Fethiye

Stunning coastline, mountains, ancient buildings, culture, and great food, the Turkish city of Fethiye has so much to offer tourists. The beaches in Fethiye are one of the main reasons to visit this seaside town, which are famous for their white sand and clear turquoise water. But Fethiye is also becoming popular among tourists because of its rich history, culture, and cuisine, reflected in the city’s medieval castles, museums, cafes, and restaurants.

Sights & Landmarks
The Amyntas Rock Tombs are an ancient burial site located in Fethiye, Turkey, dating back to the Lycian period of the 4th century BCE. Carved into the rocks, these tombs were reserved for individuals of high status and feature a classical columned portico that is now recognized as one of Fethiye's most prominent landmarks.
Incredible! You can see these right from the road, which is cool on its own and might satisfy your desire to check these out. Or for a small fee (as of Dec ‘23 it is 60tl per adult, young kids free, cash only) you can go through the gate, climb up the stairs, and go right in to the tombs! I’d recommend doing that if you’re able because the price is low and getting to explore the tombs felt like a real privilege. Great view of Fethiye. Small free parking area right at the base of the hillside.

Be ready for a bunch of stairs :) Entrance is 12,5 liras. Then you have the only way up with a couple of terraces on the left where you can have a break. On the top there's a temple entrance but there's nothing inside (just a small empty room). That's it. The positive thing is the view of the city. And fig trees by the road were cool too!

We thought that these tombs were very interesting as worth visiting, the cost is 5TL. They are not very far from downtown an easy walk. We do recommend seeing as they are unusual. 3btraveler

It’s great to see so many ancient tombs that are still standing in Turkey. It’s definitely worth a visit. The cost to visit this was less than few euros. It’s not difficult to reach here and there are only a few stairs that you need to climb. Once you reach the top, The views from top are amazing! A must visit when in Fethiye area to see some ancient sites!
Subhalakshmi Dihingia — Google review
It's interesting to see, BUT only worth buying a entrance ticket for 40TL if you would like a closer look
Simon Hicks — Google review
A must-see while in the area. Easy to access by foot path for able bodied but not special needs accessible. If needed, a wheel chair or elderly person can have a nice viewpoint from the road but can not go up. It's still worth seeing either way! Also, they cleaned the graffiti after many years, and it looks pristine again!

Very amazing place, recommend having a guide so that you know where you are going, what is that place etc. Learning history whilst experiencing physically is something this extraordinary place offers. Great muzzle house for those visiting with children, only make them understand tripping hazards.

Fethiye is an amizing district, you will fall in love at first glance, Amyntas is a Nice historical place formed in 350BC, which is 2750 year old, very good location, Entry ticket was 3 Euro if you on the top. Town will developed with all options you need including Hotels, Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Markets, Banks etc etc.
Moody Lens — Google review
Got a chill vibe to it. There's nothing up there and u can get the most of it without paying for the tickets. At April 2022 each foreigner had to pay 12.5 TL to enter. But the view of city from up there is nice.

Interesting and historical place. Worth a quick visit. Parking Is very limited here, but there is a free small parklot. The evening golden hour is a good time to take photos from the road below.

A historical monument that demonstrates the greatness of the past. It's worth visiting not only as a monument but also because you get the beat view of Makr8 - Fethiye.
ANTONIOS KAKLAMANIS — Google review
Not sure that it's worth paying for, you just get 10 metres closer being the other side of the fence. Has a small car park for about 12 cars so just pull up, and a quick walk up the hill. Takes about 15 mins to have a look. The views over Fethiye are also goid from up there.
Stuart Walker — Google review
We decided to see this place in the evening when it is lit up. The view is amazing (it's hard to imagine that it was done without the use of modern tools)

