Santander

Santander is a city in the north of Spain, on the Atlantic Ocean. It's a wonderful place to visit, with beaches and sunsets, great food and hundreds of free things to do. The Centro Botín is a very large and modern art museum in Santander. It was designed by famous architect Renzo Piano and contains a lot of beautiful art. It's a great place to visit if you're interested in art.
Designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, Centro Botín adds a modern charm to Santander. Take the “singing” elevator to the top floor for stunning views of the Bay of Biscay and the mountains. We were fortunate enough to visit on a day with clear skies and could see the snow topped mountains on the other side of the bay.

Ideal place. Must visit tourist attraction whilst in Santander. Good views. Outdoor seating is available. Cafe located within building which also has a small shop.
Bilal Mirza — Google review
The exhibition itself was not personally very interesting for me. However, the architecture and exceptional views of the Santander bay made the visit worth it. The café downstairs was also quite nice. Especially recommended for a gloomy rainy day. Tip: entry a little cheaper when bought online (€8 for adult)
Tugce Nur — Google review
Landmark building with Park all around facing the bay. The exhibitions are varied but the tendency is towards challenging as opposed to traditional. Definitely should be visited if you are in santander
Rob Thompson — Google review
Great place tu visit in Santander (Spain). It is an amazing building by Renzo Piano. The temporal exhibition is a Thomas Demand work "world of paper" and I recommend a lot for the meticulously models he creates and the photographs.

Wonderful construction with fixed and temporary fine art exhibitions, beautiful views from the roof terrace 🥰 cafeteria in front of the sea lovely place☺️ 100% adapted for wheelchairs 🎉

The futuristic two-block Centro Botín is a waterfront arts centre opened in 2017 and designed by Italian Renzo Piano (architect of Paris' Centre Pompidou and London's Shard), is covered in 280,000 ceramic discs. It encompasses 2500 sq metres of gallery space for exhibitions of international contemporary art, along with open-air stairways, a rooftop viewing platform and cafe with views over the water.
SJ McKinnon — Google review
As someone who has never visited an art museum before, this was a great first place to visit. Staff were extremely friendly and even gave me some insight into some of the pieces. Beautiful and thought provoking art work on both floors, really enjoyed the experience. Also amazing views from the observation platforms of the bay and a great cafe right beneath it.
Adam Harrison — Google review
Nice exhibition hall for modern art. The layout requires you to go up and down a lot, but the art is very cool and spacious. It was also not crowded, so you could enjoy peacefully. The building itself is also ver impressive and you can enjoy the views on the top and the walk outs for free
Sie-Hang Cheung — Google review
Wanted to see this place for a while - it really adds to the city waterfront. Great views from the roof and a good exhibition space.
Kiana Sanajou — Google review
Very nice art museum directly located at the sea. The exhibition is super interesting, and if you don't go there for the art, the rooftop or the cafe are still very enjoyable.
Lydia Kloos — Google review
Great place to hang out. Wonderful place by the bay with several different spaces and activities that give different things to do all year round. The cafe is a very nice place to eat or have a coffee and the indoor and outdoor seats allow being used during the cold months too. They have gas heaters outside so you can stay nice and warm while having a drink. The museum expos aren't very interesting imho but can be something to do if you have a couple of hours to spare. Don't miss the visit to the rooftop terrace and, please do take the lift, it's a very interesting experience. Don't want to spoil the details, but it's a simple, fun and curious intervention!

