Cultural landmark
The Zytglogge is a landmark in Bern, Switzerland that was used as the citys western gate from the 12th century until 1530. It is now home to an astronomical clock and a rotating parade of figurines. The tower is a popular tourist attraction that is seen as an important part of Bern's culture.
If you have the time and budget I highly recommend booking the Clock Tower / Zytglogge tour with the Tourist Information Center at Bern train station. The tour is one hour long and the guide times it so that the group is directly at the mechanisms at the turn of the hour to see exactly how all those wheels and clogs work together to produce the delightful display of dancing figurines witnessed outside.

The Zytglogge is a historic clock tower located in the old town of Bern, Switzerland. Dating back to the early 13th century, it has served various purposes over the centuries, including as a guard tower, prison, clock tower, and civic memorial. The Zytglogge features an astronomical clock with moving figurines that perform a daily show. It's one of Bern's most iconic landmarks and a symbol of the city's medieval heritage. The tower is open to visitors, who can climb to the top for panoramic views of Bern's old town and surrounding area.

Cool clock. One of the many things that makes the cityscape of Bern interesting. Not sure I'd call it a destination in and of itself. But I'm glad I saw it while walking through the city.
Alyssa Becker — Google review
Excellent guided tour and knowledgeable exposition of a fantastic piece of machinery still working after such a long time, with a bonus of breath taking views from the top of the tower.

Bern, the city of bear and big Swiss bank where India s kala dhan, beautiful old monuments and building
Travel With GURMEET — Google review
It’s interesting to consider the engineering required to build this clock, especially hundreds of years ago. That being said, other than being beautiful to look at, the mechanical features aren’t all that impressive. We waited for 15-20 minutes to see it in action and were pretty disappointed after reading such rave reviews
Brisippus — Google review
Exploring the old town in Bern was just lovely. This historical clock tower is from the 13th century! It was a prison before. If you walk on one of the main market streets (near the Einstein Museum) you will pass by.
Stefanie B. — Google review
One side was covered in scaffolding and there is an open public toilet on the road side of the building. So sure, it looks nice on Instagram, but the reality isn’t white as charming.
Tom Beck — Google review
A majestic clock tower right smack in the middle of the Old Town, with busy traffic passing through it. Taking pictures with the tower is a must, though from what we heard there are specific tours that you can take to view inside of the tour so that's a must. Unfortunately we only found out after we left Bern so that's a bummer. Still quite a grand looking building.
Luke Phang — Google review
What a lovely clock, unfortunately we did not get to do the tour in side. Be very careful when viewing the clock as there is a lot of traffic from cars, trams and people.
Tatton Photography — Google review
This is a beautiful clock on the side of a building near a fountain statue. It's beautiful and chimes each quarter hour, and it has a movable display. Normally there seems to be a crowd forming to take photos and video but do be aware this is a roadway with cars, bicycles etc who do not necessarily pay attention to random people looking at a clock.
Katya Maiser — Google review
Bern is very beautiful and the zytglogge is the center attraction!!! Visitors can expect a nice treat starting 4 minutes before the hour!!!
Geoffrey Coulton — Google review
Iconic landmark & tourist magnet in the country’s capital city. The clocktower also hosts an interesting mini museum worth visiting! 🕰️ 🇨🇭

It’s on the old street of Bern. Everyone is waiting for the clock ringing and videoing it. Just take a photo with it to prove u been there 😅 lots to see around.

Enjoyed seeing the Zytglogge up close during a visit to Bern in mid-April 2023. This striking historical landmark is hard to miss while strolling through Old Town Bern. Guided tours of the clock tower are available. Unfortunately for me, I did not have the time to tour the clock tower while in Bern.

Really not sure if this place is worth the hype. We waited half an hour to see the clock strike at five minutes to the hour and then on the hour. It's cute, but nothing worth going out of your way for.
John Hayes (Gavin) — Google review
Zytglogge is a true masterpiece of Swiss engineering and history. The intricate details of the clock's mechanisms are awe-inspiring, and its chimes never fail to captivate both locals and tourists. The charming square it resides in adds to the overall ambiance, making it a must-see landmark that beautifully encapsulates Bern's rich heritage.

