm that

Detailed explanation of the events prior and during world war II. Excellent audio guide - highly recommended. Very immersive exhibition with good combination of new media, video presentations, touch screen documentation and war objects. Very emotional.

Every Tuesday free museum entry. This museum is very informative. It covers entire spend of WW2. Well designed and organized exhibitions halls. Well worth entry cost if you are unable to visit it on a free day. It will take you about 2-3 hours to go over most of the material this museum has to offer. Some materials presented show killings and murder, so please consider this before taking young kids.

It's hard for me to describe this place. I'm curious and scared at the same time. Perhaps the creators of this and tried to achieve. The museum is quite large, it will take several hours, but I highly recommend finding them and seeing everything here. Poland was almost the most affected country in this war, and all the pain is perfectly conveyed here, probably in no other museum related to the war (except concentration camps) there is such detail. It is a pity that this place exists, but the past cannot be changed, all that can be done now is to visit it.
Roman Trach — Google review
Visiting this beautiful gives you mixed feelings, gives you a sense of pleasure of how accurately the world war II has happened, how it happened and what impact it had in people, but on other hand it provides you with a sinking feeling of how actions by select few can impact lives of so many and how it leaves lasting impression on how we live. Great presentation of facts and it does show how much impact has been created for Poland as an nation and remembering the unsung Poland heroes. Not to be missed. great place to visit.

Great place to revisit the history of wwii from Poland's perspective. The rooms are sequenced in a way you can follow along. I wish i had more time to read all the text but had to run to catch the flight. Would love to visit this museum again when i am back in Gdansk. Pretty cheap entry ticket at around 6 usd.

Unreal museum. So much history in one place. As a fan of this period, I was amazed by the way this era was portrayed. A lot can be learned and seen. Everything is very neat and orderly, so you can't skip anything. The museum is very crowded, so be prepared to be patient to see some of the exhibits. The ticket is around 4 euros and you can buy it directly there because there are a lot of counters and they are very fast. Also, you have free lockers to leave your things so that you can comfortably enjoy the museum.

Really interesting and well laid out Museum. Can be quite busy so may need to go round a few times to see everything. Staff there were friendly and extremely helpful. Great museum in Gdansk, really worth a visit. It's something we can never forget. I did a strong impression on myself. Make sure you have at least 2-2,5 hours so you really can enjoy the exhibition. I went there on a Tuesday, apparently there's no admission on Tuesdays. The staff is very friendly and helpful. So if in town please visit this museum. You'll not regret it.

It’s not worth spending time at this museum. There are different rooms with different sections of the history. It’s basically a Wikipedia on the wall with lot of posters. There’s no traffic flow in the museum, no clear sign. People having trouble locating the exit. The staffs are rude. Tuesday is free.

The Battle of Westerplatte on 1 September 1939 was the opening battle of World War II. A small Polish force defended the peninsula against a German invasion, and eventually held off the Germans for seven days. In 1966, a monument to their bravery was erected there.
Beautiful memorial to the starting place of World War II.Many historical buildings and memorials. After the climb to the top of memorial there is a beautiful panoramamic view. Walking down you can walk to another beautiful view of the Baltic Sea and coast. Free and stunning views worth the trip.

Busy but nice area to walk, but surely sad because of the bloody print around it. However most of the information panels are vandalized so it's hard to get any information (in English). We spent around 1-2h walking around. There is a paid parking but you need cash for that so we were lucky to find a street parking free of charge since we don't carry cash around.

Large park with lots of historical content. I would highly recommend coming here during your stay in Gdańsk. There are shops and food here, as well as public toilets.
Kat — Google review
Being a history buff or not, the sole fact the world's bloodiest conflict ever began here, deserves your attention and imo your need to come here and visit it, as in some way everyone of us was affected by the horror of WWII. Westerplatte is located north from Gdansk, some 15 min drive from downtown on a small flat peninsula stretching out into the Baltic sea. By the bus stop is a carpark (they told me it was free, maybe because it was Sunday, but double check), which was close to monuments and attractions. You can also come by bus, but we had our rented car which was cheap and convenient for us as we explored north Poland, driving as far as Wolf's Lair which is 3 hrs one way. From the historic point of view main attractions are the ruined former barracks, the Polish defenders Memorial grave site with a Cross, and of course, the huge vertical monument to the defenders, which is on top a small hill reachable via circular pathway. Besides these, there's a kind of a scattered open air museum with info panels here and there, in both, Polish and English, explaining the history. I must admit I was disappointed with that, as imo such a place deserves a proper covered small museum dedicated to this site, and therefore I deduct one star. Apart from the historic background Westerplatte is a nice nature area, as it stretches along the coast with a pleasant walkway by the sea and right across the Monument is a busy port with ferries to Sweden

It as an amazing place that shows the bravery of Polish soldiers who withheld the overwhelming power of the German Wehrmacht for far longer than it was expected from them. The struggle of the polish soldiers is an example of outstanding bravery. It also shows the cruelty of war as the German troops advanced killing thousands of office workers, clerks, postal workers etc.