National Parks
The Magdalena Peninsula is a scenic spot that boasts a historical palace, beautiful gardens, a small zoo, beaches and a lighthouse. This sprawling parkland at the eastern tip of the bay is popular with picnickers and provides breathtaking views of nearby beaches across the crashing sea. Kids will enjoy visiting resident seals and penguins, replica Spanish galleons, and can ride on a little train that goes around the headland for an affordable price.
Very nice, green and peaceful place! Perfect for a walk! Beautiful places to visit and eat! Surrounded by water with amazing views, and that sound of waves crashing on the rocks, ahh... miss this place!
Elisei P. — Google review
Inside the palace is exquisite and at 3 euros for a guided tour well worth it but the grounds and seascapes are stunning. You can see and hear the power of the waves crashing into the cliffs. A short bus journey (1.30 euros each way) will take you there and entry to the grounds is free.
Lynne F — Google review
What a beautiful place to visit even as a tourist. We were travelling with an aged mom and were delighted to hear that she didn't have to walk up the hill to the palace as there's a train (bus) one can hop on that takes a slow trip up the hill. Cost was 5€. The grounds are immaculate and there's benches placed throughout the peninsula where you can sit and enjoy the view. It's a lovely area to stroll around.
Lee-Anne Curtis-Cox — Google review
The grounds surrounding the Palace are absolutely stunning, with beautiful cliff edges where you can feel the full force of the atlantic wind. The park is really well maintained and is a lovely place to just sit and chill. The actual peninsula is 5 stars for definite, but the park area lacks toilets and amenities. The mini zoo (with sea lions and penguins) seems cruel and unnecessary. The animals don't have much space and some don't seem very healthy, which put a gloomy cloud over what an otherwise lovely trip to the park.
Megan O — Google review
It's very beautiful place. You can go to castle Magdalena or visit mini zoo. Over there is amazing view. You should to visit this place if you in Santander
Oktawia — Google review
The Magdalena Peninsula is a 28 hectare peninsula located near the entrance to the Bay of Santander. The peninsula is a popular recreational destination for both tourists and locals. The historic Palacio de la Magdalena is located on the peninsula, which along with its surrounding gardens, is designated as a cultural heritage site. Also located on the peninsula is a small zoo, three galleons of the Cantabrian mariner Vital Alsar Ramírez and a lighthouse.

The Palace of Magdalena, located on the La Magdalena Peninsula in Santander and built between 1908 and 1912, is a beautiful example of Spanish architectural beauty and decoration from the early 20th century. The palace has sweeping water views and offers guided tours of its period decor.
This place is amazing, first of all the entrance is free, you pay only if you want to go inside the castle. Is so nice to come here in the summer and stay on a blanket. You have nice things to see here. Love Santander
Marius Eana — Google review
The place is absolutely beautiful. The views on the sea are breathtaking. The palace is really well taken care of, and the park around too. It's clean and spacious. The only thing that really shocked me was the little zoo with the sea lions and penguins. The enclosures were rather small and they are imprisoned there for pure entertainment. Such place don't belong to 2022. These animals should be freed.
Silver Wotton — Google review
With no Spanish there is no sense to visit the palace. Even with knowledge of this language, it wouldn't be worthy for me as only few rooms were showed. It is more beautiful outside. And the whole penisula
Marta Szumiata — Google review
Spectacular sea views from the peninsula. €5 return ticket for the guided tour on the train up to the Palace. It is in Spanish however, if you have headphones you can plug them in for other languages. Definitely worth visiting especially for the views and atmosphere.
Chris Mc — Google review
The visit to go inside was around 11 euros for two people The visit was ok... we visited around 5/8 rooms . As the palacio is now a function place. It has modernised, so it lost it character a lot I would advise you to save the money and have a walk around it, and if beautiful gardens and scenery
Richard Farrell — Google review
Lovely little peninsula with a nice castle looking building on the top with magnificent views. There is a little "train" service for the ones who can't/do not want to walk but honestly, it is worth the effort. Not too hilly and if you go anti-clockwise you will reward yourself with a chance to see cute little penguins and see lions! Definitely recommend when you are in Santander! For adults and children alike!
Robert Nuszpl — Google review
Beautiful architecture, this once a Summer Palace of the Spanish Royal Family is the Crown Jewel of Santander with spectacular views to the ocean and the entrance of the Santander Bay. Exterior scenes for the blockbuster Netflix Grand Hotel TV series were filmed here. You have to park outside of the grounds and walk up the hill or for those who want to avoid the brisk climb there is a train/trolley that takes you round-trip for €5.00. The views alone are worth the climb and you don't have to pay admission just to enjoy the views. There is an admission charge of €5.00 for a guided tour. Highly recommend if you enjoy architecture and ocean/water views, or a "Grand Hotel" fan.
Joel Racet — Google review
Beautiful place. Tours of the castle at 11am, 1pm and 5pm (only). The grounds are beautiful. The walk up to the castle is very nice but super hilly so bring your walking shoes. Gorgeous views.
ShailerMan — Google review
The interior is closed but the visit to this peninsular is a must for all the views. If you are lazy they have a shuttle or you can walk all the way round. The bad news is there is not a single toilet!
Richard Pook — Google review
The views are beautiful on a clear day. I took the train up to the palace which really added to the experience. There are various other things to see in the area of the park. It’s very well maintained with lots of green areas and flowers. Check out the old ships, the marine animals in their enclosed area, and the marine museum. It is a nice place to explore with views of the nearby beaches.
Veronica Bonilla — Google review
We walked around the small island. Pretty nice park area, which is free to enter and public open. You can go for a walk, see the Palacio, your kinds can play on a separate area, Rex and enjoy the view to the sea or you go to the beach or the small zoo area. The garden areas and the palacio where super renovated and groomed. We walked around and enjoyed the morning. Dogs are as well allowed. In total really nice and recommended.
Marc Müller (Molly) — Google review
Fantastic view of the bay and from both sides. The palace is situated in such a way that it is surrounded by sea from three sides. Best scenic and photogenic park in the town. Huge green field for kids to play and plenty of sitting arrangements for tourists. All in all a 10/10 place to hang around, making birthday parties in the open, chill out with your gang and even enjoy sun bath in the little adjacent beach.