Carved into the cliff sides above the town and looking out over the ocean, the Fethiye Lycian Rock Tombs or funerary rock chambers for the deceased in ancient Lycia. They were typically reserved for the elite, aristocrats, and important society individuals. These tombs are often in high locations, overlooking valleys and landscapes, the belief was that it would be easier for winged creatures to carry them through to the afterlife. Dating back to 350 BC and was named after the Greek inscription on the side of it which reads "Amyntou tou Ermagiou", which translated to English means "Amyntas, son of Hermagios". The tomb was built by the Lycians, the people who lived in this satrapy of the Persian Empire at the time. The rock tomb of Amyntas, dating from the Lycian period when Fethiye was called Telmessos The Lycian people inhabited the Lycia region along the southwestern coast of modern-day Turkey. Historical records show Lycia was between the southern Mediterranean Sea and the Northern Taurus Mountains. This region's unique geography contributed to its isolation from other ancient civilisations, leading to a distinct Lycian culture. The only way to reach the tombs is by climbing up the hillside, free to explore
amira Mahmoud — Google review
Had to make 2 visits to go up to the tomb, was really nice to get up close and worth the return. Supposed to be open from 0830 but not staff until around 0900.
THOMPSON CHRISTOPHER — Google review
Got here on our electric bikes we hired. You have to go off onto the little back streets but well worth it!!! Only afew tombs but you get soaked up in the history of them. There is steep hill climb if anyone has mobility issues..
Kelly Griffith — Google review
I think it makes no sense to buy tickets for 40 lira when there are the same tombs nearby. The place is historical and very important, was glad to visit here. But there is no infrastructure here, no public transport stops, parking or toilets, not even a shop to buy water. In general, I recommend to see, but be prepared for these cons.
Andre Worldwide — Google review
Very interesting site for a short stop. Good parking area at the base, easy walk up. Lots of small restaurants down near the water for light lunch.
Jennifer Johnson — Google review
Pretty cool to go see but you can see the whole thing from the road. Paying to go seems a bit pointless as there isn't anything to see inside the tomb itself just a 2*2m empty room. And no information

Fethiye Old Town is a quaint and shaded village perfect for leisurely strolls. The area is filled with traditional Turkish carpets, ceramic shops, and various stores offering a wide range of jewelry, watches, and sunglasses. Visitors can also explore the markets selling dried herbs, spices, and lokum. Additionally, the town boasts attractions such as Paspatur Carsisi (Market) and the Amyntas Rock Tombs carved into the rock cliff above the town.
We loved the old town. There are many shops that sells various products, clothing, spices, bags, souvenirs, shoes... etc. At the same place there are many restaurants and bars. It was wonderful experience, the prices here slightly better than Oludeniz and Ovacık. Visiting this area is highly recommended especially that it next to Fethiye Marina and the Fish market. (I will leave you with the pictures)

Visited in November and I enjoyed it so much, almost no tourists at this time of the year so the place isn’t crowded, sellers are in a good mood, and you have variety of stores between clothes, spices, food & gifts store
Ehdaa Ibrahim — Google review
Old town clothing in Fethiye is a place where they try to scam you on the prices. Ask how much things cost first and negotiate as well. Please know that they see foreigners and beef up the prices a lot. Don’t be surprised if they charge you 1,000 Turkish lira for a t-shirt. Be careful when shopping there.
Andrew Smith — Google review
The location itself isn't the problem, it's the stores that are all trying to milk tourists for their hard earned money. We attended this place on three different occasions, all in the hopes that maybe we could find what we were looking for and on each occasion we were let down by nasty sales tactics and store owners quoting one price to one person, then another price to others. My partner whom came across like a tourist, caught a store owner lying, increasing the price of an item when asked again, when only minutes ago the store owners wife gave us a completely different price. This place is fine for a walk-through, but trust me, you won't find anything in this place that you can't find elsewhere for a fraction of the price. This place is purely a tourist trap.
C4LIBEE — Google review
Most of the guys who work/own the fake clothes shops are the most rudest people one would ever meet. I wonder whether they understand the ethics of a business despite knowing they sell cheap and fake stuff, their arrogant attitude is beyond understanding. The gift shops are excellent. They sell good quality stuff The sweet and spice shops are brilliant
Hallian — Google review
The old town is a nice place with lots of shops etc just out side there is a fish market which we did go in but was was harassed constantly so you couldn’t look around, so I just left and ate elsewhere.
Darran Williams — Google review
They are not good sellers and people, do not buy anything from them. When we had problem with our order and wanted to return it back they behaved agressive and rude. Do not waste your money with this overpriced fake products. If you really crave to buy them, bargain to the half of the price.