A very important place for history. The facility is under modernization. Additional places will be available to visit in some time. Well-described facilities. There may be no clear indication of which way to go at road intersections.

Value of this place is more in the historical perspective than the view or park to visit. There are a lot of guide tours here explaining how Poland was occupied by Germany and Soviet Russia and not all guilty sides were punished.

For history buffs this place is a very special visit. We loved to be there where it all started and to be able to visualize how it happened. Fairly easy to get there by bus and has food stands, and toilets. There are no admission fees except one building. I didn’t mind paying the 10zl. to go inside one of the buildings because the exhibit was worth it.

Good viewing point with massive history lesson about II WW. Visiting leftovers of bombarded building gives little chill! What's worth mentioning there is no possibility to buy bus tickets there so either you need to walk back ( very long walk back to civilisation), take a ferry - costs 10x the bus fare or buy ticket online which if U don't have internet is not possible.

The name Westerplatte (formerly West Platte) comes from the German language. West means "western" and platte means "plate" (meaning "island"). So Westerplatte means "western island". The name was kept because it became a symbol of the struggle for freedom. In the years 1926–1939, Westerplatte was an enclave of the Republic of Poland within the territory of the Free City of Gdańsk. In the interwar period, the Military Transit Depot operated here in Westerplatte, whose defense in September 1939 became a symbolic beginning of World War II and Polish resistance against the aggression of the Third Reich.

City Hall
The Main Town Hall, in the heart of the city, is a beautiful gothic-renaissance edifice. It's one of the most underrated Gdansk attractions, with sumptuous state rooms in the Dutch Mannerist style.
Gdańsk Main Town Hall is a historic Ratusz located in the Gdańsk Main City borough of Śródmieście. It is one of the finest examples of the Gothic-Renaissance historic buildings in the city, built at the intersection of Ulica Długa and Długi Targ, in the most popular part of Gdańsk. The Main Town Hall in Gdańsk houses the History Museum of the City of Gdańsk. The oldest fragments of the town hall come from 1327 to 1336 - the building was then much smaller in size, which led to its expansion in the subsequent years. In the fourteenth-century the Main City of Gdańsk was reconstructed, and in 1346 replaced the then enforced Lübeck law with the Kulm law. The reform had separated the roles of the city council and ława miejska (which was responsible for the judiciary). The separation of the two bodies led to the need for two separate halls for the two institutions. In 1357, in the location of the current town hall, a temporary town hall was located. The first major expansion of the building began in 1378, after the full Kulm law was given to the city. The expansion of the building was led by Henryk Ungerdin, and the reconstruction was complete in 1382. Between 1454 and 1457, with the relation of the arrival of King Casimir IV Jagiellon, the town hall was expanded. The town hall's tower was complete in the years of 1486-1488; the building of which was led by Henryk Hetzel. The tower was completed by Michał Enkinger, with a high dome in 1492, which had burnt down in 1494. In 1504, the town hall was visited by King Alexander Jagiellon. After a fire in 1556, the town hall was rebuilt and expanded with Renaissance influences by Dutch architects and master-builders, including Wilhem van den Meer, Dirk Daniels, and Anthonis van Obbergen. In 1561, a gilded statue of the then reigning Polish King Sigismund II Augustus was placed at the top of the tower and a carillon was installed in the tower. Heavily damaged in WW2, with the loss of the top of the tower, it was carefully repaired and reconstructed, largely complete by 1952.

The reduced ticket price for students was 18 Zloty as I remember and it was worth it. There are 4 floors of the museum, each has different things to offer. I recommend to start exploring city with this spot. You will need around 30-40 minutes for this place to see everything very slow and calm.

I didn't go inside but from the outside it has really decorative outside with a really nice tower. It has 27 bells which play a different tune every hour which you can hear throughout the city. It does go on for longer but google only allows 30 second video

St. Mary's Gate is a red-brick structure with origins dating back to the 15th century, reconstructed after World War II and adorned with the Gdańsk coat of arms. It serves as one of the main entrances to Gdansk and provides access to the picturesque cobbled Mariacka street. The gate is best viewed from Granary Island across the river, where visitors can admire its Gothic style and restored polychrome featuring two lions holding the city's coat of arms.

