Outdoor Activities
Situated in the northern region, El Cotillo Beach is renowned and impressive, with its notable stretches including Playa de los Lagos and Playa de la Concha. These two beaches are practically interconnected, featuring clear waters and fine sand that won't adhere to your feet. For a glimpse of the Faro del Toston lighthouse, visitors can head to Playa de los Charcos, which offers even clearer waters than its counterparts and is an idyllic haven for sun worshippers.
A lovely beach with natural lagoons. The coast line is quite rugged in parts however there are still plenty of sandy parts to sun bathe and the area has the typical Fuerteventura stone/ lava walled wind protecting "houses". As always please pick up your litter and take it home to help protect the beauty of the area and the wildlife living there.

Lovely beach with sandy shore and crystal clear lagoons. It is about 15 mins walking from the bus stop. There are toilets and showers near the life guard. We prepared drink and food for the day because restaurans and shops are not near. Naturists and bikini sunbathers next to each other with no problem.

Love El Cotillo, there are turquoise, clear lagoons protected from the big waves on one side of town. The big, wild beach at the other side of town is good fun for waves. The town itself has gorgeous little shops and restaurants. Being on the west coast of the island too means that it’s a great spot for sunsets.

Had nice rock barrier to break wind. Plenty of sealift aswell. Overall you will get a tan

Lovely peaceful beach. Water is shallow so great for small kids. Lovely contrast of black basalt rocks and white sand. Toilets at la concha.

Lovely beach. The sand is so fine, and sea is crystal clear. Lovely little rock pools by the oceans edge

Very clean water, nice sand. It can get very windy. Lots of parking along the coast.

Been a few times to this beach and it lovely and clean. Our 3 yr old grandson loved playing on the sand and in the water. It is a nudist beach as well 😎 we also went in the evening to watch sunset which I'd stunning highly recommend this. El Cotillo is a beautiful place to visit.
Catherine Bennett — Google review
Nice town, great beaches, especially when the conditions are good you can see some nice waves
Ton Wever — Google review
Very long, sandy and shallow entrance, probably good for families with small children. Didn't notice any shower around.

A wonderful beach full of rock pools and fish. Great to swim in. A word of warning - it's a naturist beach 🏖

Amazing beach. White sands which makes also the water look turquoise, small lagunas with calm waters and then big waves further if you wish to have some fun. Not busy usually, restaurants few hundred metres away, car park close by. This place is great for relaxing and enjoying the view.

This was the most magical evening. We got a table right at the front of the terrace and had a fantastic view over the sea and sunset. The baby squid were super soft and not chewy at all. The main (fish for two) was perfect and the polenta that came with it tasted very unique. We can 100% recommend. Decent price for what you get :) definitely ask for a table at the end of the terrace overlooking the ocean if you’re coming for sunset :)

Castle
The Toston Castle, also known as the Castillo del Toston, was constructed in the 18th century to safeguard the city from attacks by North African raiders, English forces, and French invaders. Located strategically on Fuerteventura Island, it played a crucial role in facilitating trade of cereals, livestock, and cochineal. This fortress is an expansive circular tower built using gray lava stone.

Castillo del Toston is a very popular tourist destination. Just on the edge of the town with white sand beaches. Fhishing and surfing are possible. Just Beautiful. Rough dirt road brings you to several stops by the coast. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. It is also a place to see a skeleton of a water animal found by archeologists. Couple of old ovens and a nice Bay to see. Plenty of shops nearby with toilets. Car park is free near the monuments. Very windy coast. Recommended it for anyone.

In El Cotillo, there are several restaurants that specialize in fresh fish and offer incredible views. Among them are LA VACA AZUL and EL MIRADOR. Another option is the AZZURRO Italian Restaurant, which is located across from Playa de la Concha. One of the standout choices is RESTAURANTE EL ROQUE LOS PESCADORES, known for its simplicity and delicious Canarian cuisine. This restaurant also offers views of El Cotillo castle.
Awesome quality food and service, fish soup to die for! My personal recommendation: try the eggplant with honey sauce, it's so delicious, you will remember the taste for a long time. Hopefully I will have a chance to eat here again, 5 stars!
Piotr Zawieja — Google review
Obviously a very popular fish resteraunt. There was complimentary bread and canarian dips or sauces. We started with garlic prawns which came very quickly. They were already shelled. Thankfully we shared this as it was a very large portion size and very tasty. We both had a cod dish, one was the Chefs Cod and the other was Cod with a leek sauce. Both beautifully cooked, if being critical it was a little too salty for both of us. Both also came with paprika strands on top, never seen that before, a nice touch. Service was superb and you could see how busy the open kitchen was. Prices were pretty good with a good selection of wines, by 1/2 litre, bottle or glass for most.