Calis Beach is a beautiful and secluded sandy beach located in the city of Fethiye. It's known for its sunbathing, swimming, and stunning sunsets. There's also a variety of restaurants and bars available on the beach. It's a great place to spend a day with friends.
It has great atmosphere. Along the beach there are many restaurants, bars and cafés. The beach itself is really good and well serviced. It can get busy at some points but it is a very long beach and plenty of room for everyone. The best future of this beach is the most amazing sunsets all year round.
Fehmi Hanoglu — Google review
A good beach but it's charged most of the time. We went there and to sit they charge around 30 TL. Not bad for those who feel to pay and enjoy. I came here with my family/sisters. We enjoyed the food on the beach which was reasonably cheap. Not bad for the beach

Nice beach with lots of activities. This place must to welcoming for public instead it's very commercial. Everywhere there are chairs to rent. Instead there should be more spaces for families to sit and relax with families. Stunning views though.
Khalid Mohammed — Google review
Located within few km from Fetiye city center this beach is such a nice place. Newly renovated beach walk promenade with small hotels and private accomodations has nice stretch of small stone / dark sand beach with umbrellas that you can rent for 30TL / day. It can be easy reached by dolmuş or local buses. Very easy access to the sea. No rocks or drops. Clean and as of Jun 2021 not crowded. Changing rooms available, some spots also showers, family friendly. Lots of food options , refreshments and small shops. This beach is popular by UK expat community so English is widely spoken as well. Beautiful sunsets. Street dogs are present a lot. They are harmless.

Disappointing. Pebbly stoney beach with little in the way of sand. Uncomfortable under foot and not a beach on which to stroll. Red flags and a boom make me wonder what's out there! Scrubby scruffy area. I'll not be back.

Çalış Beach offers stunning views and a plethora of restaurant options. However, the absence of sand and the dirty sea water were disappointing.

A very beautiful and spotless beach! So peaceful and relaxing. Plenty to do along the strip! Highly reccomend anyone to come here!
TheKableh — Google review
This is very beautiful beach to go watch the sunset. My friends and I went around 5pm and wasn’t possible to swim because it was very windy and super wavy. You can’t really walk barefoot for long because of the rocks, people leaving trash around the shore which is sad. All the cigarette buds, some broken bottle glass, sharp things 😓 Other than that you can take minibus from Fethiye to Calis Pilaji for 13TL and walk on a boardwalk. The boardwalk has nice restaurants and shops. Definitely worth going it! 😁
Hinal Patel (Hini) — Google review
Southern portion of the beach is rocky but has a ice boardwalk with testurants snd shops. After the boardwalk ends up north thebeach gets sandy and there are resturants on the beach, good place to watch the sunset with more privacy than the boardwalk area and better with small kids.
Ariel Schuetz — Google review
Long beach with great views of the mountains. Casual laid back vibe. Easy to get to via water taxi or dolmus from Fethiye city centre. Many restaurants. Huge problem for me is the trash on the beach. Littered with cigarette butts, bottles and left over picnic rubbish which makes it very disappointing. Could be a great beach