Protestant church
Sights & Landmarks
The Bern Cathedral is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Switzerland. It is known for its 1400s stained glass and sculptured portal. The Berner Munster, which is also a popular tourist attraction, was converted from a catholic church into a Swiss Reformed church in the 16th century.
Do you like Harry Potter? Well, then welcome to Hogwarts. The Cathedral has such a great charm, personality and style that it looks like a movie location, and in many corners and details I ensure you'll believe to almost see Harry and his friends, or Silente entering his office. Windows are finely decorated, you'll find different styles and pieces of art, but the central area (around the baptisms place) is pure pure magic. Do you need more? Well, the park next to the church is one of the nicest areas of the whole city, for some relaxation on the grass and an amazing view of the river and surroundings.
226Lab Marketing Agency CH — Google review
I really liked this cathedral. It may not be as grand as some of the others in Europe but it was so peaceful and pleasant inside. You can also climb up to the rooftop for 5 francs. Great views of the city up there!
Ann — Google review
Fantastic Gothic architecture, free entrance and a peaceful environment. It is worth seeing this beautiful church that towers over Bern.
Mike Brewster — Google review
My husband and I decided to do the stair tour, and let me tell you this was one of the best decisions we could have made during our day trip to Bern! The views are BREATHTAKING, and you will NOT be disappointed. Please please don’t miss out on this experience while you are in Bern! It was by far the best part of our day!! It’s 5 CHF per person, but WELL worth the money! We were here on a Friday and there was no wait. Also, the bell goes off everyday at 12pm, and we just by chance were there at 12 when the bell was sounding off! We were able to be in the bell watch tower as this happened and it was such a cool experience! If you can try to plan to be there at 12 when the bell sounds, it’s an amazing experience!

Woooow The place has extraordinary view of Bern City from Top. It's worth to climb 312 spiral stairs to see the City. You have to climb clockwise and anticlockwise. No lift, you will feel dizzy because of anticlockwise.

Beautiful place to visit to enjoy a masterpiece of the church inside. When you're inside the church you will feel really calm every peace of stone and wods from the chair, altar and the walls are so old and when you see close, you can see the small details even you can see the mark from the past. Around the church you can enjoy the beautiful build of the church and beautiful views from the garden and for sure the old town of Bern. Really recommend place to visit while you're in Bern City. There is a warning to not take a picture from inside the church, so please respect the rule there.
Henry — Google review
I was there on a Sunday afternoon and did the tower stairs tour. It was so worth it as the view is breathtaking but sadly, you’re kicked out quicker than I would’ve wanted to be up there for stating that they close by 5pm. But I still enjoyed it

The cathedral is the largest in Switzerland, with construction starting in 1421 and taking several centuries to complete. Its architecture features intricate details, including ornate carvings, stunning stained glass windows, and a magnificent façade. The Münster's tower is the tallest in Switzerland, standing at 100.6 meters (330 feet). Climb the 300+ steps to the top for panoramic views of Bern's Old Town, the Aare River, and the surrounding hills and mountains. It's a rewarding experience for those who enjoy a little adventure.
Y. T. Nixon Tan — Google review
Great view even on a wintery foggy snowy day (we couldn't se a single mountain) - the Bern city is really systematic and nice and the climb is worth it.
janina .cz — Google review
The cathedral built from 1421 onwards reflects political and economic developments in Bern. Its grandiosity is, at the same time, a reflection of the importance of the Catholic Church at the time and the need to demonstrate the power of the government, which was conquering adjacent territories. One of the highlights of the Gothic-style façade is the depiction of the Last Judgment on the main portal. The work is considered one of the most complete collections of European sculptures of this style.

the Cathedral of Bern is beautifully gothic. unlike the other Cathedrals, the structure is just a little different when you go in. the details on the ceiling and all around that is extraordinary. i did the climb up to the top and the view made it very worthwhile! (ps: it is more challenging than it sounds)
Hannah Goh — Google review
So beautiful from outside. The structure is different and unique. Didn't get the chance to visit it from inside as there was a concert inside.

Gothic-style reformed cathedral in the old city of Bern. Takes a 5 Swiss franc entry fee and a solid climb up a winding fleet of stairs, but provides the reward of the highest 360-degree outlook in town! Unparalleled view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountain chain & old city center! 🇨🇭 🗻 ❤️ PS: There's also a lovely park adjacent to the cathedral.
Christian Tohmé — Google review
The Bern Minster is located in the heart of Bern's old town and is easily accessible by bus or tram. Entry is free and you can also take photos inside. The bell can be visited and entry costs CHF 5.00. The path up to the platform is very steep and has many stairs. Once at the top you will be rewarded with a great view over the city of Bern and the surrounding area. You can then go up the stairs to the top platform.

The inside is free nice church. The top has Beautiful views at admission only $5 for going up the tower, it’s around 350 steps to the very top. good exercise. You can see all of Bern up here. Definitely recommend.

Bern Cathedral, built in 1421, is a Christian church with three narrow passages and a model of late Gothic architecture in Switzerland. Its tower is 100 meters high, which is the tallest building in Switzerland, and you can enjoy the medieval street view of Bern from the tower. The main attraction of the church is the magnificent relief created by Erhart Küng on the front of the church. In addition, the stained glass skylights and the beautifully carved choir seats in the church are all worth seeing. There is also a pipe organ composed of 5404 brass pipes built in 1726. It is the largest pipe organ in Switzerland and can be heard during regular concerts or Christmas. From the top of the tower, you can reach the top of the tower through 344 steps spiraling up from the church door, overlooking and overlooking the snow-capped Bernese Oberland peaks in the distance.

Lots of stairs but worth it, great view of the city and the Aare.