Their simple and stylish interior allows for easy conversation, making it the perfect spot for a romantic meal or special occasion.
Great steaks, perfectly cooked and very tasty. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a higher end steak dinner in Gdańsk. The apple pie was a very tasty desert. The corn on a cob and mashed potatoes were very tasty.

Instant five out of five stars. Best steakhouse and restaurant in the entire city of Gdańsk. Great, exceptional service, the food tasted so great, and the staff here are very nice, hospitable, and friendly. More into detail, the steak tartare (my first time trying it by the way) tasted so darn great, the bread and sauce that came with it was outstanding, the fries were pretty good, and the new york cheesecake was uniquely shaped and it tasted so darn good. Even better, it was so nice that the staff gave me a cherry shot. Out of all the staff, the woman with the glasses and the beautiful nails was the one that gave me the most exceptional service ever, much to my strong gratitude. Even though my girlfriend lives far away, perfect place for couples. Definitely recommend this place right off the bat. And if I want but if I can, I'll definitely come back.

6/5 An amazing experience!!!! The meat was the best I've ever tasted. The whole dish was tasty and well thought out. If you want an atmospheric evening and delicious food, try it. You certainly won't be disappointed. We were both very pleased. The wine is wonderful, the meat even more wonderful ❤️

This was a truly amazing restaurant, the food was just perfect, steak cooked to perfection the chef can be really be very proud of the work everything came out exactly right, my partner likes her steak well done and it was and I like mine blue (walking) and it was. Lovely food, lovely atmosphere and our waiter knew his job to perfection, knew when to come over to us and knew when to let us alone. 10 out of 10, you will not be disappointed if you eat here.

The food was great as was our waiter! Menu also had a English option! Will definitely come back! Great service and great food! Absolutely loved all of it but my favorite was the calamari and the onions on my burgers!

We were with a group of 10, and a lot of us ordered the triple staek (3 small pieces of different steaks) and they were nicely cooked as we ordered different degrees off medium. And they came all kind of together so we could enjoy the meal together.

Excellent service, delicious food. They served homemade bread & tomato paste while waiting, which was incredibly tasty and thoughtful. Recommend it 100%

Very good steak house. I recommend solomillo ( polędwicę) and T bone steak. For a starter we had beef carpaccio and tartare - both delicious 😋

I ordered the tenderloin. The meat was a bit tough to cut and chew but it did not lack in flavor. The calamari is a must try though. The atmosphere is nice and the waiters are quite professional. It's not exactly a big restaurant

Incredible ! I took the ribeye with a mushroom sauce and the homemade fries. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly, the sauce was so good. And the homemade fries perfect. Honestly it was to die for! My mum took the pasta with the anchoie even tho it's a steak house. She said it was really good and was so full. I love beef, I eat a lot of red meat and I can safely say it was the best meat I've ever had. Also I'd like to thanks to waitress ! She was really kind, was there to see if we needed anything else. I'd like to thanks also the kitchen for the delicious meal. We will come back !

Asked for medium rare all of us and none got it right. Two got medium/done and one got it well done. The fries was better on Mcdonalds. Sauces was ok but avoid the béarnaise (it did only taste yolk)

Shopping mall
Shopping
This large, upmarket shopping centre was built on wasteland in 2018 and is linked to the Gdansk Srodmiejsce SKM station. It has a range of global brands, as well as around 20 eateries. The mall is brightly lit and spacious and there are plenty of greenspaces for you to relax in.
Uniquely designed mall. Beautiful scenery. Shops have everything you could need. Parking garage is also great. Have numbers and lights to easily identify where to park. Saves time and headaches while parking
Bobby Simon — Google review
Some fantastic shops in this Mall. It was so impressive, far better than anything we have in England! So much to choose from in all the clothes shops. Lots of places to eat, for all dietary choices👍😋 It was very clean inside. Plenty of toilets on each floor level👍 Easy to access building, if you had a wheelchair or families with a pushchair.

I recently visited Forum Gdańsk and was really impressed! It's a bright, contemporary, and spacious mall with a wide variety of stores and restaurants. The mall is also very clean and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend Forum Gdańsk to anyone looking for a great shopping experience in Gdańsk.