Friendly waitstaff and quick service. The food was delicious and affordable. We had a really nice time and view to the sea.

Starter portions of Squid and Eel were massive, possibly too big! I had the lamb, fantastic, MrscS had the Goat, decent but not as good as other places in town. Overall, worth another visit. Sea views and nice wine list.
Rob Smallwood — Google review
Great selection of starters and main courses. Location is great and the views are stunning both in the day and during sunset.
Ning Kedwards — Google review
Our tour guide recommended the restaurant for lunch. It was really good, the fish was fresh, and the Canarian sauces were super good. It was really filling. However, we were quite disappointed as there was no murène or chevreau the day we went despite being on the menu. As it was quite different than what we were use to see in other restaurants we were looking forward. But it was still nice. I will only remove one star because of this and the fact that it was quite expensive.

3x yes! It looks like a place for rich adult, elegant people. But we ve been here three times in adidas trousers and.. nothing happened except that we ate very very good paella mariscos, fish soup and PISTACHIO CULANT WHICH IS A M A Z IN G ❤️ don’t be afraid of white tables and looking posh interior Just give yourself a pleasure and visit this place. Service is cool and super nice ❤️

A trip to the vicinity of El Toston lighthouse or tower presents an excellent opportunity to acquaint oneself with the area. During the era of Castilian conquest, this village emerged as a significant trading hub for products like orchella weeds, grains, and livestock. Located in the northwest of Fuerteventura, El Cotillo is a small town that offers splendid views of the Atlantic Ocean.
JACQUI is for sure the best cook in town; and beside of making very good and varied dishes, she making up the plate with love. Everything very fresh, very rich, delicious and with a lot of love. Different from other places in Cotillo! 👌🏾😍

Oh well.. I am being nice by giving 2 stars but honestly it doesn't deserve more than 1. Frozen food is what you get here ... it probably was a 4+ star restaurant before but not now.. its ashame, they have a great location and probably intentions (but that's not enough to run a restaurant)...they don't have good food at all.. burgers definitely with frozen meat, salmon horrible! Hard and tasteless, chicken Kiev definitely packed-frozen..I think tomatoes and onions were the only fresh food they had. And Not exactly cheap.

I can’t wait to visit El Toston in El Cotillo again in a few months, the food, drinks and hostess are in my opinion the best. I noticed that a lady made a unfair comment back in April ! I recall dining that particular evening as it was extremely busy and a family of 7 arrived without booking asking for a table. I remember this as the owners moved seating around inside to accommodate a wheelchair. I feel I is such a shame the about lady left a negative review after the owners made such a great effort to make them feel welcome and comfortable. I have worked in the hospitality industry most of my very old life and still can honestly say the food was exceptional and good value for money.
N J C — Google review
Decided to visit here after seeing a photo here of one of their currys and generally good reviews overall, unfortunately the curry I received was nothing like the photo. The portion size was tiny, the curry was flavourless, the few bits of chicken on the plate were very rubbery, and definitely overpriced for what it was, I wish I'd taken a photo of just how bad it was! The fact it was practically empty while other establishments were pretty busy should've been enough of a hint but oh well.. If you're looking for delicious food in El Cotillo you've got lots of other good options, especially Aqui next door to here, but this place was definitely disappointing

This has got to be one of the best places I have eaten in. The food is mostly homemade and always served fresh. It has such a warm and friendly atmosphere. If you can do, try and book as they do get very busy… especially on curry nights!!

Restaurante La Marisma de Mariquita Hierro is not only one of the oldest establishments in El Cotillo, but also highly regarded and recommended. It has gained popularity among both locals and tourists for its delicious traditional cuisine and stunning views. A must-try dish is the gofio escaldado stock mixed with toasted flour, which creates a thick paste that adds richness to stews, rice dishes, fish, shellfish, or meat.
Good restaurant by the ocean. Tasty food and nice service. Book in advance if you prefer an outside table. Best for dinner, amazing sunset there.