Actually amazing. This palace has now been turned into a beautiful conference centre. It's also the spot where they filmed Gran Hotel
Urszula Jachimowicz — Google review
Impressive house from the outside. It's in English style. Pleasant to walk through the park along the coast and see the flowers. Great views on the surrounding bay. I didn't visit the inside.
Thomas Vermeulen — Google review
We joined the tour of the palace for which we were promised an audio guide in English (the tour itself only runs in Spanish ..) - unfortunately this didn’t work at all and would have been much better to have a separate English tour. The audio clips were in the wrong order, all lasted about 30 seconds vs the actual guide explaining things for 5+ minutes at each stop, and we did not have the option to tour ourselves round. Not worth the money! It’s a lovely house but walking round the park is also a very nice morning out;)

We had a great walk there, it is recommended to visit and enjoy the peace of the place.

The museum is located in the centre of Santander and is well-maintained and informative. It is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.
It was Very Good Experience. Many Interesting Archeological Findings. Big stone"Estella" from Old Civilization Before Romans and celtic. A Lot of To See in Details. If you are Student Half of Price to Entrance

Very graphical museum, obviously set up with great attention and creativity, with exhibits that range all the way from the paleolithic to roman times. Models of real caves really set up the mood. Nothing too special tho. I was maybe expecting more pieces from paleolithic and bronze age since it is museum of prehistory. But I was certainly not left dissatisfied either. Extremely helpful and friendly staff
Igor — Google review
One of the Best museum i've been to, so well presented, both for adults and children, a must see. Also, architecturally well designed, positioned under mercado del este.
Ante Jericevic — Google review
The entrance is hidden (side of the market), part of it is under renovation, it's small... but the experience IS GREAT. Very didactic. Really. I spent at least 2 pleasant hours there... and I left because it was lunchtime, otherwise I would have spent more time there. Don't miss out!!! VERY GOOD!!! Great curation. Interactive. For all ages.