Access to the tower is only 5 francs, so probably the cheapest thing you'll pay for on a trip to Switzerland. Walking to the top you get an interesting inside view of the architecture and the views from the top are great. If the weather is good it's a must-do activity for tourists in Bern

Modern art museum
Museums
Zentrum Paul Klee is a modern art museum located in Bern, Switzerland. It features two exhibition halls that display paintings, drawings, and watercolours by the renowned Swiss artist Paul Klee. Designed by the acclaimed architect Renzo Piano, the museum's distinctive 150m-long wave-like structure houses a rotating collection of Klees' works from his prolific and often playful career.
Wow, beautiful building, kids playground, great two art shows. The building is impressive, glass walls and lots of space.
Mario Stipetic — Google review
The architecture is stunning and therefore totally worth the visit. The café inside is nice too, restaurant nearby great and lots of land to walk around. Exhibitions: Paul Klee has a fascinating story, the exhibition I saw (not sure if permanent or changing) wasn't as fascinating as the story...the changing exhibition of art brut artist was somewhat interesting and the tour we took helped a lot (great tour guide) still, at 20CHF per entrance (plus 5chf for tour) it is overpriced- 10-12CHF should be sufficient

Incredible museum with a great mission. Includes various Klee exhibits but also other artists, music, and educational activities in a beautiful space.
Jonathan Posthuma — Google review
I had studied at the university and today I saw the original papers. A well-organized exhibition, distributed in space according to the author's creativity and life. Interactive involving visitors to draw something inspired by the exhibited works. A wonderful staff. The space outside and inside offered places where you can read books, rest, etc. Very clean area. With toilets and a water fountain outside where you can drink fresh water. Free entry! Every Saturday during the month of August 23', you can visit all museums for free.

The building is already a masterpiece by the Italian Renzo Piano, so beautiful so modern, I unfortunately has the occasion to visit only one exhibition ´ Klee, Chaplin, Sonderegger’ but it’s amazing show with a great collection

Modern museum with a unique arquitecture. Inside the public spaces and the exhibition halls are beautiful and amazingly designed. The exhibition itself was nothing extraordinary just great...👍🏻Paul Klee deserved to be named after...yeah 😎

Zentrum Paul Klee is a museum dedicated to Bern’s favourite artist Paul Klee - an important 20th century Classic Modernist artist. The museum has an architecturally pleasing exterior with its wave-like form signifying the artist’s fascination with water and nature and how humans integrate with it. The interior is clean and uncluttered and makes for a very pleasing viewing experience. I chose the audio guide and it accurately reflects Klee’s inspirations and events in his life. For Paul Klee fans it would be an awe inspiring experience. For those who don’t know him then it may not overwhelm you. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and getting to know his life better. Mind you they have over 4000 pieces of the artist and roughly 100 pieces are on display so much is in storage. I particular enjoyed Pomona, Overripe and Seasnail King. The admission was included with the Swiss Travel Pass and the audio guide cost me 6 CH. Washrooms and lockers are in the basement. Overall a great experience for me. For those who don’t know him then maybe less than inspiring.

Liberating space dedicated with loving care to a complicated man with a complex legacy and his art. Highly recommended. Has a great space for kids and is highly accessible
Andrey Lipattsev — Google review
Beautiful exhibition space celebrating Paul Klee’s life and work. Gorgeous building by Renzo Piano. Surely would want to return there on my next visit in and around Bern. A bit on the pricey side, especially for families, factoring in parking fees, the down-sized viewing of Klee’s work, and expensive gift items. Also, not all of Paul Klee’s most cherished works are available for sale as postcards. I really missed seeing his watercolors done in Tunisia. There was nothing on display or available for sale as postcards. The documentary movie about Paul Klee’s life was very good and worth the time. I will surely visit again, but next time, structure my visit around an event or exhibition of interest.
Eva Schicker — Google review
We love Paul Klee's work, and stopping to see this museum while touring Switzerland is a must-do for us. It's well worth planning extra time to also see a traveling exhibit and walk through the grounds.

The biggest collection of Paul Klee’s masterpieces. Absolutely beautiful park and a building. A lot of nice temporary exhibition. Master classes for children are also organized. Definitely worth to visit.
Uliana Dolyniak — Google review
A spectacular arrival with a building emerging from the ground by the architect RENZO PIANO. The forms blend perfectly with the landscape, almost disappearing into it. Once inside three interconnected buildings. One with restaurant and seminar, one with perpetual and ephemeral collection, one with research center. It is very pleasant to look at every corner of this building. For the exhibitions, that of Paul Klee in the basement retraces its history very well through its evolution, and there are opportunities to create things. For the ephemeral exhibition for me it was Joan Miro. A very interesting installation with very beautiful pieces to discover. For the shop I find that something is missing, I think there are many ways to improve it. Unmissable passage for those who appreciate art and for others too with magnificent views.
Guy Heimburger — Google review
Awesome place. The architecture of the zentrum Paul Klee is like a magnet attracting one into it. I expected to see more works of Klee, but this collection was good, too. Very well maintained, friendly personal, well situated, and easily accessible with the tram (No.12).
Arthi Bucher — Google review
This is definitely one of the top museums for modern art in Switzerland, honoring its citizen Paul Klee. Just now there are two exhibitions, one presenting his contemporary, Juan Miró and the second, featuring a selection of Klee's work, called "the technical frenzy of Klee". Both are extremely interesting and should not be missed. The premises are beautiful and themselves worth a visit and the museum shop is of high quality. We particularly like the Klee postcard section where you will always find something appealing to send to you friends or beloved ones. A must when visiting Berne.

Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
The Gurten is a prominent mountain peak in Bern, which offers spectacular views of the city. The peak can be climbed using the cable funicular, and is also accessible by foot. In summer, you can swim in the Aare River at this spot while in winter you can go sledding at Gurten hill.
Exceptional local Hausberg in the Koeniz region. It's a lovely hike up from the Gurten tram station, but I would recommend crampons during the winter because the trail freezes over with the temperature change. Lovely views all around, a place for kids to play, and numerous options for eating and drinking. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Nice view, very busy although I didn't visited during the weekend. There were many kids around. Very easy access from Bern city. The path for going up walking is nice and easy, around 40 min.

It is a very nice place where you can see the whole Bern city and beyond. You can reach the top by funicular or you can walk around 15-20 min. There is a tower from where you can see mountains chains. Just be sure there are no clouds.

It's a beautiful small hill in Bern. Hiking and funicular options are available. With the city pass the funicular is for free. If you are lucky with bright sky then you can even see the alps and Jungfrau as well. The city view in lights is mesmerizing. There is a restaurant available on top of the hill where you can enjoy some food as well. There is a play area for children also available.

Recommend going on a sunny day, and preferably not Sunday. The toboggan ride was closed and views were good but not great (it was raining). If you’re staying at a hotel in Bern, your guest pass will allow you to ride the funicular for free. You could also hike up/down. We walked to Gurtendorf which was a sweet, tiny, village with a dairy farm. It’s definitely chillier and windier due to the elevation gain so pack a light jacket!

Nice short hike from Bern, do not miss the tower to get a 360 view of the region. There is also a hotel, restaurants, summer sled track, mountain bike trail, and a nice park.

Beautiful peak with 360 degrees view of the entire area. To get to the mountain top you can either take the tram (half priced for Swiss pass) or take the walking trail up. Portions of the trail has stairs and paved road making it very easy to climb. On top there are restroom facility, restaurant and amusement park, not to mention a spectacular view.

A great place in Bern to go and relax and spend time in nature. The mountain/hill is home to several farms and offers splendid views over Bern to the north as well as the Alps to the south. There are many hiking paths, as well as a downhill mountain bike track. In summer there are grill spots with free wood. Walking through the forest always gives me a bit of a reset.

History Museums
The Einstein House in Bern, Switzerland was the second-floor flat rented by Albert Einstein during the 1900s. This historical site showcases period furniture, books, and photographs that offer a vivid glimpse into his home environment during his time there. It is an important place for art lovers as well, being located in the medieval city of Bern which houses one of Switzerland's largest and finest collections of artwork at the Museum of Fine Arts.
Visited the museum today and it was amazing. I've always heard that he's had a small apartment in Bern while studying at the University and I've finally got to visit it. The museum manages to offer insights into his life, love and family. You can visit the museum for CHF6 and you can get the entrance tickets at the door without having to book in advance.
Sanka Illangakoon — Google review
We had the Swiss Travel Pass and it was 50% off. We were in Old Town and way back to our hotel. The museum only took cash so we had to go to an ATM. Luckily, we made it just before they closed. Einstein really didn’t live here very long and the display is small. If we were constraint with time, we would have not bothered.
Catherine Hunt — Google review
Very small, few things to look at. Is good if you don’t know anything about Einstein. Don’t recommend it, better go to the museum.
Emilio Aguilera — Google review
The movie in the documentary room was informative and I certainly learned a few things I didn’t know about Einstein before, the museum is elaborate and the house although renovated in some parts is well kept in most.. the lady at the bill counter was very friendly and happily guided me around.. I got a few accessories and she offered good advise about carrying and transferring them..!! I love the experience.. just next to the house is astronomical clock. It was surreal to walk the street that Einstein walked and see from the window, the view that he did. I would highly recommend this place to fellow nerds :)
monica malik — Google review
Although the Einstein Cafe extends through the block so there are entrances on two parallel streets, you can only access the narrow stairway going up to the museum from Kramgasse. The approximately 10 minutes video is very good, it details his whole life.
Lawrence Edelman — Google review
Sweet little museum with TONS of info about Einstein. He was a deadbeat dad and they only briefly touch on that, but I guess a museum devoted to him is not likely to be particularly critical. I always enjoy preserved/restored spaces, so it was nice to see the rooms he and his family lived in briefly. The price was very reasonable and there were only a couple other people there. We definitely enjoyed it.
Ashley Quilty — Google review
It's a very steep walking up the stairs. When you reach the 1st floor then you have to purchase the ticket. It's all Einstein's information written on the wall regarding himself and his family. There's some of the family clothing, work table, family photos and his living room featured in this museum. We did not spend a lot of time here. Since the building is old, there's no lift to go up and down.
Noorzidah M N — Google review
the house of Einstein, a piece of history that is worth a visit when in Bern. note that there are a lot of stairs. there is also a short film, which paints a clear picture of Einstein's milestones.