Amazing location (we go every year) and delicious food. Opens at 12.30pm Terrible slow service, the girls were not really on it and we watched 12 guests (at least) just get up (lost business) and leave due to service & they left us sitting for ages to order food as they just chatted inside. They could have got a few more beer orders from us but didn't seem bothered. They are very focused on Spanish guests. It's a shame. However the amazing food made up for it.

This wonderful seaside restaurant is just great. If you can, sit outside. The view is awesome. When we sat down, you get an red and green mojo sauce, cheese and crackers as an appetizer. Nice detail. We ordered melon gazpacho, avocado and tomate tartar, friend cheese with blueberry jam and fried fish. Everything was delicious. Breathtaking views, yummy food and outstanding service.

We visited on a Sunday evening before travelling home. Unfortunately they had no fresh fish. However we thoroughly enjoyed what we had including the T bone steak. Very friendly and efficient service. Excellent house red wine. Finished the steak and managed to squeeze in a very nice chocolate mousse. Worth a visit.

The gofio is definitely an acquired taste. Get a small portion and see how you go if you’re feeling adventurous. Seafood food was tasty and calamari portion is massive!
SR Tang — Google review
The view in-front of the restaurant entices you to sit down and have a meal by the ocean and watch the sunset. Unfortunately the food doesn’t match up. Many of the options on the menu were not available. They try to force you to by the bread, limited options on non-alcoholic drinks and the food takes a long time to come and when it t does it’s very low quality. For example the garlic shrimp came swimming in a warm vegetable oil bowl, when it should have been in a hot butter or olive oil sauce. The main dish of grilled fish was underwhelming and didn’t have much flavor.
Ayoo — Google review
I had an incredible dining experience at La Marisma de Mariquita Hierro! The fact that the owner is a fisherman who catches the freshest fish of the day is truly remarkable. The seafood dishes were bursting with flavor and the taste was simply exceptional. I couldn't get enough of their deliciously prepared meals. The dessert at La Marisma de Mariquita Hierro was a delightful surprise. It was absolutely scrumptious and the perfect ending to my meal. The flavors were well-balanced, and each bite was a sweet delight. Moreover, the restaurant's location by the sea provided breathtaking views. The serene atmosphere and the sound of waves crashing added to the overall experience. It was a perfect blend of delectable food and stunning surroundings. I highly recommend La Marisma de Mariquita Hierro to anyone who appreciates fresh seafood, mouthwatering dishes, and a picturesque coastal ambiance. It truly offers a memorable culinary journey.

As a local, I have never felt so unwelcome. Was it racial profiling? I'm not sure, but I hope to gaud it wasn't. We all spoke Spanish in respect to our waitress. It was painful for the waitress to attend to a group of us that spent 300€ It's such a lovely location, so it's a shame. The food was okay. We had to send back our fish for being undercooked. Our starter was tasteless. Luckily, the company we keep was the main reason for getting together. I've been dining here frequently enough to know that this wasn't a one-off night. It was the service. I'd reserve this place for a sunset drink outside. There are so many excellent restaurants in Cotillo, sorry to say this is not one of them.

Stopped in for a drink, but ended up having lunch as the atmosphere was gorgeous.... right on the beach front. Menu is small and pricey but absolutely worth it. Padron peppers with avocado tartare for me and chicken schnitzel with cheese croquettes for the husband. Served with bread rolls. The food was really nice, my only gripe was that the service was lacking. Other than that ...5 stars for location and food

Best view on the ocean! The terrace is relatively big and so you can enjoy the sea. If you are lucky there is even some live music on the side. We ordered the La Marisma (house) salad which is with some tuna, prawns and melon next to the standard salad, egg and some veggies. There is an English menu. The bread is not included as is also stated on the menu. It comes with 3 delicious sauces (mojo and garlic).

Best chateaubriand ever, for 2, they do great seafood obviously, but this is our favourite. They struggle a bit with English, but that's not a problem. I couldn't get coffee last time for some reason, I think they couldn't be bothered after cleaning it.

Came on a quiet Monday afternoon and everything was excellent. Views from terrace are amazing.. Service and food were great.