The Museum of Prehistory and Archaeology of Cantabria is an absolute must-visit for anyone interested in these fascinating fields. As soon as you enter, you are transported back in time through exhibitions spanning the Paleolithic to Iron Age. The impressive collection boasts artifacts like cave paintings, tools, weapons, jewelry, and more that provide insight into the lives of Cantabria's early inhabitants. What really brings the exhibits to life are the informative plaques detailing the significance and context of each item along with vivid multimedia displays. The museum outlines the region's rich archaeological heritage in an engaging, easy-to-understand manner. The expansive grounds also include partial reproductions of ancient caves and tombs for an immersive experience. Whether you're a scholar, student, or simply intrigued by history, the sheer breadth and quality of the museum's contents will leave you wondering. The care taken in curating and presenting Cantabria's prehistoric treasures is evident. Don't miss the chance to visit this first-class cultural institution that so thoroughly honors the region's past.

A fascinating and interesting history of the city's walls and how the city has evolved over time. The tour guide was very informative and helpful.

One of the best museums we have been to - and we go to a lot!! Prehistory is our passion and this place delivered so well. Whether for kids or adults, those with no knowledge or those with a background in the subject - the exhibits were well explained and set out beautifully. Good level of interaction and good having language buttons for us tourists! Only criticism is a bit more light needed on the incised bones - our older eyes couldnt read the labels! Great videos too.
Richard Gibson — Google review
This is a great museum, this is a real museum. A well organised exhibition, acknowledged staff, able to explain and guide you through the visit. There are virtual reality glasses at the beginning or the exhibition to explain how it was painted everything and beautifully explained. It met all of my expectations and went beyond them.
John Felipe Branch — Google review
Fantastic museum that takes you through from prehistoric monolithic to medieval times. Well worth the admission price, which for a senior is €1. Standard admission is €3 which again for what you are getting is excellent value. Check opening days and hours before you go.
Howard N Hughes — Google review
Well presented museum with English signage. Many interactive displays, all in working order (kind of uncommon in smaller museums, sadly). €4 entrance fee. Spent probably 90 minutes there. Pairs nicely with a visit to one of Cantabria's cave sites.
S H — Google review
It is a clean and well presented place but definitely not worth near 9 euros. It highlights are bone and stones from the local region. Displays are spoken in english, spainish. Overall you may spend up tp 45 mins there

Great museum. Everything is well showcased in an excellent way. You see a lot of things and learn a lot all in an easy peasy way. It depicts the history of mankind in the area from the begining to the occupation of the Romans in Cantabria. Videos and representations are easy to watch and very useful! Really worth a visit!
Sunny Fojas — Google review
This is such an inspiring museum, one of the best of its kind that I've personally visited. As a student that is studying heritage conservation, I am amazed by how well of an interpretation this museum offers. It is absolutely a highlight of my visit to Santander. Design details. Most info is presented in three languages (Spanish, English, and partially French). Explanation boards are tilted to fit human versions, and low enough for children. Well designed visitor flow in chronological order. The use of technology serves its educational function well. The digital screens which shoulder the responsibilities of presenting are highly interactive and engaging. Rather than simply displays, it involves games, animations, sound, scene replications and beyond. I highly recommend families to visit this museum, as it will greatly spark children's curiosities on archaeology, anthropology as well as history. (While visiting, there was a museum interpreter working on site showing a group of school kids around, he is very good and friendly(speaks Spanish/English), highly recommend on booking a tour). There is much more to say about this wonderful museum, but nothing explains better than one visiting by its own.

Tapas bar
Casa Lita is a popular tapas bar in Santander, with queues often forming during peak hours. Serving over 300 types of pintxos, the bar offers an intense range of flavours and is always crowded. You can sample local ingredients here in small glasses or on slices of baguette, or enjoy classic varieties on bread.
My first meal in the town and I felln in love with these amazing pinchos
G?l?in Karahan — Google review
Location: in front of the sea. Staff: nice and provide us a description in english. You get a number, and at your turn a waiter show you the table, then you have to go inside and choose your selection of pintxos, they will take to table. Attention: if you travel with a dog you can only choose a table outside, dogs can’t enter in the bar. Inside the bar it’s really crowded and chaotic, even choosing tapas is long and it takes patience, there are virtual queues and not always respected.
Fabiana Faggioni — Google review
I think its on of the most known pintxos places in Santander. They won quite some cooking competitions in the last years. Lots of high quality pintxos and good drinks.
Oliver Heldt — Google review
Get a caña (small beer) or some wine and enjoy their excellent selection of pintxos (please do not call them tapas, they are not the same!). We got there by 8.30pm and we had no problem sitting on the terrace. You need to go inside, choose your pintxos and let them know your table number. Once warmed up, the waiter brings them to you.
E P P — Google review
I didn't like the tapas that much ... seemed it had all been cooked a long time ago, have had much better freshly cooked elsewhere. Waiter welcome was so-so, house wine nice. Prices seemed very reasonable though.
Ken Kitson — Google review
I had multiple "pinchos" but none was amazing for my taste. The staff is nice and explains every dish, at least in Spanish. I still recommend, for anyone to try this place.