Beautiful shopping centre located in the centre of Gdansk just a couple minutes walk from the old town, the shopping centre itself is clean and tidy with lots of businesses. Absolutely a shopping centre to recommend if you're in the area looking for something to buy.

Located at the city centre in Gdansk, Biggest mall with a variety of commercial Shopping stores, Dine and wine experience at the roof top of this forum Mall is a really fantastic one. Can access through Tram, City busses and walkable distance from old town.

This is a very decent size mall that is very much to my liking! It isn't too big or too small that I can't finish navigating around the mall. There is a gym in it, how convenient. The food hall is great, always easy to find spaces to sit down, cinema if you want to catch up on some films. It also has lots of greens in it! Reminds me of Singapore's Marina Bay Sands with the river in the middle.
Nevins Chan — Google review
🛍️Beautifully set over (literally on top of) the river canal that flows through it, Forum shopping centre is well equipped and clean establishment. The layout might be a tat confusing but you can get a hang of it pretty quickly. 💷 The stores range from your standard TKMAX, all the way up to posh jewellery merchants. Everyone can find something that is of interest to them. ☕🍑🌭 Dining options are plentiful, just visit the food court section, clearly marked on te map. 🏛️ I need to comment on the architecture as it's something that immediately catches your eye when visiting. Have a look!
Marcin Kuna — Google review
One of the best shopping malls on the Polish Riviera. A large selection, a lot of space, since the weather in this region is usually rainy, you can also shop there and just spend time at the food court. Near the center of the old town of Gdansk and the transport interchange. Large parking lot.
Arkadiy K — Google review
One of the best malls I've ever been to. Life in a village never showed me that these kind of centres exist. It has restaurants lined up one after the other. There are many clothing stores, mobile shops etc. And a cool river inside of it. Negative: The supermarket is not that big, it has a good selection of candy and dairy products though.

Impressive! One of the coolest malls I've visited. It's quite large, and has so many different choices of places to visit. Food selection is presented with many popular spots like KFC, Mc Donald's, etc. Plenty of choices of clothes as well. The most impressive is the small river that flows through the mall, and the way it's designed to be open and modern is impressive.

American restaurant
The Hard Rock Cafe in Gdansk is a fantastic place for a high-energy restaurant experience with classic American favourites. The service is great, the food is tasty and hearty, and the atmosphere is lively and exciting. It's ideal for any group of friends or family looking to have some fun together while eating great food.
I tried the rhythm and rose mule and a hurricane. Both were very tasty drinks if you’re looking for something a little more fancy than basic cocktails they definitely satisfy. The twisted chick and Mac was very tasty the garlic bread was a great side. Overall amazing experience and if you are a fan of Hard Rock Cafes this is a must stop!!

I can definitely recommend this place. The food was amazing. It looked good but also tastes very nice. The server got a table for us upon arrival. He was extremely friendly. Without us asking he told us his name, where bathrooms are located and brought us the menus. The fact that the server presents themselves with their name makes it feel more personal and exclusive. Food arrived without much delay. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.
Ole Halvor Lindtveit Bergan — Google review
We love this place for its atmosphere and service, but the food and drinks are not of the highest standard. We ordered a burger with an onion ring, the cutlet was very juicy and tasty, but the burger used very little sauce and this made the buns very dry and we didn’t want to eat them. I also ordered lemonade with basil, I really love sweet and sour drinks, but this lemonade was an exception because it was so sickly sour that I couldn’t drink it and asked to remake it. The waiter who served us made every effort to make our stay comfortable and I thank her for that!

Hard Rock Cafe is always a good idea (not the best but good), especially in Gdańsk! Firstly, the restaurant is located in the very centre, in an old atmospheric house; secondly, the prices are lower than the average European and American prices; thirdly, compared to other Polish restaurants of local cuisine, there are no surprises here and quality control is also there! Plus there is often live music at Thursdays & Sundays. A little thing : waiters always give the furthest and baddest table, even if the hall is empty. Feel free to choose for yourself the place YOU like!

We arrived for a late lunch having had an awful experience in another local restaurant. A really welcoming and friendly atmosphere, great service and nice food. We felt reassured that food allergies are treated seriously there, when the manager came to discuss the selected gluten free option. There is a separate kids menu which also got thumbs up. Nice decor with interesting music memorabilia. I'd recommend this if you are looking for a family friendly place with a good vibe and service.