Not recommended. Apart from scenic view during sunsets this place should be avoided. The policies regarding serving are not clear, drinks menu is not existent even though you can order drinkables, you can order glass of wine but only if you also order some food... ... which is really poor quality. The breaded eggplant was inedible, smelled malodorous and was diluted, the wrinkled potatoes are premade, kept in heater, and the grilled octopus is served charred but still somewhat gummy. the chefs kiss are prices in the menu which are not including VAT which is borderline illegal in Spain. Service was ok but the staff seems to accepted faith of this place which is just scammy tourist trap. Sadly.

Mediterranean restaurant

Great selection of starters and main courses. Location is great and the views are stunning both in the day and during sunset.

Delicious food and excellent presentation! Caesar salad starter was phenomenal 😋 And huge! Sadly I couldn't do justice to the mixed fish and seafood platter as I was almost full! Excellent restaurant, Highly recommended!

Not often do I give 5 stars as these are reserved for the very best of the best....this restaurant easily gets my 5 stars. I guess that say it all.

Fantastic and tasty food. A little on the expensive side, but the atmosphere and view make up for that.

Nice ambiance, great staff and good food. Lots of locals eating here which is a good sign. All the food was great, the only slight let down was the chicken escalope... I should have ordered something different as a main. Would definitely eat here again!

Good quality service. Tasty carpaccio pulpe, fish croquetas, Canarian potato, bread. Best mojo souse that I tried in El Cotillo.

The cafe El Goloso de Cotillo is a great spot to enjoy some sweet treats and sandwiches along with a cold drink on the beach. They offer an excellent variety of drinks, as well as some great freshly made bread. The cafe is always busy, which is testament to the quality of their offerings. It's a perfect spot for breakfast, lunchtime or dinner.
Great fresh pressed juices. Nice bread! Usually you need to wait in the line :)

The desserts and pastries here are delicious, especially the ‘tarta de pistachos y frambuesas’. The coffee is also very tasty, and the ‘tostada con jamon serrano’ was excellent. However, during breakfast hours, be prepared to wait in line to place your order, as there’s no table service.
Iryna Shaitanova — Google review
We have been in El Cotillo for 14 days and went every single day to El Goloso for breakfast. Such a great place and the prices for us as a family were really affordable. The Tostada Tomate Y Aceite is absolutely great and so was everything else.

Hands down the BEST breakfast in El Cotillo. Everything is delicious, affordable and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommend coming here. I see why it is always full of people. 5 stars!

My favourite in Cotillo for a good coffee, and very reasonable priced bocodillos, as well as loads of treats for anyone with a Goloso (sweet-tooth)

It’s an amazing place, I was there 7 of October and the coffe and pistachio/strawberry cake was incredible! The two girls they were very nice and kind with me! Absolutely I’m gonna come back soon! Thanks so much for all😊

Great for coffee, pastries, sandwiches and treats, allways busy and expect q's early morning, but they move fast.. :-) lovely friendly staff and very reasonable prices. And trier fresh breads and baguettes are amazing.

Really great selection of sweet things and sandwiches / toast. Great options for drinks (teas/ coffees / fresh really fresh juices!) They are always busy and there is a reason for that! the bread that they make fresh in house is delicious (I have tried all of them), worth paying a little bit more for quality tasty bread than you get in the supermarkets here and even then it's still cheap. Lovely spot by the beach too

We hat coffee there twice before we went to the beach. Parking across the street. The coffee is delicious and the french bakery is great. Its hard to decide what to eat. Very nice girls behind the counter.

I wake up in the morning wishing I could still walk down to this bakery for breakfast. Great coffee, bocadillos, fresh fruit smoothies, and sweet baked treats. The pistachio tart was so good. The staff works so hard to keep up with the amount of daily visitors they get. Even if it’s busy, stand in that line and wait for some good food, you won’t be disappointed. They certainly deserve your patience.

Our second stay in Cotillo. Found this bakery last year, and now we’re staying 2 minutes walk away! Fabulous croissants, breads, cakes and coffee. Queue can be right out the door, which is no surprise. It’s our daily morning visit. Wonderful.

Amazing patisserie with the best desserts and croissants around. Just yummy.. and such good value
Ian Ross — Google review
We (or rather my boyfriend) go there every other day to pick up bread and some croissants. Both taste great at very reasonable prices. Only low point is that due to great bakery there is always a queue already waiting. Highly recommendable!