Great food, great service, cute atmosphere, clean bathroom. Visited twice in our 5 days in Santander. Fave stop!
Rachel Bookout — Google review
Lovely place to enjoy good quality pinchos for a fair price. The atmosphere inside the place is very fitting, or if the weather allows it you can enjoy your order in the terraza outside looking to the boats docked in the Marina. One of the greatest places in Santander.
Pablo Sanchez — Google review
Sat outside along the promenade, we had a few glasses of red and a beers. Also grabbed a few pintxos from what was an excellent selection on display. Nice atmosphere inside as well if you fancy that. Our favourite was a mini beef burger, the beef was very soft and tender but all where very tasty.
Jon Thwaites — Google review

Arrived at Santander on Nov 2022 famished, so the hotel receptionist recommended me and my brother to Casa Lita. We were received very warmly by whom we guessed to be the manager. It was our first pinxtos experience and we were also unsure what to order, luckily the server who helped us basically piled his favorite recommendations onto our plates. There was also a local lady having lunch there who chimed in, giving recommendations and showing hospitality, etc. The food was also delicious! My brother loved it so much he wanted to come back again. And we did, once again welcomed warmly by the same manager. Prices here are very fair. I definitely recommend it.
Kang Zi Jing — Google review
Very nice restaurant with views of the marina and the bay. Inside, it is very cozy, and warm. We came at time when it wasn't to crowded, but if you go, do expect a crowd. The service was nice, and the waiters were more than happy to explain the pinxos, which is this restaurants specialty. It is excellent for local pinxos, but there is not much else. It was quite cheap for the quality if the food, and overall I would reccomend this place.

Spanish restaurant
Bodega del Riojano is a traditional Spanish restaurant with exposed beams, painted beer barrels, and creative local dishes. The tavern started life as a bodega before gradually morphing into a vast restaurant and bar. There are dozens of wine barrels, each handpainted by a 20th-century artist. You pay for the setting, friendly service, and generous portions at Bodega del Riojano. They also have good selections of barbecued meats and wines.
There are 3 things I would highly recommend here: 1. Croquetas de jamon (as a big fan of croquetas, I must say these are one of the best I had in Spain). 2. Ravioli de rabo de vaca con foie 🤤 and Tarta de queso 🤤. The ambient is super nice. The service is a bit unorganized but everything else is amazing.
Luka Bozic — Google review
Beautiful restaurant, very unique setting with all the wine barrels mounted above. Higher end dining with some exquisite dishes. Standouts for me were the salted prawns (texture is unreal), marinated tuna (top quality), steak tartar (first time for me) and lamb / timbal. When you have an occasion to dine well, this place is for you!