Not worth visiting! The first floor is only his living room and the second floor is a museum.

Einstein’s former apartment in Switzerland’s capital city, now turned into a mini museum. Offers a glimpse into the rich life of world’s E=mc2 genius. Watch out for his school grades, which demonstrate that you don’t have to be the best in everything to change the course of the world! And don’t miss grabbing a coffee at the Einstein coffee shop just beneath the museum. 🇨🇭💡☕️

The Einsteinhaus (Einstein House) is a museum and a former residence of Albert Einstein. It is located on Kramgasse No. 49 in Bern, Switzerland. A flat on the second floor of the house was occupied by Einstein, his wife Mileva Marić, and their son Hans Einstein from 1903 to 1905. The Annus Mirabilis papers, which presented Einstein's theory of relativity and contributed substantially to the foundation of modern physics, were written here and published in the Annalen der Physik. During this time Einstein worked at the Federal Institute of Intellectual Property.
Irshad CK — Google review
As the name suggests, Albert Einstein used to live here for a brief moment before he became famous. There are only two floors you can visit, one floor is preserved with furnitures while the other consists of information board detailing his life. The museum is mostly focused on his family and if you want more information about his impact and work, you'll need to visit the Bern Museum. Personally it gave me a brief insight into his life, though the museum was slightly underwhelming. Entrance fee is 6 Francs but you'll get a slight discount with Swiss Travel Pass. There's also a cafe downstairs the museum that is more interesting I feel.

That was Dream come true moment for me. Feel very fortunate and proud to see the whole space of one of the greatest scientists whom we read in science, one and only Mr. Albert Einstein 🙏😍 Absolute thrilling.. आइंस्टीन चाचा की जय हो 😀🙏(Hail Uncle Einstein 😀🙏)

This is a great exhibit and museum for science lovers and history buffs alike. Located right in the heart of Bern, it is centrally located around many other sites. The first floor of the exhibit demonstrates Einstein's living area and in the second floor, which is up a tight spiral staircase, provides an excellent overview of Einstein's life and professional accomplishments. The copy on the exhibits is very well done and is very enjoyable to read. The receptionist was very nice and it is well worth the 7 Swiss francs to visit.
Brandon Foltz — Google review
Pricey for what it is. I think if it was cheaper I'd recommend stopping by but probably not worth it unless you're a big fan of Einstein's work. I paid 7 CHF, didn't see anything about a discount with Swiss pass. I heard someone say it so I went back to the woman at the desk to tell her I had a Swiss pass and didn't realise and she said she couldn't refund me the money. Whether that's true or not I don't know but I felt she was very unhelpful and not very friendly.
SB — Google review
I ask myself why i skipped the visit since many years in the region, it is my fault surely but also the tourism office do not advertise this spot which is full of great information about Einstein and his wife (only scientific female in the same uni as Einstein). The video show in ENG was very good too. One thing which is sad i found was the error of a date on one of the posters. Such a museum should be able re-print that visual 😉

The centrally located Restaurant Rosengarten in Bern's beautiful park offers a stunning view of the city's old town from its elevated terrace. It is especially recommended during the winter months for its exceptional fondue experience, enjoyed on the Fondue-Veranda with a private fireplace.
Highly recommend! The view is just absolutely stunning! And the food is tasty (I ordered the cold beef and it’s yummy!). It can be very crowded but the service is great and fast! And it opens on Sunday! If you want the best seat to enjoy the city view you need to make a reservation. If you just want to enjoy the outdoor seating you still get a good view and I didn’t even have to wait to get a seat without making the reservation. I will definitely come back again especially during the sunset time, it would be an amazing experience to enjoy dinner and watch sunset!

Amazing food next to a beautiful view of Bern. The service was also very good. Even though it is located in such a beautiful setting the prices are relatively cheap. Would definitely recommend.

Very nice place, lovely atmosphere, good food and amazing view of the city! It was full in the evening, so booking of the table is highly recommended. Quite a spacious place.

Great hospitality, food took a bit long to arrive - I was hungry! But they were pretty tasty! Great view on the outside. Recommend to come during sunset time, it’s gorgeous!

A fabulous dining spot in top of Bern city and the interior and exterior milieu are fabulous. An excellent place to take a date or friends for a nice meal. Prices are decent for Bern standards and food quality is good. Staff can speak multiple languages and quite customer friendly and nice. Recommend trying out the restaurant experience.