3/5 stars Dry ribs but good BBQ sauce, Soggy fries with bacon and cheese got them swapped at the end after ordering a dessert and explaining I was not satisfied with how soggy they were. The replacement I got tasted good! The burgers were a bit dry as well with not enough sauce. The Dessert was a Valentine's Day Sunday to share and it was full of cream and dry bad-tasting cookies with only a little bit of ice cream and way less fruit than in the advertisement pictures on the menu. The only thing that helped our experience was the nice atmosphere and good service from our server Gosha.

I was shocked by good quality. We came with a group of 5 people from work. We had stakes, some burgers, maccaroni cheese with chicken breast, some drinks and deserts. The food was delicious. Not a long time waiting around 20 minutes. Good service from Magda, the waitress. We got some souvenirs from shop downstairs. The final bill for 5 mains, desserts, and drinks was around 700zl.

Hamburger restaurant
Restaurant
When it comes to burgers, Original Burger is the place to go in Gdańsk. From their varied menu, you're sure to find the perfect burger for your taste. Plus, with some great beers and cocktails on offer, this restaurant is a great place to spend a few hours.
Everything was decent not the best burgers I’ve had, but pretty good. The sides were the tastiest part of my meal. I order The Godfather burger it was great had a lot of meat and fairly tasty sauce the salad was excellent along with the coleslaw. The potato balls were tasty. Only real complaint is you can’t order ketchup online. I don’t know whether they offer it in person but that would have stepped up the meal slightly. I recommend trying them out though as everything was fair priced.
Maksim Blair — Google review
Godfather and old school burgers are very good, but bit too salty. I liked Godfather more, my friend liked the other one because of the bbq sauce in Godfather. Fries not so tasty. Onion rings are great. Potato cheese balls are nice. Recommended.

Original Burger has a great location in the tourist Center of Gdańsk. We even got to listen to a great street concert while we were there. Burgers, Fries but also fish fingers were excellent! Only reason not to give 5 stars is that we had to wait more than 30 mins for our order to arrive.

I had a classic beef burger with french fries and a bowl of coleslaw on the side along with a wheat beer. The burger was definitely one of the best burgers, if not the best, I had in last 6 months. The bun is quite different than classic buns. It is so soft and tasty. The patty was quite delicious and juicy. All in all, it was a quite good experience. Highly recommended. I paid 54 Zloty for everything.

Nice place, not too crowded and great staff - our waitress Kamila was awesome. Moreover, the food was served fast and prices are quite moderate. One thing to improve on - Original Burger could expand their selection of beers. Include some sours, stouts and IPAs and not only those from Amber. Amber is a great brewery, but there are many more craft breweries that produce bottled and canned beer.

Popped in here (thinking of getting just a quick bite to eat for lunch) and left so unbelievably stuffed full! The burgers were amazing, they had a deal on: a burger + 2 sides and a drink, for practically the same price as a burger on its own. Really good value for money. It was quiet given the time that we came in, so I can't speak for the atmosphere during peak times, but the decor of the place was quirky and cool, and the staff were friendly. Highly recommend, would definitely come back again when I hopefully return to Gdansk! Thank you

Pierogarnia Stary Młyn is a popular dumpling restaurant in the city of Gdansk. The food is unbelievably delicious and the portions are huge! The service is also good.
Tried the liepochy. Dough style baked treats - savoury. Absolutely delicious. Also tried the herb tea - comes with three jams. Rose was a favourite. Ordered potato pancakes. All good comes in savoury and sweet versions. Service was v good, but be prepared to wait.

We were looking for the best pierogi place in Gdańsk and I think we found it! We tried a few different ones, the spicy beef with the honey mustard sauce was my favourite. We also tried their vodka tasting board (tomato vodka! 🍅) and it was amazing! I normally hate vodka but these were deliciously smooth and easy to drink (maybe a bit too easy to drink!). Highly recommend.

Nice local place, very popular around dinner, we was very lucky with last free table. Good atmosphere and decorations. Food was also good - the selection is overwhelming but the staff is very nice and happy to help you with right choice. I had selection of pierogies, the spicy pork one was best. Prices was little bit high for my taste but for one time visit it was ok.

While walking around Gdansk one night, found this restaurant and told my sister I was interested in visiting. We were not disappointed. The food and atmosphere were amazing! She had boiled pierogi's and I had them baked. The flavor was phenomenal! If I lived in Gdansk, I would be a regular. It's near St. Mary's Basilica; if you find yourself in Gdansk make plans for a meal here. It was a fantastic experience!