A terrific culinary experience. Phenomenal ambiance, service, and food. Our waiter, Juan Carlos, offered some fantastic recommendations, like the ensaladilla rusa. We probably wouldn’t have ordered it without his suggestion, and it ended up being the best one we’ve ever eaten. Everything was delightful, but I’ll also highlight the croquetas, cow’s tail raviolis and the flan. Can’t wait to visit again.
Adam Thompson — Google review
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in years! Friendly and caring service (we got there one day early due to a mistake in the reservation but they were still able to find us a table in spite of how busy the place was). Constant care by the waiters asking if the food was good, making recommendations and just being helpful. Superb! Food quality vs price is the best one can get really. The food is top notch, flavors are very balanced ... everything was just right! We ordered: Croquetas - must try Stuffed peppers Burrata salad Merluza del Cantábrio Flan Helado quesucos de Cantabria - must! Easiest 5 star rating i’ve ever given. Looking forward to dine there again.
Faddy Saad — Google review
Very good lunch at the bar! Liked a lot the ensaladilla and the warm cheesecake, a bit less las rabas (a bit hard for my taste). Service, location, price are great!
Elena Di Carlo — Google review
Disappointing Experience at Bodega del Riojano Unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. Firstly, the waiting time was incredibly long, which was frustrating and dampened our excitement for the meal. It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed or poorly managed, leading to an unnecessarily lengthy wait. Additionally, what struck me was the obvious contrast in treatment between different groups of diners. I can't help but feel that there was an evident distinction between those who appeared to be regulars or higher-paying customers and the rest of us. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere, reinforcing a sense of a two-class society within the restaurant. Unfortunately I cannot say anything about the Michelin star food because we left after waiting 40 minutes for a waiter or waitress.
Maximilian Hofer — Google review
Absolutely outstanding and worthy of the Michelin listing. I can't fault a si gke thing. Go, it is fantastic 👏

An unexpectedly fabulous last culinary experience before we leave Spain (for now at least). The Gambon al la Sal and the rice pudding (100 year old recipe) were spectacular.

An absolute gem in Santander! Bodega del Riojano is a culinary haven that captures the essence of Cantabrian cuisine flawlessly. From the moment you step in, you're transported to a world of tradition and taste. The menu boasts a delightful array of local dishes that showcase the region's finest flavors. The staff's warm hospitality and the restaurant's rustic charm create an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you're a seafood lover or eager to explore traditional Spanish cuisine, Bodega del Riojano is an absolute must-visit. A true 5-star culinary delight!

On a Saturday, it was definitely a place to be - it was buzzing with people and a very cozy & lively vibe. I had a table at the bar area, and there’s a restaurant at the back. Had a few tapas, was a little confusion how service worked - some tables had a server, I ended up ordering at the bar itself. All the dishes were tasty, and good quality. The only downside was the speed of service, they seemed to forget some of the order, leading to waiting for over 45 minutes for my last tapas, having had to ask about it again.
Alex Filicevas — Google review
Oh my god! Done of the best food I've ever had. Everything we had was amazing! Brilliant balance of flavours in every dish. This place is famous for its ravioli (starter but you can order by the unit) which was unbelievable. The chargrilled peppers were superb. All mains were just delicious. Service was extremely pleasant and professional. Great value for money; 3 starters, 3 mains, 3 desserts, wine, beer and bread €140 😮 Highly recommended

Dias Desur is a contemporary restaurant with a focus on international cuisine. The walls are decorated with stunning photography, and the atmosphere is relaxed and trendy. The menu includes dishes from around the world, such as Indian samosas, Japanese sushi and chicken teriyaki. You can eat here for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and it's a great place to try something different from the usual Cantabrian fare.
Incredible food and amazing service. We were only in the area for a short time but we can’t wait to visit again. We also had someone with gluten and lactose intolerance with us and were so impressed with the polite service and willingness to prepare something special so that everyone in our group had an equal chance to enjoy the great food. 10/10 can’t wait to come back. Thank you so much!

Tomato from the area, very tasty! Bread and butter excellent. Staff very professional and friendly. Not 5 stars because somehow the offer/ingredients of the plates didn't convince me personally; can't tell you why, must be a matter of taste.
Melanie Häfliger — Google review
We came here for a late dinner. The service was pathetic. The food was ok. I think their chefs need to ask themselves the question- what are we? There is no coherence in the food they offer. They offer everything from across the world. Makes it seem like a cool place but the food is not. The salad we had was fresh but passable in flavor. The samosas were disgusting. As an Indian, I have to say, it was an insult to what is a real samosa. They may be better at other foods at other times, if so, they need to curate the menu down to what they truly WANT to serve.