Exceptional views of the city of Bern, friendly staff, and delicious food. We were a group of nine, so a reservation was required. We ordered the spaghetti a la vongole, a salmon tartar, and pork tenderloin, and two different types of fondue. All enjoyed their meal. Worth a visit.

Food, Service, Location.....everything is perfect. I had course dinner of cheese fondue. It was very good especially dry-cured ham plate is amazing.

It’s a super nice restaurant. I’ve been here at least 5 times over the last few years. However the portions are getting smaller and smaller. See the size of the fork and the meat 😑😂. Otherwise it tastes really good and the service is also great!

Great place. Amazing location on a hill which provides you with the best view over Bern. There is a flower garden next to it. The waiters and the service were fast, welcoming and professional. We sat outside but due to the storm we went in. The table was reserved but they let us sit anyway until they would arrive. I had a few beers in a rush so I didn’t get to see more.

Absolutely recommend! The view alone makes it all worthwhile but our dishes were also delicious. Definitely a great way to make the most of your day in Bern!

Posh restaurant with tasty food and drinks in the capital city’s finest park garden. Unbeatable view of the old town and a short stroll downhill to the city’s bears! No Berne trip will be complete without a pitstop! 🏞️🌹🥗☕️🇨🇭

The place view was really great up the hill and you can see the whole city from above. The food was good.

This is a good place overlooking Bern from above. Be careful, it's very touristic, so it's better to book your table in advance. Also, the parking lot is too small and there is a high chance of staying without any. The cuisine is okay, but the service is slow. The view to Bern is wonderful though. You can also visit the charming park Rosengarten - it's really beautiful and deserves a visit.

Great spot for sunset in Bern with good value for money. We had the sausage with vegetables and the Turkish platter with hummus and other dips. The waiter Sebastian was amazing, very friendly and fast. We will come back!
Jessica Bello Salguero — Google review
Decidedly a tourist’s destination restaurant, the staff was nice, and I cannot stress this enough: THE VIEWS CANNOT BE BEAT. I went just after sunset, and it was surreal. The food is just ok, but reasonably priced. The Beer selection is limited, but delicious.
R Brian Cutler — Google review
We got an iced coffee latte, beer and lemon basil gnocchi. The latte was probably by far the worst coffee I’ve had in Switzerland. It lacked flavor and texture was bad too. The lemon basil gnocchi was amazing though. The sauce is not too creamy with a strong lemon flavor. The garnish on the top is a potato chip. They also give you complimentary rye bread, but it wasn’t heated or had butter/ oil for dipping. The view was amazing. Supposedly, a lot of the tables with the best views were “reserved”… they weren’t taken by the time we finished so it was very questionable. The staff does their job, but they’re neither happy or angry. Seems like they’re just going through the motions.
Meng-Hua Wu — Google review
I recommend this restaurant if you are looking for dinner with a view! I definitely recommend making a reservation as it is always packed. I tried to reserve a table closest to the city view but was unable to. Totally fine because you can still see the city from far. The food was good, staff was friendly, and price was expensive but expected for the location.

Klösterli Weincafe offers a wine and coffee bar in an urban-rural mix of Bernese styles from the 18th century. The restaurant's upper gallery features exposed beams and elegant lighting, while the lower stable has been converted into a stylish bar with a four meter high wine rack. The carefully chosen selection of dishes includes cheese and cured-meat plates, favoring regional producers where possible. Klösterli Weincafe is wheelchair accessible and accepts reservations.
Staffs are very friendly and speak english very well. Great steak but quite expensive. Good choice of wines.

I had the pleasure of dining at this amazing restaurant and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The amazing tartare was a burst of flavors that danced on my palate, while the goat cheese mousse added a creamy and tangy twist that was simply divine. The star of the show, the Vosne Romanée Cuvée Quatrain red wine, was a perfect companion, enhancing every bite with its rich notes and velvety texture. A culinary masterpiece paired with a wine that elevates the dining experience to new heights. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Had a great dinner at Klosterli Weincafe. Food was innovative and well executed, and the service was very friendly. In particular, the tomato soup was creative with complementary flavors and textures. The chicken dish was also a standout. The sausage was delicious and clearly homemade. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor terrace and we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance. For those visiting Bern, this is one of the few restaurants in the city open on Sundays, so highly recommend making a reservation to come here.

Swiss restaurant
The Kornhauskeller is a swiss restaurant with an impressive vaulted space and relaxed vibe, that serves Mediterranean, Swiss, and Bernese cuisine. It has a popular following for its fine dining experience and stunning Baroque architecture.
Treated my family for lunch here. Lovely atmosphere and great service! We had bone marrow, Berner plate, salmon and Sweet Chubu Symphony dessert. All perfect! Great to come at lunch on weekdays as they offer business lunch menus at a much better price compared to a la carte.

It’s a really beautiful restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere. The food was very good. And the bar upstairs was also very well decorated and the drinks were very good. It was a good experience in general. Just beeing there it’s already special since the place it’s so unique.