Fresh fish for dinner, why not. But the one you ate may not be the one you picked. Ours doesn't taste great when it was brought out and we were disappointed that it was not hot off the grill. There is no display of how much it costs to grill or cook fish by the restaurant. They charged per person 150 tl for grilling each type. So ask for the price of cooking it beforehand!!
t nguyen — Google review
Stopped over in fish market near Paspatur Carsisi by chance on return to Antalya from Olu Deniz. Decided to go for fresh fish lunch where you literally select the fish/seafood you desire and its cooked fresh for your consumption. The prawns in chilli, garlic butter sauce was so tender with a spicy twist - absolutely awesome. Selection of anchovies, red mullet, sultan fishes fried in thin crispy batter was equally great. The large seabass grilled and with same sauce as prawns was large and shared between two. Superb! Awesome meal all in all.
Abdul Quaim — Google review
Great food, good service..if you are a tourists expect the fish market to charge twice the locals price. I got told red mullet $50 per kilo I spoke English, my husband who is Turkish went over and spoke Turkish and was charged $25 a kilo..
Cynthia Gowin — Google review
Fishmongers are very helpful explaining the process and also provide recommendations for serving each type of fish. We bought our rock seabass, shrimp and mussels from Balikcilik and had it sent to Cem Can who prepared it perfectly. Price worked out at 900tl for fish and 550tl for the restaurant. Most enjoyable.
Mark Hopkins — Google review
Fresh fish at reasonable prices. You buy it in a small market and then, they cook it for you in one of the restaurants arround. However, all the process is not very transparent. They try to sell you more than what’s needed for a meal and they randomly adjust the prices. Cooking costs TRY 100 per person and will try to sell you salads and other in the restaurants.
mariona — Google review
Interesting concept. Buy fish from any fish stalls and have it delivered (cut and cleaned) and cooked to your liking at any of the restaurants among many in the cosy setting offering a variety of their own preparations. Festive ambience, friendly people, moderate pricing. A must go place, when visiting Fethiye.
Sundry Wundry — Google review
A unique experience where you pick your fish, then take it to the restaurant. We went to the small fresh fish kiosk to buy fish and were happy w the cost of a nice sized sea bass for 2 people 😀 Then had it cooked at Balikçinin Yeri w the yellow chairs
Gabriel Dicristofaro (G') — Google review
This place contains many shops selling fresh fish. You can choose the type of fish and the quantity you want and the restaurant will cook the fish
Eng. Bassam Alzaiady — Google review
You buy fresh from the local fishermen and pay them directly. Then you direct the restaurants to cook what you bought. Restaurants charge 35TL to 45TL per person to prepare the food. Each restaurant has its own salads, breads and sides that you can add. Worth the visist.
Tarek Elganainy — Google review
Great atmosphere. Buy your fish from Market stalls then choose you restaurant and they cook it for you. We had red mullet....barbun.....very good.
Sally Bonner — Google review
You have to try this place if you're in the area! You won't be disappointed. Choose your fresh fish. Take a seat and order your Meze. Then it's all cooked to your tastes and served in an amazing setting! Loved it. Fish was around £20 (6 huge shrimps, octopus, salmon, crab - Meze was around £15. You won't be disappointed 👍
Neil Collins — Google review
Don't usually leave 1 star reviews but we did just experience the highest priced yet worst dinner of our whole 2 month holiday. The fish market guys clearly rip off tourists. Wasn't sure/comfortable with haggling the price, so paid 1700 Liras for some prawns, mussels and salmon for two people. Then the restaurant is very frantic which wouldn't be a problem if the kitchen nailed it.. Unfortunately they over cook the hell out of everything, making it all tasteless. Not recommended 😵‍💫
Sam — Google review
Very nice experience , surely to be done . You seat at the restaurant, you buy the fish in one of the fish shop are there and the restaurant cook it for you . Very nice ambient, crowded but not too much and with group of musicians playing and singing traditional Turkish music. Magic atmosphere. We spent for a Sea bream of 1,25 kg , 260 TL + around 200 to have it cooked . We eat a lot of other things and we spent in total around 1000 TL

Fethiye Market in Turkey is a bustling hub of activity every Tuesday, offering a wide array of products from knock-off designer items to traditional Turkish goods and fresh produce. The market provides an authentic experience with hospitable locals and plenty of opportunities for haggling. Visitors can explore the numerous stalls selling everything from food to clothing, making it a vibrant and lively destination for both tourists and locals alike.
Quite an experience. Plenty of stalls to haggle. Fresh fruit, goods , etc. have to haggle.
Carole Bayfield — Google review
Definitely quite the experience, we went early out of season which meant we were some of the only tourists around so they all pounced on us. The fruit and veg section was much better as they were targeting the locals, there is also a food/cafe section which was a bit of a gauntlet. In our opinion the clothing stalls were just too overwhelming, in the summer it maybe a bit better as there will be more tourists. You have to haggle and stand your ground, they are all very persistent, which is what we found off putting. We probably would have bought more if they weren't choosing the clothes for us and if they let us look for items ourselves. The market is open all day with nice food stalls along the riverside opening more around midday. Overall if your looking for genuine fakes this is a great place to visit and what you would expect from a market
Michaela Chalder — Google review

The cheapest place for genuine fakes, perfume sellers are extremely pushy. However, other stalls were more laid back and didn't push buying things onto us. Visit here before you visit tourist shops in calis town! Bags are available here for £10 whereas you'd be paying £25 in other places.