Excellent, fresh food and welcoming ambience. Of course the place was packed but waiting time and service were very good as well. Absolutely no complaint whatsowever. The service is knowledgeable about the dishes and gladly explains when it doubt what to order. Dishes were fresh, nicely cooked and presented and more than sufficient in quantity. for 13€ you get a somptuous lunch including wine in an outstanding quality. will definitely go again.

I love this place to have a nice and healthy breakfast in good company. Toast bread with fresh tomato, guacamole and white cheese is my favourite!!! It's one of a few places in Santander suitable for vegetarians, where you can choose a variety of salads and veggie dishes for lunch (as a buffet).

Love their tapas! Different and really delicious! Sushi, fried noodles and chicken biryani among the classic ones. Try it, it’s absolutely worth it!

I agree with others' comments - the value is not there. Interesting concept and pretty good food but I couldn't enjoy it because I felt like I was paying too much for everything. Nice ambience and friendly service. I really wanted to like it more than I did.

Fine dining restaurant
El Serbal is a prestigious fine dining restaurant located in Puertochico, Santander. Known for its inventive and stylish menus, the venue has been awarded one Michelin Star since its opening in 1999. Offering a range of delicious dishes including steak tartare and steak flambé, El Serbal is a must-visit for all food lovers looking to savour some of the best culinary flavours Santander has to offer.
Just experienced the best evening here. Food, service and atmosphere were top notch. David our waiter was outstanding and spoke great English and was extremely professional throughout. What a star. The food was amazing! Flavours and attention detail exquisite. We were seated in the window with beachfront view, also amazing. The wine was the best we have had for a while, both bottles!!!! Thanks team, keep it up!

Aperitivos and starter were great (scallop tartare amazing) but fish wash dry. Presa Iberia might have been good but was not warm. Waiter opened the bottle wrong and I had to point out there was cork in my glass twice and they did not offer another bottle. Several details missing from Michelin star- prefer not to elaborate as to not sound like a spoiled brat haha

Hands down best value for money at any Michelin Star Restaurant I’ve been to. Food: simply perfect. Service: attentive, friendly, with a personal touch. Location overlooking the beach: can’t get better than this. We had the tasting menu (87€) with wine pairing (32€) and it just can’t get better than this. Would definitely highly recommend and come back!!

Totally enjoyed the degustation menu. Ramon tried his best to explain the menu in English. Best meal in Santander so far. The crusted ibérico was the dish of the night

Tonight we have dined at El Serbal in Santander Spain. Our experience was awful. Not a Michelin star experience. We sat down at 8:30pm and were served food at 10pm. The service was slow, inattentive and in the end rude. The cocktails were too sweet, the food was too salty or too sweet, dull, dry, simply not tasty. Even the wine that was recommended was mediocre. There was no maitre'd in sight, the waitress hardly checked on us and when we left our plates nearly full and asked to speak to the manager, the waitress answered that he does not speak English and that in Spain people speak Spanish. No apology, simply disrespectful. We paid and left.

We came here for my birthday and it was amazing! €62 per person for a Michelin starred tasting menu seems like really good value and everything was impeccably presented and delicious. We were sat by the open window, looking out to sea across Sardinero beach, the whole experience made for a very memorable evening.

We had the fixed gastronomic menu for lunch and we're seated by the window with a wonderful view of the sea. Service was professional. Food was accomplished and presented flawlessly. It was a relaxing meal nearly three hours.

We had the gastronomic tasting menu with wine pairing and it was outstanding. Every dish was unique and cooked perfectly. The staff was delightful and very knowledgeable about the wines, as well as generous with pouring it. So glad we came here! Highly recommend

Just finished our fabulous lunch at this restaurant. Most of the dishes were spot on, delicious, with minimal intervention, the kitchen team let the ingredients do the talking,10/10! Most of the wines were good although some were not particularly matching. Amazing service full of personality from the Cuban waitress, she is the best !