Place looks gorgeous, however, we were waiting long time to be served. Aperol spritz had no alcohol at all. High prices made us think food is lovely, unfortunately out of 3 starters and 3 main dishes ONLY carrot/orange soup and baked Trout was delicious. Not even once we were approached by the waiter/waitress after we received the food. We definitely WONT come back.

The food was quite good - we had the beef tartare to start, and tenderloin and char as mains. It's more about the venue than the food though - the huge, historic room with its arched ceilings is unique and very impressive.

Pleasant dimly lit restaurant located in the basement of what used to be a wine cellar with grand decor. We came late so had a easy time getting a table, but otherwise it was pretty booked. Service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was great; the waitress recommended a superb Berner Geschnetzelts (veal strips) dish with rösti. It came on top of a warmer as a stew with bread. The rest of the dishes were also very nice too. Kids even have a great deal; children under 12 have a 15 CHF fixed price on any dish. We will definitely come back the next time we are in the area.

I felt right at home. Service is good, polite & prompt. Ambience is great. Food from main to dessert is excellent, taste on point. The minestrone's taste was a bit flat tho. However, the restaurant's attention to details gave me a good impression of a well-rounded establishment.

If I can only give them 10*, I will... service was really great from start of booking until our event was finished. They are so versatile, customer service excellent delivery. Stepping into Kornhauskeller in Bern is like stepping back in time, yet the experience is anything but dated. From the moment you walk down the grand staircase, you're enveloped in an atmosphere that is both majestic and warmly inviting. The stunning architecture, with its high vaulted ceilings and intricate designs, transports you to a different era, making the dining experience truly unique. The menu is a delightful fusion of traditional Swiss cuisine with a modern twist, ensuring that there's something to tantalize every palate. Each dish is a masterpiece of flavor, meticulously prepared and beautifully presented, showcasing the chefs' commitment to excellence. The fondue, in particular, is a must-try, offering a rich and creamy taste of Switzerland's culinary heritage. Service at Kornhauskeller is impeccable. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always ready to recommend a perfect wine pairing from their extensive selection. They make you feel genuinely cared for, adding a personal touch that elevates the dining experience. Kornhauskeller isn't just a restaurant; it's a destination. Whether you're there for a romantic evening, a special celebration, or a casual night out, it promises an unforgettable experience. The bar area, with its cozy ambiance, is the perfect spot to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or linger over a nightcap..

Food and service is awful, we’ve been waiting for an hour to order our food and get our bill due to the waiter never comes to us after noticing and at the same time the whitefish dish is really salty and the lamb is really gross in taste a horrible fishy taste. Would only recommend the environment

In Kornhauskeller, we met haute cuisine, a warm atmosphere and excellent service. Here we reserved a post-conference dinner, and this restaurant met all our expectations. Communication with restaurant management was delightful; they gave good course recommendations that satisfied our international colleagues' varied tastes. We will recommend this restaurant both for private dates and official events.

Bern is one of the most beautiful and pleasant cities in Switzerland. With a lot of charming places to explore. One of those places that deserves a visit is the Kornhauskeller. It's both a bar and a restaurant in a breathtaking "basement." If you choose to eat, then make sure to make a reservation. If you just want to sip a cocktail or other fine drink, then you can just take a seat at the bar or in one of the lounge chairs. Obviously it's not the cheapest place but given the location right in the city centre and the atmosphere, it's worth it.
Wim Saelen — Google review
Sadly, the restaurant was disappointing. While the food was great, it’s just not acceptable to be left waiting for 40 minutes before receiving the drinks ordered right after arriving. 40 minutes at an empty table just ruins the mood. And it did not get better afterwards. Some things we ordered were simply forgotten. The bar is still my absolute favourite in Bern though, maybe even in Switzerland. Und das sägi als Zürcher :)
Leo Wehrli — Google review
The atmosphere is incredible and the interior looks gorgeous. The service was amazing with friendly staff. I didn't like the food though. I took a salmon dish, which was sour, cold, and a few slices of salmon fish and a lot of rucola vegetable which I don't like at all. Maybe I am from Armenia and the taste I have differs from here. But definitely in Armenia with the same money you can taste something very delicious...
Rima Pipoyan — Google review
Let’s start where it hurts: the terrible service we received tonight. It seemed indeed that the young man responsible for our table was overloaded, but it doesn’t excuse the swearing we heard from him in the background. It took ages just to be able to have him come for the dessert order after several requests. Then, when the dessert arrived, it wasn’t what we ordered. We asked if this is the Winter Plumb and Cinnamon Ice Cream. « Yes it is ». Then, confused, we tried, called him again « where is the cinnamon ice cream? » and he pointed at some vanilla mousse and went away. We asked a manager, and he confirmed its the wrong dessert. On the food side, the Winter dishes were very good (enjoyed the chestnut soup and Gluwine Plumb with cinnamon ice cream). The traditional Berner main course was pretty standard. While you can’t beat the atmosphere of such a place, the service was just a painful experience.