Mozaiik Bahçe is a popular Turkish restaurant in Fethiye that serves large portions of food. From vegetarian options to dishes with stew and kebabs, there's something for everyone at this restaurant. The pitta bread is also delicious and melts in your mouth.
Good restaurant with nice decor and friendly staff. There are a few vegan options on here. I saw other vegans get the vegetable kebab and had to get the same. It's a big plate with lots of food and flavor. I came back the next day and got a vegan kofte and lentil soup. Both were good but kofte could have used a sauce since i cant eat the yogurt. Cheers up to homemade ginger ale.

The restaurant is located close to the marina, 5 minutes walking, the outside seating area is in between trees with traditional oriental style. The food is so good , looks much better than it is on the menu. Welcoming staff. The price is very fair. I recommend chicken Shish.

Great service and relaxed cozy atmosphere, definitely worth a visit if you want a nice high-quality tourist meal experience. They bring the mains out with a gas stove to keep it piping hot. Would highly recommend the kunefe as a dessert! They have a good selection of beers and wines. We came around 6-7pm and found a seat easily, but it started to get quite busy closer to 8ish. Starters are around ₺100-200, meat mains are around ₺350-700. They have vegetarian options, and also have a kids' food menu including stuff like chicken nuggets with chips. Expect to spend ₺1000-1500 (£30-40ish) for two as of August 2023.

Wow this place in terms of food quality and taste as well as dining environment definitely exceeded our expectations. We both thought it's the best dinner/restaurant experience we've had during our two week trip. Everything was bursting with refined flavours and nicely seasoned. We weren't super hungry so didn't get the mezze platter which I had planned on getting. But the thyme olive salad and lentil soup were delectable especially the salad super refreshing and flavoured. For the main we got the vegetable shish kebab (highly recommend!!) and the Hatay kebab. Both were excellent but the vegetarian options had such depth of flavours! For drinks the mulberry juice was lovely, made from mulberry molasses and tonic water (no refined sugar). The service was super friendly and efficient.

Excellent coffee at last We’ve spent 2 weeks searching Fethiye for decent cappuccino or latte. As Starbucks here makes the worst coffee I’ve ever tasted, it was a quest to find something good. I really enjoyed my flat white here at this coffee shop. Comfortable tables and chairs to sit in the street or inside and enjoy your coffee. Left feeling very relaxed and caffeinated😁

Really nice coffee shop- the staff is fully local and is super friendly and tried their best to suggest really nice coffee and fresh drinks. Regardless of the language barrier it was a really nice experience! They have almond milk too :) Really recommend it 💕

If you're looking for a lively spot for dinner in Fethiye, Reis Restaurant located on Calis Beach is worth considering. Formerly operating as a cafe, it has now transformed into a predominantly Chinese restaurant with a diverse menu. Reis Restaurant offers a beautiful and unique dining experience by the beach, making it an attractive choice for visitors seeking delicious cuisine in a vibrant setting.

(Translated by Google) There are people who know the Fethiye fish market. You direct the fish you buy from the fish sellers in the middle section to the fish restaurants in the surrounding area. They cook, serve with appetizers etc. At Reis Restaurant, we waited 1-1.5 hours for the fish we bought to be cooked and delivered to the table. Maybe they even confused the fish. Reis Restaurant has now become a place where people forget the appetizers we ordered and have difficulty chewing the calamari they cook. Big dissappointment. It is a place that we used to be happy with, but now I would never recommend it. Even though we wanted to serve the fish we bought 4 kilos to 6 people at the table, it was a place that did not do this, and when we asked if we would divide it into six servings, they answered "EXACTLY". They did not change plates & service even once. We had to get up from the table and ask the waiters several times for each order and remind them. We could only tolerate it due to the dedication of the friend who cooked lavash at the stove. Additionally, employees constantly argue among themselves. Stay away. Uzak durun.

They tried to charge 1000 TL for a 600 gram sea bass by saying it was a sea bass weighing over 1 kilo, but if that fish was worth 200 TL and he had charged 50 TL for cooking it, what he should have written was 250 TL. Ruzanna Food & Etc. is a charming foodie haven located across from the marina, offering delectable cakes and pastries, along with top-notch coffee and juices. The modern premises provide an attractive setting for enjoying their superb offerings. Visitors have praised the friendly staff and recommended it as a great spot for dinner or coffee, especially due to its gorgeous view near the harbor.
been there jan`22. americano was the best and there are many more options. the taste for the coffee still keeps up as the beans prices already went crazy in Turkey even everything on market by any means. the stuff is good and the place is boutique though needed a bigger front area to sit and enjoy ur food& coffee. highly recommended. as people are preferring more like on street coffee shops rather then named ones, it is a good option among others.