Surprising & audacious The restaurant offers a very wide set of options: - 2 degustacion menus, "classic" and one designed around champagne, and a la carte - The classic degustacion menu can be paired with international or national wines For our first visit to the region we selected the classic degustacion menu with national wines. All the dishes were very good, with some excellent ones as the delicious beef in charcoal. The plates were well presented and the wines, generously served, were splendid and matching perfectly (I even requested the list per email which is still pending). Slightly negative points are the very pressured waiters who need to run to meet the respective menu timelines. Finally the restaurant intends to serve coktails, teas and coffees by bringing dedicated carts to the table but the entertainment was not at the level expected. Overall a wonderful night, I would highly recommend to pay this address a visit the next time you're in Santander!

What an outstanding discovery and wha a gem of a restaurant. The quality of the food and service is well beyond the one star Michelin category. Everything was flawless. A must if you like food if the highest order.

Bar & grill
Located on one of the busiest streets in Cantabria, Vermutería Solórzano is a popular bar and grill serving up some of the best pinchos around. The traditional tiles and marble bar is perfect for sipping a vermouth while enjoying some delicious tapas bites or snacks. With creative and innovative dishes such as seaweed bread with thyme jelly and anchovy battered prawns, Solórzano will definitely whet your appetite.
Fun place filled with late evening revellers

The worst customer service I have seen by far!. Really unfriendly and impolite waiters. When we finally got a table (after indicating several times that there were a couple of free ones) the waitress asked us if we were going to eat something (not just having a drink) and we said that we would like to have dinner. So the waitress just indicates us that if we were not going to spend a large amount of money there if would be better that we leave the place (!!). I still find hard to understand the gruff and rude response we received.... I recommend avoiding this place, there is so many wonderful places around.

Incredible vermouth selection. Had gildas and some huge mussels in a vermouth sauce - so good. Was a tuesday evening and was relatively quiet, maybe 40% full so not as vibin as I imagine it gets on weekends.

Very good vermut and tapas! The menu offers tapas with some nice twists from traditional taste and for affordable price. Service is ok but didn’t have high expectations as it is really a tapas bar. I really recommend!

With its rustic charm and welcoming vibe, it's the perfect place to enjoy traditional tapas and a variety of vermouths. Warmer with each visit, as we both got to know each other...this place grew our relationship. That relationship was as friendship, family, warm fondness for vermouth and great, fresh food...huge knowledge growth on the subject of vermouths. The staff and owner...ohhh...and that behind-the-scenes chef...each was more special with mutual time invested. We tasted 8 very different vermouths, this is where one would come to learn and experience...KNOW....vermouth, vermouth culture, background and nuances that richen the VERMOUTH WORLD... Food...excellent...the mussels are a must with a vermouth tomato cream...the sardines, boneless and egg-dipped/fried...the potatoes brava and those with the crab....the meatballs....all...very nice vermouth pub foods...super high marks on all elements in this college....collection....higher education of...VERMOUTH. So...final thoughts...go more than once, just like vermouth, it takes time to grow in...them to you...you to them.... Vermouth to flow in...fill in all your spaces....vermouth, like kisses, grow better with each encounter...with growing intimacy...with setting comfort...Angel is the owner, give him your patronage...and flower a wonderful journey in Vermouth Land, vermouth paradise....soon....so run, don't walk...do it now...short hours of opening, but more than adequate to nurture this fantastic vermouth love.

Visited this Vermuterie twice when we were on holiday in Santander. Great choice of vermut.. Very good service on both occasions. Kept coming round with little tapas. We were flying home just after our second visit and were given a bottle of Vermut to take home with us. Also booked taxis to take us to airport. They could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Would highly recommend a visit. Don’t miss it!

Wanted a couple of vermouths after dinner and this is the first time I've seen a vermutería — but was refused service by a horribly rude member of staff because I couldn't speak enough Spanish to get by. Asked him if he could speak English, only to be replied with fluent English indicating he can't (the irony!) — evident he was trying to cause trouble. Perplexing how this establishment survives — it's practically empty whilst La Mar (where I experienced really good service earlier) and Bodega Fuente De down the road were heaving.