Welcome to Wein & Sein, a unique Euro-restaurant located in one of Bern’s famed wine cellars. Offering both lunch and evening menus with an extensive wine selection, Wein&Sein is perfect for foodies looking to explore Swiss and central European cuisine in an amusing and atmospheric setting.
We have celebrated my husband's birthday at Wein & Sein and it was just amazing. The food was extremely delicious and creative. The place was nice, very calm and elegant. The service perfect. They even came up with a birthday cake with candles at the end. We highly recommend!

(Translated by Google) Our eater was great! We were served very politely and courteously throughout the evening. Nothing goes unnoticed by the staff and they are always ready and available to meet your every need. I find it very practical to be able to decide how many courses should be accompanied. For me, 4 courses were completely enough. My partner, on the other hand, wanted to add another one. I would happily recommend the wine accompaniment. I was able to taste many interesting wines this way. Everyone was very consistent with the dish. My partner was also allowed to enjoy the meal, but she wanted a non-alcoholic alternative. I was really amazed at what alternatives came out of the bar. Everything is very consistent and convincing. The only negative point is the stairs. When I went up, I no longer noticed the concrete surface, but I felt it 😅 Wein & Sein is for full enjoyment, not for a small budget. However, I really enjoyed every course and am happy to recommend it.

This was probably one of my best dining experiences in Switzerland. I booked dinner for my wife's birthday on la fourchette for a Friday night. We were trying to find the restaurant but kept walking past it, as Google maps took us to the spot where the restaurant is, but we didn't know that we had to be on the outside of the sidewalk and go down the stairs to the basement. Once we found it though, we were quickly seated and offered a drink and an amuse bouché. I liked the ambient music and lighting. The music was not loud, which allows for conversation without having to yell across the table. The restaurant seemed full, but not in a crowded way. The restaurant has it's courses set up in a way where you aren't brought a menu, but rather you can choose options within a a course. We chose the 3 entrées, and opted for the wine pairings, which was great. The food was amazing. Each dish had lots of flavor and was unlike plain traditional cuisine. After we finished our main, which i believe was veal steak, we were offered either dessert or a platter of cheese. As we asked for the bill, we were also offered some house made chocolate, which was a nice final touch. Most surprisingly however, i had added a note on la fourchette that this was a birthday dinner, and we were surprised with a cake and candle. This was a great end to the experience. The staff was also genuinely friendly and happy, which we both enjoyed.

My recent visit was nothing short of a five-star gastronomic delight. The creativity showcased in every dish was truly inspiring, evidence of an artist in the kitchen rather than just a chef. What struck me as particularly commendable was the delicate balance of scents. Unlike several culinary establishments in Switzerland, which tend to overuse perfumes, the aromatics here were wonderfully nuanced and restrained. They enhanced rather than overwhelmed the palate, making each bite a revelation. To label this one of the best experiences in the region is an understatement. The carefully curated cuisine, the harmonious fusion of flavors, and the meticulous attention to detail elevate it to a whole new level. This restaurant is not just a place you should visit, but a destination you must experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable culinary journey.

Brasserie
Jack's Brasserie is a great place to go for French food and drinks in Bern. The casual atmosphere and fresh ingredients make it a popular choice for lunchtime, and the sizeable wine menu means that whatever your taste, you're likely to find something to your liking.
This is a truly great restaurant to visit when you're in Bern! It's a bit pricey (just as everything in Switzerland, so I guess it's no surprise) but the food was phenomenal and the service even better. The lobster bisque was phenomenal and the steak was made to the right temperature and prepared very well. Overall we had a great experience for a dinner service and I strongly recommend trying this place out!

Will start with the good: Beautiful atmosphere and the service was excellent. The food was presented nicely. Negative: The food was severely mediocre and equal to what would be served at a tourist trap. It could be so much better. You could tell that that Zurcher Geschnetzelts was cooked in a big batch and had been sitting for awhile. Not freshly fried in a pan the way it should be.

Overall I think Jack Brassiere has lost its reputation and stature . Dishes that you see on Google are no longer existed : seafood tower , schweinshaxe .. Foods are ok , but not exceptional . Lamb tenderloin is good but poulet with supreme sauce not as expected Wines by the bottle are a lot more expensive than Zermatt . Services are slow , slow .. Hopefully they will be better next year .

We had a wonderful experience. My wife was desperate for a martini and although it was not on the menu, they went above and beyond to make sure it exceeded our expectations. The staff was wonderful, kind, and the food was devine. We intended to stop by only for an appetizer and ended up staying for a full meal as we discovered the flavors and service to be phenomenal. At the end of our meal, we were unexpectedly offered a selection of Swiss chocolates and fruit jellies to choose from which turned out to be a highlight of the meal and sent us off wanting to come back. Looking forward to our next trip to Bern and to Jack's Brasserie.

Great food, fair price for the quality you get (still pricy of course, but hey, it’s a location with 14 Gault Millau points currently :)). Amazing variety of quality wines.