Just had a lovely meal here after a couple of recommendations in regards to this place. Absolutely brilliant service, great knowledge from the waitress that attended our table, and the food was impeccable to say the least. I saw some reviews moaning about waiting for the food and atmosphere, but they clearly have no clue about good food or service. Things take time, and they did meet all the standards. We had a mix of both oven baked and boiled (pan-fried) pierogi, with sauces and whatnot and it was a great experience. We'll recommend this place the same way it was recommended to us: come and eat like you're having dinner at your auntie's. Can't go wrong!

This place is very popular among Poles and tourists. I was here at the end of September, when the tourist season had already ended. However, I had to queue for over an hour outside. Good thing the weather was good. But having accepted the order, the waitress disappeared for another hour and a half, until we began to resent and demand attention. The food was excellent, specific, with a large selection of dishes. I really liked kvass. As a result, fatigue from such a long wait ruined my appetite.
Dr. Olena Berezovska — Google review
All in all, it is a very good restaurant that serves typical homemade polish cuisine. The dumplings (do not remember the exact polish name) tasted very well and were different from what I knew from former visits to Poland. Only the salad with poultry liver was a bit strangely spiced for our understanding. The very negative point was the staff as the service was very slow. I do not want to be unfair as the restaurant was full. But we waited about 20 min for taking the order after several requests what is a bit unusualin our experience. The same became relevant for paying the bill at the end. Bottomline, recommendation due to the food quality, however, there is room for improvement in terms of service. PS, we liked the style of the restaurant interior a lot.

Very nice restaurant whose specialty is dumplings of every kind: traditional (that means boiled) or baked or sweet ones. We had duck dumplings and a dish with a mix of different kinds of dumplings. Very good value for money.

Passable pierogi, no epiphany but won’t leave you hungry. Potatoe pancakes to get avoided though. Definitely not homemade unless throwing raw potatoes into a mixer with some flour is to be considered home cooking.. Soups weren’t too good either. Service was fine.

This place ticks all the right boxes when it comes to finding an authentic Polish restaurant. The farm/countryside aesthetic fits the theme and the homely comfort food so well. With a vast array of dishes to choose from, you will definitely find something delicious to enjoy. They have various meat options as well as vegetarian options, and the food comes out reasonably quick. The cocktails, drinks, and service are also top-notch. Although the servers are quite young, you don't normally expect young servers to have such a great caliber of service experience. Thank you for the great food and an amazing time. We hope to come back to Gdansk many times and come back to your restaurant as soon as possible.

The place decorations from outside outstanding made me wanna be inside and try and the interiorfrom inaide so authentic and cozy when it comes to food the boiled Pierogi were my favorite as they are like dumplings . Had the baked one only the meat were delicious but the spinach one not so much. Had a potato pancakes were ok taste for me . But the one thing you have definitely to try is the goat cheese salad was just wow mixture of flavors with plums, grapes and sauce was 100/10 . Pay attention when you go not to be very hungry coz the food take time 50 minutes to be served

Our first day in Gdansk yesterday and we stumbled upon this place for lunch. The Pierogi were delicious and Kasper was brilliant, suggesting the best flavour combinations to try. Very quick fixing a small issue where they'd mixed up the filling in a couple too. Cocktails lovely as well and the decor great. Will hopefully be back before we leave. Thanks Kasper.

This was our first time trying Pierogis and we were not disappointed, they were fantastic! We also ordered the Potato cake filled with stew which was also nice. The only slight issue we had was the wait time on the food. Despite this, we would highly recommend it!

The oven baked pierogis and the boiled ones are both very, very, very tasty 🫠💜 The menu offers a lot of typical polish dishes and the amount and prices are good. ☝🏻What I didn't like was the lack of professionalism of the waiter: it took him 40 minutes to bring us one of the dishes (he had forgotten!). ‼️We had to remind him three times that we have a nut allergy (and he still brought us the bread with nuts) and he removed our cutlery before the last plate arrived. A disappointment.
Marta Bellés — Google review
My friend and I wrapped up our two-day trip to Gdańsk with dinner at this restaurant. It was highly recommended online so we gave it a try. We ordered their white borscht soup, vegetable soup, megamiks (3 oven-baked and 4 boiled pierogi, with a mix of meat and vegetable fillings), and their bigos. The food was okay, not life-changing, but has large servings and is a good introduction to Polish cuisine. The drinks we had were also just okay (lemoniada and kompot). However, we really appreciated the excellent service of their staff Hania. She was attentive, pleasant, and friendly all throughout our meal. We went without reservation on a Saturday evening and got lucky we were seated without waiting for too long. It’s better to reserve a table beforehand. Overall, it was a good experience dining at this restaurant.