Fantastic cafe, delicious sandwiches, ice cream, coffee - everything. Very friendly and polite service. They are open even on Sunday from 7.30am. Best place for breakfast in the area, there are many locals coming in the morning. Thank you guys!

A perfect lunch/snack spot not far from the beach. I got the curry chicken salad sandwich— which had delicious bread. The pistachio strawberry tart and a leche leche. In general, everything was tasty and seemed to be quite reasonably price. We even came back for fresh juice that they have an interesting machine for— you can select the fruits and vegetables you’d like in it and it comes out right on the other side of the booth.

Restaurant
The cafe, Bar Cafetería Aguayre, offers the finest vantage point in the village with its stunning outlook on the new harbor and the southern coastline of the nearby islands. Its prime location makes it a popular choice among day visitors as it is easily noticeable upon arrival. Furthermore, with the recent pedestrianization of the surrounding road, obstructed views are no longer a concern. After a two-year absence, one's return to this establishment proves that it has surpassed expectations.
Aguayre is located close to the El Cotillo harbour and offers a very nice view of the ocean, friendly and quick waiters, good prices and tasty food. I definitely recommend the Pulpo a la plancha, grilled squid It's buttery smooth, just plain delicious

It's been 2 year's since I last visited - and I was wondering if it was as good as i remembered - the truth was - it was even better - lovely staff - great selection of food - and very reasonable - i had a grilled chicken sandwich and the most lovely Curly fries ( if you go - you must have the curly fries ) - the views were breath taking - lovely place to have a meal and watch the Sun go down - will I be back - I think you know the answer - of course I will - and it will be sooner than later

A delightful corner cafe overlooking the ocean. We had a great breakfast here, an English Breakfast and an Aguayre Breakfast both were fresh, cooked to perfection, fulfilling. The eggs were done very nicely, the prawns juicy and plump and the sausages and bacon was done just right. The coffee is delicious. Servers are smiley and very helpful. Our compliments to the owner and chef and the entire staff working here!

We ordered a vegetable pizza with goat cheese and a vegetarian lasagna as well as a freshly made juice and vanilla latte. The food was very tasty, the prices were absolutely reasonable! The staff was friendly but a little stressed out so we had to wait a while to get a menu or the check - you have to actively call the waiters and not just wait for them to eventually see you :)

Loved this random find! We just ended up here randomly and it was such a good place to eat ! Got to see the sunset whilst we ate and the food was amazing! The drinks were the best part! Fresh juices! Tastes so amazing!

We had a similar experience to Bjorn Eis. Difficult to attract attention when we first sat down. Requested a menu which never came. Finally ordered 2 coffees and 2 croissants - the croissants never came. Decided to leave at that point and of course found the croissants were on the bill. No problem in taking them off but no acknowledgement or apology when we explained they were never brought to us. A very odd experience, especially considering most of the other reviews are so good.

I don’t recommend this place, food was just okay. My husband ordered fish and was very not fresh and portion very small for the price. My burrito was just ok. Good service though. There is a lot better options in the area.

Fantastic little cafe with amazing view. Friendly staff and nice clean open kitchen. We drove 15k every morning for the coffee and the food. This cafe was the highlight of our trip.

We ordered a children’s meal for a 5 year old and were given and charged for an adult portion. We had actually pointed to the children’s dish on the menu. When we asked for the difference in cost to be refunded as we’d paid and then noticed, they argued that we should have known it wasn’t what we’d ordered and because it had been eaten that we deserved to pay for it. 3 adults in the party were unaware of the size of a child’s portion. All the portions were big. Apparently we should have known and told them! It ruined my lunch that such an unfair and unbelievable attitude to us as customers should exist. They put the responsibility on us when they should have taken it. I left feeling disrespected and humiliated

Restaurant with a fantastic view on the ocean and nearby cliffs. The food was not expensive but the quality was a bit above the average. We had grilled sea food mostly as squid and king prawns. The best was the side dish - local small potatoes. The kids meal - hamburger and chips were not very tasty, especially the burger. The service was quick and friendly. The view is the best.

What a wonderful restaurant. There was plenty of food options but we'd already decided we wanted pizza. Our English waitress advised that they were large so we didn't bother with a starter & we wasn't disappointed. We fancied a cocktail instead of beer too, me margarita my bf pinacolada. My margarita was very strong (just how I like it) & the pizza was yummy. Our table also had a lovely view of the sea