We’re looking for a vegan friendly restaurant, dropped by this restaurant and end up ordering cucumber sushi and cheeseburger . Value of money: 3/10 Taste:5/10 Vegan:2/10 Burger:2/10 Seating: 8/10 Decor : 9/10 Staff: 9/10 . I would have expected better food for 310 TL . End up going to eat real burger somewhere else and buy my wife real vegan options . Still shout out to Fatih as he really tried to help.. thank you man

Cozy little place. Great staff good food although dishes can use tad more salt.

Absolutely wonderful cafe. Enjoyed several lunches and breakfasts here. The staff is friendly and helpful. My only feedback to the chef/ restaurant manager would be to use ripe avocados that are soft. I ordered sushi and a couple salads with avocado and the avocados each time were hard as a rock with no flavor. Everything else was great!

I’ve been here 2 years ago and the food was really good. I came back this time and I’m trying to keep it respectful but the food is TERRIBLE. The quality of the food (and coffee) is truly horrible. I don’t know what happened, but I feel that the owner doesn’t care about this place anymore and we can taste it in the food. The food is basically tasteless, but you still have to pay high prices. There are many other places around where they give you good quality food for even more affordable prices. The coffee is one of the most horrible coffees I’ve had in Fethiye. The menemen is the worst I ever had in my life. They give us bread which is very old and hard. They gave us a croissant which felt like plastic. It is truly offensive! The coffee tastes like a bunch of nothing. The only good thing I have to say about this place is that the staff is very polite. Other than that: I will never visit again and I will take all my recommendations from my socials (which I placed a few years ago about this place). To the owner of this place I’d like to say: stop insulting people by asking these type of prices while the food you sell deserves even less than a 1 star rate. When you make pancakes, try to make them from scratch and not from a pack from the supermarket and then ask jackpot prices. It is very offensive and your place shouldn’t be called a restaurant or cafe. I hope you treat your staff well because they are the only positive aspect about this place. This place should be called Ruzanna rubbish food & tasteless coffee. To everyone reading this: just skip this place. It’s not worth your time and money! There are better places around Fethiye!

We had Dinner at Megri Restaurant and it was amazing! Located right in the middle of the market they offered amazing food at fair rates. Compared to other restaurants it may be more expensive but the quality you get is great.

Years ago when I first visited Fethiye the Meğri restaurant was great, but it isn't what it once was and is largely riding on it's reputation and it's location these days. Food is average and the service disinterested. There are lots of better, cheaper restaurants in town.

Food was delicious, lots of options, came quickly and everybody thoroughly enjoyed their food. The mixed seafood starter and the lamb chops were particularly good! Location in the market courtyard really let us soak up the atmosphere of Fetiyhe.

A very reasonably price good quality meal in a lovely courtyard setting in the old town. The mezzi was excellent value and the sea bass in lemon sauce was superb. My husband had the chicken skewer which was beautiful too. I'm sure we will be back soon.

Nice spot in the middle of things. The strip steak was above average and my wife loved the chicken fajitas. Extra points for having our favorite Turkish red wine, Doluca. Oh, and the artichoke hearts marinated in olive oil were good too!!

Fantastic choice of meze and main course. I have tried many different dishes here over the years and never had a bad one.
Mike Thomson — Google review
Meğri has a good reputation and an excellent position in the market (although the prices do reflect this). I have eaten here a couple of times and my wife has been here several times. My first experience, a few years ago, was good but my recent visit was a disappointment. One of our meals apparently had nuts in as my wife had an allergic reaction, however the staff did not take this very seriously and denied that anything had any nuts. Fortunately her allergy is not severe, but she then could not eat any of the starters or lovely bread. I had the mixed fish grill which was not at all nice. I'm not sure why but not one of the fish items was nice and I left most of it. Hugely disappointed and probably the worst meal we had during our two week stay!
